In this week's episode, Susan shares a vision she had while praying a few months ago. As she prayed about what she saw, the Lord said these words - The enemy is showing up to the door of My people's lives trying to sell them something that's not from Me.
When the disciples asked Jesus how they would know when He would return, the first thing He said was, "Take heed no one deceives you." (see Matt. 24) The Bible warns believers against deception throughout the NT. Obviously, the Lord wanted us to be aware of deception.
Be encouraged today, believer in Christ, deception may abound in these days but you don't have to be a victim to it!

Continuing to use the Roman soldier as a metaphor for the Armor of God, the soldier could have all the other pieces of his armor but without his sword, the soldier would be a sitting duck - vulnerable and defenseless!

To "wear" the helmet of salvation properly we need to understand what salvation is. In this week's episode, we'll look at key Scripture verses to understand what we're saved from and by whom.
For the Roman soldier, the helmet was a fitted piece of armor that covered his ears, and facial area, and for some, offered small protection over the eyes. We will also consider how our helmet of salvation offers us protection in those same areas.

The shield of faith is the fourth piece of the Armor of God the Apostle Paul writes about in Ephesians Chapter Six. One of the things that stands out to me is that he says "...take up the shield of faith..."The words take up tell me it's something we are responsible for. In other words, there is a preparedness or readiness on our end that is required!

My friend and returning guest, Ayana Dixon is joining us this week to talk about finding a healthy community of like-minded people to do life with. Ayana is such a joy to talk with and is one of those friends who you immediately feel at home with.
Ayana Robinson Dixon was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana where she resided until the age of 18. She then relocated to the Washington, DC area to earn a B.A. degree from Howard University.
Ayana accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized on January 4, 1981. She rededicated her life to Christ in October 1998, and since that time has been on fire for the Lord.
She answered the call to ministry in September 2001 and was licensed in May 2003 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, Virginia. She was ordained at Mount Pleasant on June 25, 2006. Ayana earned her Master of Divinity degree at Liberty University. She loves teaching and working with children. Ayana worked with Charlotte Mecklenburg's public school system for six years. She worked as both a Behavior Modification Technician and an 8th-grade teacher.
Ayana currently serves as the Co-Pastor of Agape Global Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Methuselah E. Dixon; Senior Pastor. She has owned and operated the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Charlotte-Mint Hill since April 2016. Ayana is the founder of the Circle 31 International Women’s Ministry and host of the Circle 31 Podcast. She enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Methuselah and Ayana have three children.

As a gifted singer, musician, and speaker, Bridgette is used by the Lord and plays a major role in the couple’s ministry—both administratively and ministerially. She has a heart to see the people of God grow and mature spiritually. Bridgette ministers through speaking engagements, blogs frequently from their ministry site, and is the founder of a ministry for ministry wives, Sanctuary. Sanctuary launched a podcast for women in ministry in 2020 called Let's Talk with Sanctuary and Bridgette serves as the primary host.
When she finds time for personal hobbies, Bridgette enjoys entertaining, blogging, singing, browsing the local antique shops, and sipping on a cup of hot tea for a few precious quiet moments. You were created to live from a place of victory! You can live victoriously because Jesus bore your defeat. As we talked about last week, you have been given a position by God - seated in heavenly places with Jesus. It's important to remember that in all the pieces of your identity in Christ, no one can unseat you from a position given to you by God!
This week I want to encourage you no allow anything to define you but God alone! As we talk about victorious living, be encouraged to believe you are not defined by your worst moment or failure.

This week I wanted to connect with you over the topic of forgiveness. Forgiveness is a multi-layered topic, and while I know this episode only scratches the surface, I hope it encourages you that God will help you forgive when it's hard.
This week, one major takeaway is not to allow what happened to keep you stuck in unforgiveness, bitterness, unresolved anger, or resentment. That is a prison! And God never created you to live imprisoned to events of your past! Forgiveness is a process, one that can take some time.

It was here that she began to grasp a vision of how God can meet the needs of hurting people by providing a place of refuge, fellowship, and healing.
Pastor Monica put her vision into action as she started, the ICCM Life Center, in 1993 from her home in the poorest and most crime-ridden neighborhood in the Twin Cities.
Pastor Monica and her husband Pastor Chris have dispatched launch teams to plant churches in Miami, New York, and Seattle and have pioneered inner-city churches in Chicago, St. Paul as well as a Hispanic church.
Pastor Monica has been married for 30 years and has two adult children. Pastor Monica’s passion is to see lives changed through the power of Jesus Christ.

In this week's episode, I want to share with you a dream I had a couple of weeks ago that I know was from the Lord.
I wholeheartedly believe the Lord is calling us higher and forward! A people who won't shrink back at the first sign of setback or resistance. A people who will be audacious enough to allow His Spirit to bring radical transformation that shakes us free from comfort zones, the limits we've placed upon ourselves, or on God.

What a blessing to have my dear friend, Satise Roddy on the show! Satise is full of wisdom and it is so evident that she is intentional about spending time with Jesus. This will be an episode you'll return to as you continue to grow in your faith.

My friend, Ayana Dixon, joins us on the podcast this week. I admire her in many ways and she added such value to this week's episode! Ayana made so many great points but I think one of my favorite comments she made was about balancing ministry and family.
Family is our greatest ministry. What a timeless reminder for anyone!
Ayana Robinson Dixon was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana where she resided until the age of 18. She then relocated to the Washington, DC area to earn a B.A. degree from Howard University.
Ayana accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized on January 4, 1981. She rededicated her life to Christ in October 1998, and since that time has been on fire for the Lord.
She answered the call to ministry in September 2001, was licensed in May 2003 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, Virginia. She was ordained at Mount Pleasant on June 25, 2006. Ayana earned her Masters of Divinity degree at Liberty University. She loves teaching and working with children. Ayana worked with Charlotte Mecklenburg public school system for six years. She worked as both a Behavior Modification Technician and an 8th-grade teacher.
Ayana currently serves as the Co-Pastor of Agape Global Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Methuselah E. Dixon; Senior Pastor. She has owned and operated the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Charlotte-Mint Hill since April 2016. Ayana is the founder of the Circle 31 International Women’s Ministry and host of the Circle 31 Podcast. She enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. In this week's episode, we're looking at a different side of the fear of failure. Often this conversation centers around being fearful of stepping out to embark upon something new, but this week we will talk about failed attempts and fearing to try again.
Unless the Lord has closed a door or ended a season, there is always a reason to try again! One of the main points I hope you walk away with this week is that in Christ, we don't fail in totality, we fail forward. If we allow it to be, failed attempts can be a great teacher!

One of the things I love about Huldah's story is that she doesn't have a lot of Scripture given to her, but her life impacted the world around her and she left a powerful legacy. A legacy people still admire today. The fact that she doesn't have a lot of space given to her in the Bible encourages us that we don't have to large followings, be well known, or have large platforms to be an effective woman of faith!

In this season we're all living in it's not uncommon to hear people share how tired they are in their faith. Living in the world right now is challenging and at times, can feel heavy. BUT GOD!
This week, I want to invite you into a conversation I had a few weeks ago with the Lord. I specifically asked Him to show me how He is leading and what He is saying to us as people of faith right now.
Friend, you can tell your mountain about your God! Jesus said in Mark 11 that we can speak to the mountain! You and I can decide today we're not going to be satisfied with a politically correct type of faith, a blab and grab faith, or watered down faith. We are going to have an "It is written!" type of faith!

Our mind is so powerful! Each time I look at the story of Eve in the Book of Genesis I am reminded of how easily we can be deceived into thinking thoughts that aren't true.
Eve made the wrong choice because she listened to the wrong voice!
The enemy, just like he did with Eve, comes after our thoughts to make us question what God said, if He is somehow holding out on us, or if we can believe the Lord to fulfill what He said.
But there is good news! Jesus overcame the enemy and he is small enough to fit under your feet! You can be transformed by the renewal of your mind!

I love hearing the story of someone who has been through hard things and overcame them with the help of the Lord.
People like my friend, Dorsey Ross, who was born with a rare condition. Dorsey's parents were given other options to consider if they didn't want to take him home. He was bullied in school, teased, laughed at, and was told not to consider college as it would be too hard for him.
Dorsey's story is about facing obstacles with a faith-filled mindset, and while it was difficult, he overcame many odds against him. Dorsey travels the country sharing his story of God's faithfulness. Such a great testimony!

We've all felt the harmful effects of comparison, and most of us have heard the quote from Eleanor Rosevelt, "Comparison is the thief of joy."
A thief, naturally speaking, steals something from someone. Jesus said this about our real enemy in John 10:10, "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy..." He went on to speak of Himself, "...but I have come to give you life and life in abundance."
Comparison is not life-giving at all.
Comparison steals joy and purpose, kills dreams, and destroys relationships and unity.
You are created unique, and that sets you apart! God's favor, blessing, and anointing are upon you being you, not you being someone else. You can live free from the trap of comparison!

Are you a carrier of a God-given dream? I'm sure you are, and if you don't think you are, this episode is for you. The Lord has a dream for your life, and it is discovered as you sit at His feet.
This episode is also for those who gave an exuberant hallelujah when they received the God-given dream, but as time has marched on, so it seems the fulfillment of that dream has too. Or, maybe for you, it's more of an "I didn't see it turning out this way" sort of tired hallelujah.
I believe there is an anointing on this episode. Toward the end, I felt strongly to pray over those who have a tired hallelujah, so if that's you, take heart that the dream is still on!

Have you ever read something in the Bible and even though you've read it countless times before, that one time the words seemed to leap off the page like a Jack-in-the-Box?
That's exactly what happened the other day while reading the book of Acts. These three words, Peter stood up (see Acts 2:14) quickened me!
From there, the Lord began speaking to me about being Spirit-led people to discern the times to know when and how to lift our voices in this world. These days we're living in requires we steward ourselves well with the help of the Holy Spirit.
You and I can be empowered to take a stand in a bow-down world!

Isn't it just like the Lord to teach or remind us of a timeless lesson when we least expect it? That is exactly what He did several weeks ago, and in all honesty, it was just what I needed to hear.
If you know me at all, you know I am not given to the hustle message so often heard in our world. I don't think it's biblical. Yet, just like anyone else, I need to step back and reevaluate how I'm spending my time and make adjustments.

Today we are joined by my friend, Andrea Sandefur, all the way from Alaska. I really appreciated my conversation with Andrea on the topic of criticism and felt like I could have talked with her for hours!
One of the main takeaways was Andera's statement, "Criticism fades in a clearly defined mission." What a great reminder that when criticism comes to remember why we're doing what we're doing - unto the Lord.

I missed the opportunity to recognize International Women's Day back in March because I was full-on She Rises 2021 Women's Conference mode. But hey, we can celebrate, honor, and show value to women any month of the year, right?!
So often women feel a need to somehow prove themselves to show they have something to bring to the table. Especially in leadership roles outside of the traditional settings, women are often met with pushback and questions about their role.

Ever feel the weight of shame? Me too. You're not alone, I think all of us have.
While I've gained a lot of freedom in this area of my life, every now and then shame shows up in my life as it did just a few weeks ago. Like the bully it is, shame backed me into a corner and made me question a few things in my life.
I believe shame attacks our identity in Christ and what we've been called to do on the earth. But shame is not the boss of you! It does not have permission or authority in your life. You can take authority over it and replace those lies with the truth!

I think one of the biggest freedoms we can have is from the pressure to feel we have to prove ourselves. Jesus was tempted by many to prove Himself and who He claimed to be, but we can learn from His example how to overcome this temptation!
When you and I know who we are in Him, and live from that place, we can overcome the pressure to prove ourselves.

We've all experienced it - mistrust in a relationship. It usually happens when someone betrays confidence or does something equally hurtful. Sometimes it happens when a trusted friend changes their mind about us and withdraws their support and willingness to be present in our lives.
The walk-away friend. That's such a hurtful time in anyone's life; one that makes it difficult to put ourselves out there and trust people again. Yet, God never created us to live alone and in isolation. You and I were created for community.
So, if we understand that, how do we begin to rebuild trust and create a healthy community in our lives? In this week's episode, I want to share a few tips God has helped me with in rebuilding trust in people so I can have a healthy community.

"I'm grateful for rejection because it helped me better understand and appreciate God's acceptance of me."
Gulp! I know, I know those words "grateful for rejection" can make one's mind go tilt-tilt! Trust me, I didn't reach that place in my faith overnight. But I can honestly say that when we, with God's help, allow the pain of rejection to deepen our relationship with Him, we will rise from that pain deeply rooted in His truth.

We are well into the series, Kingdom Women! It's been such a great series! This week I wanted us to connect over the topic of not shrinking back and no longer apologizing for the gifts the Lord has placed within us or the area He has called us to.
Here me - a woman's place is wherever He places her! Whether it's a stay-at-home mom, a CEO, a leader in her church, or a store clerk if He has placed her there, it is intentionally!
When you and I fully lean into who God created us to be, using the gifts He's given us, we are being faithful to Him! It's never really been about us; it has always been about Him!

In the Kingdom Women Series, I wanted to be sure we addressed the topic of rising to fulfill God's plan and purpose for your life. Maybe the words being created with and for a purpose is something new to you; that's okay! Let's start there!

Proverbs 24:16 tells us that A righteous man may fall seven times but gets back up. As Kingdom Women, we may fall seven times, but we can get back up eight, nine, ten ... time and time again because in Christ we are overcomers!

First up in the new series, Kingdom Women, is Better, not, Bitter. Kingdom Women allow what they're either currently going through or have been through to make them better, not bitter.
Kingdom Women aren't somehow immune from disappointments, hurts, and difficult circumstances. They experience those just like any other woman yet what separates them is how they view those things. Kingdom Women acknowledge what they're going through is hard but they understand how they view something will determine what they see, Kingdom Women make a choice to see through the lens of heaven, not the world or their feelings.

Back in September our pastor gave a message on the importance of not drifting in our faith. Here it is the end of November and I am still marinating in that message! It was that good!
Gosh, the world is so loud nowadays! Someone recently said she didn't know what to believe in things she was reading and hearing because she doesn't know what is factual anymore. Needless to say, opinions, articles, ideas, theories, etc are not in shortage!
It has had me thinking a lot about that message back in September. In this week's episode, I want to share some of my thoughts as I have sat in that message now for two months. The importance of knowing what is true and understanding truth isn't merely a good word, truth is a person - Jesus.
We can be people who are fully anchored in His truth even when the winds of adversity are blowing and the waves are crashing in around us.

The other day I was asked if I missed being the Store Manager of a nationally-known women's clothing store. In all honesty, I sometimes miss those days! Since that question was asked, I've been thinking about my time with that company.
It was a struggling store when I was promoted to the Store Manager position but together with my amazing team, we turned the store and within a year it was ranked in the top 100!
Along with God's favor and blessing, there were specific things we did to turn that store. They each centered around helping the women who came through the doors feel valued and seen. The things we utilized as a team in that store can help us make others feel valued and seen in what often feels like a self-absorbed world.

Comparing ourselves with others has been around for years; it's nothing new. Women have compared themselves to others using what they see in another as a measuring stick. We think what we see others doing is the definition of success and once we achieve what we see, we will finally feel enough.
Sound familiar? Ever fall into that trap? Me, too. Too many times to count, if I were being honest.
Feeling not enough can hinder your ability to reach higher in your faith and God wants to change that! His heart is to set you free from striving on the proverbial hamster wheel!

If there were to be one thing each of us could agree on in 2020, it's that this year has been challenging in so many different ways. Challenges related to jobs, kid's sports, schools, churches, physical and emotional health. It would also be very accurate to say maintaining one's mental health has proven to be challenging for some.
And it is no surprise. 2020 does not reflect a "normal" way of living. Isolation and the constant bombarding of media can take a serious toll on our mental health.

It's inevitable - while we are alive on the earth we will experience things that hurt us. The mistreatment of others can cause deep pain in our hearts that, if left alone, can lead to devastating effects in our lives.
When God tells us to forgive people it feels unfair. But the real kicker? It feels even more unfair when there isn't an apology from the offender. So hard! In this episode, I want to offer you a few tips that have proven helpful for me in this area.

We all have seasons of doubt, that isn't a question. Often what we focus on is the avoidance of doubt - how to not put our energy into it. But what happens is when it does show up in our lives, we don't know how to respond to it and it can cause us to spiral in our thoughts and how we view our lives.
In this episode, I want to equip you with a few tips I have found to be tried and true in my life when facing doubt. I felt sensitive toward those in a season of waiting which has brought doubt in their lives. Be encouraged today that delay doesn't mean denial! Over the years I have had several women reach out with questions about how to write a book, take steps toward some form of ministry, start a business, and most recently, how to launch a podcast. In the past three weeks, I have had the honor of speaking with women asking those same questions.
In a world that can feel competitive, I believe God wants us to be women who help other women shine. Here's the thing. Not every woman is willing to do that. I have encountered that and I bet you have too.
In my many years of ministry and just everyday life, I have learned it is okay to stop waiting for someone to invite me to their table and instead, build my own which allows me to welcome others. We all know it and most likely have said it - it is important to have the right people around you. If you're a parent, you have probably taught your kids about making the right friends. Sometimes we as adults need a friendly reminder of what we teach our kids!
Even Scripture supports having the right people around us. Proverbs tells us to walk with the wise and we will become wise; and that as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. In this episode, I want to encourage you to do a relationship assessment. Are those closest to you wise? Do they offer you wise advice? Are they themselves living a life that is defined as wise?
Are those closest to you people that sharpen you? Do they spur you on? Do they challenge you? Are they themselves living a life that inspires you to reach higher in your faith?

I believe as Christ-followers we are the Body of Christ and with that, when one hurts, we all hurt. My heart has been grieved, along with many others, at the racism that still exists in our country. In light of recent events that resulted in the loss of the lives of black men, I felt compelled to reach out to my dear friend, Rosemary. She's Rosie to me!
We've logged a lot of miles together over the years. We have served alongside one another many times, prayed together, stood in the trenches with one another, rejoiced with and for one another. We have shared losses and heartache with one another. Rosie is a very special sister/friend to myself and many others. Rosie is also a black woman who has experienced racism herself.
I invited her to have a candid conversation with me not only about the topic of racism but how we all can be part of a solution.

I wanted to invite you into a conversation about doing something all of us have to do at some point - the ebb and flow in relationships and the things we give our energy to. Often people are in our lives, and we in theirs, for a reason and season.
Sometimes it isn't a relationship that is changing, but something we have given our time, energy, and resources to and the season has come to an end. Trusting God in these times is essential in following the Lord where He leads.

Such an exciting episode! This week I am joined by my husband, Tim. We will celebrate 30 years of marriage this fall. Of those thirty years, I have been in ministry for eighteen and of those eighteen, Tim and I were in ministry together for eight. Those eight years were spent equally divided - four in youth ministry and four in marriage ministry.
While in ministry together, we both were bi-vocational and raising our daughter. We have learned a few things along the way! With that, we thought it would be fun to offer a few tips we've learned in how to steward each of those areas well.

From a recovering quitter of all things, this is my favorite episode in this series! In the middle of waiting for dreams to unfold and doing your best to keep a faith-filled attitude can be hard in this stage! Endurance, while something necessary for anyone wanting to do more with their lives, can be challenging!
When things aren't happening as quickly as we had hoped, we begin to look outwardly for confirmation that God is at work in our lives. I believe it's this stage the enemy wants us to believe, because we can't find that evidence, we must have heard wrong which so often leads to quitting and walking away from the promises God gave us.
Be encouraged today that God is true to His promises! Don't allow your current season to make you forget what God said!

Dreams. Many, if not all of us, have a dream in our hearts. It's so exciting when the dream is first given to us; we feel on top of the world. Because there is usually a preparation period to see that dream fulfilled in our lives, we can begin to feel forgotten or overlooked. Days can turn into weeks; weeks into months, and for some, months into years of waiting.
During that wait what once felt alive on the inside of us, begins to feel more barren. This episode is part of a four-part series where we will talk about the stages of carrying God-given dreams and how to not waste your wait.
This series will encourage you if you feel you're in a season of the barrenness of unmet dreams, hopes, and fruition of God's promises in your life. Barrenness doesn't mean it's over! It's not too late and you're not too old! God has not forgotten about you! He is at work right now in your life!

Have you ever been so afraid of something you do almost anything to avoid it? Fear is an emotion and if we believe emotions were created by God, it would make one wonder what the purpose of fear is in our lives, right?
I think God gave us that emotion to be used at appropriate times, but what He didn't intend for it to produce in our lives is fear of being obedient when He gives us clear direction in an area of our lives. Yes, fear can feel so intimidating. Yes, fear can be loud. But fear is also a liar as it applies to our faith and whether we will step out and pursue the things God has purposed for our lives.
Let today be your day to kick fear to the curb and rise to take steps toward your destiny!

Stop asking others for permission to have boundaries! Instead, give yourself permission to establish them in your life! It's not being mean or unkind! Boundaries help us stay in tune with the voice of God and help fulfill His plan for our lives. No one can show up in his or her life and fulfill all God has for them if they're exhausted from running here and there. Set your heart free to establish boundaries that work for you.
