Secure your keys! Ep 011

We had an issue where I (Unkle Bonehead) lost the keys for the Defluenced Hive account. I ended up having to start a new one. So make sure you are following DefluencedCast

Good Ideas* Back them up * Back them up again in a different place. * Back them up a third time in yet another place. * Print them out on paper. * Put them in a safe. * Send a copy to a trusted friend or family member. * Repeat as many times as you feel necessary.

Bad ideas

• Send them in unencrypted email to the FBI, CIA or any other 3 letter agency
• Post it notes on your monitor
• Bulletin board at your church, the library, or other public place
• On hard drives that have a history of failing
• Let your browser remember them
• Open forums and message boards
• Tattoo on your forearm
• On your dog’s ID collar
• On a refrigerator magnet in your RV.
• Let Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, or another exchange hold your keys (NOT your keys, NOT your crypto)
