Thomas did do a lot of research when looking into a coding bootcamp but not in the traditional sense. He didn’t even attend an info session. But he did a lot of research on his own and because he did the most research with Sabio he decided to jump in and do it. He needed a new path forward. And despite living overseas in Turkey and having to worry about time zones he was able to complete Sabio’s Bootcamp program and get a job working as a Software Engineer.

After getting COVID and then not being paid after being quarantine he decided to quit his job as a preschool teacher and try to find something new. He also wanted a new career and was ready to take the leap into Software Engineering. He was able to find a job that was remote and covered his expenses. He would work from 3-7 PM and then log into Sabio from 7 PM to 7 AM to complete the courses with Sabio. It was hard but he could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When he graduated he sent out a lot of resumes and did a lot of interviews. Each interview gave him the opportunity to pull from his experience and improve his answers for the next interview. Initially he was planning to stay overseas in Turkey, but a friend from his cohort at Sabio referred him to a job and he couldn’t pass up the opportunity and is now back in the U.S. working for the company and with his friend front he cohort.

He recommends trying out Sabio’s free resources to see if you like coding if you are interested in attending their bootcamp program. You can check out their free courses here. It will help you know if this is something that interests you and can make it easier to take the leap. But you can also dive in without experience.
