Yesterday, While cutting an upper meadow pasture to harvest the grass for winter feeding of elk I was able to watch the edge effect play out. A mule deer fawn in the meadow I was cutting at first felt no pressure as I entered the field but with each pass and more fragmentation, I witnessed the negative effects of both an increase of edge and an increase in habitat fragmentation.
