Threshold Moments is a podcast about people who follow their hearts to lead their most authentic lives. Along the way they will cross over some thresholds in which it is clear that what once worked, no longer works. The next version is awaiting. The path is unknown. And safety structures will fall alway.
Once a week, you can expect to hear from incredible guests about the moments that forever changed them. They’ll share their messy middles, the things they can now laugh at in retrospect, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and the freedom they’ve found by following the pull.
You’ll hear about a variety of navigation tools:
Some of my guests rely on breathing, fitness, or hot/cold therapy. Some track the moon, their menstrual cycles, their mind set, or sensations in their bodies. Others attune to nature, their spiritual team, and/or dreams. Others use psychedelic medicine and or psychotherapy.
No matter the tools, threshold moments tend to be ripe w/ heartbreak, excitement, fear, and possibility. Therefore this podcast is also about companionship because being accompanied and witnesses on the way through can be the most essential layer of support our nervous system and psyches can receive during a time of uncertainty and reclamation.
I started this podcast because I deeply honor the full cycle or transformation, not just the sparkly ends. I think it’s inspiring. And, it lets us know we’re not alone on this journey home.
My hope is that you will feel that in your bones: you. Are. not. Alone. You are in great company.
How do you know when it's time to let go of a version of yourself that once worked?
In this rich and deeply reflective conversation, Sarah sits down with returning guest Sara Avant Stover to discuss the seasons of life that require us to slow down, dismantle old identities, and listen more closely to what wants to emerge.
Since their last conversation, Sara has experienced a profound period of transformation. She stepped away from a thriving business, deleted social media, got married, moved to France, navigated grief, and entered perimenopause—all while learning to trust a slower, more sustainable pace.
Together, Sarah and Sara explore Internal Family Systems (IFS), intuition, nervous system regulation, entrepreneurship, self-trust, and why healing often looks far less dramatic than we imagine.
They also discuss the cultural differences between American productivity and the French art de vivre—the art of living—and how learning to value rest, pleasure, and spaciousness can become its own form of healing.
If today's episode resonates, go back and listen to witness the earlier threshold where this journey began.

What do a child's missing tooth, a broken steering wheel in the middle of the ocean, and nervous system regulation have in common?
In this Mini Musing, Sarah explores one of the most foundational nervous system tools: orientation.
When we're activated, our world tends to shrink. We become convinced that what's happening now will last forever, that there are only bad options available, or that we need to fix everything immediately. Orientation helps widen our perspective and reconnect us to what's true, stable, and supportive in the present moment.
Through stories of parenting, personal transformation, and an unexpected boating mishap off the coast of Maine, Sarah shares how orienting can help us move from panic and overwhelm into possibility and grounded action.
Whether you're navigating a major life transition, feeling stuck in uncertainty, or simply looking for practical nervous system tools, this episode offers a simple practice that can help you find your footing.
In this episode: * What "orientation" means in nervous system work * Why activation narrows our perspective * The surprising wisdom of a gap-toothed child * How life transitions often mirror natural cycles * A real-life story of losing steering at sea * Learning to identify layers of support during uncertainty * How childhood experiences shape what we perceive as danger * Moving from all-or-nothing thinking into possibility * Practical ways to orient to safety, support, and stability * A closing prayer for widening perspective and trusting ourselves

What happens when you stop outsourcing your worth and finally learn to trust your own voice?
In this deeply honest conversation, Sarah sits down with voice trainer, author, and podcast host Vasavi Kumar to explore the transformative power of speaking your truth. Together they unpack the hidden cost of suffering in silence, emotional perfectionism, people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, grief, recovery, and the journey back to self-trust.
Vasavi shares her personal story—from childhood bullying and addiction to recovery, relationships, loss, and ultimately finding the freedom that comes from radical self-honesty. She offers practical tools for moving through rumination, regulating emotions, navigating conflict, and accessing what she calls the "Feeling, Friend, and Sage" voices within.
This conversation is an invitation to stop abandoning yourself, start listening to your inner wisdom, and discover the clarity that emerges when you finally say it out loud.
In This Episode, We Discuss: * Why suffering in silence keeps us disconnected from ourselves * The difference between rumination and healthy processing * How speaking out loud can help regulate emotions * Emotional perfectionism and conflict avoidance * Learning to identify and interrupt old patterns * The connection between voice, nervous system regulation, and self-trust * Healing people-pleasing and validation-seeking behaviors * Grief, identity shifts, and reclaiming personal power * The "Feeling, Friend, and Sage" framework for self-awareness * Why clarity grows when we stop emotionally babysitting others
About the Guest Vasavi Kumar is a Voice Trainer, Therapist, and Founder of The Out Loud School — a training ground helping entrepreneurs sell, speak, and show up on camera without shrinking. She is also the author of Say It Out Loud and a former TV host with 16 years of entrepreneurship behind her.

In this solo episode of Threshold Moments, we explore the powerful relationship between vision and the nervous system. Most of the sensory information entering our brains is visual, yet stress can dramatically narrow our field of awareness, creating both physical and psychological tunnel vision.
When we enter fight-or-flight states, our gaze often becomes fixed, our attention narrows, and our ability to perceive new options decreases. This episode offers three simple practices designed to help expand awareness, support nervous system regulation, and create a greater sense of safety and possibility.
You'll learn:
These practices can be used throughout the day, especially during periods of stress, overwhelm, screen fatigue, or when you feel stuck in repetitive thinking patterns.
Take a breath, expand your view, and discover how changing what—and how—you see can influence the way you feel.

In this deeply expansive conversation, Sarah Tacy sits down with creative director and co-founder of the Prism House, Kristin Burgess, to trace the long arc of a relationship that began at the very start of Kristin's wedding planning career and unfolds into a story of identity, creativity, partnership, motherhood, and personal truth.
What begins as a nostalgic return to Kristin planning Sarah's wedding quickly opens into a much larger exploration of thresholds—those quiet, often disorienting moments where life asks us to outgrow who we've been.
Kristin reflects on the early days of building her wedding business while working full-time, the instinctive trust that shaped her creative path, and the evolution from wedding design into storytelling for brands through The Prism House. Along the way, she shares how motherhood, partnership, and creative expansion reshaped everything she thought she knew about capacity, identity, and leadership.
The conversation deepens as Kristin speaks candidly about burnout, over-functioning, and the long process of shifting out of survival-driven patterns shaped in childhood. She names the moment she began to move from constant doing into creative clarity—and how that shift quietly changed her marriage, her work, and her sense of self.
A pivotal part of this episode is Kristin's time in a remote A-frame in Vermont, a self-imposed retreat that became a turning point for reflection, grief, and truth-telling. From there, she shares the unfolding of a major life transition, including divorce, the complexity of love, and what it means to choose alignment even when it disrupts everything familiar.
At its core, this episode is about:
Sarah and Kristin also explore the tension between truth and belonging, and how identity shifts can reshape relationships, community, and creativity in unexpected ways.
This is a conversation about endings that are also beginnings—and the quiet, irreversible moment when you start living from what is real now.

When people hear nervous system work, they often imagine something slow, dry, or even boring. But what if healing wasn't about forcing yourself to sit still—and what if regulation could actually feel alive?
In this solo episode, Sarah Tacy demystifies nervous system work and shares why slowing down isn't the opposite of vitality—it's the pathway to it. Drawing from her weekly movement class inside Juice, Sarah walks through the practices that help women move from depletion and over-functioning into greater expression, stability, and joy.
From lubrication and balance work to playful release, receiving, and community, she explains why nervous system healing doesn't have to be serious to be transformative.
Sarah also explores why many of us resist slowing down, how our default patterns lead to burnout, and why small, doable steps matter more than getting it "right."
In this episode, Sarah explores: * Why slowing down can feel uncomfortable—and why that matters * How fast-paced living reinforces old patterns * The connection between people-pleasing and burnout * Why nervous system work doesn't have to be boring * The role of movement, expression, and pleasure in healing * Building stability when life feels uncertain * Learning to receive support instead of always giving * Moving from "I'm okay when you're okay" to "I'm okay when I'm okay" * Why boundaries become easier when you're resourced * How small, sustainable practices create lasting change

What if understanding your menstrual cycle could transform not only your relationship with yourself—but your parenting, partnership, and entire household?
In this deeply practical and eye-opening conversation, Sarah sits down with women's hormone health practitioner Kate Nguy to explore how chronic stress, the invisible mental load, and nervous system dysregulation impact women's hormones throughout midlife.
Kate shares her personal journey through burnout, perimenopause, grief, and overwhelm, and how those experiences led her to create a radically different way of living—one that honors the natural rhythms of the female body instead of fighting against them.
Together, Sarah and Kate discuss cyclical living beyond the clichés, including the color-coded family calendar that helps Kate's children understand her changing needs, supports healthier communication at home, and teaches body literacy from an early age.
This episode is a powerful invitation to stop treating yourself as a machine and start listening to the wisdom your body has been offering all along.
In This Episode, We Explore: * Why burnout is often rooted in chronic stress and invisible labor * The connection between hormones, nervous system regulation, and emotional capacity * What cyclical living actually looks like in everyday family life * How different phases of the menstrual cycle affect communication, energy, and boundaries * Why ovulation can be an ideal time for difficult conversations * The hidden gifts of the luteal phase and the role of discernment * Raising hormone-literate children and normalizing conversations about periods * Supporting daughters through puberty with body awareness instead of shame * Teaching sons emotional literacy through cycle awareness * The "invisible agreements" many women carry in relationships—and why they often surface in perimenopause * How grief, caregiving, and stress can accelerate burnout * Creating practical systems of support that honor changing needs throughout the month
About Kate Nguy Kate Nguy is a Certified Women's Hormone Health Practitioner and the founder of Shee Revival, a women's hormone health practice specializing in helping women in midlife understand that the chronic stress and invisible load they carry are the primary drivers of their PMS, perimenopause, and burnout. She is the creator of the Hormone R.E.S.T. Method, the host of the What the HORMONES podcast, and a burnout survivor who rebuilt her own hormonal health from the inside out. Her work bridges clinical hormone science with nervous system regulation and cyclical living frameworks in a way that helps women finally understand what has been happening in their bodies — and what to actually do about it.

What if more is supporting you than you realize?
In this mini-musing, Sarah reflects on an art installation she encountered over twenty years ago that transformed the way she understands effort, support, and nervous system regulation. Inspired by an assignment asking students to notice what was "75% done without their effort," this episode becomes an exploration of the unseen forces that sustain us every day. In a world where we are often asked to do more than we feel is possible, widening out to include all that is being done without our effort can be wildly stabilizing.
Through stories of lint in the dryer, changing seasons, organ systems, pregnancy, spring growth, and the intelligence of the natural world, Sarah invites listeners to widen their perspective beyond survival mode and hyper-responsibility.
When we live as though everything depends entirely on us, our nervous systems tighten, our stress increases, and our perception narrows. But when we begin noticing the "unearned majority" — the countless processes already unfolding without our management — something in the body softens.
This episode is a gentle reminder that while responsibility is real, we are not alone in carrying life.
In this episode, Sarah explores: * The nervous system impact of believing "it's all on me" * An art project that changed Sarah's perspective on effort and support * The "unearned majority" happening all around us * How widening perception can help regulate the body * Reticular activating systems and survival-based attention * The miracle of bodily processes we never consciously manage * Nature, seasons, and the intelligence already unfolding around us * The balance between personal responsibility and surrender * Simple orienting practices for grounding and regulation * Finding your own everyday reminder that you are supported

In this deeply reflective conversation, Sarah Tacy sits down with Therese Jornlin to explore a life shaped by threshold moments—those irreversible openings that change how reality is perceived and lived.
Therese shares her early experiences of profound awakening following the sudden death of her father at age 15, describing a piercing sense of love, continuity, and the dissolution of fear around death. From there, her life unfolds as a series of inner calls that eventually lead her to Calcutta at age 21, where she lives and serves alongside the Missionaries of Charity.
In Calcutta, Therese encounters the raw edges of human suffering and devotion—an experience that strips away narrative, identity, and mental certainty. What remains is presence, service, and an embodied confrontation with what it means to be alive in a world of profound disparity.
Together, Sarah and Therese explore:
This episode weaves together mysticism and embodiment, service and systems, collapse and coherence—returning again and again to one central thread: learning by living.
If today's episode resonates, go back and listen to witness the earlier threshold where this journey began.

What if losing tolerance isn't a problem, but an invitation to be more sensitive to our truths? And, if we do take active measures (through hormone support or nervous system work) to improve our range of tolerance, can we use that to stay steady in our selves while standing up for what really matters?
In this mini-musing, Sarah explores the deeper meaning of "tolerance" through the lenses of perimenopause, nervous system regulation, relationships, hormones, breathwork, and emotional truth. As many women move through midlife and begin noticing less patience for what once felt manageable, Sarah asks an important question: are these shifts something to support so they don't feel so hard, or a threshold to really to listen to? Or, perhaps is there a sacred third where we can find support and keep our sensitivity to truth.
This conversation weaves together the science of estrogen, CO2 tolerance, nervous system capacity, relational dynamics, and emotional authenticity; all pointing toward a deeper inquiry about truth, integrity, and what happens when our bodies stop helping us override ourselves.
Rather than framing increased sensitivity as dysfunction, Sarah invites us to consider how support, regulation, and greater capacity might help us attune more honestly to our lives instead of bypassing what's real.
In this episode, Sarah explores: * Perimenopause and changing emotional tolerance * The relationship between estrogen, mood, and relational appeasement * Why many women begin reassessing relationships and patterns in midlife * The difference between bypassing discomfort and building capacity * Window of tolerance, nervous system regulation, and resonance * CO2 tolerance and how breath affects clarity, stress, and emotional regulation * How hormones influence perception and emotional intensity * Why increased support should help us access truth — not suppress it * The connection between authenticity, boundaries, and integrity * Learning to respond to whispers before life requires a "Mack truck" moment

What happens after the dream comes true? OR when your dream didn't quite come true, but other beautiful realities appeared that you could not have imagined? And what happens when success still asks more of your nervous system, your body, and your spirit than you expected?
In this deeply reflective third conversation with returning guest Amina AlTai, Sarah and Amina explore the tender realities of life after a major threshold, from launching a bestselling book to navigating burnout, ambition, existential questioning, and the ongoing practice of staying resourced in an overwhelming world.
Amina shares honestly about the hidden emotional terrain of book launches, the pressure of metrics and expectations, and how she had to embody the exact teachings from her book The Ambition Trap throughout the process. Together, Sarah and Amina unpack nervous system care, rest, recovery, identity, over-responsibility, and the ways many of us are quietly asking: "What is the point of all of this?"
This conversation is both grounding and expansive, a reminder that we do not have to hold the entire world alone, and that there are ways to remain deeply engaged without abandoning ourselves in the process.
Amina first joined Sarah in season one for a heartfelt conversation on burnout, codependency, and the hidden ways ambition can disconnect us from ourselves. She returned in season three to explore regenerative ambition, nervous system healing, and redefining success in a culture driven by urgency and overwork. If today's episode resonates, go back and listen to witness the evolution of Amina's work—and the deeper layers of these conversations unfolding over time.

In this heartfelt Q&A episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy and parenting educator Wendy Snyder dive deeper into the realities of parenting sensitive, strong-willed, and emotionally expressive children.
Through live coaching conversations with members of the Juice community, Wendy shares practical tools and compassionate reframes for navigating co-sleeping, separation anxiety, power struggles, "bossy" behavior, emotional regulation, and parenting as a team.

This conversation is filled with wisdom for parents learning how to regulate themselves while raising children who challenge, mirror, and deeply transform them.
In This Episode, We Explore: * Understanding "inadequacy behavior" and separation anxiety * Why sensitive children often need encouragement instead of rescue * The difference between praise and encouragement * Parenting strong-willed and outspoken daughters without shame * How labels like "bossy" and "mean" create suffering * What to do when you truly don't know how to respond * Nervous system regulation during parenting conflict * Co-parenting when one partner is more invested in the work * How connection changes difficult conversations * Why children's behavior often mirrors our own healing journey

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with parenting educator and family life coach Wendy Snyder to explore a transformative shift in how we understand children's behavior, nervous system regulation, and the dynamics of power in the parent-child relationship.
Wendy introduces a radically different framework for parenting strong-willed children; moving away from punishment, shame, and control, and toward connection, compassion, and what she calls "democratic firm and kind parenting."
Together, Sarah and Wendy unpack what it really means when a child resists, pushes back, or escalates—and how those moments can be seen not as defiance, but as communication.
They also explore how parenting becomes a mirror for our own nervous system patterns, why repair matters more than perfection, and how breaking generational cycles often requires both courage and practice in real-time, imperfect moments.
In This Episode, We Explore: * What "strong-willed" actually means (and why it's often misunderstood) * The difference between authoritarian, permissive, and democratic parenting * Why misbehavior is often communication—not defiance * How nervous system regulation changes parenting responses * Tools for dissolving power struggles without punishment or shame * Why repair after rupture is essential for both parent and child development * How children learn emotional intelligence through modeled conflict resolution * What it looks like to raise kids who can take responsibility without fear * Sibling conflict as a skill-building opportunity, not a problem to eliminate

Most nervous system conversations start at the bottom — trauma, shutdown, survival mode. This one starts in the middle. That in-between place where you have done real work, you can see the progress, and somehow it still feels harder than you thought it would by now.
In this episode I sat down live with my Juice members (a nervous system reset- movement membership) for a Q&A conversation with Elisabeth Kristof. She is the founder of Neurosomatic Intelligence, co-host of the Apple Top 100 podcast Trauma Rewired, and one of the leading voices applying neurology to complex trauma resolution. Elisabeth has been working in neuro and movement based therapies since 2007, and what she brings to this conversation is both the science and the lived humanity of it.
We go into what it actually looks like to heal in real time. The burnout. The rebuilding. The cycles of expansion and contraction that nobody warns you about. The difference between regulating your emotions and suppressing them. And why resourcing sometimes opens the door to more feeling, not less.
If you have ever wondered why this work takes as long as it does, this conversation will make you feel less alone in that question, and more oriented inside the process.
Together, we explore what it actually looks like to live this work in real time, moving beyond theory into the lived, messy, human experience of nervous system healing.
This conversation weaves science and story, physiology and poetry, as we explore:
You'll hear powerful reflections on liminal space, rehabilitation, and the slow return to aliveness—along with an honest look at how long this work can take, and why that's not a failure, but part of the process.

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with Elisabeth Kristof, founder of Brain-Based Wellness and Neuro Somatic Intelligence (NSI), and co-host of the podcast Trauma Rewired. Together, they explore the intersection of applied neurology, somatic practices, and nervous system rehabilitation for personal growth and healing.
In this episode, Sarah's focus on subtle somatic presence and co-regulation meets Elisabeth's applied neurology tools for practical, everyday nervous system support. They discuss:
Whether you're interested in somatics, applied neurology, or nervous system wellness, this conversation offers insights for anyone looking to understand their body's responses, create lasting change, and live more fully in their own nervous system.
More on Elisabeth: Elisabeth Kristof is an MA in Applied Neurology, somatic practitioner, and co-host of the Apple Top 100 podcast Trauma Rewired. Working in neuro- and movement-based therapies since 2007, she has become a leading voice in applying neurology to complex trauma resolution. After witnessing the harm that can occur when practitioners lack nervous system literacy, Elisabeth created the Neurosomatic Intelligence Coaching Certification to train coaches in safe, precise trauma-informed work. She is also the founder of Brain-Based Wellness, an online platform dedicated to helping people retrain their nervous systems, resolve old patterns, and increase resilience and performance.

In this special Q&A episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy is joined by financial strategist Kaitlyn Carlson for an honest, grounded conversation with members of the JUICE community.
Kaitlyn Carlson is the founder of Theory Planning Partners a wealth building firm. She brings experience from advising some of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in America. Kaitlyn's work blends financial mastery with intuition, action with intention, and strategy with sustainability — offering a grounded, empowering perspective on wealth that benefits both visionary founders and everyday high achievers who want to grow their money wisely and well.
Together, they explore what it really looks like to stand at a personal threshold, the moment where authenticity calls you forward but certainty hasn't arrived yet.
Through live audience questions, Kaitlyn shares the behind-the-scenes reality of leaving a stable but soul sucking job to build something new. What she would do differently if she were to go back, and what small internal shifts create lasting transformation, and why financial systems, and our relationship to money, may be more expansive than we've been taught to believe.
Also can capitalism really be regenerative?
This conversation moves beyond mindset into practical, emotional, and philosophical territory: from trusting inner whispers to redefining capitalism, building sustainable business foundations, and taking the first doable steps toward financial stability (doing something is better than doing nothing!).
If you've ever felt the pull toward a new version of yourself but wondered how people actually make the leap, this episode offers both reassurance and real-world guidance.
In This Episode, We Explore: * What it means to stand at a threshold of authenticity * The "micro inner movements" that create big life changes * Why courage often looks messy, uncertain, and incremental * Trusting intuition while still making practical decisions * Meditation as a tool for clarity and nervous system regulation * Surrounding yourself with people who can hold belief for you * Building frameworks that create sustainable transformation * A new perspective on regenerative capitalism * Moving from scarcity thinking to value creation * Beginner-friendly first steps toward investing and financial stability

In this episode of Threshold Moments, Sarah Tacy sits down with wealth strategist and financial planner Kaitlyn Carlson for a deeply personal conversation about identity, integrity, and redefining success.
Kaitlyn Carlson is the founder of Theory Planning Partners who once upon a time advised some of the wealthiest men in America, but stepped in a new direction to stay devoted to a way of higher integrity.
After seeing how the biggest players in the game were positioned for exponential wealth creation, and the financial advisors making plans to benefit themselves, and the abuse she experienced as a woman in that field, she felt called to build a model rooted in greater transparency, deep care, and long-term stewardship.
What begins as a story about an unexpected friendship unfolds into a powerful exploration of what it means to live beyond binary choices — between ambition and alignment, structure and intuition, achievement and freedom.
Kaitlyn shares her journey from a fiercely competitive childhood athlete and national championship hockey player to a successful career in finance, revealing how early experiences shaped her belief in equality, resilience, and possibility. Along the way, she discovered that true wealth isn't just financial — it's emotional, relational, and deeply personal.
Together, Sarah and Kaitlyn explore the idea of the "sacred third" — a path that exists beyond the traditional either/or choices many high-achieving women feel forced to make.
This conversation dives into the psychology of money, the importance of representation and opportunity, and how integrity becomes the foundation for both financial freedom and personal joy.
In this episode, we explore: * Kaitlyn's journey from competitive hockey to wealth strategy * Growing up believing opportunity should be equal — and living that belief * How sports shaped resilience, confidence, and leadership * The intersection of psychology and financial decision-making * The concept of the Freedom Number and redefining wealth * Integrity as a guiding principle in business and life * Moving beyond patriarchal success models * Creating a "sacred third" path between ambition and authenticity

Today's episode is for you if you're in the midst of a threshold and wondering how you'll make it through.
When certain parts of our identity are stripped away, we go into the fertile void. In that space, we may not be able to find the rhyme or reason why it's happening, but I promise that the darkness enriches us all the same.
Join me as I dip into the past decade of my practice and offer reflections on how to feels to be in the middle and make it to the other side. I also share thoughts on pausing and the future of this show.

I once heard from a teacher that awe might be one of the first reflexes we have as babies: eyes wide, breath held in wonder, taking in the world for the very first time.
I haven't found a study to prove it, but it feels true—the impulse to point, to name, to exclaim, "Look at that! And that over there!" The small hand tugging toward something marvelous, seemingly ordinary, yet entirely new.
Where trauma narrows our world, awe expands it. It brings our breath into the back body, our perspective into wholeness.
Awe is an invitation to pause and ask: is there anything ordinary that for a moment I could honor as extraordinary?
In this episode, I share a personal story where I embraced awe and how it changed my perspective on everyday life.

Many of my clients come to me craving calm — slower mornings, quieter children, less chaos in their day-to-day.
That sense of peace is a beautiful goal, but I also like to remind them: calm alone isn't the full picture of nervous system regulation.
In this episode, we explore the pendulum between safety and activation — how to embrace life's natural rhythms, rather than resist them. I also offer reframes for resonance, aliveness, and the tidal waves of life.
Tune in for an invitation to get curious about living in range. Life isn't just about calm. That's only one stop on the journey.

Welcome back to Threshold Moments. Today we’re continuing our exploration of nervous system resilience with the transformative power small doable pieces.
Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed or find ourselves in a trauma response, we slip into all-or-nothing thinking. But typically all we need to do is take one step forward to create nourishing momentum.
Brigit Viksnins calls this "small doable pieces." And in this episode, I share how this practice works and a few ways that small doable pieces have transformed my business, my parenting, and my life.
So if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, underwater, or unable to move forward, I hope you’ll tune in to learn:

This week on Threshold Moments we’re doing something a little different.
Instead of releasing a heartfelt interview with a brilliant, soul-centered guest, I’m sharing my own story and offering an introduction to the life-changing work of healing your nervous system.
For the first time, I’m speaking about how a painful back injury led me on a powerful healing journey toward doing so. much. less.
Eventually that guided me toward mind-body-spirit integration through yoga. And I built a very successful business… that I eventually dismantled as I moved through the sleepless portal of becoming a mother.
Now I'm excited to share my story and offer my first nervous system healing program.

What does life look like when we start to notice our emotions as messengers instead of over-identifying with them?
In today’s Mini Musing, I’m exploring this question from both a scientific and a spiritual perspective. I share Candace Pert’s work on the molecules of emotion, and I ask what it might mean to change the vibration of our cells while honoring our feelings as they arrive.
Then I revisit a recent episode of the Twelfth House podcast about archetype embodiment, and I explore how we might try on new archetypes to amplify different energies in our day-to-day lives.

Welcome, dear listeners. In this episode, I’m speaking with one of my beloved teachers, Brigit Viksnins.
Brigit is a life partner, a stepmother, mother, and grandmother. She is the creator of the international training program Alchemical Alignment, which is protocol-free, spirit-led, experiential somatic modality that draws on a range of bodywork traditions that she has trained in and is deeply experienced in.
Bridget is also a first-generation Latvian-American from a lineage of healers, midwives, authors, and teachers. Her parents fled from their homeland during World War II, becoming refugee immigrant children under bombs and in the displaced persons camps on their way to the USA. Now Brigit regularly travels to post-Soviet Latvia to relate to the land, eat traditional foods, steep in the wisdom, arts, and crafts of her ancestors, and also share her skills.
Together, Brigit and I have an open, unfolding conversation about trauma resolution, ancestral patterns, stabilizing our nervous systems, calming through co-resonance, and self-love as a relational practice. We also discuss:
This conversation is full of wisdom, and I hope you’ll listen with an open heart, then visit the Alchemical Alignment website to learn more about any topics you aren’t familiar with.

Welcome, dear ones. In today’s mini musing, I explore widening our perspective, finding our center, and chakra meditations for self-connection.
I begin by revisiting my reflections on widening and discussing the power of expanding our perspective to help us regulate our system and alleviate feelings of anxiety or threat. Then I explore the importance of narrowing in and finding our center, as both expansion and contraction are necessary for balance and healing.
To support you in returning to center, I share a hand motion and meditation taught to me by Brigit Viksnins and Karen Kenney.
Join me to learn an embodied practice for moving from wide to center, where we’ll travel the chakras together from our crown to our root and back again.

In this week’s Mini Musing, I share reflections on the far-reaching impacts of widening our posture, as well as our mental and visual perspective.
I draw on Amy Cuddy’s research on power postures and how we can actually change our hormonal composition, our chance at getting a job, and the likeliness that we’ll take a risk.
I also reflect on how one-on-one somatic sessions will often use the widening of awareness when visiting traumatic history. And at the end of the episode, we play with how taking a wider visual perspective alters your breath, posture, and nervous system.

Welcome, dear ones.
This week we have with us Kristin Bosteels, a woman who has faced life and death multiple times. Her roots are deeper and wider than anything that can be taken from her. She is a well-practiced yogi, a disciple of mindset, and a human on a journey back to herself.
Kristin teaches Yoga on the Inside. Her passion lies in teaching and sharing the therapeutic benefits of yoga with those in need, and using yoga to soften her experience and that of others.
Kristin’s ongoing journey of living with cancer has been an aggressive and enlightening one. But, as she shares with us, she takes a unique approach to managing her diagnosis — choosing to be an anomaly and taking a multi-dimensional approach to her care. In this episode, Kristin also shares the beauty of opening herself up, asking for help, and allowing other people to be a part of her healing, even when it’s difficult to do.

Welcome, friends. In today’s episode, I’m reflecting on creating the conditions for more easeful nervous system regulation and how we know that healing is happening.
I talk about the Activation Map by Peter Levine, which was updated into the “Three Directions Map,” by Brigit Viskins to include looping. When activation occurs we may have the ability to distract and sooth back down to stabilization, the first direction. We may find ourselves looping in dysregulation, the second direction. Finally, there may be a possibility to go higher into activation without looping and come all the way down to the other side toward completion, integration, and extinction; this is the third direction.
Creating conditions can help support us to move through the entire process. Creating conditions and integrating these new patterns may happen in small pieces over time.
Join me as we explore our somatic experiences and the power of pause, choice, community, distance, self-care and boundary repair as conditions for well-being.

Hello, everyone!
Today, I will be talking about the Five Point Sequence, with a focus on the first point: Preparation.
How does your past inform how you currently build preparation into your life?
I talk about the power of having a coherent preparation pattern, and how through somatic work we can go back on the timeline (timeline repair) and update and rewire patterning toward something that feels supportive and cohesive.
In the end I share with you my inquiry around biohacking for longevity. What is hyper-preparation (over-efforting control and forgetting to live life while you have it now), and what is coherent preparation? To support these thoughts I offer two poems, one by Max Ehrmann and the other by David Whyte.
Let’s dive in!
In this Episode you’ll learn:
• [02:10] The Five Point Sequence by Ray Castellino and used in Alchemical Alignment
• [05:40] Building Preparation into life
• [10:33] Trauma physiology and preparation.
• [15:03] Doing timeline repair to rewire and update patterns in the nervous system.
• [17:10] Is biohacking for longevity hyper preparation or just preparation?
• [21:44] Desiderata, by Max Ehrmann.
• [25:34] What to Remember When Waking, by David Whyte.
• [30:26] Takeaways from this episode.

The inquiry at the end is about finding our sovereignty while being a part of an ecosystem. Let’s dive in! In this Episode you’ll learn: + [02:30] Creation and Destruction. + [03:00] Disempowerment Triangle: Victim, Perpetrator, and Savior
- Victim: the one who is destroyed, or experiences death
- Perpetrator: The one who destroys or kills
- Savior: The one who tries to save the victim (perhaps keeping a new phase of creation from emerging)+ [03:34] Slow health for creation and destruction.
- Mediation- killing off some ideas in order to give room for new ideas.+ [04:01] Medium health for creation and destruction.
- The microbiome- Our bodies are killing off bacteria that hurt our ecosystem in order to create health and opportunity for the ones we want to thrive.+ [05:09] Fast health for creation and destruction.
- Athletes want to beat or destroy other teams so we can win/exist/move on. Or a courtroom debate in which you want to destroy one perspective so another can survive.+ [05:39] Existence.
- In relationship to others. When a sibling comes along, does the oldest one feel threatened? Does the first child feel like they need to annihilate the incoming child in order to survive?
- If parents and children get enough layers of support is it possible that there is a healthy co-existence in which they thrive in their age appropriate roles?+ [08:08] Processing thoughts out loud.
- The first time I decided I would get up in front of a group.
- When sharing in groups has a positive ripple effect
- Group Dynamics, the ones who participate and the ones that do not.+ [10:25] Taking the path of sovereignty. The path to sovereignty is to exist no matter another’s response to us.
- n a balanced state we don’t have to wait for another to accept us or the space we inhabit. AND we can be mindful of the ecosystem we live in.+ [12:23] The Empowerment Triangle.
- “The perpetrator” who would be the destroyer, abuser, or the killer, becomes “the challenger.” I challenge you to grow, to notice your own existence.
- “The victim” becomes “the creative,” and gathers resources to find a new way through.
- “The savior” can be “the coach” or an ally. They are there to witness, support and possibly to hold the tension field while the challenge gets alchemized.+ [13:15] It’s no longer an all or nothing. It’s no longer total exile, annihilation or destruction of self. There’s a sustainable middle place. We can destroy parts that no longer serve in order to update ourselves toward our blueprint. Quotes:
+ “As we grow more into our authentic selves, and as we grow in our capacity to be stable as somebody says something or does something that might normally exile us, we are growing in our capacity to be in this tension field. We can exist even as somebody else is having hard feelings that might be towards us, something about our very existence that might trigger them. We have the capacity to exist anyway. And that this is part of the path of sovereignty.” – Sarah
+ “Destruction doesn't have to be of my whole self, it does not have to be of my existence, but it can be of parts of myself that could be updated.” – Sarah
+ “We are working to be our sovereign selves in the face of great difficulty in which another person is not working on their awakening. We choose to do so anyway.” -Sarah Links Mentioned: Connect with Sarah: Website:

In this Mini Musings episode I share with you the map that inspired Threshold Moments. The Cycle of Awareness map was created by Don and Amba Stapleton PhD. I share this map at the beginning of most of my trainings because I find it highly orienting.
When I feel lost, this map helps me see where I've been, where I am and where I'm going. If only it could let me know how long I'll be in any one stage! Maybe grab an astrologer for that?
I hope this is as helpful to you as it is to me.
Peace and blessings,

Intro
Hello, everyone! Today, we bring you Michael Leary. We talk about the earliest pivotal moments in his life, the importance of creating a North Star of where you want to go, and how to parent with past trauma. We also talk about morning rituals, getting enough sleep to start the day, and making small changes to achieve happiness.
Let’s dive in!
Michael Leary is a husband, father, trainer, and dog-dad to Griff (the best dog in the world). Through his training, Michael allows others to live with purpose, joy, and satisfaction.
Drawing from his own dark past experiences, Michael is able to empathize and meet others where they’re at in their journeys and help them to build the life that they desire.
