God said it was not good for man to be alone. So He picked a bone, and out of it He made for Adam a vital, co-laboring harmonious partner: Eve. But because they sinned by eating the forbidden fruit, they hid, they blamed, and were so ashamed of their nakedness that God had to make coverings for them. Something had to die to cover them.
