In October 2017, Sophia, a social humanoid robot developed by the company Hanson Robotics, was given Saudi Arabian citizenship, and became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country. This event has caused a wave of commentary on whether technology is already trustworthy to such an extent. Humanity is facing many challenges due to AI. We can already see AI algorithms suppressing people’s opinions and trying to control us.
