Continuing our discussion from today’s first hour, Todd takes your calls on Donald Trump and Elise Stefanik’s portrayals of rioters from January 6th as patriots being held hostage by Democrats. Several callers posit that Donald Trump does not demonstrate a particularly deep understanding of either history or politics, and they are correct. Ultimately, Trump focuses on oversimplifying complex issues, distilling them down to catchphrases and repetitive talking points that play on people’s fears.

Since the inception of the MAGA movement, far-right extremists have self-identified as patriotic American Revolutionaries, but that could not be further from the truth. This past weekend, acclaimed historian and author Heather Cox Richardson published an essay comparing the actions of January 6th rioters and insurrectionists to those of actual 1770s Americans, and the contrasts are stark.

Todd also brings us a concerning story from the Las Vegas Review Journal. Wall Street conglomerates have been rapidly purchasing hundreds of homes in Las Vegas to artificially raise housing costs. This practice could very well come to Wisconsin if we aren’t careful. Todd urges Wisconsin legislators to preemptively protect the people of our state from being priced out of their own homes.
