In this episode I talk about what it means to become the observer and why it is such an important part of the process of change.

If you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you have heard me say many times that awareness is the first step of change. There is a lot that goes on inside your body that you aren’t aware of.

Here are some takeaways from this episode:

  • If you have experiences where it feels like you are at the mercy of something outside of yourself that just compels you to eat, but you really aren't even sure of what is happening in your mind and body - this is totally normal. When this happens you are on autopilot. You are pretty much at the effect of whatever is going on, without even realizing it.
  • Notice your patterns. Start to get curious about what is happening in your body when you notice that compulsive desire to eat a lot of food in a short period of time.
  • As you start to become more aware of what is happening to you in the moments of eating - it's important not to judge yourself. Remember - shame and judgment are the #1 reason why people binge and what will keep you stuck.
