How often do you give incredible advice to everyone else... but struggle to follow it yourself?
In today's episode of Embracing the Fight, we're having an honest conversation about one of life's greatest ironies: we often possess the wisdom we need, yet we ignore our own voice.
Your conscience isn't just random thoughts. It's often the quiet place where God speaks most clearly. Before we seek validation from everyone else, what if we paused long enough to listen to what God has already placed inside of us?
If you've ever found yourself saying:
...this episode is for you.
We'll discuss: ✨ Why we trust ourselves less than we trust others ✨ The difference between fear and God's direction ✨ How to recognize the voice of your conscience ✨ Why we become our own biggest obstacle ✨ Practical ways to begin listening to yourself again
Sometimes the breakthrough you've been praying for isn't another opinion... It's finally believing what God has already been telling you.

Have you experienced a job loss, a failed relationship, divorce, financial hardship, homelessness, or a setback that left you questioning your worth and abilities?
In this powerful episode of Embracing The Fight, Erica Lamar tackles a struggle that many people face but few openly discuss: the loss of confidence after life's disappointments.
As children, many of us were taught that we could accomplish anything we set our minds to. Yet somewhere along the journey, failure, rejection, loss, betrayal, and unexpected life circumstances can shake our belief in ourselves. What once felt possible suddenly feels impossible.
Drawing from personal experiences and real-life examples, Erica explores how confidence becomes displaced—not because we are incapable, but because life's challenges can temporarily disconnect us from who we truly are.
In this episode, you'll discover:
✅ How setbacks can quietly erode your confidence ✅ Why failure does not define your future ✅ The difference between losing confidence and needing to rebuild it ✅ How action, service, and personal growth help restore self-belief ✅ Why helping others through experiences you've survived can become your greatest strength ✅ The importance of replacing negative self-talk with affirmations and truth
Erica reminds listeners that confidence isn't gone—it often just needs to be restructured, rebuilt, and strengthened for the season you're in now.
If you've been feeling stuck, discouraged, afraid to try again, or overwhelmed by life's circumstances, this episode will encourage you to get back in the fight and start rebuilding from the inside out.
"Life changes, and so should your confidence."

Have you ever prayed for direction, only to realize that the answer was already in front of you—and you were the one running from it?
In this powerful episode of Embracing the Fight, Erica Lamar explores what it means to stop running from clarity and start walking in purpose. Through the stories of The Book of Jonah and the shrewd manager in The Gospel of Luke, we uncover a truth many of us struggle to accept: sometimes the very thing we're asking God to reveal has already been revealed, but we're too busy relying on our own strength to see it.
Erica shares her personal journey of losing a career, financial stability, certainty, and control—only to discover that those losses were not punishment, but preparation. What felt like devastation became an invitation to trust God differently, listen more closely, and embrace the clarity she had been avoiding.
In this episode, you'll learn:
✅ Why Jonah ran from God's assignment—and how we often do the same ✅ How pride, fear, comfort, and self-reliance can cloud our vision ✅ What the manager in Luke 16 teaches us about stewardship and wisdom ✅ Why faithfulness in small responsibilities opens the door to greater opportunities ✅ How seasons of loss can become seasons of revelation ✅ Practical steps to stop striving and start trusting God's direction
Too often, we want the promotion before proving faithful in the position we already have. We want the blessing without the stewardship. We want the destination without the process. But Scripture reminds us that those who are faithful over little will be entrusted with much.
If you're in a season of uncertainty, transition, job loss, financial struggle, disappointment, or spiritual confusion, this episode is for you. Your valley may not be the end of your story—it may be the place where clarity finally finds you.
A Word of Encouragement You are not disqualified because you stumbled. You are not forgotten because the door closed. You are not abandoned because the path changed. Sometimes God removes the things we depend on so we can learn to depend on Him. What feels like loss today may be creating the space for purpose tomorrow.
Be faithful with what is in your hands right now. Be faithful with your time. Be faithful with your gifts. Be faithful with your character. Be faithful when no one is watching. The big assignment is often hidden behind a series of small acts of obedience.
The Path Forward 1. Stop running from what God has already shown you. 2. Surrender the need to control every outcome. 3. Steward your current opportunities well. 4. Seek wisdom before seeking recognition. 5. Trust God's timing more than your own plans. 6. Remain faithful in the small things. 7. Walk boldly when clarity comes.
Your breakthrough may not come from finding something new. It may come from finally embracing what God has been telling you all along.

What if the scoreboard you've been using to measure your life is wrong?
So many of us spend our days keeping score of everything that didn't go according to plan. The jobs we lost. The weight we gained. The relationships that failed. The illnesses we never asked for. The dreams that were delayed. The financial struggles. The heartbreaks. The disappointments.
We look at the scoreboard and convince ourselves that we're losing.
But what if we've been counting the wrong things?
In this deeply personal episode of Embracing the Fight, Erica Lamar explores how the absence of grace for ourselves can create a false reality. We become so focused on what we've lost that we fail to recognize what it took to survive. We overlook the courage it took to get out of bed, the faith it took to keep believing, and the resilience it took to keep moving forward when life seemed determined to knock us down.
This episode is for:
✨ The person grieving the future they expected ✨ The person carrying silent battles while the world calls them strong ✨ The person struggling financially but refusing to quit ✨ The person rebuilding after loss, betrayal, illness, or disappointment ✨ The survivor who needs to remember just how far they've come
Today, we challenge the scoreboard.
Because maybe your life isn't defined by what happened to you.
Maybe it's defined by what it took for you to survive it.

There comes a moment in life when we stop asking "What if?" and start asking "What now?"
In this powerful episode of Embracing The Fight, host Erica Lamar dives into the emotional weight of regret, fear, missed opportunities, and the courage it takes to begin again. From relationships we were too afraid to pursue… to jobs we were too scared to accept… to moments with loved ones we assumed we'd always have more time for — this episode challenges listeners to stop living life looking in the rearview mirror.
Erica opens this deeply personal conversation by reflecting on her own journey through thyroid cancer, divorce, unemployment, healing, survival, and growth. Through heartfelt storytelling and honest reflection, she explores how fear often becomes the silent partner of regret.
This episode includes: • The story of a person who let fear stop them from marrying the love of their life • A person who turned down a life-changing career opportunity and became trapped in mediocrity • A reminder to stop postponing joy, travel, connection, and meaningful time with the people you love • The inspiring story of Dylan and Ella — a couple who chose courage over fear and built a life with no regrets • Practical steps to forgive yourself, silence negative self-talk, rebuild confidence, and move forward boldly
"No Regrets" is for anyone who feels stuck in the past, burdened by mistakes, isolated by fear, or afraid to take the next step in life. Erica reminds listeners that your past may shape your story, but it does not have the power to define your future unless you allow it to.

Tonight on Embracing The Fight, we share a powerful story about grief, loneliness, mental health, human connection, and the unexpected ways healing can begin.
"The Healing Bench" is a reminder that sometimes the people smiling the hardest are fighting the silent battles nobody sees. In a world filled with distractions, isolation, anxiety, depression, loss, and emotional exhaustion… one simple conversation can change a life.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this episode encourages us to normalize checking in on one another, having meaningful conversations, and reminding people that they do not have to fight alone.
Healing does not always begin in a therapist's office. Sometimes healing starts with kindness, community, understanding, and simply sitting beside someone who needs to know they matter.
If you have ever struggled with grief, depression, loneliness, anxiety, burnout, feeling forgotten, or emotionally overwhelmed… this episode is for you.
💚 Remember: You are not alone. Your story is not over. And your healing may begin with one conversation.

Isolation became normal after COVID. For many people, it became safe. Comfortable. Convenient. Necessary.
But what happens when isolation stops being protection… and quietly becomes imprisonment?
In this powerful episode of Embracing The Fight, Erica Lamar dives deep into the emotional, psychological, and social effects of isolation in today's technology-driven world. Erica explores how society adapted to separation after the pandemic — replacing human connection with screens, text messages, social media, food delivery apps, remote work, and digital convenience. While technology has made life easier, she challenges listeners to ask: At what cost?
Drawing parallels to solitary confinement — one of the harshest forms of punishment known because of what prolonged isolation can do to the human mind — Erica opens an honest conversation about anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, unemployment, aging, heartbreak, rejection, and emotional withdrawal. She speaks directly to those who isolate as a defense mechanism… those who stopped going out after losing a job… those who avoid people because social interaction now feels overwhelming… and those who slowly disappeared into the comfort of being alone.
This episode is not about judgment. It is about grace. Healing. Reconnection. And learning how to step back into life again.
Erica shares practical and heartfelt encouragement on: • How to slowly reconnect with people after isolation • Overcoming social anxiety and fear of being around others • Why human fellowship is necessary for emotional wellness • How aging and life changes can unintentionally create loneliness • Rebuilding confidence outside of technology and social media • Why community, conversation, and human touch still matter • How to get "back out there" one step at a time
Sometimes healing starts with simply leaving the house. Taking a walk. Calling a friend. Going to church. Attending an event. Sitting in the park. Smiling at someone. Existing in community again.
Technology is a convenience — not a replacement for human connection.
If you've been feeling disconnected, emotionally exhausted, lonely, unseen, or trapped in your own thoughts… this episode is for you.
Give yourself grace. Give others grace. And get back out there.

🎙️ Overdiagnosis / Misdiagnosis: Why Your Voice Matters in Your Healing
In this episode of Embracing the Fight, we dive into a topic that affects millions of people but isn't talked about enough — overdiagnosis and misdiagnosis.
Too often, patients leave the doctor's office with a diagnosis but without the full story. Symptoms are rushed through. Details are forgotten. Pride, fear, or embarrassment keep us from saying everything we should. And sometimes, that leads to treating the wrong problem.
One of the most powerful things you can do for your health is write down your symptoms. Document what you feel, when you feel it, what triggers it, and how long it lasts. When you walk into an appointment prepared, you give your medical provider a clearer picture of what's really happening in your body.
Healing starts with honesty and clarity.
That also means being willing to share openly — even when it's uncomfortable. Pride has no place in the doctor's office. Your goal is not to look strong; your goal is to get well.
This conversation is especially important for parents.
Many children are diagnosed with ADHD, but in some cases the underlying condition may actually be autism spectrum disorder. While both conditions can share overlapping traits, the support strategies, therapies, and educational approaches can be very different.
When a child receives the wrong diagnosis, they may also receive the wrong tools for success.
That's why parent advocacy matters. Ask questions. Seek second opinions. Observe your child closely. And never be afraid to speak up when something doesn't feel right.
Your voice could be the difference between frustration and breakthrough for your child.
This episode is about understanding that your health journey is a partnership. Doctors bring medical expertise. But you bring the lived experience of your own body — or your child's behavior.
And when those two things come together with honesty, documentation, and advocacy, real healing becomes possible.
Because the truth is:
What you don't say can delay your healing.
But what you share openly can change everything.

In today's episode of Embracing the Fight, Erica Lamar opens an important and timely conversation about Autism—what it is, what it isn't, and why awareness must be rooted in understanding, not assumptions.
This episode was inspired by the recent controversy surrounding Mattel's release of an autistic Barbie, which sparked debate about representation and whether autism "has a look." Erica breaks down why that narrative misses the bigger picture and shares the powerful story of Precious Hill, an autistic mother raising autistic children, whose daughter Mikko inspired the doll. The Barbie was never meant to represent the entire autism spectrum—but to bring awareness, spark inclusion, and normalize accommodations like sensory headphones, autistic-friendly clothing, and alternative communication styles.
Erica also dives into:
Autism does not have a single look—but it does have lived experiences that deserve to be seen, heard, and respected.
Together, we have a better world.

💖 You're not alone—your healing starts here.
In this powerful and reflective episode of Embracing the Fight, titled "Windows," Erica pauses at the threshold of a new year. As December 31, 2025 comes to a close, she briefly begins to reflect on the year behind her—but is led to save the full Year in Review for the very first episode of 2026. Instead, she invites listeners into something just as meaningful: a conversation about windows—what they reveal, what they protect, and what they require of us.
Through a faith-centered and deeply personal lens, Erica explores several dimensions of windows:
✨ Biblical windows — the promise of God to open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings so abundant there isn't room to receive them. What does it really mean to live open, expectant, and prepared for overflow?
👁️ Eyes as windows to the soul — what we allow ourselves to see, what we refuse to see, and how discernment, truth, and vulnerability are often revealed through the eyes.
🚪 Windows of opportunity — those fleeting moments in life when courage, obedience, and timing intersect. Will you recognize the window when it opens? Will you have the faith to step toward it?
🪟 The windows we look through — the ones that require cleaning. Erica reminds us that if our windows are clouded by pain, fear, unhealed trauma, or outdated beliefs, we may misinterpret what's ahead. Sometimes clarity isn't about changing the future—it's about cleaning the lens through which we view it.
This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask yourself: What window is God opening for me? What window needs cleaning? And what blessing might I be blocking because I don't believe I have room to receive it?
As we close out 2025 together, Windows serves as a gentle but powerful reminder that preparation, perspective, and faith matter—especially when you're standing on the edge of something new.

In today's episode of Embracing the Fight, Erica dives deep into one of the most powerful healing tools we often avoid—transparency. The old folks used to say, "What's done in the dark will always come to the light." And they were right. Holding in pain, trauma, secrets, or shame doesn't protect us—it slowly destroys us from the inside. Transparency is the medicine that heals. Whether you reveal it to God, a trusted friend, a counselor, or even your journal, letting truth rise to the surface is how you stop imploding and start living. Today's episode lovingly challenges you to remove the mask, acknowledge what hurts, and step into the freedom that comes when you choose honesty over hiding. Your breakthrough is on the other side of your truth. 🎥

🔹 Emotional Intelligence & Coping Skills Teaching our children how to communicate, set boundaries, self-regulate, and process emotions is a form of wealth that transforms generations.
🔹 Stories, Lessons & Wisdom Your journey, your mistakes, your victories—they are priceless. When we fail to share them, the next generation starts from scratch. When we pass them on, they start with a blueprint.
🔹 Faith, Purpose & Resilience You can't leave money if you don't leave mindset. Strength, perseverance, and purpose-driven living are tools that help families thrive long after we're gone.
In this episode, we'll explore why these forms of generational wealth matter, how to preserve them, and how to start documenting your family's legacy today.
If your goal is to strengthen your family tree, secure your lineage, and build a legacy that lives beyond you—this episode is for you.

The conversation dives into scenarios where anger is felt but not processed, and Bronwyn offers practical guidance on how listeners can harness anger as a mirror, and a catalyst for self-awareness and boundary-setting.

Welcome back to Embracing the Fight! In this powerful episode, "Healing is not Weakness," we dive deep into why taking time to heal—mentally, physically, and emotionally—is never a sign of weakness.
So often, we rush ourselves to "get back to normal" because of how others may perceive us during our healing journey. But here's the truth: Healing is personal, necessary, and powerful. When you're sick or going through tough times, you will operate differently than you do when you're healthy—and that’s okay! Pushing yourself too soon can cause more harm than good.
This episode encourages you to release the pressure of outside opinions and focus on how you heal, not on how it looks to others. Remember, your healing is your business.
💪 Healing is strength. Healing is wisdom. Healing is love. 💪

In this powerful episode, Erica Lamar delivers a bold reminder: you don’t have to be perfect to pursue your purpose. Whether you’re launching a business, starting a podcast, or simply trying to make your voice heard — you just have to keep showing up.
💥 Stop waiting for the “perfect moment.” 💥 Stop hiding because your hair isn’t done or your plan isn’t polished. 💥 Your experiences, your truth, and your willingness to be seen are more than enough.
Erica shares why your consistency matters more than perfection, and how God can’t bless what you won’t bring to the table. If you’re not giving Him anything to work with, how can you expect a breakthrough?
🔥 Learn how ordinary people build extraordinary platforms — not because they’re experts, but because they showed up for themselves over and over again.
This episode is your push to: ✅ Step out of your comfort zone ✅ Stop comparing yourself to celebrities or polished influencers ✅ Start showing up authentically — even when it’s messy ✅ Understand that the seeds you sow in faith today will become your harvest tomorrow
💡 You are the message someone is waiting to hear. But they’ll never hear it if you don’t show up.

Do you want to be great? Can you lay your thoughts and feelings to the side? Can you limit the noise in your mind and heart to hear what God has for you? Are you realistically looking at what you have and setting yourself up for what you could have by leveraging that? This episode is a vulnerable look into Erica's current situation. Sure, she may not have millions, but she is perceived as "comfortable". Did you know that being comfortable and not knowing it is a disservice? That being comfortable can rob you of your dreams? Your success? Do you have someone you can talk to and be 100% vulnerable about your current situation? Or are you willing to just sit in it and hope for the best? If that is the case, you are robbing yourself of greatness. Find a vulnerability partner or support group. It will help with personal growth. When you grow personally, the impact can be seen professionally.

It is the holiday season. People are gathering around tables around the world to celebrate Thanksgiving. Some are not celebrating due to the premise of the holiday and the impact it has had on their culture. For those who do celebrate being thankful and not the demise of a culture, this message is for you. It appears to be customary to go around the table and state why you are thankful. My question is, why does it take a holiday to prompt the expression of gratitude? The kind gesture wasn't withheld until a certain time of year, why was the thank you? In this episode, Erica explores the reasons why people don't say thank you and the expectations of those who give the gift or assistance. Check it out!

When you are the one who is doing all the heavy lifting, soon you will find yourself alone. Alone to clean up, complete the work, mend the heartbreak, provide funding, or help protect selflessly. You are the strong one. Being strong doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't ask for help. This episode is designed to help others who are requesting so much of strong people and offering nothing in return. Reciprocation of some form can help the strong to continue to survive - mentally, emoitionally, and physically. Just because a person is willing and able to help you, doesn't give you the right to use them mercilessly. Episode 94: Only the Strong Survive talks about the different scenarios of the strong that eventually need assistance or replenishment.

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, in the wee hours of the morning, my beautiful Aunt Diane's soul took flight. She no longer has to feel the pain and sufferings of this world. She is healed. She is with the Father. Though her life appeared to be full of pain as of late, I must share that she never complained. She always lived life not worrying or speaking negatively about things she could not control. She trusted God and accepted what He allowed. She spoke into my life by living her life. She told me that life is too short to be unhappy. Too short to feel unfulfilled. She never understood why people allowed circumstances to paralyze them with fear, so much that they would rather stay where they were- than to explore the goodness that God had for them. This is why this episode is entitled "If Fear Wasn't a Factor". Fear wasn't a factor for her. She stopped chemo and said "Thy Will Be Done". She was tired. She was ready to be with God. She was not afraid. Will we ever reach a point in our lives where we become this fearless? Death is unknown, but she knew that what God promised is far greater than the pain she was experiencing on this side. What would you do, become, or pursue if fear wasn't a factor? Rest in Peace Auntie. Will always love you.

Why does how a person feel about themselves projected into their decisions? Healing and self love need to occur before the wrong choices are made. If you are in a place where you cannot see anything other than self hate, extract yourself from there. Hate only begets hate. The greatest gift you can give yourself is one of self love. If you look in the mirror and see anything other than greatest and beauty, there is a deep rooted pain you must unearth. It didn't occur overnight and may not be healed overnight. But you must be willing to bring this to the light. In this episode, Erica brings several examples of what self hate looks like and how to conquer it with self love. She also gives an update concerning her health journey through thyroid cancer and what she has been doing to improve her health.

You are beautiful. Intelligence is the epitome of your being. You love STEM related fields, subjects, and education. You master them all. But imagine being a young woman, starting out underpaid in these industries. Then place her in one of the most affluent areas to live. We sometimes do things for survival and bear the cost of living behind the mask. This is the triumphant story of Amy Taylor, a STEM graduate, former STEM employee, model, and eventual pilot who survives the stigma of being a former sex worker. Because this is a sensitive subject, any unruly or negative comments will be removed. Amy was gracious and transparent enough to share her entire story. People walk around judging people who share their truths, all the while they are hiding behind theirs. God loves all of us and expects us to love one another. In this episode of Embracing the Fight, Erica dives into the conversation concerning weight loss. There are so many quick fixes to these issues that people are migrating toward that, rather than healing the source of the problem. The center of your health lies in your gut. This is where you have to start to heal in order to correct the issues and diseases that stem from a leaky gut or an upset condition in the microbiome within your gut system. I am also a part of the #lovebiome community. And I hope you find this message helpful. Are you feeling like your best self? If not, what are you eating? Healthy living starts in your gut. What you consume has the opportunity to upset or rest the microbiome in your gut. What is a microbiome? It is a community of microorganisms that can be found living together in any given habitat. You gut is a habitat that contains healthy and unhealthy bacteria that require balance. If upset, diseases and other illnesses can occur. What can you do to combat this? Glad you asked! Join me on September 5, 2024 at 6:00 pm to dive deeper into how to reset your gut naturally and understand the benefits from doing so.

There are times when things bring us discomfort and we shrug them off. We do not address what is causing the issue or the pain. We find ourselves slipping into a place of comfort and allow this discomfort to become normal. Is it human nature to accept anything from anyone? What about our eating habits? Do we eat because we are hungry - regardless of the nutritional value? That being the case, how do we maintain a healthy weight if this is normal? If a person who loves you ridicules you and smiles, is this ok? No, it is not. Because it is not, then you must take a personal stand against these things when they begin to happen. In this episode of Embracing the FIght, Erica helps you to look at things differently to determine if this is normal or not. Take a listen!

I am Erica Lamar the digital creator and host of Embracing the Fight. I have found that people do not openly speak about physical and mental health issues or concerns. There is so much fear surrounding judgment and subsequent retaliation when an illness is revealed. The thought of someone knowing that there is something wrong is paralyzing for most. Let me open the conversation, as I battle thyroid cancer. I will encourage transparently and faithfully along my journey. This is only the beginning, as disease has no respect for race, gender, religion, or creed. Tune in every Wednesday at 6:00 pm EST as we normalize the discussions that will help all people to embrace their personal fight. Hope to see you there.
