During times of concern, Psalm 56:3 has been a close friend: “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” Being able to see that David, a man after God’s own heart, experienced times when worry and fear were real and present can be a balm to an anxious spirit. We can follow David’s example of casting our cares on the Lord: David simply acknowledged his fear—simultaneously acknowledging his weakness and lack of trust—and then asked for God’s intervention and the removal of his fear and worries.
