In this world, we are like children standing on the seashore, gazing across the water to the horizon’s edge. We think we can grasp the ocean’s size by what our eyes can see, when—in reality—we can only see a few miles ahead. The same is true of our limited capacity to take in the fullness of God’s created kingdom and his will for our lives; for now, we are limited to only what we can see, and his kingdom is not of this world. We may not always understand his commands—especially the command to forgive others like he has forgiven us—but he is God and we are not.
