Todd had to be out for family business again, so he and Aaron prerecorded a new show over the weekend. First, we cover the news of the weekend. Tomorrow, Nevada will host their Republican primary, but the results will be of little consequence. The party has said that they will use the February 8th caucus to determine the state’s electors instead, and that Donald Trump is the predetermined victor. Once again, the MAGA movement shows their blatant disregard for democracy.
Next, Todd shares the sad story of Dean Phillips. The Wisconsin supreme court unanimously ruled that Phillips, a relatively unknown presidential candidate, must be added to the ballot. Phillips is irrelevant to this upcoming election, and may even be detrimental, taking votes away from candidates who have a chance. Todd is in favor of giving everybody a fair chance, but in this case, Dean Phillips has had a chance, and failed to make his mark.
After that, Todd sets some time aside to cover a story that’s been on his mind for some time now. The rise of online shopping has led to a massive increase in packages that need to be delivered. In urban areas, these logistics are easy to figure out, as private delivery services, such as Amazon’s delivery trucks, pick up a lot of the load. However, these private companies typically decline to serve rural areas, leaving the USPS to deliver far more packages without additional staff. In some cases, post offices have also been instructed to prioritize Amazon packages, leading to delays in very important mail, like social security checks or paper bills. Ultimately, the United States Postal Service is integral to the lives of many Americans, and we must appropriately support it.
