During the night of April 26th, 1986, a series of explosions rocked what was then the Soviet Union. They were coming from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, located near the city of Pripyat in modern-day Ukraine. The explosions released an incredible amount of radiation into the atmosphere, causing one of the worst man-made disasters in history.
