SuperSport Schools has changed the game of school sports broadcasting and become a household name in the process. In 2022 alone, over 25 000 hours of live matches were streamed across more than 20 sports. With several fixtures also being broadcast on TV as well.

In this episode, brought to you by Spur, Alex talks to Gerard Steyn, the CEO of SuperSport Schools, about how the company started and has progressed. Alex reflects on the impact the platform has had on rugby referees as an example of the greater impact the platform has in many unexpected ways. They then discuss the future of the platform, especially in a context defined by extensive loadshedding.

Simon, an SSS multicam producer, joins Alex to talk about what goes into creating a live broadcast at big matches and how boys and girls at school can get involved with commentary and production. If you’re interested in getting involved send an email to the address below.
