1999 was a weird time for music, there was so much diverse music around. Everyone was preparing for the millenium bug and a load of other weird and wonderful things to celebrate it. We thought we would have the biggest parties the country had ever seen, and then it was gone...
This is another one of those mixes that I could see in my head, and as a result I got this... It's more like a deeper moody, slower mix.
Bit of a weird one this. I had this idea around 2002-2003 where I would mix a load of new trance records with some of the classics. I think it turned out ok, but it does sound a little weird now I've given it a re-listen.
A 2 part mix I did a few years ago. Was later played on the radio as a guest mix on compound radio. Was inspired by disco and funk and some of the deeper clubs I went to.

I know what people mean when they say they can see music. I had a vision of this mix in my mind, and I knew exactly what I wanted it to sound like. I found the tunes and I went through each one, and when it didn't meat with what I had in my head I deleted it and moved on, until I had a compilation of enough tunes that I thought matched. I put them all together in a mix, and this is what I came up with. It's mostly oldskool, and with a few modern twists thrown in for fun.
Just some house tunes I liked the sound of, so I mixed them up a bit and came up with this little cheeky mix.

Not sure of the exact time this was recorded, but it was recorded live from a radio station that I used to host and dj on.
Don't know what happened to part 2. I think maybe because the original was 2 sides of the tape. I did originally try to remix the first part and call it 1.5, but I couldn't remember some of the more important tracks, so I just opted for a sequel in the end. At least you didn't have to wait as long as the tron sequel!
This was meant as a bit of a joke. I used to live near a conservative club, and they were having a party. I decided to do a classic trance mix of mainly Eye Q and Harthouse stuff. Purely just to drown out the sound of the disco-fodder that was coming from over the road.
This is one of my first ever recorded mixes. I don't even still have the original tape...
Quality not that great, and the mixing is shocking, but the nostalgia is huge! Not bad for 25 years ago... I was still living at home, no worries, and had plenty of money for vinyl and clubbing. In fact that's all I had money for!
Episode 9 in the series. I wasn't feeling the energy that I got off the others. I just don't think my heart is in Techno anymore. Although the losing your mind mix was pretty enjoyable. Hope you like this.
I'd forgotten about this, just found it on my SD card where I keep my recorded sessions. Back in September this year. Some recent-ish techno. Don't really know much more than that. I can't remember what I was aiming for. Hope you enjoy...
Venturing into another genre in 1997. Here we have trance. By 1997 it had permanently cemented itself in it's own genre, totally seperate from Techno.
It was natural, that as dance music split off into other genres, we would expect those genres then to split off into other new sub-genres. One of those such sub-genres is French House (or touch house as it is sometimes known). Daft Punk in particular introduced their new take on house music, influenced by disco and funk
So it was only natural that after jack made house, we eventually had garage. In 1994 I was very techno focused, and from being locked up for the last 18 years it was a great release of all that energy I'd been keeping in. In 1995 I was introduced to House Music and I realised you could actually like both, and they complimented each other quite well. So I toured the house clubs, and still enjoyed the techno.
My most ambitious mix so far... I could have just got a load of BUSH records together and done a dave clarke type mix, but I wanted to paint a picture of how I remember the Orbit the first time I walked through those doors. I wanted to summarise the journey that you go through from the moment you enter those doors, to that last tune that leaves you wanting more. I wanted to give you the true sound of 1994 as I remember it.
Well you can tell I'm not a jungle DJ, but I gave it a go. I had this idea that as the dance culture split off into different genres I would further explore those genres. This time we delve into suburban base and movin shadow, or drum and bass if you want the actual genre. Hope you enjoy...

This started off as an ambitious project, but turned out much better than anticipated. I had this idea that I would do a mix for each year of the 90's. It was really hard to compile this list of tunes from the year 1990, but once I laid them down and decided to mix them, it all came together.
