I talk with Trilby, a former schoolmate of mine, about the aftermath of her mother's murder in 1980, and how that informs her ability to support students, as a teacher. I asked her what it was like to deal with people's responses to her family's traumatic loss and how she and her siblings managed to support each other as they grew up.
