API Case Files is the official podcast of Aerial Phenomena Investigations. The API team is out to drain the UFO swamp, bringing a real scientific and skeptical approach to the study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. We don't have all the answers, so we investigate.

This is our first anonymous API Conversation, although we are using his real first name of our Witness. A former Air Force F111 technician tells us his story about a UFO encounter captured on RADAR at Cannon Air Force base in New Mexico in the mid 1970s, and what followed after that.

Marsha Barnhart talks to Dr. Joan Bird, author of the book Montana UFOs and Extraterrestrials: Extraordinary Stories of Documented Sightings and Encounters. \
Dr. Bird is a Zoologist who specialized in animal behavior. She moved to Montana in 1973 to pursue graduate studies in zoology at the University of Montana, and in 1983 she completed her Ph.D. on inter-island variation in West Indian finches. Dr. Bird worked as a conservation biologist for the Montana Environmental Information Center, The Nature Conservancy, and Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. She has also worked as a fire lookout in both Washington and Montana. Joan freelanced as a nature interpretation writer and has written numerous articles for scientific and conservation publications. Actively involved in women’s empowerment, she was a columnist for Crone Magazine. A lifelong student of unexplained phenomena and long-time member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, she has worked as a community educator and change agent.
When Joan was a teenager, her mother had a near death experience. This engendered a lifelong interest in exploring paranormal and esoteric subjects. And, although steeped in scientific materialism from her academic training, Dr. Bird eventually began to study and attempt to understand the inexplicable.
In this episode of API Conversations, Marsha and Dr. Bird discuss the contents of her book, Montana UFOs and Extraterrestrials, and delve into a host of related philosophies, concepts and theories regarding UFO’s, the ET Hypothesis, the Nature of Reality, the possibility of Past Lives and the value of Consciousness Studies.

This episode of API Case Files covers three recent cases.
Paul reports on a daylight sighting from the Isle of Man (Case 21-023) detailing how two men pursued three orbs until the lights disappeared. This encounter took place May 27th, 2021 and is especially provocative because a day before some else on the Island of Man saw and reported a single orb just like what our Witness saw.
Two days before the Isle of Man sighting, a Witness in Brooklyn, NY shot footage of three self-illuminated orbs in a triangle configuration cruising up the East River towards Manhattan. Marsha interviewed the Witness in that case.
Marsha also details a case from central Ohio of a mother and son who had a close encounter that so startled their senses they became sick to their stomachs for several hours afterwards.

Central Casting Saucer Spotted Outside Louisville; a Colorado Campout Overhead Light Show; and a Terrifying Idaho Orb Encounter
Several really good cases to cover in this episode! A mother and daughter saw a right-out-of-central-casting flying saucer maneuvering over them in the early evening of December 11, 2020. They were in a large urban area just outside Louisville. And we hear from a Colorado camper who got more than he bargained for under the stars the night of May 13, 2021: a mass of seemingly connected white lights cavorting in the sky for several hours as he and a companion took in the spectacle. A Witness in Caldwell, Idaho on May 17, 2021 recorded an orb flying along that seemingly changed directions to fly towards him. It stopped momentarily over his house as he took cover under an awning in fear of what it might do next!
Also in this podcast, Paul Carr presents another in his series of Unidentified Science episodes. He covers the issues surrounding fallible human recall.

While researching his book, the Justin reached out to Marsha in an attempt to get detailed information on API case 12-001. The Witness in this case was the night manager at a hotel on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. On October 14, 2008, both he and the hotel night time security manager were outside talking when they saw a large Triangular UFO rise up from the Horseshoe Falls and silently glide over them.
The most unusual aspect of the case occurred in the early afternoon of May 10th 2009 when two men dressed in black came to the hotel looking for the Manager. Hotel Lobby Security cameras captured a short video snippet of these two men. This footage, made available during the original investigation, is perhaps the ONLY known case of genuine MIB captured on video.

Justin has written the most complete accounting of this case covering not only the original UFO sighting and the accounts supplied by the hotel employees who interacted with the men in black, but also in-depth information gathered directly from the Witness detailing a long series of unusual paranormal and anomalous experiences. And this fascinating story is but one in a book filled with unusual and provocative true, first-hand accounts of weirdness.
During this podcast, Marsha and the author discuss his book, The Spectrum, and examine a wide range of topics encompassing UFO’s, anomalies, and paranormal experiences.

Guest Bio Kevin Knuth is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University at Albany. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Entropy. He is a former NASA research scientist having worked for four years at NASA Ames Research Center in the Intelligent Systems Division. He has 20 years of experience in applying Bayesian and maximum entropy methods to the design of machine learning algorithms for data analysis applied to the physical sciences. His current research interests include the foundations of physics, inference and inquiry, autonomous robotics, and the search for and characterization of extrasolar planets. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to give over 80 presentations in 13 countries.

Marsha Barnhart talks to Cheryl Costa, co-author of UFO Sightings Desk Reference. This is a one-of-a-kind reference book covering 15 years of UFO sightings within the United States. The information was gleaned from more than 120,000 raw reports made by citizens to either the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) or the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) between the years 2001 to 2015. The information is a statistical bonanza annotating the frequency, distribution and shapes of reported UFO’s, with accompanying graphs charts and charts, and broken down into states and state counties for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
But this body of work, as amazing as it is, showcases just a portion of Cheryl’s talents: she is a published playwright, a film maker, a blogger with an international following, a talk radio host, an ordained Buddhist Nun, a Disclosure Activist and a devotee of Mind and Consciousness study.
Cheryl is a native New Yorker. She is a US Military Veteran. Anyone who reads her blog, New York Skies, can easily reach her at her published email account. Part one of this interview with Cheryl Costa was recorded on February 28th, 2018.

Marsha Barnhart talks to Dr. Mark Rodeghier, President and Scientific Director of the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies. The Center was founded originally by Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who was a professor of astronomy at The Ohio State University, and later, chairman of the astronomy department at Northwestern University near Chicago, where the Center for UFO Studies is based. It is a privately funded UFO research group.
Dr. Rodeghier—who holds a BS in astrophysics from Indiana University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago—has headed the Center since 1986. He was a colleague of Dr. Hynek's and shares the same passion for approaching the UFO/UAP phenomenon from a scientific point-of-view. His work at the Center for UFO Studies dovetails perfectly into his position as science director with the UFODATA Project, which is the subject of this episode.

Norio Hayakawa Welcome to API Conversations. I'm Marsha Barnhart API's Chief of Investigations and your host for this Conversations episode. My guest today for this edition of API Conversations is Norio Hayakawa.
Norio is a resident of New Mexico and probably best known for his work investigating the anomalous activities in and around the Dulce New Mexico area. He is a blogger, an activist and, as such, the driving force behind a citizen oversight committee...the Civilian Intelligence Central.
Norio for a very long time has been looking into the strange world of what we colloquially term "UFO's" . His research and examinations in this area has taken him on quite a journey. In the beginning his belief centered on the ET Hypothosis. Now, after many years immersed in this field, he has come to see the phenomenon in a much more nebulous light.
Our conversation was wide-ranging and he took great pains to maintain a skeptical approach but still face head-on the scope of what he feels is more akin to the philosophy embodied in John Keel and Dr. Jacques Valee's work.

About our Guest, Martin Willis:
The subject of UFOs has fascinated Martin since his youth, yet he was on the fence about the subject. He experienced a sighting in 2006 in Carmel Valley, CA, that solidified his beliefs that UFOs really do exist. Since this time, Martin has paid attention to what others have to say about the phenomenon with an open mind. Pondering what UFOs may be, or if they are possibly extraterrestrial helped spark his interest to another level. In the last number of years, Martin has become interested in astronomy and always maintained a strong scientific fascination of our vast universe. Martin feels certain that we are not alone and thinks it is possible that some small part of our government knows that and keeps it from us. As an armchair UFOlogist, Martin created Podcast UFO in November, 2011. Martin’s mission is to provide a place where anyone could interact and be heard who had a UFO experience or insight on the subject. Martin is an artist as well as a longtime antique & fine art appraiser.
