I am not afraid of the dark or the taboo. I want to talk about this stuff to normalize it so people don't have to feel afraid or ashamed to share what they have gone through in life. If you have experience of being in a Charismatic church then I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about. This experience has also lead me to where I am today which is a really happy place and is one of the many reason why I left Christianity. For that, I am really thankful! So, here is my story. There was a man at church who has "the gift of prophesy" and one day he told me that God was calling me to move out of state. I believed him with no questions asked. All I can say is that I wanted to be obedient, because you know, the church teaches "obedience equals blessings" and I wanted the "blessings" that were promised to me. So, I quite my job, donated my things, packed up my car and by some miracle, I did NOT end up moving. Thank God that I was brought to my senses and started to use logic instead of over spiritualizing everything. But hey, I didn't know any better and I thought I was doing what I was SUPPOSED to do. Now that I have learned my lesson, I can say that I WILL NEVER make this mistake again. I hope you enjoy my story and if you have made the same mistake as me, know that it is alright. After doing some research a lot of intelligent people fall for the trap of the over spiritualized especially after going through a tragedy. Know that we are in this together! Thanks for listening and I am looking forward to our next conversation.
