1 Samuel 16:1-3, 8-13 NIV
“It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.”
Proverbs 25:2 NLT
God conceals for our benefit - as kings we have the privileged to discover what has been concealed. When God asked Samuel to go to Bethlehem to anoint a king, He did not reveal the identity of David. He only told Samuel He had selected one of Jesse’s sons to be King. It was in Samuel obeying Gods instructions (with only pieces of the puzzle) that gave him the privilege to discover what God had concealed - David - a man after Gods heart as king of Israel.
Without consistent, blind obedience Samuel would have never known.
And guess what? David was shepherding - doing the work in preparation to be a king when he was sent for.
When God is birthing through us. We may not look like what it is outwardly so we cannot rely on outward confirmations of Gods Word. But instead we need to look inward. As an example Samuel and Jesse both did not know that God had called David to be the next king up until David walked into the room. We have a similar example with Joseph in prison. No one could have phantom a prisoner becoming prime minister.
It is God’s glory to conceal a matter, but it is a kings glory to reveal the matter.
