What Does Your Heart Say?
1Clear my name, God;
I’ve kept an honest shop.
I’ve thrown in my lot with you, God, and
I’m not budging.
2Examine me, God, from head to foot,
order your battery of tests.
Make sure I’m fit
inside and out
3So I never lose
sight of your love,
But keep in step with you,
never missing a beat.
4-5I don’t hang out with tricksters,
I don’t pal around with thugs;
I hate that pack of gangsters,
I don’t deal with double-dealers.
6-7I scrub my hands with purest soap,
then join hands with the others in the great circle,
dancing around your altar, God,
Singing God-songs at the top of my lungs,
telling God-stories.
8-10 God, I love living with you;
your house glows with your glory.
When it’s time for spring cleaning,
don’t sweep me out with the quacks and crooks,
Men with bags of dirty tricks,
women with purses stuffed with bribe-money.
11-12You know I’ve been aboveboard with you;
now be aboveboard with me.
I’m on the level with you, God;
I bless you every chance I get.
All Prayed Up:
Heavenly Father,
I come before you with a heart lifted in praise and gratitude, drawing inspiration from the words of Psalm 26. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, and I am humbled by the guidance and love you provide.
Lord, I echo the psalmist's plea: "Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity." As I strive to walk in righteousness and truth, I ask for your discernment and strength. Search my heart, O God, and lead me along the paths of righteousness, for you alone are my refuge and defense.
You are the source of unwavering love, and I am filled with joy as I consider your faithfulness. Your steadfastness is my anchor, and I trust that you will guide me through life's challenges and uncertainties. May my life reflect the beauty of your holiness, and may my actions mirror the purity of your presence.
Lord, I stand before you in gratitude, cherishing the fellowship I share with your people. Like the psalmist, I long to dwell in the assembly of the righteous, praising your name and offering my worship in unity with others who love you.
Give me a heart that yearns for your presence, O Lord. I desire to enter your sanctuary with thanksgiving, to experience the fullness of your grace and mercy. As I seek your face, open my eyes to the wonders of your creation, and let my heart overflow with praise for your marvelous works.
Guard me against the influence of the wicked and the deceitful, and grant me discernment to recognize the paths that lead away from you. May my choices align with your will, and may my steps be guided by your truth.
Lord, I trust in your unfailing love. My heart is lifted in anticipation of the blessings you have in store for me. As I walk in your light, may I continue to grow in faith, hope, and love, reflecting your goodness to the world around me.
Thank you, gracious Father, for the uplifting words of Psalm 26. May they serve as a reminder of your unwavering presence and the joy that comes from dwelling in your love.
In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
