In today’s episode, we continue our conversation about prayer, specifically what it looks like to pray when we are in great pain or grieving a loss by bring our honest questions before the Lord. The Psalms give us a vocabulary for what is known as lament. “Lament is a prayer in pain that leads to trust”, according to Mark Vroegop. Often times whenever we find ourselves suffering, we feel as if we can’t wrestle with questions. But, 1/3 of the psalms are lament, so it is clear that there is room in our prayers for this type of conversation with God. Lament does not minimize our pain, but it does take it to the One who can comfort us.
