1 Samuel 25:18–24

Abigail was bold! She went with some servants to meet David and 400 men who were determined to kill her family. That was a bold move! What if David did not agree to the pleas of Abigail? What if, when she went to him with the gifts, he did not accept them but went ahead with his vengeance plans? There are so many what-ifs when we take risks with God.

Boldness is necessary in our walk with God. We will in many cases not feel qualified, or think we have the capacity or best placed for the tasks - we will have endless reasons not to. We would be continually going out of our comfort zone - which is very discomforting. But the interesting thing is - God is continually with us and if God is with us - there is nothing before us that we cannot overcome. And that act of faith would lead us to places we wouldn’t have imagined we could get to by our works.

It’s also useful to mention that let’s not think one is safe in their comfort zone. If Abigail had stayed at home and not gone off to meet David, Her family would be no more. Go where God is leading us.

Prayer: God help us to walk in faith and not be sight.
