Q | Over the last couple of years I have come to see a lot of manipulation in my life (in particular the people I considered closest). I can’t help but wonder why I attract so much of this? Could it be a mirror to an aspect of me I’m not aware of?

A | This is one of my least favorite belief systems. It’s perpetuated in a way that makes people feel like if anything bad has happened to them, they’ve brought it on themselves. Then we go rooting for that kernel in us that still needs to be fixed — princess and the pea style.

There’s always going to be something we can tweak. That’s the nature of expansion. But to feel like we have to fix, fix, fix is utterly exhausting.

So I invite you to take a break.

You’re great exactly where you are.

Do you feel your nervous system relax? Your shoulders unclench? Your breath flow a bit more deeply?

Questioning or doubting our every action actually opens us up to more manipulation. It says that we don’t trust ourselves and causes us to drift from standing firmly in our own energy. That’s where crud sneaks through the cracks.

Maybe you’ve outgrown these friendships. Maybe you’re having attacks hurled at you because you’re shining so brightly. Maybe you’re the mirror that’s reflecting the truths they don’t want to address.

Whatever the reason this is showing up for you, embrace it. See it as an opportunity to learn and expand instead of fix. Isn’t that a profound shift in energy! It says, “Whatever you hurl at me, I’ve got this!” And you do.
