In episode 8 of Oh Mama, I dive into what we did when it came to prenatal testing for our baby. I know that this decision can feel a little overwhelming, thinking “should we test?” and if so, “which testing should we do?” - so I hope sharing my experience helps a little if you’re in the middle of trying to figure that out.

I also share storytime of how we did our gender reveal (literally the most fun way ever) and what it was like finding out if we are having a baby boy or a baby girl! There’s updates on how I’ve been feeling at 13 and 14 weeks pregnant, and how different things are already as we step into the second trimester (can you believe it?!)

Oh and I think I felt the first kicks of the baby this week! SO EXCITING (but also so confusing - it’s so hard to know if it’s actually the baby ‘flutters’ as they call it, or if it’s just you needing to fart haha.) Enjoy!

Okay mama, here’s all the things we’re talking about:

  • 13 and 14 weeks pregnant update
  • The journal I’m using to document my pregnancy journey
  • Boob update as I head into trimester two
  • Sharing my pregnancy hack for nausea
  • Normalising differences in how much weight you should gain during pregnancy
  • Why you shouldn’t compare to anyone else’s pregnancy, bump or body
  • Mirror work to help you love your body through pregnancy
  • Reminding yourself you are enough and talking to yourself like you would a child
  • The increase in luekorreaha when you’re pregnant
  • Sex during pregnancy and how its been feeling for me
  • Experiencing round ligament pain in the second trimester
  • Being gentle with movement and honouring the changes in your body
  • What the first kicks or “flutters” feel like and when I felt them
  • The difference between NIPT testing and combined genetic testing (and what we did)
  • Storytime: How we did our gender reveal (such a fun way to do it!) + what we’re having!

OH MAMA MANTRA: Pregnancy is the only time where you can do nothing at all and still be productive

**Please note: this podcast is not medical advice. Instead, think of it as having a pregnancy chats with your BFF, where we keep things wildly honest, and we share what we're really thinking and experiencing as we grow a tiny human. If an episode is helpful, amazing, but it's in no way here to tell you what to do or how to be/feel/act/think. Your experience is unique and perfect to you. No comparison necessary here, but we hope hearing the experiences we share makes you feel a little less alone in the moments when you might wonder if it's only you that's going through it. I promise you mama, it isn't. You're not alone, and we're in this together - one big mama squad.
