The account in Exodus is traditionally thought to have begun approximately 300 years after Joseph's death. Two dates are listed throughout: the traditional earlier date and an alternative, later date.

Exodus 1:1-22 (1526 or 1360 BC) - The Israelites in Egypt

Exodus 2:1-10 - The Birth of Moses

Exodus 2:11-25 (1486 or 1320 BC) - Moses escapes to Midian (Moses was 40 years old when what follows took place)
