Oh, there you are, dear listeners. You seemed to have caught me at a moment of residual drowsiness while experiencing my peacefully calm awakening. Give me just a second to open the curtains to let a sliver of morning light into my hovering capsule as I prepare a warm cup of coffee to thaw out my still-wandering grey matter. Would you like coffee, tea, hot chocolate? Name it, and I'll prepare it for you so that our morning routine of our minds slowly blossoming into the day is met with success and gratitude. If you'll allow, I'd love to drop a coin into the cosmic jukebox to get a jingle going. I have just the one. It's a lullaby wrapped in the stars and delivered softly to the transmission tower that beams radiant solace in the form of aural sugar.
Today, as we climb skyward, you will notice the fog in our minds will give way to clouds that form familiar figures that only our individual imaginations can decipher. These clouds are multi-purpose in that they also form pillowy soft foundations that help us prepare for witnessing the splendor of Mother Earth coming around. Once the sky begins to awake, cherish the moments of viewing blissful colors in the sky, hearing the sounds of earthly gears beginning to rotate, and seeing life flourish once again. This phenomenon happens daily, but every time it's like the first. Bask in the glow that rains down from above, and realize the fortunes you have to be given allow you this luxury. Take time to reflect upon those who are not with us and no longer have this awakening luxury. In their honor, celebrate an appreciation for them that they impressed upon your memory with peaceful reverence.
Seeing the sun rising and setting is a commemorative episode, one which we should celebrate. You old boy Tonepoet is here to hang out with you in the cloud chamber during this event. Mentally bathe yourself in the rich light that the heavens have delivered to you. This is a nectar of renewal, so lather up, rinse, and repeat. Unify with the peaceful envelope of optimism, hope, and emanate good will to one another. Yes, I'm a hippie today.
It would be remiss of me not to mention this episode's esteemed co-captain on the voyage who happens to be one of my all-time favorite artists: HIDDEN SKY. Hidden Sky soared up from the land down under and boasts an impressive vault of sonic poetry. I own every Hidden Sky release, I'd be a fool not to, and I did my best to insert his music throughout the mix. Pay Hidden Sky a visit and show the love. Peace.

Dear listener, where have you been?!? We are tasked for a mission with an estimated departure time of now! Your old boy Tonepoet simply refuses to set sail into the cosmic horizon as a lone voyager. Our standard operating procedure mandates a strict directive for enlisting a co-pilot; one worthy of commandeering a vessel that bends the horizon while burning the skies, leaving behind a vapor trail of dreams and aspirations. You, my dear listener, are that co-pilot. All aboard!
This mission is not one to disregard or discount in any way. A tapestry pathway automates the controls that guide us towards a universe that exists within a very small space: the space between your ears. This is where the dream lives. With this session, we will fill the crevices of confusion and stress with an auditory putty, one that consists of equal parts solitude, hope, love, and wonderment. With this putty we hope to banish aforementioned confusion and stress.
Dial your mental compass toward the curtain of cosmic ether and allow the blanket of sound provided to emanate a warmth that caresses your soul and lifts you into an elevated state. Yes, dear listener, our mission is an investment into you! The plateau that we seek is one of self realization that you are a larger-than-life carbon entity filled with a passion to strive for an optimal creative flow. It is in this instance that I will assume duties as the co-pilot as we touch down into your place of clarity where the sun never sets. Your lighted soul will pierce the heavens, and move through the air at the speed of light. You've got this!
As you drift into this zone, remember to look around you and appreciate everyone as you share good thoughts in effort to reap the sweet nectar of karma. Once you become synonymous with your dreams, be sure to assist other with achieving similar outcomes. The dream is here, you just need to reach out to it. What are you waiting for?

Dear listeners, I have yet another very important tale for you today, and one of absolute truth! This is above and beyond the tale that I laid upon your mind in the podcast Camping Under The Stars, Vol. 5 (Sanctuary), which was a mere 2 weeks of living off of the land and surviving on hot dogs, bananas, and peanut butter. Dear listeners, this tale stretches across 3 years. 3 long YEARS!! It is not one that was pleasant, but it had a(n eventual) happy ending. How does that tie into today's episode?? Well, let me tell you.......
In a time not long ago, during a weird and upside-down world of toilet paper shortages and no haircuts lived a content little dude whom we will call Poemhobbit. He lived in his happy village with his happy family and created musings of aural jewels for people all over the world which he delivered like an Easter egg. Well, for some odd reason, Poemhobbit and his family felt that they should travel to a land unknown, so he sold his tiny cottage quickly and with a prosperous outcome. Poemhobbit was so happy! But, before he and his family would decide on the perfect place, they would live in a less-than-desirable village that was infested by a sub-societal mob of unhappy zombies that smelled of burning skunk cigarettes. 'It is okay', thought Poemhobbit, 'it will not last for more than 3 months. I will take this negative experience and thrive, nonetheless. These 3 months will go by quickly and we will have departed before any misery sets in!' And so it was.....
However, those 3 months turned into 6 months. Then, into a year. And, yet another year. And another year after that. And anot........wait, how many years is that?!? So, Poemhobbit was stuck in this prison-like dystopian cubicle for 3 years. And, the misery did set in. In fact, it festered like a cancer. The family was unhappy, hope had abandoned them, their dreams turned into dusty cobwebs, and escaping was something that was never even talked about without malice and regret. Poemhobbit was miserable, and his joy for the arts became a chore and a cumbersome endeavor. It was difficult for Poemhobbit to weave sounds and spread joy when it had escaped him.
But, Poemhobbit never gave up. He didn't always allow his family to know of his struggles, and instead fought to shine positive light on the negative situation. He fueled them with his (fake) optimism and assurance. Moreso, Poemhobbit had to really convince himself that his misery was perception, and that his ambitions would pull him out of the quicksand. He had to be the beacon of light, the sunbeam to those that depended upon him, and somehow find the strength to burn through the shadows and dust. 'Stay strong', Poemhobbit told himself, 'and let those that follow you tread upon a path of optimism and diligence.'
Well, as fate would have it, persistence finally did win. Poemhobbit held out and never stopped raining hope and optimism upon his family. They were eventually able to escape the inferno of stinky skunk cigarettes burned by sketchy circus clowns. This journey in time was very debilitating physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If Poemhobbit gave up hope (which nearly happened many, many times), then he would have let down his family. In the end, Poemhobbit found a nice cottage in a small village where he had laid his wishes. Fortune smiled down upon his family, and the fire inside him rekindled once again. The struggle for comfort had finally subsided.
Sometimes, to succeed you need the positive person around you to inspire you and light up your ambitions. Sometimes that person needs to be you. While the modern world wants us to let out everything and seek comfort from our hardships, your boy Poemhob........... I mean Tonepoet, believes that controlling this like a water spigot and knowing when, how much, and to who you water your hardships to is an exercise of optimal self-control. Seek a co-pilot that can give you guidance when you need it, so that you can ignite the light inside those that rely on you for assurance during tough times. And, in turn, be an inspirational sunbeam to others. Things will work out for you if you show persistence and patience. The staff at Spaceman's Transmissions has faith in our dear listeners, our power is with you.

Hello, dear listeners. Today, I have a special guest mix by a label that I follow and truly love. ARTIFICIAL OWL RECORDINGS is a new and mighty label whose mission is to break down the traditional walls of predictable ho-hum ambient and introduce deeper atmospheres and wider spectrums of sound into our universes. I was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to share with you all quite a few tracks (over 1 ½ hours of music!) from AOR in a stellar mix by the label’s founder and curator, Niko Dalagelis (One Of Them). Dig into the history and mission statement of AOR below as you take in some truly mystical vibes not of this earth. Pay AOR a visit and show them the love. Oh, and their artwork is beyond astounding!
When did Artificial Owl Recordings come into being and what was the motivation to start a label?
Artificial Owl Recordings was created in 2019 by Niko Dalagelis. Niko has been writing music as ONE OF THEM since 2008 and before that as Niko Dalagelis (since 2000). The One of Them project has always been more focused on the deep and ambient side of music, and the label was created to release his first ambient album entitled Sithabo. Niko had been releasing his music on numerous international record labels in the past and felt that it was time to release his own album on his own record label.
Where is Artificial Owl Recordings based out of?
Artificial Owl Recordings is based in New York city. The 4th release just came out recently (Excogitation by the artist One Of Them). Prior to this, the label released a full album by Spain's OG Miguel Ruiz aka ORFEON GAGARIN who has been in the scene since the 80's, and a full album by ORBITAL PATTERNS. The label's vinyl is globally distributed by Paris Yoyaku and all the records can be found around the world in select record stores. Our 5th release will be coming out in the Spring of 2024 and it will be work from legendary music producer Satoshi Tomiie and his A_A PROJECT.
How did you find your current roster of artists and what is your outreach looking like in the future?
Listening to new music and following underground artists is the focus for finding artists that can be added on the label's roster.
How many people (and who) is behind Artificial Owl Recordings? What kind of future endeavors lie ahead for AOR?
At the moment, Niko is running the label. The future of Artificial Owl Recordings is to keep on releasing underground experimental music that will be available on vinyl. The weirder and deeper the music, the better :)

My fellow travelers of the aural universe, I'm so very happy to have you all here as we lazily flow into a continuation of the Mental Drift series. As with any amalgamation that is woven, special consideration is given to those of you that may feel alarmed by disruptive and angular sonic anomalies. Our mission here at the Spaceman's Transmissions laboratory is optimized towards the analyzation of our sketches. It is during these rigorous processes that the removal of diluted mish-mash and scratchy, if not, dull and turbulent static are discarded. Dear listeners, we have baked you a morsel of mental release made with only the freshest natural ingredients. All allergy free.
This sweetly baked bite-sized snack is a mere hour(ish) of an escape journey, and is one which requires only a very tiny fraction of of your devotion. This will allow you to paint your grey matter with colorful light and provide your creative spirit a smooth path inward towards your cerebral control center. Allow the gears of your mind the pleasure of connecting with what really matters: you! Sink deep into your own universe, you owe yourself that. There will be no bumps or turbulence along the way, as we are drifting calmly and slowly upon a mental breeze of comfort and beauty. Take a moment to gaze skyward and marvel at how wonderful you are. Celebrate your uniqueness with a smile and a sense of motivation towards your utopian sunset. Don't hurry through this journey. Rather, let the slight breeze set the course of the voyage. It will steadily (and purposefully) carry you to where your creative oasis resides. Stay there awhile, and rejoice over the beauty of everything around you. Your old boy Tonepoet is there to ensure that your mellow flight of peace is every bit as rejuvenating as it should be. Revisit Spaceman's Transmissions often, and invite your loved ones along so that they, too, may take advantage of the mental reset that we afford everyone. The journey was, is, and always will be a free ticket to the calm skies within your amazingly underappreciated personal space: the galaxy between your ears. It's hip, it's new, it's here, it's now, it's the FUTURE, dear listeners!! Now, I have an idea what you might be thinking of when you ponder what the future actually is. Machines, robots, automation, absence of the human element? Or, is it the ability to harness the means of connecting diverse sets of people with common goals, aspirations, and creative energy to develop a communal sense that encompasses much more than what we envision? I'm going with the latter.
It would be so easy to bury our heads in the sand and ignore what some might call 'progress'. You're not incorrect with stating that this constant perpetual forward motion becomes cumbersome, requiring us to constantly evolve to fit the need. Now, for many, the future is not always so bright. It's an unfortunate thing that we often choose to ignore that populace and persist in our own bubbles of contentment and comfort. That's not living, dear listeners. Living is sharing the light in your universe with a soul who is subsisting on shadows and sorrow. Dear listeners, since I've been sending out the transmissions, I've been working to bring a brighter sun into your sonic universe. It's up to you now to spread your positive energy to those that need it, to provide the shade over their burnt ambition and water the barren field of their failures. Provide the minerals of belonging to those unlike you and watch their fields of admiration turn into a fertile land of giving.
If you want to live in an amazing world then you have to build it. With what, you ask? Well, with other people. Surround yourself with water and you swim. Surround yourself with people who you've unrolled your joy into and you will thrive. Nay, you will build your legacy! That's living, or more so, that's living after life.
Okay, story time. I used to go to Walt Disney World in Orlando every year with my family when I was a little kid (I lived an hour away and it was, at that time, affordable). I remember going into a ride called Tomorrowland. It was absolutely fascinating. The one part that I remember the most, and that still sticks with your boy Tonepoet, is witnessing a scene of two kids on separate sides of the world talking to each other through a television screen. I marveled that one day I would be able to send messages on the other side of the world. With Spaceman's Transmissions, I'm able to do just that. Lesson? Grasp the future with both hands and turn it into your launchpad of discovery. Peace.

Hello, beautiful listeners and travelers of the cosmic tapestry. We've have had some relaxing times while wandering around the peaceful forests of aural canyons. We've dipped our toes into a calm, yet vibrant, stream of brilliantly blissful moments. There comes a time when the spacecraft must align the controls for yet another destination in search of the vivid beauty from echoing dreams. While it's blissfully effortless to lay in the pasture of calm, pillowy thoughts and star gaze while recalling worlds unique to ourselves, we have to slowly and softly uproot ourselves in effort to keep on truckin'. This minor disruption is but a very momentary displacement into yet another realm of as-of-yet unseen and unfelt bliss. Our goal is to seek the optimal oasis. All that I ask of you, dear listener, is to ensure that your belt buckle is firmly fastened for another journey into the unknown. Taking mental snapshots of comet tails and celestial dust is highly recommended as we drift sweetly into our new destination. Save these snapshots within your scrapbook of dreams.
Each new endeavor we seek to undertake requires effort, and each effort requires resources and creative fuel. Sure, you could apply minimal effort and coast on closing your eyes tightly and shaking your head for 10 seconds to bring yourself out of a slump. But that sort of solution is not a problem solver at all. Rather, it is but a mere distraction like shaking a jar of wasps and expecting them to behave. Nay, dear listener, your reset and expulsion into the realm of rejuvenation requires a recoating of your grey matter with the sweet nectar of sound and color. This journey is designed to do just that. Feel the tingling sensation of new synapses awakening, old neurons developing fresh pathways, and a soulful re-awakening. Here, you will come to realize that there are indeed more peaceful pastures to explore and camp at. Spaceman's Transmissions is devoted to ensuring that your flight there is brewed with equal parts beauty, intensity, comfort, and solace. You have our guarantee or your money back.
So, drift into the spacecraft with your boy Tonepoet at the helm, and slowly (snail's pace) buckle yourself into your dream pod for an expedition through the cosmos. Together, we'll all make the journey to another tomorrow and seek to optimize ourselves by letting go of the troubled baggage and stocking up on positive atmospheric transmissions.

Hello, dear listeners, travelers of the celestial realm, and co-pilots. This new session evolves around the ethos of an album that I just put out entitled 'Bloom', and is one that ushers in a re-invention and reinvigorating of our mental and physical being. As we weather the storms of life's turbulent forces, we need enlightenment and encouragement so that we can pick ourselves up, knock of the dirt and negative vibes, and bring in a rebirth and passion for not only living but striving. That's it, dear listeners, striving!! And THRIVING!! It rhymes, and now all of a sudden I feel like Dr. Seuss. Working to be better tomorrow than we are today requires incremental steps. We hear the expression 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and, well, neither were we. Take the time in planning your re-entry into the world as a better version of yourself every single day. It requires mental energy to develop the creative means to plan our re-entry into our proposed new world, and it takes physical energy to implement those changes around us. But, the biggest and most effect change is within us, in our minds and hearts. Work to calibrate and synchronize these with your new mission. Expend the mental energy so that the task of pushing through your boundaries is well rewarded. This session is your comforting pillow of that much needed mental reset.
We at Spaceman's Transmissions propose that you set aside a quiet hour-ish of time to let everything go, and let the tapestry here guide you to the prairie of peaceful vibes. A place where you can assemble your collage of innovative endeavors which will bring your incrementally closer to where you view yourself. Fill in the gaps that separate where you are and where you want to be, as if you are patching holes in the wall for a fresh, new coat of colorful and vibrant paint. Through effort and realization of your potential comes the reward of a newly emerging you! The stormy night that you endured will pass over you, and the stage will reset for you to explore and set up for new scenes to create and thrive in. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Don't take your renewals for granted, dear listener. Celebrate each victory as a reward to yourself for reaching and surpassing milestone, not unlike traveling past a dark cosmic tide to reemerge into a realm of a breathtaking starlit field of beauty. I'm with you, dear travelers, and as your co-pilot I have full faith that your journey and effort will yield great success.
Okay, yes, as mentioned, shameless plug time (sorry!). I put our a new album entitled Bloom (of course) which can be found by going to https://www.tonepoet-music.com. My music was, is, and always will be free so that you can all have access to it. It is my gift to you, dear listeners, as my thanks for your attendance during the voyages that we undertake. Peace.

Dear listeners, I have a tale for you!! It was one of the best/worst thing to happen to me delivered by our sweet Mother Nature. I had been planning a camping trip for 1 whole year with a high school buddy (who only knows me only as a metalhead, shhhhhh......). He had never been to the mid-west, in any place like South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, or Idaho. I had, but for work-related travel, which was a soul sucking endeavor and left me devoid of any potentially wonderful life altering experiences. Our plan went from imagining to planning, and would take us to The Badlands, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Devil's Tower, Bighorn National Forest, Yellowstone Park, and beyond. It was going to be fantastic. I bulked up some snivel camping gear and I was ready. Imagine that: me, a sissy novice camper, eating barbaric foods over a fire and having a flexible agenda while listening to nature at night in a tiny tent. What could go wrong?
We didn't bother to plan more than a day in advance, just in case we liked something so much we decided to explore it more. How exciting!! The first day after flying into Rapid City, SD was the Badlands. We hiked all over it, went places where we probably should not have (including into a buffalo field about a mile's walk from our car, how very wise) and spent about 12 hours there. It was blissful! That night, we set up camp at a very basic campsite. I was awoken in the morning at about 2:30 to hear some distant thunder and some very light sprinkling that lasted about 30 minutes. Perfect. In the morning, the sweet breezes dried everything flawlessly. This is how it is all going to be. Or so I thought.
After another few days, we were succeeding, and confident. Nothing could defeat us! On the 3rd night, we set up camp at a popular chain camping place with great amenities and were nice and comfortable. We didn't even bother to see if it was going to rain. Like I said before, what could go wrong? Well, yeah, dear listener, I found out how wrong it could really go for us.
I was awoken that night at around 1:30, and there was a torrential downpour above us. Not only that, it sounded as though the wind was whipping at about 300 miles per hour, and massive hailstones were pummeling my tent. There were flashes of lightning that seemed like a thousand suns happening every 10 seconds and thunderclaps with deafening roars. Not gonna lie, I was extremely petrified. I could hear by buddy sneezing non-stop in his tent during it all (we were under pine trees, he has a very bad allergy) that multiplied my fear because I knew that the end is near! It lasted for 2 hours, and I buried my head within my sleeping bag and wondering why I thought that it was wise to sleep under a lightning rod, uh, I mean a tree, and planning my escape to the car at a moment's notice if needed. Dear listeners, I was relegated to the fetal position and turning back into the sissy camper that I really was. I was indeed back at square one.
When we woke in the morning, we had to carefully pack (after shaking out) all of our drenched gear and drove 5 hours to a hotel that was gracious enough to permit usage of a private room in which to completely dry out our gear. Dear listener, I made promise to Mother Nature that I would use my fortune of survival against the elements to create a session in the volume of the Camping Under The Stars series. I could only happily oblige. Even though Mother Nature can be comforting and offer serenity and peace, she also exists to put us in our places. She provides a balance of awareness, and offers us sanctuary. Remain cognizant of her beauty and power, respect her intentions, use this session to overcome your challenges, and invigorate your senses with monumental breakthroughs. Make the time to exercise your new mental awareness and gain a new appreciation and respect for Mother Nature in all of her beauty.
Shameless plug time!! The very last song is an original song of mine that will be released on an upcoming album (waiting on one last song to be mastered). You can find my music at https://www.tonepoet-music.com
Another very last thing, I did record a few sounds from this crazy camping trip and posted them to the app White Noise (I'm not affiliated with them, and I'm not endorsing anything, I just use the app). You can find those sounds HERE.

It is that time of year, dear listeners, where we once again set sail in the celestial sea of diamonds in search of a better tomorrow, and seek the renewal of our mental energy and creative awakening. I'm here to assist you in your voyage, as you know that your old boy Tonepoet would never expect you to navigate blindly through the ether. It is you who will guide this ship through the pathway of stars, and I am more than happy to be your severely relaxed co-pilot.
As we sail gently along this route, let's reflect on the things in the past that made us happy and engaged. As we bathe in this nostalgia, start to bundle up the negative energy and various letdowns of this past year so that we may set them afloat towards a black hole, never to be seen again. While you might not see it, there is a lighted path towards a better you, and a tree that sprouts positive vibe. Steer the craft towards this tree so that we may taste the nectar of positive energy and enlightenment. Understand that this tree withers and fades, and seems to lack the abundant life at times. Yet, this tree is constantly growing, even through the darker times, and replenishing it's weather beaten suit in effort to rise up in the seasons of growth and replenishment. This is not unlike us, dear listener, as we seek to keep growing, and still do so, even during the darkest of times. That period of perceived stagnation is only a readjustment. Use this to recalibrate your mind and energy. Awaken with your renewed strength.
While we become one with the light that burns brightly into a new tomorrow, close your eyes and feel the air move by you. It's subtle, but it's there, and that is out indication that we are still drifting toward a higher plane of existence. Take it in, and enjoy the journey. I will see you all in 2023. Peace.
BTW, Merry Christmas!! This is my gift to you, sorry that I couldn't wrap it somehow!

Hello, co-pilots and curious star hoppers. Welcome to Spaceman's Transmissions, your home away from home in the aural universe, and your most trusted source of inflight entertainment during that peaceful ascent into the ether. I'm aware that there are many of you out there that have given up on your ability of assembling the dream machine into a working apparatus. You dismiss dreams as an escapable entity, afforded to only a privileged few.
It seems as though we have all experienced the phenomenon of déjà vu at some points in our lives. Wasn't I here before, why is this familiar, don't I know this person from somewhere? In many cases, if we dug deep enough into the well of our own creatively subliminal souls, we could find that it was our own bubbling well of dream intuition which had brought us to that magical space. This proves that those dreams are there, somewhat hidden or obscured, by other pieces of information that create a cloud cover. My mission is to assist you in dissipating that cloud cover and leading you to the field of creative wonder.
Take steps to learn about lucid dreaming and documenting your dreams once you awaken. Find ways to be creative without being critical or dismissive of your artistic abilities. These practices will open a creative portal in which the tides of color and light will flow. No one is born and able to speak a language, ride a bike, or navigate a spacecraft to the stars. It's all a learned process that takes practice and determination. Navigating to the dreamer's landscape is no different.
We tend to dismiss obscure dreams as a hindrance, or an utter confusion of entangled nonsense and senseless weirdness. However, dear listener, it's much deeper than that. Travel to that forgotten land of dreams and build a mental bridge to your waking self. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Ah, dear travelers, it has been a good spring and summer so far for your old boy Tonepoet with lots of sightseeing in the West Virginia mountains, hiking in the hills of western Maryland, and traveling the mid-western states of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. I've climbed mountains, swam in waterfalls, and breathed in some of the cleanest air on earth while taking in sights that only our sweet Mother Nature can dispense. And through it all, my initial thoughts were 'if only I could contain my sense of awe and wonderment into a aural package and gift wrap as a present to my listeners'. Well, my wonderful co-pilots, why don't I do just that?----more----
Taking in the color-soaked sounds of this session guarantees an optimal listening experience. And, dear listener, I truly mean experience and not a passing distraction. As I have touched clouds, I seek the same for you all. Sink into your self, and slowly rise up to the layer of cottony softness in which we will find our craft of voyage. To merely listen is passe. To experience? Not only a goal but a requirement!
As you climb into your cloud-craft, maintain your position on the status of the mission. Be sure to balance the components for a successful journey: equal parts dreaming, wondering, elating, and prospering. Find your equilibrium and begin to slowly awaken the creative light within. It is your fuel, and the well that provides the sauce for this motor of mindful innovation will never run dry, provided you nurture it and visit it often. Just as this juice of inventive source rises to the surface, as does the sun beyond the horizon, shining a light that guides you to those places within that bring your dreams into focus.

Merely drifting aimlessly from one destination to another in effort to avoid turbulence (aka 'responsibilities') can sometimes be ideal to optimize mental energy and seek out momentary minutes of solace. However, one must put the brakes on at intervallic points with the sole purpose of enjoying colors of the blissful moments that abound. Not every instance of every day is one that you wish to freeze time within, but there are those pockets of subliminally divine moments for each of us that beg our undivided attention.

Finding the optimal time to sink into can be a daunting task. There was a time where your old boy Tonepoet was whining (yes, I do that from time to time) about not having enough time to do something, in which a co-pilot explained that I should make the time instead. Then he handed me a tissue. This, dear shipmate, is regaining focus, motivation, and purpose. For you, dear listener, this means that in order to sustain the fuel for your mental tank and to endure the effort of climbing higher, it is imminent that you focus on keeping your craft in tip-top condition. Yes, this requires that you dock said craft for necessary pits stop from time to time. Allow yourself to run to the pasture just beyond that pit stop into a pasture of dreams. Feel no guilt as you take this time to replenish and rejuvenate yourself within the soothing cosmic atmosphere. Look around you, listen around you, take it all in, and exchange your weary breath for a breath that is rich with mentally empowering nutrients. Ahhh, tastes like heaven. As we let go of everything for just a moment, find yourself and conduct repairs and maintenance upon you! When we are finished, realize that you are far more equipped to undertake challenges now that you invested some time and peace to yourself. The staff here at Spaceman's Transmissions understands your dilemmas, dear listeners. For this reason, we choose to offer our empathy through a pathway of sound; one that ushers you into a realm of contentment and solace. Every session brewed in the Spaceman's laboratory was carefully cultivated by the highest ingredients and balanced with equal measures of intensity, beauty, and wholesome nutrients. Morsels with an equilibrium of sonic nutrients and flavorful colors? Say no more.
----more----Do not be alarmed by the initial systems check of the pod, dear listener. It is a necessary precaution to ensure that your traveling arrangements are safe and secure so that we may traverse our destination without worry of derailment, or rather, distraction. Where are we going? Well, glad you asked. There is a cosmic ocean whose tides ebb and flow with cleansing potential. We will wade in the warmth of this current and bask in the beauty of a constellation that is unique in its stunning splendor.
As with every mission with Spaceman's Transmissions, we must expound upon our objective. In turbulent and disruptive times such as these, we shall repurpose our vision and direction. Your boy Tonepoet gets it: you are weary. I bind myself to an unwavering commitment of cradling you for a mere hour so that I may dip your mind into the chocolatey sweet syrup of rejuvenation. Having you as my co-pilot is a wish fulfilled, and providing a comforting blanket of cosmic wind is my pledge to you.
You know what? Enough jibba jabba already, let's depart for this freshly amalgamated sea of swirling colors by traversing the starry pathways of bliss. Take the controls, dear listener, and steer the craft towards the crystalline waters beyond the galactic wall. For it is there where we shall rest as we gather our thoughts and admire the glistening skyline with one another.

Welcome to your home away from home, your oasis of mental reset, and that place beyond the stars deep within the cosmic ocean of solace. This newly branded aural pool of euphoria ushers in 2022 and is one with special purpose and intention. By this title, your old boy Tonepoet is not telling you that you should dismiss your dreams, or that they are obstructions, or even that they are lifeless longings that you shelve in favor of 'responsibilities' (there's that word again, I hate that word). That is quite the opposite, dear listener. To dream is to feel alive, and turning those dreams into triumphs and memories, that is to actually live. This is the endlessly flowing river of potential where we want to find ourselves. Understand that the ebb and flow of the currents and tides might feel like a discourse, but it is merely a test of your drive and ambition to reach the higher ground.
----more----
So many time we hear the phrase 'live your dreams', and 'turn your dreams into a reality'. Dear listener, do I look as though I'm trying to sell books here? That's a big, fat negative. What I present is not a ploy or scheme, but an opportunity for us all to reassess our potentials and measure them up against our dreams. Find those gaps that exist between the two and fill them with effort and fortitude. If you don't dare dream it, you can never hope to plant your goal in the fertile garden of wishes.
I am here with you, dear listener, and as always nudging you in that direction towards your highest potential. Much change begins with the mind, and it is the mind that takes in aural cues for motivation and fuel for the victories over your challenges. Use this session as that replenishing fuel and creative mind-juice. In turn, take charge of those dreams and create memories from them.
Peace.
Turn on, tune in, dream big...

Shhhh, listener, do you hear that? Nothing? Well, you are correct. We need to focus on that nothing, see where it comes from, and embrace its existence. Today, we're seeking that oasis that creates moments of solitude and solace. At undefined intervals within you daily life, it is vital for you to sink into your personal think tank which allows the reverberation of your own thoughts and aspirations to develop and spring to life. This creative space is our moment in time to plant the seeds of creativity and peace.
----more----There is so much going on every day that we begin to lose sight of our own objectives. In doing so, we give a very vital piece of ourselves to those objectives and responsibilities (meh) that dull the sharpened blade of your mind. You can't see the forest through the trees. Now, it's time to cultivate the fertile land of your inner sanctum and grow your own forest of a flourishing wonderland.
Focus on the single thought that will bring your inner forest of beauty and depth into existence. Spend the time and effort to develop that seedling into a sapling with the care, attention, and love that promises to reciprocate its full potential of blessings. Feel free to add saplings of good thoughts and vibes, and care for them in your garden of beauty. Visit this sanctum often, as needed, to gaze and walk among the fruits of your own labor of love. Spending that time and effort pays in dividends which are indescribable yet rewarding. Enjoy your garden, as it it becomes the forest which you wander through in times of need, cultivating the carefully tended landscape which is the creative reflection among the echoing chamber of life.
Turn on, tune in, tend the garden...

We've arrived upon a new experience that is guaranteed to guide your flowering mind into a realm of solace as it engulfs your grey matter within a sea of illumination and color. With our feet firmly planted on the ground, there is nothing to say that we can't reach for the sky, letting our imaginative souls reveal the heavens above that we seek to drift among. Reach up, dear listener, and take hold of those elusive day dreams. Reward yourself with the pleasure that you experience while floating among the sweet nectar-like embers of creative energy.----more----
Our daily lives are filled with challenges and distractions. They are but obstructive branches in the river that hinder the flow to your creative island. Use this session to optimize a pathway that navigates us around these obstacles and into a current where day dreams take hold. I seek to merely guide you there, among the channels that spark your creative flow and ease your minds for a single mere hour. It is my gift to you, and I ask for zero in return other than assurance that I piloted your journey well.
Your old boy Tonepoet is here for you, and ever amalgamating voyages to the stars and beyond. Search out the artists within this session and keep dreaming. The featured artist for this session is the incredible ASHEN SWAN (who is, coincidently, the same artist A VEILED FRAME IN AMBER) and does SO MUCH MORE. Pay him a visit on BANDCAMP for some really incredible music. Turn on, tune in, dream on... https://www.tonepoet-music.com
Salutations, co-pilots of the cosmic landscape. Let's climb aboard our floating craft and drift along the astral plane. Destination: a colorful cerebral universe. Speed: a glacial pace. Outcome: successful ushering of brain sugar in the form of an aural transmission. Do not take this mission for granted. Actually, never take any mission for granted.----more----
The quest for unleashing your creative potential and igniting your synapses helps develop and therefore execute creative solutions that enable you in becoming more human than human and are not to be taken LIGHTLY! Sorry for yelling, listener, I'm better now. Mild freakout, but panic averted.
In the not so distant past, I released an album with another artist named CloudFall that was an honor and tribute to an event that I hold near and dear to my heart, and one that defines my childhood. The album is Taking Flight and was a concept of a single day in the life of a skateboarder from morning until evening. Nope, not kidding. You can find the album at www.tonepoet-music.com (as with all of my releases, it is free). Anyhow, I try to steer clear of using my own compositions (as I tend to favor avoiding self-appreciation and whatnot), however, I did use the opening track and that last two from my own catalog. I do like these songs, so I decided to use the title track and actually name this travelogue as such. Okay, enough lame self-gratification, I'm starting to get a rash.
This session has been optimized with only non-GMO, certified organic, all natural, detoxifying cognitive jelly. Do not be alarmed when this jelly coats your grey matter. The tingling is not unlike an aphrodisiac. I might add caution to operating heavy machinery as you soak up this amalgamation. You would never operate a hammer jack upon a floating balloon, would you, dear listener? Please answer 'no' to this. Now, then, let's carry on with this gentle yet uplifting mode of transportation and lightly drift through the clouds, shall we?
Turn on, tune in, take flight...

Hello, travelers, and welcome to a special edition of Spaceman's Transmissions. It is deemed essential that we take the time to calibrate our creative synapses that gently glide us through life's daily obstacles (I generally use the dirty word 'responsibilities', so ugly this word!). Let's turn challenges into goals, lemons into lemonade, and transform setbacks into a star chamber that is ripe for your journey to which you seamlessly pass through and emerge with a clear mind and a sense of self-ownership.
----more----While the title mentions the word 'lone', let it be known, dear listener, that your old boy Tonepoet would not abandon you during this liberating endeavor. Rather, it is you that is will set the controls in motion, allowing you to become both navigator and successor, emerging from this cocoon onto a celestial tapestry that will provide your direction and ambition. I am your co-pilot, here to assist with direction and motivation. It's what I do.
As we spend this mere hour thrusting into a galactic curtain, free yourself from the constraints that act as a negative gravity field and rob you of your potential to float above. If necessary, don't hesitate to engage in additional sessions with this tapestry in effort to develop the skill of performing the functions pertinent to frolicking in a cosmic garden of tranquility and inspiration.
Please do something good for someone today, as well as for yourself. Become the glue of humanity that positive events and fortune stick to and the rest of the human race will follow. Peace.

Look up at the night sky, dear listeners, and tell me what you see. A vast and empty curtain that swallows up light? A void riddled with tiny diamonds? A dark and lifeless pasture? Now, look past that, and begin to transcend above these former descriptions of the cosmic drape. It is the cosmic ocean, and it's much more vast than we can conceive.----more----
This galactic wall is graced with glistening stars like well-worn shells that are eroding to reveal a delicate sheen, illuminated planets that produce reflective shimmers not unlike ocean waves, and a stunning moon that drifts like a sand dollar in the sky. That is the true cosmic skyscape for all of us; the limitless sea of unimagined intensity and grace. See it for what it really is, and immerse yourself within its cleansing cosmic tide.
As we drift within the cosmic tide, give in to this ceremony of cleansing your senses and mind with the sweet nectar of this aural current of sound and light that carries you into the ether. Permit this current to guide you to that destination which yields an oasis of wonderment, purity, and self-purpose. It is here on this island within the star speckled ocean in which you are rewarded with an awareness of your potential and creative drive. Spark your ambitions with this flame of enlightenment.
The staff here at Spaceman's Transmissions takes deep pride in producing only the highest quality products for our clients. When your old boy Tonepoet steps out to get fresh air, do not assume that he has abandoned you as an aimless, drifting co-pilot without a mission or destination. This detour is only an effort to reassess an optimal pathway to our destination and to forge new means for attaining the zenith of our journey. You, the co-pilot, will always be vital to every voyage. So it is said.
An absolute acknowledgement and ridiculously extreme 'thank you' goes out to Uplifting Pills for not only serving up like-minded initiatives, but for hosting this mix and being an amazing resource and friend. Cheers, Ala! Tune into UPLIFTING PILLS (http://uppmixes.com) and show some love.
Peace.

In my particular sector upon Mother Earth, the days are getting shorter and colder, and seeing the sun in the morning is a ceremony that seems lost. Even with sleep being a hobby of mine, I nonetheless cherish that small bit of time that I get to spend watching the sun birth from the edge of the world. It takes longer and longer, and I often wonder if I will indeed spend the entire season in the shadows while anticipating a daily thaw from that voyaging star of illumination.----more----
Winter in my sector of our spinning globe is getting shorter, and my good friend the Sun has been taking this opportunity to hibernate and prepare us for an awakening. My moments within this solar tide are limited. What time that I do have basking in the golden rays become a ceremonious event. While I love my sleep (oh, how I do!), these sacred bites of time with the Sun illuminate the dismal fog that can from time to time pollute the mind with lethargic motion, breaking away the layer of smog that dampen creative flow and an ocean of solace and joy.
This tapestry was amalgamated using the freshest ingredients with only organic means of production and distribution. Utilize this solar prescription to climb to a place closer to this cosmic lightbulb.

Hello to all of you travelers floating in the ether. It's not anything new: times are tough, and 2020 is turning out to be a disappointing year with a lot of turmoil, unrest, and terrifying unknowns. Is there nowhere to go to escape the problems of the modern age?----more----
Yes, dear listener, there is. As you read this, I'm unfurling my parachute and checking the straps and seams to ensure that more than one passenger can take this voyage just beyond the (at times) dark present upon Mother Earth and float just above the surface and into a layer of light and solace. While you might think that it is absolutely silent and free of turbulence where we will soar, it is indeed not. However, from every dark moment, a light appears as if to shine down on a struggling seed to bust through the soil and find new life, purpose, and direction.
Your open mind will provide the jet stream in which we will wander, and your creative flow will breathe life into the air currents that will lift us just above and beyond that which we seek to circumvent.
As we take this journey, realize that there are peaks and valleys of surface tension, and it is the ultimate test to you, dear listener, to enhance that mental muscle and develop your ninja sense to comprehend that while we skim along the darkness, we persist so that we may soar effortlessly among the periods of good fortune and its rewards. You are but a floating seed in the sky, so take this time to germinate and blossom while adrift. I'm counting on you.
Do what you can for the world, for people, and for yourself to move ever forward no matter how slight it may seem. Enhance the lives of others so that your life will be rewarded with centering yourself with those you lift up. Keep your head up (and in the clouds at times if needed) and know that better times are always just a comforting breeze away.
Turn on, tune in, let's go...

Once again, it is time to amalgamate a tapestry derived from the goldmine of Bandcamp (and beyond). As the weather begins to melt the frigid layer of our hibernating pods, we begin to see, hear, and feel our beloved Mother Earth awaken. ----more----In doing so, she invites us to enjoy her beauty, preserve her sanctum, and commemorate an event that truly resonates life and rebirth. It is time to revive, sleepers! Let's awaken in unison with Mother Earth and reinvigorate our mental and spiritual energies that keeps our synapses firing with progressive thoughts of art, music, and joy. Yes, let's become hippies. Clean, social distancing hippies.
Joking aside (but not really), now is the time to plan what you will do to express your gratitude to our delicate and beautiful Mother Earth for another amazing voyage around the sun. Since last year, I've started spending my time with family on a short camping trips, sharing campfire stories, roasted (and sometimes burnt) marshmallows, hiking adventures, and a sense of appreciation for the natural phenomenons that we take for granted. Since we, meaning you (dear listener) and myself, share the craft in which we transverse the celestial heavens together, I cannot help but consider you family. Therefore, I require your attendance for this journey to be a successful one. While we practice social distancing, you should nonetheless know that as your camping guide (me!) is just a thought away and sworn to keeping the cherished listeners that chart these waters close in spirit.
Though we experience the challenge of distance, our spiritual connection through this amalgamated aural mosaic allows us to share this experience with one another. I have shared my flight pod with you, and thus, I shall share my tent with you as well. With that said, we will exercise social distancing, yet share our stories with a comforting campfire between us.
In taking in the tapestry, please be sure to pay a visit to the many artists that shared the labor of weaving this dreamy session and let them know that your camping co-pilot Tonepoet sent you. Okay, climb in, get comfortable in your sleeping apparatus, and indulge in this soundtrack created for camping under the stars. Peace.

Now that we've dipped our toes into the celestial heavens on our last voyage (in effort to gauge the cascading ripples of the skyward current), it is safe to say that the celestial oceans are now at ideal conditions for our immersion. Current systems here at Spaceman's Transmissions are at 100% capacity for a deep dive to the depths of that twilight beyond own galactic curtain.
----more----Within the safety of our individual listening pods, we will transverse across the obstacles of time and space, and for a mere hour we'll lose ourselves while soaring just above and beyond the terrestrial horizon that we feel bound to. Have comfort in knowing that the systems integrations for interstellar travel are of top priority here at Spaceman's Transmissions. Our staff maintains that successful flight and the aural experience potential is at the upmost importance for our innumerable well pleased clients.
While we expect the turbulence to be at a mere minimum upon this flight, keep in mind that safely buckling in gives one even more peace of mind and an allowance to more freely gaze upon the remarkable celestial monuments that we'll encounter. Seeking an optimal listening position or scenario is ideal for squeezing the sweet nectar of space travel into a glass in which you consume your ears, mind, and imagination. Letting go for a minuscule amount of suggested time provides you, the listener, the most favorable conditions in which to successfully complete the voyage with minimal interruptions (also known as 'responsibilities'). Such an ugly word, it gave me a rash to mention it. But, I digress......
So, watch your head getting into the pod, make yourself comfortable, fasten your seatbelt, and prepare to catch aural glimpses of the many engaging morsels of cosmic delight. Enjoy your flight, and, as always, it's a pleasure to serve as your co-pilot here at Spaceman's Transmissions.

Hello, and many greetings, dear listeners. I wandered a bit off course in effort to calibrate the controls to enable us optimal performance in drifting above the grey clouds above that we believe to our limitations. Let us be on our voyage.----more----
While you would think that reaching just beyond this curtain of grey is the final destination of achieving your zenith, this is merely the prologue to life's true journey. Just beyond that lies a sky of blue which will give you a better glimpse of the sparkling cosmos. Beyond that which you cannot see or fathom is your true potential. No one can tell you where that ends, and you yourself cannot even know, as it is not the end of the journey that matters, it is the journey itself.
The journey's end is a vital goal, but reaching that does not unveil your potential. The arc of your potential is actually a milestone to a greater thing. Reach beyond the sky, grasp your real dream and live to be the better you.
Turn on, tune in, go above and beyond...

Let's embark to a distant whereabouts that is virtually impossible to see through the clouds. It's there, but you won't see it if you fail to imagine and visualize. Your imagination and belief will permit you to soar into the wind and higher than the reaches of turbulence and static. ----more----It is within this place that your mind finds peace, your spirit finds joy, and your ears steer your destiny. As you drift slowly towards this objective, feel free to let the pillow-like squishy reassurance of cloud cover envelope you in skies of white. This fluffy blanket seeks to yield you a hiding place for you to collect your thoughts, as if you were collecting and sorting pebbles found in a pond. This action allows you to reanimate your purpose and direction. At this point, the controls of your craft are enhanced to enable you to soar with greater control to your defined destiny.
Use this tiny segment of time within your life to replace that dulled bulb of your past with a fresh, new glowing source that emanates confidence, control, and a renewed self-awareness. This illuminating source of light will burn the debris that causes you stress, and, in doing so, frees your mind and untangles your soul. Emerge from your cocoon and fly high!
Thanks for traveling with Spaceman's Transmissions, and I hope that your flight is a pleasant one. We, the staff, look forward to servicing you on another flight and wish you the best. Peace.

Salutations, my friends. We've had a good few voyages that have led us to new creative boundaries, and it is yet again time to board the space pod for a trek into and through the majestic cosmos. We'll be temporarily enveloped in the sparkling light that illuminates the non-reflective void of space as we set the controls for a new destination of solace and beauty.----more----
To believe that this particular outing does not include you, or that you have no time for the journey, is to be very mistaken. It is a fallacy to insist that the space pod co-piloted by your boy Tonepoet has limited seating and will steal your time away without any incentive. There was a time when I complained I didn't have enough time to do anything until a good friend (with way more complications, liabilities, and responsibilities than I) told me that it is useless to find the time and rather we must make the time. Set aside this piece of the day for yourself to rejuvenate and re-calibrate those vital synapses that are necessary to keep your forward momentum pushing into the stars.
While there are so many issues and things of importance in your life that seem to overshadow your own preservation and well-being, these issues can't find their way to the path of resolution without that vehicle of transportation being in tip-top shape. That vehicle that I'm referring to is your own vessel: the physical, spiritual, and mental self. Take this mere hour-ish of time to realize that you are indeed an individual of importance that is needed and valued as an asset to Mother Earth. Don't forget that despite the obstacles that distract you and weigh you down are not as important as you the individual. When you feel as though the pressure of insignificance bears down on you, press it back up with elephant legs and push through. You matter, and the crew here at Spaceman's Transmissions is depending upon you as a team member to assist in flight control guidance.
Keep in mind that you matter and that the world has not forgotten you no matter how deep in the mire of responsibilities and turmoil you seem to have waded into. Use this session to recharge your sense of being and to rise back to the top. I'll be standing by with another session of renewal and a towel for you to dry off. Peace.

When the skies turn grey, our minds tend to close in on themselves as an attempt to both provide cover for our fragile creative grey matter as well as a spiritual shield that helps us fast forward to the next sunny day, the next bright moment. ----more----The skies I'm talking about are both the physical and the metaphorical. The metaphorical being the darker moments that seem to weave in and out of the better moments during our journey upon Mother Earth. If we had no setbacks, no dips in our our good fortune, and no dull moments within the glistening sea of bliss, we would not have an accurate way to measure our successes. We would not have a reliable means to balance our joy against the temporary grain, and the value of our rejoicing would be lost.
Let's dip our toes into a puddle of equally balanced light and dark, of perfectly brewed yin and yang. With this particular journey, take the stress that weighs you down, put it in a basket, and let if seep into the tiny puddle that flows to the sea. Every venture with Spaceman's Transmissions is intended to be an enlightening path that picks up the rough stones of turmoil and shines them into shiny pebbles that light the way. Take repeated listens to this episode when you feel you've lost your way and need a bit of guidance through the color and light that the staff here seek to share. Along the way, be sure to share a bit of good vibe with those around you in need of that guidance. That's karma. Peace.

Let's embark on a path that takes us to to the edge of the world to get a glimpse among the stars. We'll need a special tapestry to aid us in our liftoff and provide us with security while experiencing zero gravity. Do not be afraid of letting your mind go for a mere hour of the journey. Rest assured that you old boy Tonepoet will guide you safely during every phase of our semi-astral deployment (I am and will always be right alongside you during our journeys). ----more----
It is time to find that envelope that separates the seam of our world and the beyond. Within this envelope is a key that could be hidden in a tight corner pocket of the envelope, just out of sight. We can't find it with our eyes, we find it with our ears and mind. Use this key to start the engine to the pod that we will call our home for this session. The eyes create a specific friction that we call 'distraction' and it robs us of our peaceful and effortless travels to that universe where we unlock the secrets of creative mobility and boundless potential. It isn't our eyes to create pathways that are instrumental in the creative means to achieve situational success. Rather, it is our minds that are the Rube Goldberg machinery for which we develop our innovative resolve. Let's assemble that aural contraption that brings us closer to understanding that galaxy beyond our own. With this said contraption, we will succeed staying grounded while having a head full of stars. A complex yet perfected amalgamation of space music and earthy colors allows us to saddle these alternately diverse scenarios.
There is nothing wrong with having your head in the clouds (or the stars) and keeping your feet planted firmly upon Mother Earth. As we taste the stars and bathe within the cosmos, allow yourself to become replenished and renewed with an appreciation of your existence. Share this session with a fellow traveler in need of aural transmission to escape the hum-drum of their routine.

Hello, fellow travelers of light and sound. It is I, Tonepoet, your host here at Spaceman's Transmissions and co-pilot of the pod that will once again allow us to drift above and beyond the real turmoil that exists all around us. It is with concentrated effort that we will construct a journey that glides on sound, far above and beyond the terminal frosting of our beloved Mother Earth. ----more----In fulfilling the suggested lighted path of our course, we will find that it gives us a rebirth of creative focus. Give yourself a mere hour on this flight to rise above the worldly concerns that prohibit our necessary flow that brings peace, comfort, and a sense of self-worth.
It is winter (for half of the world, and definitely where I am) right now. The days are shorter, the nights colder, and our bodies seek to adjust to new and unwelcome situations like frigidly uncomfortable hands and feet. As most might believe that the world is dying during this season, that assumption is far from the truth. Mother Earth is merely adding a coat of wax to her beautiful figure so that the journey through the blue starlit ether is a smooth one. Rather than lamenting on the process, let us celebrate this vital step that guarantees us a transformed shiny, new vessel that will sail us through the galaxy. Call it a necessary evil, but it is more likely a replenishing hibernation. Realizing that our drift is not to ignore the glorious event that is unfolding (that event called 'winter'), but rather an assessment of the value that it truly possesses.
One last thing. This session, while calibrated for the period of winter solstice, is available and free for use in any season. Come back to it anytime you want, even if only as a reminder that there is a period of renewal that yields a brighter horizon. Peace.

I will forge forward and promise much more content this year than last.)

It's been a good while since I've had the opportunity to sit down and review a good bit of the music that I've been sent (thank you all for sending music, I've gotten so very much and it means a lot to me!). During that time, I've had to tend to some personal matters. This required a re-routing of my original destination in effort to assist wandering souls in calibrating their compasses to pinpoint and sustain an optimal voyage destination. ----more----It can sometimes feel as though it is a thankful task, but it never goes unnoticed. Touching the hearts and souls of others is and will always be the reward for which no monetary value can determine.
Throughout any turmoil from others as well as myself, I sought to lose myself within the colorful universe of our collectively cherished existence: the beauty and solace of music. Even now as I present to you my travel log that exposes my deepest thoughts, I am swimming deeply in an ocean that is created by swirling magical colors, riding a peaceful current of pillow-soft dreams, and capturing the visions that will never have capable words to describe them. It would be selfish of me to not break off a piece of this hypnotically beautiful confection to share with like-minded wandering travelers. Rather than to present raw ingredients without appropriate instructions, I relish that ability to package this experience into a digestible morsel for your ears and mind. This offering is certified organic and uses only the freshest ingredients for every palate to enjoy. And it's allergy-free!
This particular session is guaranteed to rearrange the mental clutter that is slowing your creative mind, all by attaching a saddle to your dreams and ambitions with the intent that you will guide that personal journey. Your grey matter is stronger than any computer that will ever be built, but it is also susceptible to way too much useless static. This static robs your synapses of ability and dirties up your creative thoughts, all while borrowing precious space within your mental universe that should otherwise be used for those things in life that truly inspire you. This mix is also a safeguard against the impending turmoil that creeps up like a dark foreboding cloud and seeks to light a path of illumination and resolution.
Use this session as an awake or asleep time to collect, gather, and sort your clutter. Rearrange and recycle yourself, and keep the coals hot with inspiration.
Peace.

shameless plug: I put out a new album and I'd love for you all to enjoy it. It can be found here: https://tonepoet.bandcamp.com/album/taking-flight or also on all streaming media (search 'tonepoet'). Remarks complete.
Let us gather up our mental baggage for a drop into the deep blue abyss of space. In undertaking this mission, our soul purpose is to sort out the tribulations of life that are weighing us down. As we sail into the cosmos, allow the weightlessness of space to assist you in gathering up and sorting the difficulties that you face into manageable statuses of priority. Tackle these situations with the determination that you will succeed in the task of putting them behind you with a closure of your desiring. ----more----Rely on those that have looked to you for guidance in such circumstances with the understanding that a team of cosmonauts will always outweigh the effectiveness of the sole traveler. Remember to return favor when they need you, and assure them of your gratitude with the gift of friendship.
This session will serve as your in-flight entertainment, and there is no additional cost for such an amenity aboard this flight. As the captain of this flight (that's me), your attendance as the co-pilot is greatly appreciated. Even with the controls manned by myself in this venture, you are nonetheless a very vital asset to this mission. Together, we will take on the obstacles that seek to sway the path and obstruct your success. Let us witness the cosmos in a way that is unique to each of us, taking in sights and sounds designed to renew our minds and souls. Thanks for boarding this flight with me, I look to many more ventures together in the future. Keep on keepin' on. Peace.

Now that springtime is here (and summer approaches), our beautiful Mother Earth is awakening and renewing once again to celebrate another rotation around the Sun. Where I live, the weather had maintained a winter chill that was abnormal. Although the trees are trying to sprout their leaves and the butterflies yearned to dance, the world around me was still clinging to jackets. The turbulent minds of many were clouded and not susceptible to witness the monumental event of Mother Earth's transformation. ----more----I ask you to step into this session in effort to escape to a place that exists full of your expectations of beauty and solace. Take that fog that burdens your mind and mutate it into a blanket of comfort and assurance.
I am aware that by the time this session hits your ears and mind, the weather will have already made a shift. But this is not about the weather, it is more about the chaotic events that swirl and envelope you in dire times which fabricate the mental fog that dulls our senses. As we spend this mere hour-ish amount of time to inwardly assess our current course aboard Mother Earth, we should not be bogged down by the negative pressure which seeks to compress and dissipate our desires, decisions, and wishes. Even when events don't work out in our favors, there is still something to be gained. Just as these events us forever who we are, it is in our best interest to find the why. This is to say that the outcome is not as important as the journey that brought us there. Savor the path, embrace the change, and refine yourself into the newer you that rises above the fog.

We are slowly thawing out from winter's harsh sting, and with springtime upon us, it means that life is once again ready to begin flourishing with a renewal of beauty and wonder. Oh, how I relish the warmth and comfort of this ceremonial event when the days becoming longer and Mother Earth sings us lullabies of being alive! ----more----To show my gratitude to this celebration, I toiled in creating the perfect backdrop to welcome this festively monumental recycling of the beauty that we are rewarded that is all around us. Use this session to realize and appreciate Mother Earth's selfless service in delivering us another year in which to look backwards as well as forwards in an effort to perceive the magnitude of life which we should appreciate.
It must be noted, that this session is not meant to wake the soul from a slumber (that is never the sole mission of Spaceman's Transmissions), but rather to greet our waking Mother Earth with the commemoration of rebirth. You may rest easy, dear listener, and take comfort in knowing that our mission here is not being altered or misaligned. Do not emerge from your position of solace and mental prosperity with some alerted sense of discomfort. Rather, envelope your aura with a greater sense of solace in knowing that Mother Earth is providing a venture for you as your travel on her back.
In posting this particular session, I wanted to bring to light an amazing release that is a required item for every library. I chose to purposely open and close this mix with songs from Colliding Galaxies' release FIRST CONTACT. It is an unbelievably incredible album that I highly recommend. It is a pay-what-you-want release, can't beat that. Do yourself a favor and check this artist out. Solid releases from an astounding new artist, I'll be sure to keep up with him and keep sharing the love.

After a very brief (yet well warranted) detour on our journey through the cosmos, our mental space pod is once again ready for boarding to yet another destination that is not altogether definable. Rather, the journey that we are undertaking is to collect the many surreal images that our beloved universe possesses. ----more----With this session of aural projection, I've granted your mind's eye an opportunity to gain snapshots of beauty and solace as we drift to the edge of the universe. While you might be tempted to take a giant leap past the galactic wall to satisfy your temptation, it is at this event horizon that we will rest, and reminisce about everything in life that has made it such an amazing voyage for you. We will also use this opportunity to realize that your glass is always half full, and that whatever grief or anguish that seems to weigh you down is indeed weightless in space. At this time, allow yourself to release this baggage to be devoured by the forgiving cosmos. During this ceremony, realize that it is not the destination itself that makes you who you become, but rather the journey to that destination.
As we let this session burrow its way into our ears and mind, let us not forget that the universe exists in a quite small space, smaller than what you imagined. We can assume that it lies entirely within that space between your ears. This is the space that matters the most, as it stores our precious memories, dreams, and wishes. It creates the colors and plots the passage to the bigger and better things in life for which we strive. Nourish this space with optimal means provided to allow yourself the benefit of reaping optimum solutions. For this purpose, I've amalgamated these tapestries for you, dear listener, in hopes that you will gift the same vibes to those around you in an attempt to make your universe a uniquely stellar one. Drift on and find that peace.

It is time once again, dear listen, to recognize and celebrate those who grace BANDCAMP with the presence of their aural artistry. I'm continuously inspired and in awe of the amazing vibes that live and breathe on Bandcamp, searching for a home within our minds and ears. ----more----With a small bit of searching, one can reap the benefits of the artistic fruits that creative artists have toiled over, with hopes that their creations will find a new world to take root in and germinate within us. Color your world with this session, and enable your mind's eye to relish the beauty and integrity that these artists present to you. I am but only a lone traveler and advocate among the cosmos that puts the wrapping paper upon the gift with hopes that you will taste the chocolate and search out those that have created the confection for you. No calories will haunt you as you allow yourself to surrender to its addictive nature.
If you are interested in finding these releases (only 3 of them require payment, the rest were free), pay a visit to my sister site (http://ambient-transmission.blogspot.com) and search 'Camping With The Stars' to find links to the artists' Bandcamp pages as well as links to the releases themselves. Please pay them a visit, and if you decide to purchase anything, take comfort that you in turn are inspiring the artists to keep producing an intoxicating sweet nectar of musical juice. Make sure that you let them know that Tonepoet sent you by way of Spaceman's Transmissions.
Side note: only 3 of the releases cost me anything, the rest is pay-what-you-want. Can't beat that.

Hello, weary space travelers. Today, we are embarking on a special journey that is manned by two cosmic pilots that are both certified dream weavers and licensed in sonic amalgamation studies. I'm blessed by the attendance of a qualified technician in the field of aural science in an effort to tweak this morsel to its optimal state of flavor with maximum mentally digestive capabilities.----more---- Together, with the rewarding and inspiring assistance of COSMIC CAVEMAN, we were able to build a strong team of like-minded and goal-oriented unity. Collectively, we designed a tapestry that is beyond our initial prototype of a journey that begins and ends in a surreal dream world.
Dreams are an unpredictable affair, and as they form and unravel at whatever rate it is that they do, we are rewarded with a universe that is unique to the individual. We ask that you open the gates to your mind, and allow that space that exists between your ears (to include your ears) a safe haven for the unfurling of this voyage. We assure you that within this union of sound you will have the opportunity to add your own dreams as a glue to further solidify the significance of this offering. Even the negative meanderings perhaps need to surface to the light to bring about new creative solutions and recognition. Use that as an opportunity to right the wrongs and find your way.
Cosmic Caveman and I hope that you personally enjoy the experience that we've created for you. To hear more of his deeply sincere admiration of the ambient realm, visit his MIXCLOUD page and take in some delicate journeys. We very much hope that you continually seek a creative and mentally prosperous mental universe. Follow that path to your innovative higher self. Peace.

Just recently I got to take a trip home. I was able to get my head right and fill it up with a good bit of nostalgia. I've lived the majority of my life away from where I was born (which I will always consider my home), and even though I'm still fascinated by the many ventures that I've taken (I've lived in a few different countries and have traveled extensively throughout the US), there really is no place like home. ----more----As persistent as I've tried to be escaping home, it always still draws me back with some sort of invisible force created by my memories. Trying to separate that seed from the tree is a very futile and meaningless event. I've always looked at those who chose to live close to the place where their favorite childhood memories were birthed and didn't really understand how these people didn't move on. Now, I can say that I understand and sympathize with those individuals.
Let's keep in mind that our home is truly where the heart is, and being surrounded by those that you love and those that love you defines home. I'd like to pay homage to that feeling of belonging and yearning that is created by a special place within this universe that you choose to let a part of you mind and soul to surrender. This could be anywhere for anyone, and every single spot is unique to its occupant. Take this music to drift to the place that you call home, either physically or mentally.
For this session, I've interlaced the selections with familiar sounds of my happy home, past and present. Use this tapestry to return to the good times that exist within your mind and embark on a journey that takes you to the the front door of sacred and treasured events that made you the unique person that you are today.

Today we will continue a journey that we began a while back, and in doing so, we will step off with the same tapestry that we ended with on that first leg of the venture. Our desire to remain in a state of fluidity is driven by the need to coexist with those factors which seem to deplete our mental and creative flow and disrupt progress and forward momentum. Let's not create the current which exists to carry us upward and onward, but rather surrender to the woven colors and enter a dreamlike state where we rise above our earthly floor. This is where we can put our obstacles in better perspective to achieve our dreams.
----more----As you begin your drift, be sure to mute cell phones and other distracting devices so as to fortify and enhance the experience of taking in every possible creative morsel to fill you hungry mind. With a blank slate, you will be able to craft your own artistically driven journey with colors that only you imagine and execute into a carefully developed tapestry. Hang this beautiful creating that is unique to you within that universe of your mind that holds the things which you cherish and save for later times when called for. Enjoy the journey and keep drifting. Peace.

Hello, fellow cosmic dwellers, and welcome to the latest edition of Spaceman's Transmissions. This journey will require us to transcend a bit higher than our earthly floor to get a bird's eye glimpse of the celestial body that we call Mother Earth. During our travels, we'll seek to exist just above the surface of whatever turmoil and disruptions lie below our comfortable ceiling, and put into perspective all of the situations that need our attention and consideration. ----more----With this calibration of mental facilities, our goal is to then seek the answers to the many puzzles that life throws us, with a renewed creative focus that will effortlessly untangle the mysterious responsibilities that cause friction and turbulence. All that we here at Spaceman's Transmissions ask is to allow yourself the single hour within your day to let go and find solace, peace, and comfort in the tapestry of color and sound. Allow this collage entry into your unsettled mind in effort that it will untangle the situations that bind you to what ails you. Your mission, should you accept, is to seek and implement the peacefully subliminal flow so that you may assist others with turbulent situations in an effort to pay it forward.
The utmost amount of attention and care were utilized in an effort to allow the highest allowance of aural benefit. Our sound labs were recently sterilized and our readings correlated with the highest standards in accordance with dream laboratories worldwide. We guarantee that this journey is safe for lactose intolerant individuals, is kosher, fat-free, and high in supplements of sugar-free ear candy. Feel free to share generous bite sizes of this offering with those that you care about. Peace.

Knowing this, you are equipped with the knowledge that your journey belongs to you alone. Right now, no one's experience is more important than your own.
I am delighted to have been able to discover a lot of very good music. In the near future (which means not a whole lot, really!), I would like to present a few more reviews of releases. Some of my recent discoveries include DISPOSABLE PLANET, MUSICFORMESSIER (whose output with various other guises is absolutely staggering), ENDLESS MELANCHOLY, and some of the artists that I have found from HEARTHIS.AT. Many thanks for the inspiration!
A special thanks to my friends at HEARTHIS.AT for allowing me to take part in gluing their compositions to my collage (CJMASOU and AMBIENT MECHANICS). I would love to have the opportunity to use more tracks from these amazing soundscape technicians.

Greetings, voyagers. Today we'll undertake an eventful journey that is geared towards getting our minds properly adjusted for creativity and peace. All I ask you for, dear listener, is just roughly an hour of your time. If possible, the use of headphones or ear buds is recommended to separate the existing physical world (which can at times deliver too much chaos and disruption) from the cerebral world. It is within this cerebral world that you will realize your potential and emerge from your cocoon with reestablished purpose and clarity. You might not realize it, but this small space between your ears holds a galaxy that is unique and vibrant. Feed it with food of color and sound.----more----
The caring 24-7 staff at Spaceman's Transmissions have worked diligently on this session, ensuring that it is calibrated to the highest degree. We understand that this can be a continuous process, and therefore have designated this first journey as 'Vol. 1'. More required sessions will follow points in time with each session beginning where the last one left off. The sessions will be sporadic and unannounced. Always be ready.
Find your peace within this turbulent world, and take in the new vibes that are presented in this colorful aural package. When you need to escape the physical world and its taxing requirements, please rest assured that this session will always be here to guide you into a new world of solace and comfort. This underlying sentiment is the basis of our mission statement.

Now that we've managed to take in some new sights and sounds on our last detour, we must once again aboard the space pod for another dimensional thrust into galaxies of wonder and solace. Mental calibration is essential for a successful journey. Below are instructions for getting the most out of this particular session.----more---- You may perhaps notice that there are gradual shifts from one color to another, with each color representing a point of interest in our journey. Embrace these transformations with your mind's eye as this will create a backdrop of creative flow and a better understanding of those situations which impede your creativity. Your pilot for this journey will relay vital information that should not so much be heard as it is felt. Adjust accordingly.
Every mission at Spaceman's Transmissions is executed first and foremost with the consideration to its listeners. Each individual's aural perception is dependent upon the magnitude of their surrender to the sonic tapestries. It is suggested that you do not operate heavy machinery when taking in this session in particular. Those susceptible to more gravitational pull within their minds and a wider mental galaxy in which to spread the music will benefit at a much higher rate. This is guaranteed.
Please enjoy responsibly, and spread the word of Spaceman's Transmissions. Thanks for your choosing to travel with us, and please keep us in mind for your next intra- and inter-stellar voyage. Peace.

Quite a while ago, as a few might remember, was an amazing ambient mix blog entitled 'HYDROGEN CAFE'. Actually, it's (kind of) still there (inactivated in 2010). There was a bit of a faithful following, and it was this blog as well as LOW LIGHT MIXES that set me on my way. When I was living in Alaska, I yearned for the moments in the dead of winter in which I would play these mixes and watch the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) dance in the sky. ----more----My favorite mixes were the 'Music For Stargazing' sessions, and they accompanied in my night time slumber when I was left to exercise my stargazing sessions within my mind.
This is my tribute to the elusive 'nrvnet' who curated the site and brought me many hours of solace and wonder. Wherever you are out there in cyberspace, thank you for your vision and inspiration. I hope that this mix will inspire you, the listener, to do something that you love and enjoy, and realize that your actions make a bigger impact upon people that seek guidance and find solace and joy within sounds and color.
Now that the days are sadly getting shorter and our daylight is decreasing, we should still find reasons to celebrate our journey on Mother Earth. Use this music for just that purpose. Delve into the universe that exists within a very small plane: the space between your ears.

Today we're honoring those precious moments that exists between sleeping and waking. This tiny sensation might seem unimportant, but it is a very delicately balanced phenomena that requires your investment. The mission here is to usher in the day and to wind the gears of your waking mind, while allowing a passage that melds the sleeping and waking, as well as night to day. Spaceman's Transmissions is dedicated to providing the optimal amount of aural care that is required so as to not disrupt a good mental flow that is required to set the listeners up for success.----more----
During this session, we will move within tapestries of solace and bliss. This will simulate those moments between sleeping and waking and your reentry into the waking world will be a smooth journey. Or your money back.
As you feel each color melding into another, realize that you are secure in the blanket of tranquility. Know that our journey is a temporary transition from one state to another, and be comforted that Spaceman's Transmissions is a trusted source of travel among the cosmos. Our proven track record will attest to that.
Make sure that your mind's eye is calibrated to take beautiful photos of the mental galaxy that will be the backdrop during your journey. These images will comfort you when the waking day is a stressful and turbulent reality. Reflect on the beauty and creativity that makes you a unique and interesting soul.
Peace.

Let's prepare for a journey into the realm of summer by celebrating the solstice (which was, by the way, the 21st of June). It was officially the longest day of the year and the midway point in summer. This means that, unfortunately, the days will begin to get shorter. Knowing this, I've toiled in developing a colorful scene to ease you into the remaining warm months, aware of the importance of aligning and balancing your conscious thoughts within your subconscious mind. Every step was taken to assure that your entry into a mental overhaul is optimal.----more----
Summer is by far my favorite time of the year. It brings and energy and renewal that I've been yearning for a very long time. Even with things not completely going my way, Mother Earth has a way of shining a light upon the turmoil that may exist and depletes my anguish. If there is one small tribute that I can muster, it's this.

Hello, fellow space travelers. The mental space pod is still in need of extreme re-calibration and its navigation system was recalled. ----more----We had wandered off course to various destinations that were setbacks in our initial mission, but were necessary to insuring that future explorations would be warranted and successful. We have now set on a course to break through the atmosphere and gravity that binds us to earthly turmoil and terrible things called responsibilities. With our new course underway, Spaceman's Transmissions seeks to circumvent any unnecessary diversions brought on by various hindrances. This is a temporary journey, but one that was required due to the extremely inspiring colors that had drifted into focus.
Please ensure that your entire body is in a comfortable position that allows for maximum cerebral intake of color, light, sound, and vibe. You'll notice that there are no restraints within the mind-pod that will house you for your journey that we will embark upon. Rather, there are suggestive measures that one should keep an open mind to take in beauty and solace to enhance the experience of this soundtrack. This session is designed for entering a state of mental orbiting that will take us to places that you've abandoned or forgotten. This offering of sonic morsels was not designed with anyone in mind but you, dear listener.
This creation of meticulously crafted sonic wallpaper is one that is to assist you in reclaiming your cerebral galaxy and reforming it to enhance your creative life with clarity, focus, renewal, and ambition. Take it in, and feed the hunger that can only be satisfied with sound.
Thanks for your support, and I hope that this flight will create the vibe that you are in need of.

Greetings. If this posting title seems a bit apocalyptic (or cryptic), well, it kind of is. I've done a lot of deep thinking over the last few months and I've decided that it's time to send the spaceman home and end the mission. It's been a fun journey, and the experience of creating mixes and meeting people has been unreal. I have to say, that I really only set out to make a few mixes, maybe have a blog for about a year at the most, and move on. ----more----It turned out to be a bit more than that, and the time and effort that I put into making it (somewhat) successful has been very overwhelming at times. I really enjoy making the mixes, finding the tunes within my library, listening, working on the site, and so on and so forth. It was kind of a test to see if I even had an aptitude to do such a thing (many, many thanks to Dave Michuda for getting me up and running due to the endless inquiries). Still not sure if I have the aptitude for it all, but I really enjoyed it.
I believe that in the last year my work and promotion seemed a bit sterile and to be a one-man operation was not yielding what I had hoped. My initial wish was at one point to do all of this as collaborative affair, but it never worked out that way. I believe that's why I was so happy to host sessions from others; it gave me a chance to build relationships within this world that would not exist otherwise. The most rewarding part was communicating with someone from the other side of the world (and sometimes having language barriers) about something that both of us were equally excited about: the music! Without others, I would have quit this long ago. I'm just as excited creating the last mix as I was the first, no kidding. But now I feel as though I need an extended hiatus to recapture many things that are (were?) important to me (like playing non-stop with my kids, playing my guitar for hours on end, going to bed on time, exercising regularly, finishing my degree (very, very close), writing my own music and recording (and getting better at it), fishing, reading novels, etc., etc., etc........). I believe that it's best that I step away for at least a bit before it all becomes uninspiring. You know, kind of end on a least a bit of a high note.
With this final mix, I wanted to introduce some moods and sounds that have really captured my ears and encouraged me offer the best that I can as a swan song. For this reason, I chose to make my last session just a little bit long, but not too long that you will lose focus. That was always the intent of my mission.
I got a lot of my co-workers listening and hooked on ambient music and digging on my mixes during our hours long drives, and for that I'm very proud of my accomplishment. A few of them are hooked, and I supply them with tasty new sessions that they talk with me about. It's kind of ridiculous; I'm a professional touring musician (my 'work' is very contradictory to my ambient sessions) playing with the highest caliber artists in the world and this minimal world is very comfortable for me. I was told (often) that I had become the 'sleep DJ' guy. Kind of proud of that!
Anyhow, that's it. If there is anyone in cyberspace that enjoyed what I did, I'm very pleased to have given you peace. Time will tell if getting this up and going again is a valid hobby for me. I just may, but I need to re-calibrate my thoughts and priorities.
It goes without saying that I definitely appreciated the support from the many amazing people within the community of listeners. As always, support the artists.

There are so many ideas and theories about what truly happens to your soul when we depart Mother Earth. Is our mortal body a vessel that carries the soul, steered by our intuition and desires? Or are we just empty shells, only to be recycled back to the Earth? I have my thoughts and beliefs, as does anyone. Life is about pondering, discovering, and experiencing. Like anyone else, I strive to radiate good intentions by trying to live a selfless life that is inspirational. In doing so, my wish is that as my soul ascends, it will be accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack; one that represents the elation that I experienced in my life balanced with the melancholy of departure. I would like reflect on my life in a satisfyingly content manner during the ordeal, both good and bad.
The intention of this mix is for it to be used figuratively. If a dark cloud casts a shadow over your world, the music presented here will guide you above and beyond. Do not allow the gravity of turmoil and negativity weigh you down. The set here is intentionally a bit cinematic and deep, and I hope that your soul ascends higher and higher as you take in warm colors and the sonic aura that envelopes your soul.
This session was inspired by the artist WINGS OF AN ANGEL, who has the perfect moniker for this particular session. I wanted to use only his music, but thought it would suffice to use quite a few pieces that I extracted from the amazing release OUR FORGOTTEN INFINITY AND THE ABSOLUTE ZERO. Upon my initial reaction of hearing this release, it brought the idea to me. Very inspiring.
----more----
I am also happy to feature music from THE KOUKOUVAYA who put out WITCHES' JELLY. I pledged to include some of Witches' Jelly in this mix, and will do so again in a future session. I wanted to use all (3 separated) portions of the music within this release, but decided otherwise. Yes, it's really that amazing. I'm so very thankful to have been gifted this release and I can't recommend it enough. It's not often enough that I get presented with such amazingly inspired music, so for that I give my extreme gratitude. Don't forget to support the artists.

Greetings from the ethereal universe and welcome to Spaceman's Transmissions. It's known that I spend a bit of my listening time on Mixcloud, and it's extremely gratifying when I get positive feedback. I often try to return favor, but checking out all sorts of mixes (as much as my ear and brain will allow), and hearing positive comments from those that create magic is the highest form of praise. I save what I can in a my NEW STUFF TO REVIEW folder and pay if a visit first and foremost. Needless to say, it's very overwhelming and ambitious.
I had gotten the opportunity to come across a mix entitled THE JOURNEY OF A PAPER BOAT from listener MICHAEL GAIDA and was completely floored by the sonic offerings. I took it in as an early morning session to get my head right, and it pretty much did the trick (very well). I asked Michael if I could host this on Spaceman's Transmission (so that everyone could take in the vibe) and he was happy to oblige. Michael has built up such a deep, subtle mix that will take you in and give you a soothing mental de-fragmentation. His balance of colorful melodic drone and harmonic soundscapes is perfect. This is easily one mix that will put you 1 1/2 hours into the future with a clear mental tapestry. I find Michael's music choices and sessions to be very, very inspirational. I asked Michael to shed some light on himself, and while humble about it all, he provided some great insight to his mastery of the sublime.
----more---- Michael Gaida was born in 1966 ("....yes, i broke the "wall of 40"...") in Dusseldorf, Germany. His initial love for electronic music cam in the late 90's beginning with Liquid Drum & Bass artists such as LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, Tayla, Blu Mar Ten, PFM, as well as other artists from the Good Looking Records Family. This turned him onto his future fav's Dave Seaman and Nick Warren at Global Underground.
Through online radio stations, he gained exposure to music from D-Phrag with his "Immersed" show and his series "Exfinity", as well as the show "Mindscapes" from Deep Z at Pure.FM. From this point on progressive house became his music.
2009 was the year that gave birth to Michael's first mixes, and from December 2009 he start to host the show "Mindscapes" with his big friend Deep Z on Pure.FM. Michael also hosted the Liquid Drum & Bass Series 'Urban Sound'. After 5 years hosting the show, he put the brakes on his current musical direction as he had developed a deep love for ambient music.
Michael has made some really amazing sessions, and has crossed over into the cinematic world of deep soundscapes very confident and aware. His mixes warrant many more listens, and I'm so very thankful that he has given me 3 of his mixes to host. So, I present to you, 'THE JOURNEY OF A PAPER BOAT', 'BY THE RIVER', and 'OPEN RANGE' for your streaming/downloading pleasure. I had a bit to go through to decide the best. It was not easy, but I narrowed it down to favorites (even titles and art had to play into it as the sessions are all just very alive). Be sure to visit Michael at his MIXCLOUD profile to catch his future creations of sonic mastery.
A super epic 'thank you' to Michael for allowing me to share his vision and sessions the best way that I can. Not only for the amazing mixes, but for his great communication and his spirit. His work is inspiring, peaceful, and his work ethic is nearly unparalleled.

Quite a while back, I learned about a very interesting little machine entitled the AMBIENT ADDITION which was a thesis from an MIT student named Noah Vawter The purpose of the machine was to transform everyday sounds into musical notes. He had made the valid point that with the whole 'i' revolution (iTunes, iPod, iPad, etc.), the 'i' represented isolation. I actually downloaded the whole thesis, and gave it a very good bit of my attention. For some reason, there have been no other sort of things like this, and it seems that this idea turned out to be nothing more than an idea. Granted, there are a few apps that I have on my (old) iPhone, like the INCEPTION app as well as RJDJ (if you have an iPhone, I highly suggest these; I believe that RJDJ is no longer a functioning app but I could be wrong). We can't escape the noise, but maybe we can take in what is there and process the good bits through our minds to keep us grounded.
Another mention that I have to make is of a book called HEPCAT. I've read this to my kids for years. I'm fascinated by this story of how a jazz cat learns to hear each sounds of the city as separate musical entities, until his mind creates the symphony of each noise, not unlike seeing separate colors and forming a picture. I'm not kidding when I tell that I've taken the story of this book to heart. Obviously, we all have. I'm not at all alone in being fascinated and creating and purchasing music that lives and breathes field recordings.
----more---- So that leads to the purpose of this mix. Weaved within the soundscapes are field recordings of the concrete jungle. We must find the balance between the two, and enable our being to coexist with that which we have created. Don't fight against it; rather, immerse yourself in the underlying sonic texture that turns chaos into control. I give you, the listener, equal amounts of city structure balanced by the sweet escape of encompassing sounds. Yin and yang. Pleasure and pain. We begin our journey in the concrete jungle and finish to a place within your mind that you create and find peace. Along the way we let go of the urge to resist the melding of the two worlds.
This mix would do well to help you reemerge into a world that is wrought with turbulent noises. Let the message from this set be that your universe exists in a 5 1/2 inch plane: the space between your ears.

Welcome to another episode of Spaceman's Transmissions. As your host, I'm responsible for providing a very intensely tranquil journey to those places in your mind that wake your imaginative synapses and clear the fog. With this latest guest mix, I'm confident that we will accomplish this.
I have graciously received a session a (very long) while back from a DJ named SPINNET who hails from Greece. While I had many things to deal with this summer, I am finally able to get this mix out to the world, and extremely happy to do so. If you are craving deep space that nonetheless draws you into a universe of minimal soundscapes but still leave your harmonic indulgences satisfied, you've come to the right place. Spinnet is another crafty DJ that is adept at finding perfect balances between 'felt' pulses and tapestries of melodic flow. Listening to his session brings a sense of Steve Roach-ish vibe balanced with subtle Global Communication colors. To top it off, I'm really digging on his editing and shifting of mood color. This mix will serve not only as background music but equally as foreground. Some of the best mixes that I get have me pulling the headphones off as I think that something is going on outside, as if my ears have tricked my mind into diving almost too deep. That's the way I like it.
----more----
Spinnet has been toying with audio software and music synthesis since 2007 as both a solo venture and with like-minded friends. Several projects have taken form by his experimentation with various styles and moods of (mostly) electronic music over the years, and his solo project (SPINNET) is birthed from all that has inspired and moved him. Usually (but not always), this translates to atmospheric and dubby grooves that were influenced by breakbeat culture. FABRICS (a collaborative project), on the other hand, consists of darker, colder, and often experimental material that is influenced by industrial aesthetics and techno culture. ONE ARC DEGREE is almost the opposite; and emotive project that builds on the melodic expressions of chillout and trance origins. Lastly, his most recent collaborative project entitled SPACE SCAVENGERS is based on the theme of sci-fi and seeks to create a futuristic representation with dub elements. You could say that Spinnet's output is nearly staggering, and his love for all things musical is reflected in what he creates. Releases of these projects can be found on music labels such as V.I.M., Deep Garnet, Ultimae, Microcosmos, From A Tree, Audio Theory, Assembly Field, and soon on Iboga, Cold Tear Records, and Blue Tunes Records (and more!).
I offer you Empty As Universe; the perfect vibe for space travelers and souls seeking mind expansion. A very beautiful mix from an amazingly accomplished individual. Thank, Spinnet, for allowing me to present your beautiful session with the world. You can get more updates from Spinnet from his FACEBOOK page, on DISCOGS, as well as on HEARTHIS.AT.

It's not often (enough) that I get gifted with exclusive mixes that come from individual DJ's that seem to catch wind of Spaceman's Transmissions and honor this site by desiring to be a part of the ambient family. CHASING SLEEP (Scott Nyce) is actually one of those rare few, and I'm extremely blown away by the set that he sent in. I actually got my first full listen on a bike ride in July and actually got goosebumps about 6 miles into the ride (didn't realize that this was possible, given that it was close to 100 degrees outside). Now that's an indication of a killer set. While I'm not always about publishing beats (with the exception of a few that bring it in nicely, such as FACTION), Scott balances the beat with the beatless and his ability to glue his elements together create a gravity that is as intense as it is beautiful. He is able to still keep alternating profiles active: as a dance/bass music DJ (Headunit), one of more ambient/minimal/experimental structure (Chasing Sleep), and as Scott Nyce when DJ'ing sets. Such a mix like this can only come from a chameleon-like DJ that strives to be prolific in all things musical and whose accomplishments are monumental. That said, it is indeed Scott who manages to bring his depth of experience into presenting this unreal set of sounds to your ears. Here's what Scott had to say (I chose to do very little editing as his story is a fascinating read!):
----more----
'As a DJ, I have been spinning Drum and Bass since 1997 and have been throwing parties since 1998. I have been actively supporting all sorts of musical events since around 1995. I've been experimenting in music production and engineering since around the early part of 2000. When I'm producing, I usually use different monikers. Headunit (which at one point was dance/bass music related), Chasing Sleep (for the ambient/minimal/experimental side of things), and Jump Static (strictly Drum And Bass material). When I'm out doing DJ sets, it's just Scott Nyce. I suppose I've been heavily involved in all things "underground and obscure" since I was a young boy, especially when it came to music. Between the ages of 12 and 14, I was promoting for metal/death metal shows both local, and across the tri-state area. I think I discovered electronic music shortly before turning 15, and for the next 2 years I quietly jumped from party to party, "trainspotting" DJ's and observing rave culture, becoming more and more saturated in electronic music as each day passed. At the age of 16, I discovered the early sounds of breakbeat hardcore; the earliest form of Drum And Bass/Jungle. Even by then it had already evolved. At the age of 17, I decided to buy a pair of turntables to learn how to spin. It wasn't long after that I decided to start throwing my own local parties. I guess it wasn't more than a year and a half later that I started getting booked to spin drum and bass at shows all over the tri-state area and even Canada, opening and performing next to artists such as Ray Keith, Dj SS, Dieselboy, Storm(UK), among quite a few others I would've have never expected. In the early part of 2000, I bought a bit of studio gear and started to "dabble" everything from various genres dance music, to ambient and score work. As a DJ, it's been nice to have the privilege to meet so many different people and play events both big and small. Over the years I've done everything from house parties and rental halls, to beaches, parking garages and major music and arts festivals. Nowadays I think music is a lot more personal for me....but we'll see I guess. I mean outside of being a Dad, I really don't do anything else with my spare time for the most part.
The music I produce under the Chasing Sleep moniker started as a way for me to express certain personal struggles through music but without using conventional formulas or boundaries. Most of my ideas as Chasing Sleep come to me in the deep middle of the night, often while fading in and out of Hypnagogia. As difficult as it so often is for me to get a full night's sleep, I have come learn that ambient music can provide some of the best medicine for insomnia. I started listening to ambient/minimal/drone music at bedtime about 12 years ago, and I haven't went a single night without it since regardless of whether I sleep or not.. Even if I'm away from home, I find a way to make sure it's on. My young son has even become so accustomed to it in my home at bedtime that even he asks for certain pieces of music.'
For Chasing Sleep, his mix is the final finished product of an ongoing personal experiment in more obscure and experimental music. The music contained within this mix, as well as the mix itself, are a personal reflection of what it often feels like when fading between one dream and the next as he so often struggles with sleep. Check out more musical creations from Scott Nyce's many profiles on his SOUNDCLOUD page, or stream from his MIXCRATE page and MIXCLOUD page. Feel free to kick back, fade out and enjoy. I have waited so very long to do a tribute to the one entity that I admire more than anything in the world: the ocean. I was born in a beach town, and have never stopped being in awe at the power, beauty, and intensity of the ocean. It can be soothing and tranquil entity just as easily as it can be a cold, dark killer. For this reason, the seas have a rightful warrant to our respect. With this mix, I was fortunate in a few ways to have found some truly great music and have so many textures that I believe encompass the scope of the ocean. The music here reflects everything that the ocean represents to me from still, deep colors to its turbulent and dark contrasts. First and foremost, though, I need to give a huge thanks to ADRIEN SIFRE ('Fotografik33' on Flickr) for graciously allowing me to use his photo 'Wharf Variation 6' for this episode. The photo was very inspirational in helping me to create the perfect vibe to accompany it. You can find more of his amazing photos HERE (http://www.fotografik33.com/). Thanks, Adrien! ----more---- Whoever (and wherever) you are out there, I hope that your journey with Spaceman's Transmissions is something that really put great things into perspective for you. I will continue to seek and create inspirational and uplifting vibes that speak to you. Now that we are fully into summer, I have regained my full momentum of enjoying the ride on Mother Earth's forgiving surface. I've made sure that the necessary pieces of my life's puzzle have been put together with precision (Tuned up the bike for amazing rides? Check. Bought new Frisbees? Check. Got supplies to fly kites with the kids and made sure the bubble machines had fresh batteries? Check and check.). Completing vitals tasks such as this allow me to get my head right with some great musical interludes.
I created the 3 prior mixes in the span of a few days in very early January, as I knew that the winter for me would be terrible. And it was. It was full of homework, and non-stop travel to the snowiest places in the US at the time (I was HERE during this time), and traveling through the mid-West during equally terrible weather for the entire month of March (spending my birthday on tour, bleh.). During that time, I didn't take in too much new music, but did release WE'VE COME UNDONE. This allowed me to take that money earned and buy new music off of Bandcamp which really got my mind in motion for new sounds. So I'm presenting a lot of new music bought there in this mix, and I hope that you like it. But enough about that.
While a simple mix from myself would seem sufficient, having the partnership with the humbling DJ SEROTON is one thing that pushes this mix far over the edge. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to create 2 mixes with him (the other is DRIFTER VOL. 6). For this particular mix, I stirred up the first half of the set, and he countered my vision with an unparalleled mix of intensity, beauty, and authority. It's really nice to have someone enhance my intentions and gives a fresh vibe to the set. The unpredictability of the outcome is what provides inspiration smiles. Not only is DJ Seroton such a very cool guy and like-minded music aficionado, but his production standards of both his art and presentation are of the highest standards. I really felt that I should do my best so as to really raise the standard of what we both could offer our peace seeking listeners. I'm very confident that together we have woven the perfect texture of sound and color; using light as glue and sealing it all in a consumable format for your mind and ears.
My hope is that the music brings you a sense of solitude and elation. Feel free to use the music any time you need those sensations. Peace.

I'm really pleased and honored to be able to present a collaborative mix (the first of two that we have planned) between DJ SEROTON and myself that will grace his DRIFTER SERIES sessions. These series of mixes are probably the best that I've come across in quite a while so I'm really stoked to be a part of this. I'm inspired by him not only musically, but also by his professionalism and presentation. You could definitely say that this is his testament to the music that he loves as well as his artistic approach to creating sessions.

Music speaks across boundaries of time, distance, and language, and what we present here is proof of that. We had some really great communication in getting this together (thankfully in English, I appreciate that, man!) and our mindsets were in line with each other in that we wanted to construct a seamless journey for your mind to bathe itself within. In creating this mix, we became completely taken in by each others concepts, and that friendly competition only stoked a passion to deliver our finest moments to your ears. We truly believe that we accomplished this.
This first of two parts that we created is appropriately titled Drifter V6 as it continues to build upon the epic sessions that DJ Seroton has founded. In the track listing below, I made it evident how the mix was divided up with DJ Seroton covering the first half and me countering his vision.
I can't thank DJ Serton enough for having the same passion that I do for creating ambient sessions, and for being such an approachable guy in the entire process so that our vision could be felt by the listeners. Show him the love by checking out more stunning mixes on his WEBSITE, his SOUNDCLOUD page, and make sure to follow him on TWITTER and FACEBOOK. Take it all in. Peace.

The family of ambient mixers all come from a common thread, and a core belief of us all is that music has the capacity to be a moving and uplifting force. We create moments within a wide range of color and sound through what others have done. Our goal is to give your thoughts a place to go, letting the negative vibe that forms the dark cloud around you to be lifted and released, even if only for a moment.
----more----
In discovering DJ Seroton (short for serotonin, a very fitting moniker), I found those moments within his mixes. What initially captured my ear were his monumental ambient structures (aptly named as the Drifter sets). But to rest his laurels on just one type of music to mix, he also hosts additionally phenomenal sets within separate series called Unwind (chillout music) and Trance Nhancements (vocal and uplifting trance. I caught wind of his mixes and was guided to his website, which is so very well done, informative, and impressive to say the least. Needless to say, we've developed a few collaborations. I'm really stoked by what he's stirred up in the pot for me to finish and will be posting our mixes in the near future. In the meantime, I'm very happy to be hosting my favorite mix from his Drifter Series.
You can find out more by catching DJ Seroton at his WEBSITE (http://www.djseroton.com/), his SOUNDCLOUD (https://soundcloud.com/dj-seroton) page, and gathering some mandatory streaming listens through his main MIXCLOUD page. I've been pretty busy lately, and taking in lots of good weather, good bike rides (which gives me ample time to catch up on a backlog of listening), and ushering in the spring/summer vibe that is unfolding. I have bought and heard a lot of really good music from Bandcamp lately, and it has ultimately inspired me to create a second volume to honor this gold mine of independent artists. I have been so very elated to get new music and let it creep into my mind that I felt that it had to be shared with all of the qualified travelers of the sonic realm. I purposely sought to assemble this journey with absolute respect to what the artist has offered, and I hope that my intentions are sincere in this respect.

I am confident that this mix will be a perfect companion for nights of stargazing or waking moments of daydreaming. It has been meticulously crafted with the finest sonic glue possible, each moment carefully prepared to be delivered in the most thought provoking manner. I do have a few alibis in this mix. First, I was approached by session ace MATT STANFIELD and given music (which is not on Bandcamp) and there was no way that I couldn't use two excerpts from his release HOMECOMING . The other is that I was directed to an artist named AN IMAGINAL SPACE whose song SILENT VOICES made such a huge impact upon me that I couldn't not use it. Thanks to SLOW DEEP BREATH for posting the video on Google+ for me to witness.
To access the links of the artists' releases where the music can be purchased, please visit ambient-transmission.blogspot.com. I urge you to pay the artists a visit to take in the beautiful art that they've created. Many huge thanks to the artists for creating the magic. Show them the love.
By all means, if you are reading this and you are an artist that would like your music to try and reach anyone, I would be honored for submissions that could grace future podcasts. You can reach me at the email address listed towards the bottom of the WHO, WHAT, WHY page on Spaceman's Transmissions. I love making the musical connections and hearing from everyone that occupies the sonic universe that we share. Enjoy your journey. Peace.

I ran across a very interesting comment via Reddit a while ago that stated 'instead of looking up into the sky, you're actually gazing down into the infinite cosmic abyss, with only gravity holding you to the surface of the earth.' Heavy. But true, and a bit scary. We ride the Mother Earth spaceship venturing through the absolute unknown. And there's nothing we can do about it other than enjoy the ride.
To accompany your journey, I've managed to glue together some sounds that were brought to initial life by some of the greatest aural travelers in the field of sonic space. My role is to manipulate and conjure up the family of musical representations that assist you while peering out beyond the cosmic rim into the infinite cosmic abyss. Now that warmer weather is coming, it is a good time to get back into marveling at sunsets that give way to nightly stargazing. Use this mix freely as your soundtrack for this. I used only my 'A' list of space traveling composers to give you the best mix (in my opinion) that I've ever created. Give thanks that Mother Earth is gluing you to herself so that you can get a good glimpse of the heavens all while hitching a ride on her back. Make good use of this soundtrack while gazing into the infinite cosmic abyss to assist with your journey through the solar system. BTW, I'm posting this on my birthday as I want to give something that means a lot to me. Better to give than to receive, in my opinion. Peace.

I purposely created this mix to accompany those mornings that make one feel the need to stay in bed for an extra bit of time. This mix could also come of use during the day, or evening, if you wish as its main purpose is to erase detrimental mojo. Outside rain is optional as I've included a tiny pinch of rain in the mix to help balance the sounds of nature driven ambience with artist created tapestries of beauty (although rain from the outside will further assist in achieving the peaceful state that you seek). Admittedly, ever since I heard Junkyard Angel's WAITING FOR THE RAIN, I've been eager to follow suit. A tip of the hat.
Just as the morning bleeds into the day and night without an abrupt transitions, the music should meld into your mind without consideration to the shifting moods. The thing is to take in the mix, and let it soak into your mind so that it may bring you solace.
I had very great pleasure in choosing songs for this mix. One release that I was able to purchase (actually, it was gifted by none other than) Christopher Sisk's BACKGROUND MUSICS. I was extremely lucky to be browsing on the net when a Google+ message from CHRISTOPHER came up offering a sweet (day-before) Christmas gift of one of his releases for free. The only catch (which was no catch at all) was to let him know on his posting which release you wanted and receive a download code via PM. I was pining for Background Musics. Thanks, Santa!
I hope that this music helps your mind catch up to its necessary state needed to realize that one rainy day brings many days with sunshine and beauty.
Peace.

A while back, I was attending a sensational mix by GRANI RADIOSHOW entitled GRANI RADIOSHOW #42 (AUTUMN SEA), taking it in, and floating among the blissful sounds created by these DJ's. Needless to say, it's safe to say that this particular mix was one that pulled me into the world of Grani Radioshow. Not only are the music selections amazing, but the crafting is breathtaking. This mix has a life of its own, exhaling warmth and a deep intensity that seeps into the mind of listeners that crave color and clarity. It took a bit to get in contact with them, but once I did, I was richly rewarded with downloads of every mix available from them through a hosting site (that's 60 mixes so far). I was pretty overwhelmed (and still am) to find the best of the best within these mixes, so I'm hosting 3 mixes from them that resonate with me.
----more----
Grani Radioshow (grani translates to 'edge' or 'side') consists of 2 individuals (Alexy Moned & Denis Disia) that create these mixes while geographically separated in Belsarus & Russia. While they have worked on a few mixes together, their preferred method is that each submit a mix for hosting individually. The best part of actually hosting this mix is the response that I got from Denis when requesting a bio.
"I'm not sure that our biography is important. The important thing is the music."
It could not be any more simple and effective as that. Along with Grani Radioshow #42 (Autumn Sea), Grani Radioshow is throwing in GRANI RADIOSHOW #60 (STILL AND ALL) GRANI RADIOSHOW #28 (AUTUMN FROSTS 2), and GRANI RADIOSHOW #35 (GOODBYE WINTER) (these can be downloaded from http://ambient-transmission.blogspot.com). Enjoy the colorful vibes that are meticulously crafted by Grani Radioshow. I can not thank them enough for getting in contact with me, and allowing me to host their mixes. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of Grani Radioshow. BTW, you can hear all of their mixes on the their MIXCLOUD page, follow them on TWITTER, and tune into PSYRADIO to catch more. You can also hear and download Denis' original compositions at his BANDCAMP page or his SOUNDCLOUD page. Not only that, Denis has his own separate MIXCLOUD page that warrants a good look, and Alexey's Mixcloud page can be found HERE.

For this episode of Spaceman's Transmissions, I'm very fortunate to have given permission by a deservedly accomplished DJ goes by the name DJ SNOBO in presenting THIS WAS OUR LAST CHANCE (BEFORE WE SLEPT). Gosh hails from Riga, Latvia, and has a very extensive bit of involvement in the DJ scene, as well as in music overall. I asked Gosh quite a while back to host his mix. We had lost communication, but persistence allowed us to reconnect. While I try to do the most justice in doing write-ups for people, DJ Snobo says it best. Therefore, I pulled a bit of the bio off of his website.
"Hey, my name is Gosh, I'm also known as DJ Snobo and I'm a tumbler (born under punches)... Er, just kidding. Still, I've been juggling sounds, words, styles, genres, tempos, moods since 1990, using guitars, microphones, computers, digital & analog recordings and most importantly - imagination.
Which means that as from 1999 I have been DJing, making mixtapes, hosting radio shows, writing about music and otherwise popularize good vibrations of all kinds. A decade before (1989-99) I used to play guitar, sing and write songs in various bands, lead by myself or by my friends, and later on went solo to produce some electronic music. All of that happened in my home town of Riga, Latvia.
Being a passionate music lover all my life, I always had wide range of interests and never locked myself within artificial boundaries such as genres or musical forms. So - both as music maker or selector - I always played whatever interested me at that time, and it could have been almost everything. I usually say that my own projects from the 90s professed the concept of musical circus - quirky, fun-filled, eclectic extravaganza. As a DJ, I went deeper and less whimsical, but no less (and even more) cross-genre."
Gosh's abilities to weave sounds and create such seamless journeys is a mindblower to me. He's very adept at creating sufficient space with various elements to give good perception of depth, and gluing together sonic colors that yield an experience that is uniquely dark, intense, comforting, and enlightening. Yet another guy who I find to be incredibly inspiring, not only in introducing new music but presenting it in format that draws in the listener with absolute magnitude and beauty. I'm presenting an additional download of another mix entitled COLOURS OF WATER as a bonus for hungry minds that crave colorful journeys into the subconscious realm of imagination (this additional mix can be found at http://ambient-transmission.blogspot.com). Pay DJ Snobo a visit at his WEBSITE, his MIXCLOUD profile, his SOUNDCLOUD page (his primary page for hosting mixes), and the Facebook page THE CUP OF SILENCE that he runs. You can also find more links that represent DJ Snobo's musical forays HERE.
Thank you so much, Gosh, for letting me be little part in sharing the beautiful creations that you've birthed. I look forward to more in the future.

Hello, fellow space travelers. I'm back with a new ambient mix of some great things that I've been getting into my head lately. First off, I want to express the fact that I took the title for this mix from the song of the same title by Maiya Heresy from FUTURESEQUENCE8 (which is included in this mix. Great title, amazing composition. When the music begins to drift into your mental space, allow it to form the cloudy blanket that will encompass your good thoughts and filter out the negative turmoil. This incubating layer will form the egg that will eventually hatch your renewal into peace. The aural comfort that you seek will be placed gently upon your physical vessel (known as the human being). Allow your mind to immerse itself into the dream world that awaits. The sanctuary there will breathe new life into your soul and spur a regeneration of creative thoughts, ideas, and tranquility. This is when you truly become the human dreaming. Upon completion of this sequence, this mission will be considered a success.

If you've been following Spaceman's Transmissions for a bit and have kept your eyes on the guest mixes, you've noticed that I've hosted mixes by FACTION (Ben Selby) on a few occasions. The best part about hosting mixes is corresponding and building a rapport with people (my absolute favorite part of it all). Ben is a super-cool and ultra-knowledgeable music aficionado. He's easily one of my favorite Mixcloud artists that is capable of straddling the perfect balance between surreal and unreal. He's just as comfortable with spacey drones as he is with drum 'n bass. Huge imagination, ears like a bat, and a music collection that must be beyond staggering.
Well, Ben got with me not too long ago to return the favor of hosting his mixes, and I was invited to create a mix for BOXFREQUENCY.FM radio. The broadcast was overseen by FATPATCORD (aka Matthew Foord), who is also quite active in the scene as well and close associates with Faction (thanks, Matthew!). While it was introduced to be somewhat along the same lines of what I currently mix (with slight variations), I decided to create a mix that was very left field for me, even though the only main restriction that I had was that the mix had to be 90 minutes. I decided to give it a name, and as I initially set out to do a spy music set, the name Swung, Shaken, And Stirred seemed appropriate. So, yeah, there you have it. There is absolutely no ambient in this mix (you are forewarned!). Nonetheless, this was a blast to create, and I essentially used a lot of music that I've been into for the last 10 years (I have a ton of electronica/trip hop/nu-jazz). No worries, Spaceman's Transmissions will continue to be what it was prior to this. If anything, consider this a radical departure to clear the way for new amazing things in the future. Enjoy!

It goes without saying that when Paul Simmonds creates a session, it's an aural journey that is ever so carefully and meticulously designed to enhance the senses. This is my 5th guest mix for JUNKYARD ANGEL and they just keep getting better and better. This one came as an early Christmas present, and I welcome that. I could easily go on and on about the incredible music that Paul stirs into the pot, or how he adds a touch of madness to glue the sonic ingredients, or what-have-you. Suffice it to say that you will find peace and mental renewal within this set.
I Can Hardly Breathe Right Now is a peaceful (as well as somber and reflective) trip that evolves in colorful ways from dark to light. There is no one better that JA to balance those variables with extremely careful precision. Like all of his mixes, I was drawn into its depth and reassembled as a slightly more aware human. I'm very grateful that I get to take in new music via his channelling of artistic introduction. I hope that the same sensations and sense of elation are gathered by you after taking in this colorful creation. Follow Junkyard Angel on MIXCLOUD and allow him to light your way to new and amazing mixes.

If there's one person that I follow and read up through on Bandcamp, it's none other than THE PLIABILITY EFFECT aka Brian Bourassa. I get emails every now and then letting me know who's bought music, and Brian's name is always there. He's my go-to guy as far as getting the pulse on new ambient and I've made a few purchases based on what I read from Brian. Before I even hear the music, Brian's reviews have already painted a beautiful picture of what's in store by way of his amazingly generous and colorful reviews. In fact, when I did the mix Camping Under The Stars, I gave a shout out to Brian in hopes that he would help me in putting together a mix. I finally get my wish!
For some strange reason, Brian got around to contacting me and setting me up with a release that was on my wishlist on Bandcamp (thanks for that, man!). We chatted it up a bit, and I expressed the offer to host a mix for him (he had never done one). I mean, who better would be suited to drive home the point of 'Turn on, tune in, sleep...' more than a gentleman who lives and breathes drone-based ambient music (and proves this weekly to the many people that follow him on Bandcamp). I won't lie, the first initial test mix he sent put me completely under! Brian knows how to weave, and with this mix, he's shown himself to be the Pied Piper that leads you to that place. It's funny, but he just took me back to my roots of ambient, and am I ever thankful. He's picking soundscapes from the tree of ambient, breathing life into his creation, and delicately serving the most gentle sounds to get your head right. This mix will live bedside for a very, very long time. I asked Brian to set the record straight on his story, and being the minimalist aficionado that he is, he provided a very appropriately satisfying response without wasted thoughts or words. Truly magic. "A DJ I wasn't, and am now not either. But ever since the seventies when the cassette tape recorder became affordable to the masses, and the Maxell UD-XL II recording tapes stormed the market, a new mode of music listening was born. My friends and I were constantly recording albums and exchanging them, and cassette tape mixes were a great way to create our very own 'Best Of' recordings. From there, the multi-group tapes followed on into the mixes of narration and music. I'd create mock radio station mixes to send to a friend overseas. One side of the tape was a synopsis of what was going on in my life here in the States, the second side was the music. Balancing the mood and flow of the music throughout the tape was important so as to keep the listener alert and attentive." Could The Pliability Effect be the first podcast? Quite possibly. I'll vote a confident 'yes' on that one. I'm truly happy to have gotten Brian to create and share his first mix in the digital world. I'm really looking forward to having Brian do a few more mixes in the future, as well as do a few very small write-ups on his monthly favorite purchases. Thank you so very much, Mr. Bourassa, for allowing me to be a part of hosting such a beautifully peaceful and uplifting amalgamation of sound. To all of the listeners, enjoy the amazing mix of 're-Generate' courtesy of The Pliability Effect. Visit Spaceman's Transmissions (ambient-transmission.blogspot.com) to view the track listing (the artists' names are alive with links to their releases). Peace.

I've been on tour for a bit, but I'm happy to be able to bring a new mix to the masses. I've managed to piece together an amalgamation of songs that will unlock the creative door to your mind's inner workings. This will give you greater control over the creative juices that color your life and define you as a human being. While we may not realize it, our mind is the key to the universe. When the gravity of situations bear down upon your mind and soul, that only you can unlock. Within that mental space that only you occupy, keep the things in life that bring you peace and solace within a world that is riddled with turmoil, confusion, and anguish. Your mental universe is much bigger than the world that we know. When the weight of burden and obligation threaten to crush your creativity, energy, and willingness, realize that you are stronger and better than the situations that surround you.
As Buddha stated, "your mind is everything; what you think you become; we are shaped by our thoughts and we become what we think; when the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." Keep these words in mind as you soak up this mix. My wish is that this music gets your head in a creative space that allows you the ample time that it needs to divert the negativity within your life. Seek a higher place, a higher love, and put faith in things greater than yourself to achieve your dreams. Peace.

I've been dragging my feet on this way too long as I've been wrapping things up on my latest release, I've been on tour, and I'm taking a class on technical business writing that is keeping my mind humming. Now I'm ready to bring you one of the most amazing pieces of ambient- and mood-enhanced sonic pleasures brought to you by none other than THE SILENT PROJECT.
MÉANDRES by The Silent Project is the new standard by which all mixes will (and should be) measured up to. It becomes increasingly difficult for many (myself included) to not be humbled by such a perfect piece that is laid out so logically, with each color lining up to set up the next. It's almost depressing to hear something so above and beyond that will inevitably send me back to the drawing board wondering how I could even hold a match to one of the greatest things ever. the opening is dark, and the gravitational pull of it takes in your full mental awareness, twisting your mind around and around while dropping bits of shadow and light onto it without stopping its momentum. I've very elated that Greg (aka The Silent Project) found some of the finest music and engaged his creative mind to mix a set that is one of the heaviest I've come across. Guys like SILAS, FACTION, and The Silent Project are listening not only to music all day long, but sounds as well. I can imagine that these guys are taking everything in all the time, probably writing ideas on napkins, and investing mental energy into finding the right elements to take us on hour-long journeys to our mind's ether. Listening to their stories unwind is not unlike listening to a good Pink Floyd (it's all good) album. In short: I'm humbled by this and it makes me feel proud! Please take the time to listen and enjoy this beautiful outing by one of my favorite mixers on Mixcloud. Show the Silent Project the love on his MIXCLOUD page, his SOUNDCLOUD page, and by all means, his BANDCAMP page. Also, follow him on FACEBOOK for more tranquil and meaningful mixes. Peace.

I've been tuning into a lot of new music lately, and catching some speeches by Neil deGrasse Tyson (whose voice appears in the intro of this mix) who is somewhat of an astronomy genius. Very deep mind. I wanted to put a bit of the new music into this mix (as well as some familiar faces that have graced Spaceman's Transmissions in the past like Ben Woods [my favorite], Hammock, and, well, a few original compositions). I want to point you to Ben Woods' BANDCAMP page (benwoods.bandcamp.com) as I lean on him heavily to create the mixes that I do. Also, you can download the original composition that I did with Petal from the Rusted Sun Collective BANDCAMP page (rustedsun.bandcamp.com/album/rusted-sun-collective-communicate-EP). Additionally, you can find my latest release on BANDCAMP (tonepoet.bandcamp.com/album/headspace) that I just released TODAY!
Much like the mix 'In The Midst Of A Dim Glow', this mix is for those quiet moments before or after your nightly slumber with the dual purpose of either setting you down gently or lifting you up ever so slowly. It is safe with most medications, and you may operate heavy machinery at your will (although I would advise against it). As you begin to let your mind go, have faith in the music guide to the right mental place. Erase the negative energy that burdens your grey matter, as no one's problems can be solved in one hour. Instead, use this hour to find a better place for your soul, as it is a tiny amount of your time that allows your soul to calibrate. Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I'm proud to be bringing the music of MANTRAMAN to the masses for this outing on Spaceman's Transmissions. I've been digging on Mantraman's mixes for a bit now, and I finally get a chance to show the love. I've been blessed with having the opportunity to host 3 mixes (the 2 additional mixes are available at SPACEMAN'S TRANSMISSIONS: http://ambient-transmission.blogspot.com).
Within his mixes you will find a colorful mindtrip of perfectly balanced moods, reflecting his quest for peace and solitude. Even his profile picture exudes tranquility and is the epitome of chill. When I'm in need of a deep mental massage or that escape pod that houses my turbulent mind for intergalactic travel, I look no further than Mantraman's mixes. His quest for the perfect mix to calibrate the soul is not without merit. Mantraman (Paul Haynes) has a very musical background, having been the bass player in the early 80's indie-pop band INTIMACY that was based around Birmingham, England. Discovering ambient music would lead to the decline of performing live and the birth of his interest in creating, mixing, and producing the ambient music that permeated his soul. Paul's love for ambient music began when he first heard the Brian Eno & Harold Budd masterpiece PLATEAUX OF MIRROR in 1981, and the implosion of Intimacy in 1983 allowed him to finally begin following his muse. The motivation to spark his creative genesis was purely recreational and was meant as a way to make music that he wanted to listen to. Through the persuasion of a friend, he posted some of his music on LAST.FM, and this gave him the impetus to carry on. Although he claims that his music making tools are primitive (using basic MIDI software and Audacity), he nonetheless captures the essence of true ambien spirit. His first creations didn't even involve a keyboard, but rather using QWERTY and Cakewalk. One could say that his technological grasp for weaving sounds has evolved quite nicely. If there's one thing that Mantraman can admit about the whole ambient scene, it's that it's highly addictive and very time consuming. I can echo that. Unfortunately, that has left a lot less time for him to create new tapestries due to business commitments. I, and I'm sure I'm not alone, wish that Mantraman had more time to create and bless us with such beautiful sounds. Hopefully in the future (nudge, nudge). For all of the eager listeners that crave peace, I've been given a 'go' on hosting 3 mixes by Mantraman. For some reason, I tend to gravitate to the mixes that have to do with the oceans or tidal ebb and flo. So I chosen to host THE LIGHTHOUSE TAPES (my favorite). I would be foolish to say that this is his best; they all are. The next one will be his best, and the one after that, and so on. Mantraman has created a gold mine of ambient mixes that I know the music lover will lose themselves in. You can follow Mantraman on his MIXCLOUD page, follow him on TWITTER, and get updates on his creations on his LAST.FM and SOUNDCLOUD pages. Many, many thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his vision with everyone. To be able to access the active links which are not within the iTunes description as well as 2 additional download mixes (EVENTIDES and OTHER OCEANS), please visit Spaceman's Transmissions at http://ambient-transmission.blogspot.com. I got contacted recently by FACTION (Ben Selby) about a new mix that he's created. Out of all of the artists that I follow, Ben is probably one of the guys that blow my mind in the biggest way. his sonic tapestries are a huge journey in the subconscious, stopping at the various synapses which bring light and sound into focus. Given the vast amount of influences and music, Faction flawlessly (and consistently) pieces together the most seamless mixes ever. I can never seem to find edits in his mixes. His canvases are a perfect blend of light and dark colors that are pleasing, challenging, and ever shapeshifting. Not only are they musically gratifying, but the work ethic that he displays is unrivaled and unparalleled.
For this guest mix, I am absolutely honored to be a part of hosting [ Time Is What Keeps The Light From Reaching Us ]. Make sure that you are well prepared with open ears and open mind. This will allow the music to ebb and flow into your mind's ether, penetrating the pores that drink color and taste sound. If you choose to only listen, you will miss the finer points of the mix. The best option is to experience the mix while fully disengaging distractions and fully engaging undivided attention. Upon taking in the mix, your sense of gravity will calibrate, your senses will be renewed with extreme precision, and your mental state will have increased to absolute efficiency. Or your money back. If there were just one thing that I could wish for, it would be to hang out with Faction, listening to new music, and watching him put together his mixes like a fly on the wall. I aspire to be him, with his limitless vision and knack of putting together such moods with so many diverse elements. Hearing what he comes up with makes me feel like I'm at square one. And that's a good thing. Thanks, Benji, for hooking up the listeners everywhere with pure aural bliss. And for providing a healthy bit of competition. Be sure to take in more of Faction's amazing mixes on his Mixcloud page (mixcloud.com/faction), and his original compositions on his Soundcloud page (soundcloud.com/fumble). I'm always eagerly awaiting the next one! Peace. turn on, tune in, have mind blown, listen again (and again), then sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
Deja Vu (sorry for the lack of correct characters over the letters) can be described as a sensation of realizing a remembrance of a certain event or place, whether you've actually experienced it or not. We see things, and we remember. We hear things, we remember. Our entire lives are based upon memories, and how they stitch us up shapes who we are. We are formed like clay from the sights and sounds that were with us longer than we can remember.
I spent a bit of time this summer at my childhood hometown, and seeing so many familiar things brought back floods of intense feelings. But for the life of me, I couldn't quite put my finger on why. Everything was very much a part of my life, but at the same time very distant from me. I tried to recapture and revive the initial moments of certain landmarks that had meant so much to me many years ago. But in the end, I gave in, retiring the fuzzy thoughts to my gray matter as balloons that I had let go so many years ago. Like most, I could spend all of my time and energy seeking the puzzle pieces that have long turned into a wind-torn memory. But to keep life moving in a forward motion, one must seek to have meaningful moments in life that trump those which created a purpose that allowed us to become stagnant. Onward and upward. Trying to recreate and relive moments that we cherish weaken the initial moment. This self-manufactured regret will have us searching for answers that lack questions. This mix is for the thinkers that believe they've lost the path and are trying to step backwards into the same footprints. For those that need a light to see the path in front of them. And for the ones that need a soundtrack to their lives which allows them to breathe deep, keeping forward momentum onto the illuminated walkway that guides their souls. Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
Tonepoet: I can say that for me, it's a dream come true to have finally been involved in a collaboration with a mix-artist that is without a doubt one of my favorites. I've been digging on JUNKYARD ANGEL's mixes since he first started uploading mixes on Mixcloud. I've hosted his mixes here quite a bit (more than anyone else), and have had such candid and (dear I say?) brotherly contact with him despite our differences in time, culture, and location. All of his music lives on my media player, and accompanies me on my bike rides, in my car, or anywhere else that I use it (which is everywhere) for getting my fix of great new music. I save his comments, and mark his emails as 'unread' so that I can take in his wit and gather the positive vibe that he exudes again and again.
We've talked long about our musical interests, and lives in general. We've actually bounced a few original ideas (that we'll get to at some point) back and forth. This, hopefully, serves as a springboard for that. I have to say, that after listening to so many of his mixes repeatedly, I would definitely have to bring my 'A' game with a mix. His vision for melding the bizarre, accentuating the awe-inspiring, and conjuring the twist of fear is something that marvels me. I brought the suggestion of a sort of final swan song or opus, as I've had mostly lighthearted mixes, and I knew that he would be able to pull out his magic wand and develop such a great story. Hence the name 'fading light'. It could mean the close of a day, a final breath, a dying thought, or a moment that has expired. While I could ramble on with all of this, I'm passing the torch over to Junkyard Angel for the remainder of the narrative. One last thing: if feels good to ride on the backs of angels.
Junkyard Angel: I really look forward to receiving emails from Tonepoet, we have similar lives busy with families and young children not to mention mounting work schedules; we have no time to be mixing and making music so what drives us to do just that?
For me, it's love and the maintenance of sanity; most people's musical thirst is quenched by the age of 25, but for myself (someone who is well over that figure), every day is a quest for music both old and new. If I don't find it, it will find me.
When I was asked if I wanted to collaborate to Fading Light, I had already got the songs swirling around in my head before I had finished reading the remit.
Tom has put down a heavenly drone with a heartbeat that runs and weaves concurrently throughout the mix. I spent a while just mesmerized by this tidal sound surge. After listening to Tom's mix, I started to add to the second half.
I really relished the idea of the collaborative musical mesh and one done digitally by 2 museos on opposite sides of the pond; it took me back to my pirate radio days when I used to play vinyl with other DJ's back to back. It kind of forces you to conjure another angle and pick a different tune to the one that you would have played on your own agenda. The worlds change but the passions remain intact.
Enjoy... turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
Most of the time that I do my really deep music listening, it's when I'm lost within my own thoughts. I don't have to converse with others, do any sort of active reasoning on anything, or have judgments or ponder solutions. My mind is a sponge, open and dynamic, my mood and feelings shaped by oncoming colors that slowly build castles in my mind. I created this mix for the sleepers, for those needing time to put on headphones and breathe deeply, the ones who want to hear the thoughts within their own grey matter without obstruction, the souls that want to have a soundtrack for a moment in their lives, the ones who need a backdrop for contemplative pondering.........in the end, it's for the listener that craves a bit of solace in a chaotic world, and to aid your soul searching, surrounded by the colors of peace and solitude. I spend a lot of my day being very social, collaborating with musicians, and the working on projects. When I unwind, I lose myself into the hypnotic universe of sound, emptying my cerebral flow of analytical thoughts. I end up losing way more sleep than I should, just to make time for hearing new music, and trying to learn something new. My wish is that you are able to fill the void within your soul that yearns for an aural blanket to caress your thoughts and create the mental escape pod that takes you above and beyond daily turmoil. Support the artists, and enjoy. Peace.
turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
It seems as though the best mixes that I come across happen when I should be in bed, and have a lot of stressful stuff on my mind. Those mixes seem to break through the ice of turmoil, keep me awake in anticipation, and cause me to drift into the scene that they've created. There are checkpoints within the flow that develop themes and alter moods on a whim. With my mind engaged, I am able to reassess the balance of negative and positive vibe, and more often than not, I realize that music is just a great big part of my life that permeates my soul like a sponge picking up water. I am the sponge. I want you to be the sponge. Or something like that.
I cannot express the feeling that I get from listening to SILAS' newest mix entitled SCORE ONE. Every song has got me digging through the track listing, searching the artists, and eager to flesh out my music collection with new sonic morsels. There are points within the mix that seem to almost dissolve, surrounding delicate sounds with dissipating clouds of tones. While it would seem like the mix could end (and it would be perfect as it was), Silas picks it up, fills it out, and brings the whole thing back to life as if he were blowing up a balloon. And the world begins anew for another ride. If Silas had just made only BREATHWORK and Score One, I would easily have said that he was above and beyond one of the best at doing what he and his peers do, but with a larger wealth of music than most, and a much better sense of how to connect the dots than the rest of us. Ah, jealousy sets in! Hahaha!
So, without running on too much about it, I am so very proud to be presenting my pick for one of the best mixes that I've run across (I've listened to many, even incognito), or at least in the top 5 (with Breathwork also being in the top 5). Not everyone might agree with that statement, but I believe that warranting a listen to Score One will put a smile on your face, with the realization that you've come across a soundtrack that is waiting for unbelievable things to happen around it. Be inspired by this, and if you're like me, let this mix will invigorate your mind out of its fog, realizing the true power of music and mixes done right. Pay Silas a visit on his MIXCLOUD page, Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I've had the opportunity to host some music by THE SILENT PROJECT (which you can see HERE), and I was pretty sure that I'd have that chance to do something more in the future. Well, it's the future. I was playing one of the many things that I have in the PREVIEW PLAYLIST on my Mixcloud account, and THÉURGIE comes along that stops time completely while it's spinning. I actually had to concentrate to keep from holding my breath. There are many classical influences throughout this mix that create the tension and release of harmonic depth that pull me in. While I'm listening to this, I keep thinking 'it can't be this amazing for the entire piece of music, it has to taper off'. But luckily, I'm wrong. There is no real zenith to this mix, it keeps climbing and taking me right along with it. By the time it does end, I'm ready to listen to it again. Like a good book or movie unfolding, I never stop to look at the time or even have the urge or ability to let my mind wander. My thirst for finding the perfect mix is quenched. For inspiration to create this mix, it was mostly conceived while a boating excursion along a wild river in the Amazon. The picture tagged in within the MP3 file is from this trip. The mix is meant to convey the beauty and power of that environment. And it definitely does. Let your mind take in the achingly beautiful sounds of Théurgie. Let your soul's thirst for inner peace and beauty be a sponge for it's offerings. Let your thoughts give in to the mindful transitions and selections presented within this piece. If I had just one wish, it would have been to look over Greg's shoulder while he was making this, in awe of his musical palette and thoughtful knowledge of what to put together to make one of the best mixes that I've heard. Make sure that you visit THE SILENT PROJECT, and show the love. Follow him and keep up with his mixes. You can also download his most current mixes from his SOUNDCLOUD page and visit his FACEBOOK page for updates and news. Lastly, he composes original music that can be found on his BANDCAMP page! Thanks, Greg, for not only creating such beautiful work, but also for keeping me inspired and allowing me to be a part of hosting Théurgie. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I have received an incredibly amazing mix-gift from an artist known as HALFTRIBE. This will blow you mind in a very non-abrasive and tranquil sort of way. I'm really lucky to have been contacted by Halftribe (aka Ryan Bissett) asking to host a mix. Normally, I contact the DJ and am (luckily) always given a green light to host the mixes. I have to say, I was really happy to have received contact from Ryan to host this mix. It's not often that I get goosebumps from being taken in by such intense sets, but this one is one of the rare ones that did the trick. This one sits where I want, in the foreground, in the background, bathing in the aura of its intense harmonic vibe. Halftribe has been very busy, creating amazing mixes as well as churning out some original music (links for everything are below).
Halftribe got into electronic music long ago through way of New Order (1986 on CD and Technique on Vinyl), which opened a gateway to the rave scene in the UK during the late 80's and early 90's. It was at these raves that Halftribe gotten taken in by the post rave chill music, and his fascination for ambient music sparked an interest in exploring its history. As with many frustrated creative artists with an ear for music but without means to create, that path seemed to be expensive and inaccessible. When DAW's became available, Halftribe finally had the opportunity to begin producing deep house, techno, and (mainly) ambient and downtempo. He has released on VENT SOUNDS,ATRIUM DIGITAL, and ASSEMBLY FIELD. When not creating original compositions, he spends his time remixing and has been fortunate, through his links within the industry, to be asked to do a remix for Karl Hyde from UNDERWORLD for his solo album (as well as commissioned for other remix work). In terms of mixes, Halftribe favors searching mostly undiscovered talent found on Soundcloud as well as Bandcamp, and used to do a regular mini-mix on his Soundcloud page to showcase these artists. It just so happened that one of these mixes got shared on MIXMASTER MORRIS' Facebook page, and the interest that it sparked led to a monthly mix for M:CAST RADIO which lasted 2 years. One might call if fate, that Halftribe was a huge fan of Mixmaster Morris when first getting into ambient music and own albums of his in his Irresistible Force guise. This year Halftribe is creating mixes for different sites, and has already had mixes up on PANAMBIENT, CIRCUMAMBIENT, SPACES FM, and ART OF BEATZ. You can find Halftribe's original music on his SOUNDCLOUD page and his BANDCAMP page. To hear more of his amazing mixes, you can steer toward his WEBSITE and his MIXCLOUD page. Keep up with him at TWITTER to get updates on his aural activities. I'm absolutely honored to be a part of Halftribe's musical quest, and hope that in some way my small part in this brings him just a bit more success. It's very inspiring to see an artist that is so very proactive, and that is without a doubt very inspiring for me! Thanks, Halftribe!

Let's take a bit of time to delve into the inner workings of our cerebral cortex, to the place where sight becomes sound, color has flavor, and moods create life. We'll use this area of our minds to take in the sounds of this mix, and sail gently into the ether of peace and tranquility. Allow the sounds to rinse away the bad vibes and negative moments that plague you, as they are replaced with a renewed sense of creativity, clarity, and focus.
As I come home from a long 32 day tour of playing music and a lot of traveling, it is nice to have my first day blessed with amazingly sunny and warm weather (after being in states like Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and so on....). I'm greeted by birds singing outside, and the smell of the fresh sunshine-laden earth. Nothing can be better than that, and the sense of peace and joy is reflected in this mix that I present to you. While I did buy quite a bit of new music on tour, I decided to create something from what's been on my secret mixtape rather than use my new morsels (which are being saved for the next mix). It took me quite a bit of time to fully realize and bring into fruition what I've put together here, and I really hope that you like it. Take in the sounds, let them surround you and open the gates of creativity within your cerebral space. As you ears, mind, and soul become caressed with sonic release, feel free to allow the warm blanket of sound transform your vessel into a vehicle of positive vibe that emanates infectious energy, ebbing and flowing onward and forward.

It goes without saying that I'm a huge fan and follower of Paul Simmonds aka JUNKYARD ANGEL. Every time I find out that he's posted a new mix, I have to play WAY ahead to prepare the uninterrupted space in which to take in the flow of his vision. If I'm bothered in the least bit during one of his mixes, it upsets the life cycle of his mix and takes me back to square one. That's not cool. But when I do finally settle down to take it all in, he puts me in a time machine where time has stood still for the entire listening session. Voodoo? Maybe. For the listening pleasure of those that seek an aural journey, I was blessed by JA to host this mix. Within the first few minutes, I hear many familiar sounds that are twisted, cut, and reassembled into his latest cinematic concoction entitled THE BLACK STAR TRANSMISSIONS. I could go on and on further and further about how this is an amazing mix, but with JA I really don't need to. His mixes speak for themselves. And by speaking I mean shouting from mountaintops. More of the joy of hearing his mixes is sharing his mixes. That's where I come in. Thanks, JA, for letting me be a part of supporting your amazing creative vision in crafting mixes.

Fresh and hot off the presses comes tasty new sounds for the mental space travelers that need some colorful and harmonically charged transitions and segues for their life's soundtrack. For this mix, I found a way to put together a lot of things that have been really getting my attention lately. I also worked with getting some samples from the FREESOUND site (that I've used on various original projects). There are many things throughout the day that we hear and take for granted. The many sounds that we hear provide our day with color, experiences, moments, and memory. We are influenced by what we hear our whole lives, whether it's music, communication, sounds, or what-have-you. The music here represents to the beautiful colors that I've managed to be fortunate enough to have taken in within the last few months. I'm gifting this aural experience to you, the listener. Take in the colors of this mix. Use this to transition you from the cold and unforgiving grey of Winter to the lush and welcoming green of Spring. Allow these sonic colors prepare your mind and soul for an enlightening journey to the ether of solitude and imagination.
Shameless promotion time: there is a track from me that I composed with a single guitar string (pitch shifted and layered) as the last track (I Wish That You Would Breathe Life Into Me). It will be on my upcoming release entitled 'Headspace'. Release date as of now is unknown, but within a few weeks hopefully.
I won't be able to post another mix for a little bit, as I'll be going on tour for about a month in the US, with a possible trip overseas for another month of touring (yet to be seen and solidified). I have some collaborations lined up with a few people, both mixes and original ideas that have been discussed, and I am really looking forward to bringing some great music to Spaceman's Transmissions. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
Every so often I run across something that has me completely frozen, hanging on in anticipation of the next transition and trying to find the seams within the mixes. There are certain DJ's that seem to be able to take a very gigantic musical mixing pot, fill it up with the most diverse sounds and moods, and create a sonic template within a universe of emotion. MOTE is one such individual. He has, to me, the same kind of twisted flair that attracts me to such DJ's like SILAS and FACTION. They just hear things differently and are able to draw upon such a large and diverse library that would seem intimidating to most, and I enjoy the sonic adventure that they weave when they throw caution to the wind. If these guys were cats, I would spend all day marveling how they land on their feet from whatever distance or direction.
Mote is based in Belgrade, Serbia. His mixes consist of deep atmospheres, laced with the laid back minimal warmth of electronic and organic sounds spiced with a wide range of field recordings and movie samples. Listening to his mixes are like watching movies unfold, and his musical guidance is creating the moods that travel in the same manner. I asked him to tell me about the method behind his madness. He provided me with this: "I don't know how music actually works, but I'm sure that what it represents is a separate, totally autonomous reality where we can reward ourselves with incredible experiences. I like watching movies, but sometimes I only listen to them; the music, the sounds, the words. In mixing I do the opposite, trying to evoke images and movement, even dramaturgy through my audible experiences. Coming from Belgrade, Serbia where partying is a lifestyle, having slow meditative moments with music is a good thing." So for download (and streaming) I bring to you a really incredible cinematic mix created by Mote. Part space music, part ambient, with elements of soundtrack based intensity. This one will make the bike riding playlist for me when it's time to do some trekking. I'm still finding new sounds in this every time I listen to it. Check out more incredibly crafted wizardry from Mote on his MIXCLOUD page. Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I've been into the BANDCAMP site for a relatively short while now, and I have to give the site a lot of credit if helping me find some great independent artists. Bandcamp is very instrumental in giving these artists a place to market their original music, and this has become a very valuable asset to those that praise independent musicians (that's me!). The creation of the DIY musician as producer/label/market is a product borne of the music industry's greed, and that benefits us in that we are awarded creations that the music industry would rather ignore. Their loss, our gain......
I've created this amalgamation from artists' music who I've gotten from Bandcamp (one caveat; the Phillip Wilkerson tune I got from Earth Mantra, but I absolutely love the tune and decided to slip it in this mix! I own quite a few from Phillip both from Bandcamp and Earth Mantra), and their sounds speak loud volumes. This is no means a complete list, just a current list of what I've found so far that has appealed to me. Trust me, I have not even heard a fraction of the unreal music that can be found there. It's quite the event to check back often and see beautiful sounds piling up in the queue. There are certain things that stick out for some reason to me and that comprises what's here. This mix, to me, was one of my favorites to make, as I'm standing on the shoulders of those who have created some masterpieces that really move me. Truly inspiring.
I have to give a shout out to 2 sources that I use when finding new music on Bandcamp. One is AMBIENT SLEEPING PILL, which is an indispensable resource for ambient music that is just barely over one year old (Happy Birthday, Mr. Klimek!). I've discovered many new artists there. The other is the listener BRIAN BOURASSA, whose Bandcamp profile spurs me on to check out new art quite often. I admire (and envy) Brian's massive accumulation of music and the honest critiques that he writes. He's been a consistent go-to guy for getting some good suggestions (Brian, I could have used input from you on this one, let's talk for the next one!).
You can view my ever so humble collection at https://bandcamp.com/infinite_coil. If there is just one a way to show support for independent artists, this is definitely it. You can get so much music for free, but supporting them is not only karma (as well as added to your collection so that listeners can see those artists you feel strongly about) but also very inspiring for the artists to create more. Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I've been a regular follower of JON LLOYD on Mixcloud, getting turned on by (of all things) his mix LIVED IN BARS which is a great outing. His mix THE TEXTURE OF SOUND is another that I highly recommend (you can see my comments on the mix). Jon's a consummate listener of all kinds of music, and shares his thoughts about what really vibes him when he hears it. He's managing to create mixes from whatever draws him in next, and isn't limited to a certain genre or flavor-of-the-month in favor of his own interest or intuition. I enjoy the comments that he leaves (not only for myself, but for others) as it's always evident that he dug way deep into the particular piece to really have the music exist firmly within himself. Inspirational, to say the least. I asked him if I could host a mix, and he obliged (much thanks, man!). For this particular episode, I bring you a different sort of mix that compiles a very good feeling array of positive vibe entitled ANOTHER DAY DRIFTS AWAY. This is not a mix for the sleepers (sorry!), but for the active listening participants. For me, this mix is essential headphone listening that provided me with a very good spiritual lift. While it's not so much ambient, it is an offering that gets your head right and puts you in a better place. If music were medicine (and not just therapy), Jon just filled our prescription correctly.
I asked Jon to shed some light on the how and why. Here's what he had to say:
"I've been making mixes since I could press the 'record' button. First on cassette, then on CD, and more recently for Mixcloud. A few years ago I became obsessed with making the perfect 'sleep mix', and would only be satisfied once I knew for a fact that I'd fallen asleep each night before hearing the final track. Like tonepoet perhaps, 'I'd like to teach the world to sleep'.
This mix isn't a sleep mix, more a comptemplative 'end-of-day' collection. I created it for New Year's Day 2014 and just about managed to finish it that day. I think the track by This Mortal Coil is my favourite on there; amazing lyrics, and music surging with emotion, nostalgia, a tinge of sadness but also hope. The first track, though, is also a bit of a killer. I once saw Michael Brook play in a church and it was amazing. His effects pedal 'wall' almost reached the ceiling. An incredible sound. Thanks very much to tonepoet for hosting this mix. I really have gained a lot of inspiration from his mixes and continue to do so (thanks, bro, sniff sniff)."
And so I bring you an enlightening amalgamation of really great music to lift us up. The first sunny, bright, warm day will definitely have this written all over it, but I encourage you to allow it to bring you out of the winter doldrums as well. Jon urges you to visit the amazing art of JEANNIE LYNN PASKE'S OBSOLETE WORLD. He has used a couple of the artist's images for his mix and they are the perfect match for his themes. Pay a visit and show the love. Check out more mixes from the diverse ears of JON LLOYD. Again, thanks, Jon!! Peace. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
For this episode of Spaceman's Transmissions, I'm proud to present the appropriately named SOFAMIXES. I was given this (upon request, natch) quite a long time ago, and have let its beauty saturate my mind upon many occasions. Well, now that we've had quite a bit of snow in Maryland and having spent the last few hours outside making snowballs and running around with the kids, I came in to thaw out with some hot chocolate, a hot potato, and this mix. Got to say, I'm having a very difficult time trying to figure out the best part of getting warm. I'm guessing the music. As I stare out the window at the snow outside on this graciously clear (but cold!) day, this mix is providing the perfect backdrop to my current mental state.
Sofamixes hails to us from Ghent, Belgium, and hosts some very eclectic and interesting mixes. Even a FRANK ZAPPA MIX, how cool is that (I love Zappa). Sofamixes has been quite busy with another Mixcloud profile under the name OSCAR LOMAN, supplying us with old-time mixes that feature some of the best artwork that I've seen. Be sure to get a pleasant earful from both mix profiles, and for those inclined for a second Winter Wanderland mix, it can be found HERE. Allow this mix to warm your soul in the frigid winter months, and let it's peaceful intent provide you an aural blanket that thaws your mind and body.

It's pretty obvious that one thing that attracts us to music is that it's a marker for events in our lives. How many times have we heard a song from the past and been transported the that particular time and place that brands a moment to the music? There's no better way to recreate the sense of experiences than from music that surrounds particular events, so that we can recall and relive these special periods again and again. And film makers know this. They create the anxiety, elation, pride, and so on that envelopes character's actions.
With this offering, I've chosen to create a mix of offerings from films. A lot of times, I'll really tune into the music in a film, and make it a point to search the music out. I have a lot of soundtracks, and I do listen to them quite often. I didn't put a lot of things on this that I would have liked, as I tried to stick with a particular format. Some of my favorites soundtracks that didn't make the cut are Devdas, Purple Rain (I have every Prince album!), The Truth About Charlie, Sprout, Oceans Eleven or Twelve, A.I., A Beautiful Mind, Amelie, Hair, etc., and so on. I purposely tried to steer clear (as well as I could) from the very dark and orchestral heavy soundtrack music that exists more prominently, and chose pieces that ebbed and flowed with organic transitions. I hope that you like this mix. Popcorn is optional. Throughout your life, when you hear a sound or song that inspires you, let inspiration become moment specific. No one has the same life soundtrack as you do. Peace.

Welcome to another episode of Spaceman's Transmissions with a requested mix from SILAS. I've had the extreme fortune of letting this mix permeate my mind for quite some time now and have picked up on the subtle nuances that flow between sections (although there are realistically no 'sections'; the whole mix is a consistent journey of seamless flow). What we are presented with is a rich wealth of soundscapes, moods, and colors that are contemplative and cerebral. As much as I think most ambient mixes can be a passage into the subconscious depths of slumber, this mix is one that must be taken in while fully attentive of its intensity and directional flow. If Pink Floyd did an ambient-ish concept album, it would sound like this.
Silas has managed to define, establish, and destroy the fine boundaries of music that encompass ambient elements, and has created cinematic brain food. He's rewritten ambient structure in his own majestic style, and weaved such an amazing tapestry balancing depth with sound. His use of darker themes and degraded colors meld with vinyl flavors. When a presentation like this comes along, I can't help but feel as though it's a very long time in the making (edit: I was told it was 5 or 6 months in the making, ouch!). It definitely makes it difficult to keep up with the imaginative minds of mix gurus like Silas. Much repeated listenings on this to be had, for sure. Silas was initially inspired by Detroit techno (the disputed birthplace) and electronic music to develop his mixing obsession in 1998 while residing in Somerset. Beginning with artists from such labels as NINJATUNE, MO WAX, and WARP, Silas' tastes evolved to include artists like The Future Sounds Of London and Boards Of Canada (I have everything from them). Eventually, Silas moved to Bristol to dig on the scene while DJ'ing and started discover and taking more atmospheric soundscapes of artists like Aphex Twin, Helios, and Jon Hopkins. Eventually, the sounds of The Cinematic Orchestra (one of my top five), Mogwai, and Sigur Ros (again, my top five) began spark his creative mind to explore that side of his mixing palette, and he created NORTH STREET. With the snowball rolling, he began to create mixes with sounds of his cherished sonic past along with current favorites like Burial, Mogwai, To The Future, Wisp, and Sigur Ros.
Breathwork is a culmination of classical, electronic, field recordings, ambient, dark/light elements, and film scores (which Silas finds very inspirational). Stripped down piano passages are also an obsession of his, and you'll hear appropriately placed flourishes of this throughout the mix. Although there are 31 tracks listed, the number is actually around 45 or so. It all came down to getting good transitions, and realizing the concept perfectly constructed in his head (read the last sentence of the first paragraph again). This all started out as a mix that was supposed to be for personal use only, and through encouragement from a few close friends (who were loaned mix), we are blessed with an unreal journey of deep and consistent themes within a blissful aural experience. It goes without saying, but this is Silas' favorite mix thus far.
So, now that I'm shutting my trap, I'll let the music do the talking. Silas, in my opinion, is obviously proven to have a meticulous ear and mind for dreaming such an epic sonic journey. I'm really blown away to have been given the chance to share this, and I'm looking forward to the new year with many more carefully crafted offerings. Thank, Silas! Hear more creations HERE.

I've been holding on to this little gem for a little while, and it's been getting a good bit of rotation on the playlist for two obvious reason: 1) it's JUNKYARD ANGEL, and 2) it's bloody great! I've been so very fortunate to have received an exclusive mix gifted to me by Mr. Junkyard Angel. I present you with Dusk Light Shadows. He meant only to share it with me privately, but how can this not be heard by anyone and everyone? Of course, I'm choosing to include it here, as well as on both my MIXCLOUD site and my PODBEAN site.
Along with this exclusive mix, I'm also bringing you WAITING FOR THE RAIN which he hosted on Mixcloud and I found to be so very mood enhancing (note: this one is available for download off of ambient-transmission.blogspot.com). For some reason, when he creates a mix, I live inside the music. Waiting For The Rain sets a particular mood, and its meaning to exist is warranted by its sublime beauty, intensity, and carefully executed (as well as flawlessly delivered) theme.
Junkyard Angel is one of the more underrated ambient mix creators around, and I'm so blown away by his ear to capture and mold soundscapes to reflect his deep appreciation for all things musical. His mixes never seem disjointed or uncomfortable. He sets the flow, opens the bright box of fear and elation, and stirs them in a musical pot of equal parts wonderment and intensity. Once again, I'm very envious of his drawing of different textures within this mix. And that's a good thing. These mixes have all the elements that I favor: dark and light, and tons of dynamic contrast, while keeping the focus on the melodic beauty at the core. Every time he creates a mix, the bar is raised. Guilty confession time: I've been trying to figure out what it is that attracts me to his mixes so that I could incorporate that element into my own (talk about hero worship!!). It's getting increasingly difficult to even match his mixes, and I appreciate his inspiringly melodic morsels!
If I have one wish, and it's a very small one, it's that Junkyard Angel keeps blessing us with great mixes. Fantastic mix, my friend! Pay Junkyard Angel a visit on MIXCLOUD and show him the love! Peace.

After reviewing some new music, I came across STILL POINT by HAMMOCK. I was so overwhelmed with its deep, hypnotic swirl and realized that there was no way I couldn't put it in this mix. I was supposed to be doing a final project for an Organizational Communications class, but now I'm sidetracked with putting this out there. How unfortunate. No, not really (actually finished the class, did quite well in it BTW).
After hearing Still Point, I came up with title immediately. I'm truly inspired right now. And I've created a mix that will take your mind on a peaceful, uplifting, and enlightening journey to the ether of your mind. This mix is multi-purpose: you can sleep to it, you can definitely stay awake to it and have your mind blown, or you can choose a state in between the two. I've carefully mixed and mashed up some very tasty ingredients for your mental departure to the deep corners of solitude and escape.
Please feel free to lighten the grip of your mind's gravity. We'll return after a bit. But for now, let go, and bathe yourself in the sweet air of aural colors. As these colors caress your thoughts, your sense of being and awareness will stabilize into a state of solace. Reflect on the beauty of your past memories, and project into the grasp of your future goals. Whatever might be burdening your thoughts, you have my permission to let that go for a bit while we take this journey.
An unending thanks to Andrew Hoffman for giving this mix some radio airplay at WRFI.ORG. You can download the radio version from THE SLOW DRIFT or listen to is streaming at Andrew's MIXCLOUD PAGE. Andrew's radio broadcasts add such a special nostalgic feel of yesteryear that I miss, but with music that I really want to hear without any commercials (the way radio should be). So very happy!
I hope you enjoy our epic flight, and that you repeat the adventure in any way that you can. Support the artists, and keep dreaming. Peace.

Welcome to another edition of Spaceman's Transmissions with the sublime beauty of TUMULTES, a really peaceful (and requested) mix from THE SILENT PROJECT. I've been wearing this mix out a lot lately. It's spinning at the house, it receives play in the car, and gets regular rotation on the media player. Most importantly, it lives comfortably on the phone, which is reserved for extra amazing sonic pleasures. If I could eat this mix, I would. Trust me, I'm trying to figure out a way!
The Silent Project is a sonic architect that hails from Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe; city that resembles New Orleans in many ways. The cultures and lifestyles of the two cities are quite similar, and the history is shared (I'll have to read up on that a bit, as I've spent some hazy weeks in New Orleans). Despite living in the city, Greg spends a good amount of time in the nature, and that tunes his ear for making such deep masterpieces. He's always looking for the beauty and elegance in the world through way of music (minimalistic forms such as post-rock, or neo-classical), literature (Dostoyevsky), sports (like surfing, very cool), and science and this is reflected in his outlook for the mixes that he creates, and his time as a fundamental researcher for mathematics explains his interest in abstraction. This all culminates in his broad reception of sources for enhancing his life through music. And while he doesn't have a favorite artist that he gravitates towards, he definitely seems to favor labels such as MILLE PLATEAUX (the first period), WARP, KRANKY (me, too!), TYPE, TOUCH, and RASTER-NOTON. The Silent Project spent some years as a DJ/composer under the name UssF, mainly spinning minimal techno and minimal house (although away from the boards, the preferred listening music of his choice was ambient and electronica). When he had the chance to move abroad and travel, he decided that it was high time to quit the techno scene and focus on what would become The Silent Project. Glad he did, as we are rewarded with rich sonic outings such as what I'm presenting here to you.
There are so many wonderful woven textures within, so I'm hosting Tumultes here and 2 more on the SPACEMAN'S TRANSMISSIONS SITE featuring The Silent Project. You will find immense depth within the selections, and be rewarded with great peace. You can also follow The Silent project in a number of ways; first there is his FACEBOOK page (follow him and get updates), download the latest mixes from SOUNDCLOUD, and even purchase his music from BANDCAMP.
I'm absolutely sure that you will enjoy these mixes, and you'll be taken in by the same peacefulness that possesses The Silent Project when he mentally mixed these aural delights within the grip of Mother Nature. Peace.

Welcome to another episode of Spaceman's Transmissions. For this venture, we will set your thought-spacepod up nicely for your cosmic exploration. Delve into your innermost mind capsule for a bit, clear out the thought obstacles that hinder you, and project into a state of enduring peace. This mix is optimized for absolute relaxation and can be used in a number of ways. Mostly, it is to be used for sailing past the clouds, beyond the exosphere, and into the deep void. Using starlight as a beacon is permitted. However, do not be distracted by unnecessary influences such as random useless thoughts of anything but your creative flow. As you drift among the cosmos, reflect upon the beauty that life offers, and celebrate that. Upon reentry, your focus will be calibrated and thoughts will be aligned with purpose and motivation.
I purposely tried to mix it up with many diverse styles of music. A bit of ambient, a dash of shoegaze, and a smattering of ethnic colors. For me, and hopefully for you, it kept things a bit interesting. I've got some great guest mixes lined up, and this mix was inspired by those around me that are creating some amazing things.
Support the artists (like PHILLIP WILKERSON, whose music I used quite a bit in this mix). Peace.

So far, I've been absolutely blessed with receiving and reviewing all the of the mixes that I've requested to host. Almost all of what I've gotten have been posted in some manner already, I just do my best to help them get 'out there' any way that I can, because I believe that such incredible mood altering expressions need a bigger outlet. This time, I was afforded with an absolutely new song, and allowed to upload it to Mixcloud, and post it here. Way stoked about this!
For this posting, I bring you AKRRRS, who is a fairly recent discovery of mine that has caught my attention through his Dream Sequence series. I've downloaded quite a lot of them via his MIXCRATE page (you will need to create an account to download anything there), and I've had some serious tranquil moments while taking in the deep, soothing sounds that encompass my ears and mind. The music that I've been fortunate to have gathered has prompted me to make a special bedtime playlist which I absolutely cherish. He seems to have an incredible library of consistently great music, and creates such beautiful soundscapes with them. His mixes consistently take me to a horizon upon the outer reaches of the mental solar system, and set me down gently in complete solitude. Not only does akrrrs create such masterful mixes, his artwork for his mixes are absolutely unrivaled and express the beauty of the mixes on the visual front. After taking in his mixes, your mind will be clear, your stamina increased (post-nap). You'll also notice an increase in mental energy, logic and reasoning, and clarity. And libido. No, I'm not kidding, it's science, and totally proven, I think. Uh, trust me...akrrrs hails to us from the northeastern part of England, and has spent his 'formative' years in Leeds and Manchester. Although he began as a DJ spinning techno and jungle beats in the early 90's, ambient has always been a big part of his musical love (you can still hear small flourishes of older artists like Aphex Twin, The Black Dog, and Global Communication [one of my favorites] in his mixes). He initially started making more ambient-based mixes to soothe his pregnant wife (good medicine, my friend!), and later found that making more beatless mixes didn't disturb his kids. Something about two birds with one stone here.
I've named his special presentation mix 'SEQUENTIAL DREAM' in honor of what he's done so far. I've also included an additional 2 of his mixes that I keep coming back to (#4 and #28) on my BLOG (ambient-transmission.blogspot.com). I have to tell you, picking out only 2 others within an enormous collection was a very daunting task as there is an extensive wealth great music available. This offering is a complete treasure chest of soundscapes and tranquil moods; you will not be disappointed. akrrrs, thank you so much for allowing me to post your music and help bring it to those who would have otherwise not had a chance to hear it. In my opinion, your mixes are some of the best, and I look forward to hearing new ones all the time. I guarantee the listener a peaceful, and extremely pleasant listening experience. Visit him on his MIXCLOUD page and take in some more beautiful sounds. Peace.

For this guest mix, I bring you one of the most diverse mixes that I've had the pleasure in hosting. I was contacted by FACTION not to long ago about hosting a mix. I gladly gave his mix POD ): 101 a listen and was not quite ready to be so completely blown away like I was! It's really a very rare treat to find someone whose ears and mind are so big that they create an epic like this with so many elements, colors, moods, transitions, and dynamics in one sitting. It's mind boggling how many different songs (38!) are in the ingredients list, but it comes off like a really deep concept album more so than a mix. Listening to this, you easily get the sense that Faction just hears things differently. Everyone who creates mixes manages to pull things together and try to create their own voice with what's available. Faction is speaking in tongues.
As I've mentioned before, I host what I wish that I had created, and POD ): 101 is absolutely no exception. I will have to say that this is not mix that you'll use to sleep to, but rather one that demands your undivided attention; you don't want to miss a single mood that gets thrown your way. I haven't yet been able to find another mix that so effortlessly and honestly weaves such deep ambient sounds together with pulsating dub and trippy commentary, and make it so organic. In my opinion, it would be a welcome challenge for anyone to live up to the high standard that Faction has set. If there's one mix that has deservedly made it to my sacred bike ride playlist, it's this one. Use this for your commutes, as background and foreground, and be ready to have your mind blown.
Thanks, Faction for letting the world dig in on your unbelievable creation. I'm truly honored that you allowed me the opportunity in having a part in getting this out there. You can follow Faction at his MIXCLOUD page, and his SOUNDCLOUD page. Enjoy! For me, the saddest time is not winter, but the approach of fall. I don't hate the fall season. I love it! But knowing that summer and the vibe it has brought is withering into a memory is a hard pill to swallow. In summer, I'm invincible; I am reborn with every hot burst of sun, thriving to gather the energy of every new day, leaving little or no wasted moments in my wake. Every summer day is a new awakening, brought about by the renewed anticipation of Mother Earth's sun-song upon us. Get the point? I freakin' LOVE summer so much that it pains me to see it dissolve.----more----
The first thing that I notice is a shortened day. Just a few days ago (and it's been a while since I've actually realized this and posted this narrative), I was fully aware that it was dark at 8 o'clock in the evening (edit: at this time, even sooner). Already. Sadness is upon me. Next, the leaves shed new colors and die, and the sky will be overcast with impending change. But all good things must end.
To help ease the pain of shorter days, and colder nights that approach us, I give you solace in the form of a quite amazing amalgamation of sonic textures. This mix is optimized for contemplation of the changing seasons and should be used as you watch the skies go from light to dim during your day. The music in this mix represent both the lament and joy that I feel with each bygone season. Reflect your own state of mind with the music and find comfort within it's grip. Peace.

For this guest mix I present you, the listener, with an absolutely stellar outing from an ambient DJ that hails from Hungary. Not only that, but the only female ambient DJ in Hungary. How cool is that? Beyond a measurable scale of incredibly cool.
LEPQUE started out as a radio DJ, but got the bug for digging into ambient via Peter Namlook and Jonn Serrie, and has been fighting for the pure ambient style for over 10 years now. The name 'Lepque' is a play on the word 'Lepke', which means butterfly in Hungarian. She claims that it comes from the moth symbol. Just as a moth seeks the light, but dies when reaching it, Lepque also prefers to stay in the background, within the cool and soothing darkness.
When not preaching the gospel of ambient at a number of festivals at Ozora, the Sziget Festival, VOLT Festival, Waha, and many others, she's afforded the opportunity to spread her art in the club scene as well as radio. When performing at festivals, she is the lone wolf, representing the weary in their unique and mysterious space. In this world, she takes pleasure in witnessing thousands giving in to the sandman as she weaves her sleep-inducing sonic yarn. Seeing the happy faces the next morning proves that it's not just dance music that is welcome at festivals.
We are very similar in that we both draw a distinct line between ambient and other subgenres of chillout music, like lounge or downtempo styles (that others claim is ambient). One of the biggest wishes for Lepque is that she can make people realize what true ambient is. As with this space-themed mix, her main focus is to tell a story and present a theme with each creation that she conjures. Through her dreams she develops ideas, and becomes the music storyteller.
Her other wish is to eventually release her own music. After hearing her mix, and taking it in, I am pretty anxious to what has been bouncing around in her mind. Lepque, thanks so much for allowing me to host this, and I look forward to witnessing your future dreams coming to light.

I'm very excited to be awarded the opportunity to host a mix by this gentleman. L.D.R. hails from Sweden, and has some of the most eccentrically cool and diverse music that graces Mixcloud. ----more----I originally asked for a single mix quite a while back, just to give it a few listens to when on my daily commute. Those listens warranted an addition to my media player's 'Bike Ride' playlist, which is highly restricted to the best of the best (fewer than 4 tunes have made it on there in 2 years). FROM DUSK TILL DAWN HANGOVER MIX 2013 happened to be the mix that made it to the coveted playlist. What that means is that on my bike rides (13 miles, 20 kilometers or up to 30 miles, 48 kilometers if I'm not being a sissy) I play this playlist in shuffle mode, and for that one hour I'm locked in. Everything that I play in this playlist gives me the same buzz I got when I heard it the first time. Basically the music is my fuel, and without it I'm a hot mess.
Luckily, L.D.R. has yet to make a substandard mix, and it's amazing to me that he mixes everything in real time, with vinyl, leaving in mistakes, glitches and so on. Very organic. And bold. That amount of risk gives his mixes life. I'm filled with excitement when I get notifications that certain people have posted and L.D.R. is one of them. I've had some pretty amazingly funny and enlightening exchanges with him, and actually learned a few funny phrases in English (lovebombing, my favorite new word). It even doesn't surprise me that like most people that I follow, he is an artist in every way (check out his Flickr page HERE).
I'm bringing you one of my favorite mixes from L.D.R. (You can download 3 more at SPACEMAN'S TRANSMISSIONS). All of L.D.R.'s mixes tell a story, and they are all quite diverse. They are combinations of ambient, with retro-futuristic grooves, a bit of weirdness, but altogether a fantastic sonic voyage. I just had to host From Dusk Till Dawn Hangover Mix 2013, because it's just an amazing journey of strangeness, with sprinkles of eccentric joy. I've been fortunate to have collected a few of his mixes and they provide background music for my many commutes. I will be hosting more by L.D.R. at some point. Many, many thanks big time to L.D.R. for being an amazing artist with great taste and a careful ear to create such interesting stuff, and allowing me to have a small part in hosting it. Peace.

I know that I've already had JUNKYARD ANGEL recently guest on a mix, but this one to me is a real mind blowing epic. I'm really drawn in by the theme of it, and the subtle blend of each approaching color. I grew up on the coast, and visiting the oceans is nowhere near the same as growing up there. There is a sense of comfort for the soul that lives there, and in my opinion, this mix by Junkyard Angel captures the peaceful and beautiful vibe with an extreme accuracy.
We've conversed about the importance of the ocean in our lives, and it has equal impact upon us. The waters can be unforgiving for those who seek to conquer it, but offer solace for those who respect it. Perhaps Junkyard Angel can put his thoughts into words best: 'For me, going to the coast can be a calming and cleansing experience, seeing the vast sea plateauing out to infinity seems to dissolve the myriad of problems stacked up within, feeling them fizz away with the tide into the depths beyond, another drop in the ocean. When I was very young, I had a crystal set radio complete with army type field headphones (no Dr Dre style in them days) installed next to my bed. At night I would try and tune into something contemporary but more often than not I would stumble upon foreign radio broadcasts or better still the shipping forecast on BBC Radio 4; the strange array of words in English didn't make much sense but intrigued me nonetheless. On some occasions the forecast would oscillate wildly distorting the voice, melding into an aural seascape of vaporised language inducing a raft like slumber.'
I couldn't have put that better. Visit Junkyard Angel's Mixcloud page HERE, and download some of his original compositions HERE. One day, JA, we're gonna get the chance to do some night fishing together, mark my words!

(from Webster's Dictionary): imag·i·na·tion noun i-ˌma-jə-ˈnā-shən 1: the act, process, or power of forming a mental picture of something not present especially of something one has not known or experienced 2: creative ability 3: a creation of the mind
Creative thought is a basic sense that we are born with, but grows dull as we suppress its misalignment within modern society. Stop saying silly things, stay within the lines, act like a grown up. We are molded to learn how to act based on 'more mature' peers within our age group, thus sacrificing our creative soul. I have say, when you have kids, you go one way or the other. On one hand, you can act like a 'normal' parent, with strict rules and norms that society expects, monitoring the 'fun meter'. On the other hand, one could revert to being a child, in order to gain a greater understanding. The alleged 'adult child' will begin adopting the mannerisms of their offspring, gaining a second wind of their childhood and doing such juvenile things such as making faces at the dinner table for a laugh, reading comic books and watching cartoons together, and so on.
I belong to the second group.
I created this mix without a preconceived idea of what it should be. Rather, I just chose a bunch of random things that I really love. Maybe there is no theme, but to me there is definitely a derived feeling. I can say with much assurance that music has kept me young. It has made my mind fresh, and open. I crave arts, and everything I hear becomes my life's soundtrack; living in and for the moment. My children soak up music and art like a sponge, and their lack of inhibitions allows me to have some of the most creative talks with them than I ever could with an 'adult'. We all seek to reminisce our past, relive our best moments, and rebuild upon our memories. Music is our landmark for everything (you know this already!).
Take the music, digest it, and fit it into your daily life. Create mental images to live by, swallowing your inhibitions in favor of feeling truly alive. And don't give a damn what anyone thinks.

Being a guitarists, I give my piano playing musician friends a hard time. I accuse them of having no soul since they can't get vibrato, sustain notes without the aid of machinery, and can't bend notes. In other words, they can't do all the cool stuff that guitarists do (keyboards are another story). But to say that they don't emote is a bold statement. Piano covers a lot of ground, even if you can't take it to a campfire (still got them beat!). Just put on most amazing soundtacks and you can feel piano wire delicately gluing the mood to the scene.
I remember being a young guitarist and sitting in a piano practice room with a big hollowbody guitar. I'd rest the end of the neck somewhere up on the piano, hold down the sustain key, and play really nice add 9 sus 11 chords and listen to the overtones that formed like a cloud, barely dissipating. That could be my first dive into real, live ambient, and those moments have defined a valuable moments in my life.
My initial self reaction was that using predominantly piano for a mix was that it would end up sounding like cold new age glop. Or piano bar kitsch. I definitely wanted to use music that spoke, and didn't just repeat a bunch of repetitive and tired progressions for the sake of passing time. Not my style. I purposely took this long to do such a thing so that I could really find music that stuck to my soul, and caused a lasting sensation. I hope that it sticks to your soul, and brings you peace.

Admittedly, I search out some odd music a lot of times, just to keep my ear sharp. I am always really stoked by something that can capture my full attention or sit in the background, but it's very hard for music to have an equal footing in each camp. There are even few mixes that can keep my attention musically, inspiring me to search the artists involved, and have me floored from the beginning to the end with an anxious anticipation of each approaching colorful scene. Now, I have to say that I post mixes that I wish I had created myself. When I hear these mixes, I am happy that someone created this with the hopes that anyone would possibly hear this, not even realizing that this someone was me. I like to think that they made it for me, because its mood fits whatever I'm feeling at the time, as if to say 'here's the current soundtrack for your life's situation'. Those kinds of mixes stay in your head, swimming around, building your addiction to their sonic offerings.
I am way proud to have an opportunity to release some music by someone that I respect as a person, artist, and musician. This mix was presented by my request to JUNKYARD ANGEL. In receiving this mix, I got to converse (a bit extensively) with Junkyard Angel, which is always the best part. I was afforded the opportunity to exchange listening histories, speak of what drives him artistically, and hear some general things about his life. I is an absolute inspiration to realize that people on the other side of the pond have the same interest, aspirations, and commitments. It is even more inspiring to know that we share similar musical tastes and that music is a very powerful and life-defining force for us. Junkyard Angel is a musician's musician, fully capable of weaving the same magical fabric that inspired him (you can hear and download his compositions HERE; we've even talked about some collaborations, which I'm REALLY stoked about). The sounds that Junkyard Angel put together lay somewhere between ambient, mystery, and a twist of happy nightmares. Since I heard the very first mix from him, I've been taken in and elated to have found all new music that I had not yet discovered. And that's a high for me. Every mix by Junkyard Angel is aural bliss, and I present you with my favorite (you can snag 2 more mixes from MY BLOG). I've used these mixes consciously and subconsciously, and they are effective in both arenas. Take it in, and enjoy it.
Thanks, Junkyard Angel, for the opportunity. Visit Junkyard Angel at his MIXCLOUD page.

As a 'sleep DJ', I'm always searching for others in the same business. I have to say that I'm pretty blown away by the whole scene of creators and our common mission of easing the tension created by a turbulent world. We all in a sense pay respects to Dave at LOWLIGHT MIXES for essentially paving a lot of the way for us to do what we do (he wasn't the first, but he's been so dedicated and consistent throughout the years that he may as well be the first). Dave got me into all of this in the first place, and through tons of badgering and questions, he got me up and running. So I'm constantly on the lookout for others that do what we do, and use Mixcloud to discover and communicate.
OMUL NOU is one of the discoveries I've luckily made through Mixcloud. At times, I listen to whatever mix comes up, and hopefully it will catch my attention. Or it can be that the pure tranquility of the mix will draw me deeply into its world. With Omul Nou, the latter is the case. I have to admit, I've had some really good sleep listening to Omul's mix. At the computer. In a chair. Upright. In the middle of the day with the sun on me. More than once. And yes, drooling (bonus!). FYI, drooling to a 'sleep DJ' is like sweat to an athlete. Just wanted to clear that up.
I've chose to host the mix Silent Voice. While it's a mere 2 songs, this one to me is pure meditative therapy, and it's my favorite. Also, I can say that it's so very difficult to mentally make it to the end of this without a sweet disconnect. If you can make it all the way through and don't get taken in, something is wrong. After a good dose of Omul's creation, I feel sedated with clear mind, and its ability to be work in both the background and foreground against a backdrop of commotion eases my mind This presentation is much like Brian Eno's Music for Airports or Discreet Music, and it always nice to discover a gem like this. I hope that you, the listener, finds the same peace and tranquil mental state that I've found. Enjoy the mix, and feel free to use for you nightly excursions beyond the dark curtain of slumber. Check out Omul Nou's MIXCLOUD page for more meditative vibe. Peace.

It's time to get back within your mental spaceship for another cosmic endeavor. I've been digesting a good share of space music, and have been fine tuning the craft for a peaceful journey to the deep, quiet spaces within your mind. I trust that you've gotten your pre-flight briefing and that there are no questions. Feel free to use electronic devices during any part of flight (mental snapshots are encouraged). There will be an in-flight meal of relaxing cosmic energy, as well as morsels of mind nourishment. You are advised to check your negative energy and bad vibe baggage in at check-in. These burdens will be stowed under the craft and will more than likely dropped from the sky like a hot potato at some point during the trip. Do not let this sadden you.
If at any time during the flight you feel mental weightlessness, feel free to engage this phenomenon with subdued vigor. Letting go of yourself will bring you great peace and it has to be noted that it is the journey and the destination that provides you with renewal. It must also be noted that the destination for each traveling soul will be different from the next. Searching peace and elation is our next stop. Make sure that your sleep belts are fastened, you have been properly hydrated, and enjoy your flight.
In the near future, I will be fortunate to have some more guest mixes that I'm very excited about from Mixcloud artists that have woven pure magic. I'm also in the process of creating some more original music (that will be half composed/half improvised), and also have some collaborations. Sorry about the sparseness of the posting, I've been spending my time fishing, biking, flying kites, swimming, playing baseball and soccer (or football to the rest of the world) and most importantly throwing the frisbee. With the young 'uns, of course. Good times.

The greatest joy that I get from going to Mixcloud is discovering new music. New music means new artists to discover. HGTR'S ODES TO THE SEA mix is the first thing (and usually the only) that I spin for my every other day bike rides around the BWI airport loop (12.5 miles or 20 kilometers); it has made an impact upon me for sure because of the newness of it and its diversity. Being a musician, I absolutely thrive on discovering new sounds, progressions, and styles, and it's a really big deal to me to discover a completely new direction of music and mixing.
That brings us to MELMOTH_THE_WANDERER. Through the absolute graciousness of Melmoth, I've been sent some mixes to review and choose from. Reviewing is scaring me a bit, choosing is very difficult as they are all quite amazing (headphones required for subtle fright). I'm pretty jealous of the vibe that Melmoth creates, and it's as if Halloween is every day (only with more nightmares and less Pokemon masks). If you showed up to Freddie Krueger's house for a treat, Melmoth's music would be spinning. Like HGTR, Melmoth has caused me to delve past the music to try and find the information behind the music, search the artists, and figure out why and how they created what they did. All while wearing goosebumps. A mix like THE HAUNTING OF THE WITCHES CAGE had me reading up on some fairly frightening narrative, and every mix from Melmoth is a history lesson. I would have to say that Melmoth's music is not for the casual listener, and that's a very good thing. Every mix demands your attention and your mental focus as it urges you to wrestle with your uprising innermost fear. We are provided with an insight to his madness via Soundcloud:
"Born at an exceedingly young age I have been locked into the sounds of the night, the light and the half light every since.....these are the private memoirs and confessions of a justified sinner - a devout and religious miscreant.....not all that wander are lost. I am just one of a collective of like-minded individuals who have been collecting, conservating, and curating the back catalogue of forgotten Hauntology trailblazers."
I can only post 1 mix of Melmoth's (you can find more at ambient-transmission.blogspot.com), so I'm picking my favorite one. I would advise that you not sleep with this on, or listen before bedtime. Rather, play this during the day, when you are wide awake and maybe over the top happy or something. Take in the fearful groove of these mixes. An absolute must is a visit to MELMOTH_THE_WANDERER'S MIXCLOUD PAGE to hear more incredibly and carefully mixed creations. You can also read up a bit more on Melmoth at THE FIELD BAZAAR WIKIMEDIA, and hear even more at THE FIELD BAZAAR SOUNDCLOUD. This is music that chooses to invoke a reaction. These mixes get better every time I hear them, and like anything meaningful create a good story along the way. Melmoth will get a reaction, rest assured. Enjoy the fear, my friends.

Guten Tag (oder Morgen, Abend.........wasimmer), wie geht's? Mir geht's gut, danke. Just trying to keep up with old skills, sorry. Like the very first mix that I did (MELANCHOLY), this outing is a representation of a nostalgic period in my life. Perhaps it's the vibe, or a certain sound within the songs that I pick up on. Having must moved (a big event in my life, and I mark those events by what I listen to), I find a comfort in the songs presented here, and I have been bouncing these songs off of my mind for a little bit now. I just recently discovered Petal, and this song more than others is a composition direction that I'd like to explore. I'm going to pick his song apart and find out what makes it magical to me. World Without End is the perfect song to open this mix up with. It creates the right atmosphere for me to get my head right. I'm actually quite (justifiably) jealous of Petal's composition skills and tones, and in particular on this piece. Be sure to pay him a visit at either his blog (PETAL) or his artist page at Earth Mantra (EARTH MANTRA - PEDAL). He also gave me a killer review on my release with Harmony & Decay (thanks, man!!). Also a relatively new discovery is Phillip Wilkerson, and I'm a big fan! The first time that I heard Stillpoint, it sounded (to me) much like the transition from Pink Floyd's Money into Us And Them (from Dark Side Of The Moon). I will never forget the morning my sister bought that album and played it (all day) while 'babysitting'. Stillpoint put me in that same place as soon as I heard it (I'm waiting to hear the opening of Floyd's 'Us And Them'). I will definitely be using more of Phillip's music in upcoming podcasts. A quite amazing track that means a whole lot to me is Brian Eno's Discreet Music. I used to play (very loud) guitar with a country band in Alaska for 4 or 5 hours a night every weekend (I'm really not making that up!) and would have my ears completely blasted out. When I got in the car (which I had to warm up for 30-45 minutes when it was -40 or so), this was the song that I would let ease me back into my subdued realm. There were a few other songs that I would use for that, but this one really sticks to my mind. That coming down session in the car meant that it was a downhill battle to drive home and turn off the mind (with a pocket full of money!), and I cherish those moments. Like I said - nostalgia. I also slipped in 2 songs from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. It's one of my favorite movies, and the moods created by the music enhance the film. I actually am working on music-from-films mix, and should have it ready in a few weeks (the tough thing is, most songs are about 2 or 3 minutes, so that's A LOT of songs!). Most everything else is stuff that I listen to at night time (everything from the John Foxx/Harold Budd collaboration, Paul Avgerinos, Stars Of The Lid) or make mixes for the car (Boards Of Canada) and hear them over and over and over and............. I can remember the first time that I heard each tune and the impact that they had. This mix means a lot to me and will be one of the ones that I constantly play for myself. I hope that the music brings you peace, and tranquility, and comfort. Share it with anyone who needs to wind down and let go for a bit. If you're needing something to help you get to sleep, I have managed to brew up something very tasty. It's all natural, allergen and gluten-free. It will reduce your stress, balance your Chakra, help you search your Chi, and........you know what? I have no idea what I'm talking about.
I've consulted the best sleep masters to bring you peace in drifting among the stars, and create a warm sense of foreboding slumber. Don't be afraid to sleep, but rather let the music ease you into your state of letting go. This mix will guide you to and through the cosmos, and I've put it through rigorous (but stress free) tests and have reached the conclusion that it's safe with medications.
The calibration on this mix was optimized for your journey to the stars. The rain in the beginning and end are the warm blanket meant to provide your intro and outro to maximum chill, use it wisely. Enjoy this mix, it is my gift to you.

I really just want to put this mix out here, even though it's not mine. I'm very much in love with the moods that are created in this, and want it to be shared. HGTR did an amazing job of putting this together, both musically and conceptually. I have to say, of all the mixes that I listen to (I download them and listen to them in the car, at night I put them on my iPod and play them, and just sitting at the computer to do anything at all), this one is to me one of the best ones made. The beauty found in some of these songs is unparalleled in my opinion. Have to admit, I'm a bit jealous that I didn't make it myself. But having heard it, I'm glad that it exists. It's not all ambient (most of it's not), but very multi-purpose in that it covers such a range of atmospheres and colors. Oddly, today's my birthday (happy birthday, me!), and the first thing that I did was make some coffee (mocha swirl with coconut cream, my fave), eat some oatmeal, and listen to this!
If I am able, I'll host the mix for a download. I'm really hoping that HGTR will do some more like this in the future (nudge, nudge). Thanks, HGTR, for this moving piece. You can here the other mixes by HGTR HERE. Enjoy!
[EDIT: I have received an MP3 of the mix and I'm posting it as well as commentary and a tracklisting from HGTR]
"And I'm very glad to hear that you think this 'was like a story unfolding, that's exactly what I aimed at and my approach when making these things. Most of the time I don't know what sort of stories is being told - but to me it's more about a sense of a narrative, rather than an actual narrative. Though for 2 of my previous mixes I took the inspiration from books I love and tried to recreate the atmosphere of them through music. 'After Dark', for instance, was directly inspired by the Murakami book of the same name; and I didn't make the connection at the time, but after the mix was finished it suddenly occurred to me how similar it was to the atmosphere of the Twin Peaks series - a very lovely coincidence! I don't know if it's a good thing but 2 years later it still remains the mix I'm most satisfied with. And yes a distinct atmosphere (even though the elements used to create it might be totally different) is another very important aim of mine and also what I'm looking for whenever I listen to something on Mixcloud - so I totally understand when you mentioned 'sleep DJ' and I think you've been doing an excellent job!" When my son was born, I was pretty clueless as to how to even manage taking care of a child. I mean, I had some books, watched some videos, asked a lot of questions, but when the thing cried............ugh. My wife and I took some advice from a friend of mine who had used the services of a woman that was well known in a circle of families with young babies who did all of the visits for free (Alaskan benefit since she was a registered nurse). She came over and did cognitive tests, seeing our son's abilities in reacting to certain stimulus, and finding out what to look for as far as mental development (is he following my voice, does he grab things, and so on).
Well, one of the most important things to a new born is rhythm. Since they have been conceived in the womb, they are so very familiar with the heartbeat. That rhythmic pulse is essential to their comfort. I was told that playing rhythmic music for the baby would soothe him. I opted for Prince. My son loved his evening car rides amid the snowy banks in Alaska.
Therefore, I'm serving up a very nice bit of ambient pulse. This mix would be perfect as background music for your activities, driving, or any other activity that you see fit. I had a very large amount of music to choose from, and I believe that I've put together a perfect amalgamation.
Please enjoy this mix, it is probably one of my favorite ones (how can you love one child more than the other, hmmmmmmm........?). Support the artists, and find peace within the music.

It seems that 90% of the time that I'm making a mix, it's pretty much when most people are probably sleeping. During this mix, I have to admit, I put my head on the desk a few times. I was initially making a meditation type mix, but looking out my window (during my wake/sleep struggle) at the subtle glow of distant lights prompted me otherwise. This mix is for that, and I'll use it to do my ritual of refusing to knock out just yet so that I can daydream just a little bit more. Hopefully, it will serve you for that purpose as well. Find peace with this mix, and let it bring you down to a sedated state of pre-sleep chill. Support the artists. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
It's been a while since I was able to post. I bought a new house and made a move over the past month. It was a very mentally and physically taxing process which is actually not over yet (but very, very close). I didn't have internet for a month, which made things difficult (sadly). But now I'm back up, and stoked about that. This mix was made just before I started packing up my belongings to be moved (I did move all my belongings myself, cleaned and painted, over 10,000 pounds worth of crap). So the mix has been able to simmer a bit, and I've listened to it with great pleasure. I'm extremely excited to have discovered a few new gems (Cosmic Hoffmann, Divinity, and Johan Agebjorn) as well as had the opportunity to work with some reliable others (Adam Fielding, Between Interval, Global Communication).
Time travel has always been a fascination of mine, and last month my son asked me why I couldn't time travel. Or fly. Or become invisible. From movies like Back To The Future, (H.G. Wells') Time Machine, and Donnie Darko (of which initially inspired the theme of this mix), it remains an interesting, but elusive desire. But if it ever is possible, I hope that the traveller finds this mix a perfect sonic accompaniment. If you're like me, you wake up well before you have to in order to have a very peaceful morning before work (I wake up at 6, and don't have to be to work until 9, even though it's a 10 minute commute). I reserve that time to get some coffee ready, read some news, and listen to some things that will ease me into the day. That said, I pretty much hate waking up to an alarm. I have an alarm on my iPhone that fades in, and before it does, it plays an ambient playlist through the night. I also have an app on the phone that allows me to play a mix of 4 different sounds (I choose heavy rain, frogs croaking, crickets, and thunder) and set them at different volumes and pitches. That in conjunction with a noise machine that produces EVEN MORE rain, and I'm set for a really peaceful evening. Who would want to wake up with all that going on? Right. This mix eases the pain and tension of having to get up in the morning and go through the daily grind. It is also well balanced for a restful night, so feel free to use it as prescribed by your intuition. This mix along with your morning coffee should work out any issues or kinks that you mind incurred during the night. The selections in this mix are for the thinkers. There are pulses within to keep you mind sustaining powerful thoughts, and to fuel creative juices. I've picked from some of my favorite 'electronica' based musicians, and still kept it extremely chill. Don't be startled at the new harmonic progressions that are presented, but rather enjoy them as a sweet aural embrace. In this mix you will find new understanding, melodic convergence, awareness of self, and an overall stimulating of the other senses. Use wisely, and as always, support the artists. turn on, tune in, become enlightened, THEN sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
I have created a special mix for the night travelers, whether it be among the stars, during a journey, or within your four walls. If you are traveling by plane, the hum of the engines should be calibrated for the music already. The audio has been carefully mixed with the freshest sonic ingredients. Please use responsibly, and support the artists. Thanks for listening/downloading.

I see quite a few people that add some mixes of mine to sleeping playlists (on Mixcloud). I'm very honored to present a mix just for them. I made this mix about a month ago (I'm on the road at the moment, for an entire month), and just wanted to wait a bit to post this. Its main purpose is to effectively guide you through the transition of letting go. I hope that this mix brings you peace, and a deep meditative state of relaxation. Use wisely, and don't operate heavy machinery under the influence of the music. Support the artists!

Set your compass for due upward and buckle up for the celestial voyage to the stars. I present you with a whole lot of really good, diverse ambient music for your travels, studies, or zone-out time to accompany stargazing sessions. I've been listening to a lot of new stuff, and most of this is from my daily queue of tranquil soundscapes. Please use carefully, and don't operate heavy machinery while enjoying. Fall is coming here in Baltimore, and I'm going to miss the summer, it's been a good one. I've had an amazing summer with the kids playing baseball, riding bikes, swimming, throwing frisbees, flying kites, watching the stars at night, and most of all looming by the wooded area next to my house with my son to witness the fireflies perform a symphony of flickering light come nightfall. Pure bliss....... As always, support and appreciate the artists. turn on, tune in, sleep...ambient-transmission.blogspot.comfacebook.com/tonepoetmusic
Every so often, I'll make a mix CD of all sorts of ambient MP3's to listen to at bedtime. Things that I like, things that I want to check out, etc. The one that's been in rotation for about 3 months now has been blowing my (sleeping) mind. I finally popped it into the computer to browse its contents. It was Drift Music by Jon Jenkins and Harold Budd, The Stargazer's Journey by Jonn Serrie, a few Brian Eno tunes, and I Fell Asleep At My Desk Making This Mix by Dave at LOW LIGHT MIXES. The amount of chill vibe that I've been getting from this CD has inspired me to make this creation. Therefore, I had to look for the real sonic spacemen to help me gather up some really good ambient sounds.----more----This mix is (once again) for the traveler among the stars. May it bring you tranquility and be the appropriate elevator music for your ascent to the cosmos. Don't forget to search out and support the artists.

Everywhere we look in everyday life, we are surrounded by numbers: speed limits, item prices, time, counting sheep at night to sleep, and so on. This mix is a tribute to those everyday numbers that make our day a misery or a blessing.----more----I put on 2 pieces that I almost thought that I would never use, since I consider them sacred epics (12:18 by Global Communication and 1/1 by Brian Eno). But this mix calls for it. I believe that my attachment to these two songs comes from a time when I was taking a course (back in 2005) and I had put a massive amount of MP3's on disc to listen to in my spare time (since I was apart from my family for 2 months, I had nothing BUT time). Among the first songs played from the disc (along with others from Global Communication, Brian Eno, and William Basinski) were these 2 tunes. I heard them over and over at the start of every session, and welcomed them as a 'ceremonial wind-down' to a busy day. I still get that same buzz from hearing them, and I hope that you do as well. I just realized after posting the media on Mixcloud, that there are 8 songs, and that number happens to be my lucky/favorite number. No lie.
Well, wrapping up, I hope that this mix brings you peace, and more peace. Don't forget to support the artists!

This mix will help usher in the night for you. You can use it to relax, watch the sky go from light to dark, or sleep. As summer starts to draw to an end, we'll soon see less daylight. I'm a bit sad by this, as I've (thus far) had an amazing summer, seeing my kids growing up a bit and getting them out on bicycles every day.----more----I'm hoping in the near future that I (and some friends of mine) will create some more original music that can be used for some things. I'd like to eventually find the time to put out a full length release to be given away with some nice artwork. Key phrase being 'find the time'.
Not too much to say about this mix, and perhaps less is better. I will however, say that buying Treasure by David Helpling and Jon Jenkins (third tune in the mix is from that release) was a very good decision on my part, I'm really digging it. Thanks for listening, and support the artists.

Hello, all. This mix is for the daydreaming cloud watcher. This summer made me that (again), since it was my son's first real summer (between kindergarten and first grade) and we spent the whole summer outdoors, riding bikes until dusk, throwing frisbees, flying kites, swimming, and so on. And doing a lot of daydreaming. You can use the music for anything that you'd like, as long as you're not operating heavy machinery. ----more----I got the chance to finally put in a few things that I've wanted to use for a while now. AND, I've been kind of digging finding some things online through Netlabels (you'll see that in the track listing for the label). Basically, ARCHIVE.ORG has a lot of really great stuff (like EL Heath in this mix), and people post many things for free, whole releases of numerous tracks with artwork. I've found some really amazing things there, so I think that it's worth checking that stuff out. I initially started out to do a semi-electronica set featuring a smattering of beat-laden chillout, but stuck with making everything (nearly) beatless (I did manage to cheat and put in a beat with the Bombay Dub Orchestra tune, I love them!). I did use some of the other artists that I wanted to use for a more beat oriented mix, like Carbon Based Lifeforms and The Cinematic Orchestra. Another time, perhaps.
Anyhow, thanks for listening, downloading, sharing, and appreciating some amazing music. Please support the artists, they do it for the love!

I'm doing something out of the ordinary this time. This mix I actually did quite a while ago, it was probably the 3rd or so one that I did (although I made a couple of revisions). The mix is a bit shorter than others that I've done, but I had to find things from the artists that didn't completely melt one's face (sorry Yngwie!). I had some other artists on this in the initial phases (like Mr. Malmsteen, and some Nuno Bettencourt), but didn't want it to be a lot of notes or seem a bit shred-licious. I still wanted to make it pretty chill. That was a challenge. ----more----I'm a professional guitarist by trade. I've traveled and performed in 49 states (no Hawaii yet), and over 20 countries, all in the name of playing guitar. It has gotten me everywhere that I am, and the journey is not over. So it was a matter of time for me to put something like this out. I love guitar, and guitarists, and obsess over new gear, and a lot of volume. I really love ambient music because it is something that I don't do, and it's very calming and minimal. I suppose that I'm a bit envious that the really great ambient artists create a very dramatic feeling with so little.
I opened up with the amazing Jeff Beck. He was a huge influence to me getting into playing a more fusion approach with the Blow By Blow and Wired albums. I still wear them out and pick the notes apart. His Live At Ronnie Scott's DVD is a mind blower! If you've seen the movie Superbad or The 40 Year Old Virgin, you've heard the music of Lyle Workman. He also played for many years with Beck (not Jeff). He also toured a bit with Sting. The guy has heavy credits as a studio musician. The Dream Theater tune The Count Of Tuscany was the one that initially made me think that it would be neat to do a mix of stuff from sources that aren't ambient at all. My wife and I love them, and we actually saw them play live a few years ago (I think my wife was the only woman at the show! Ha!). Putting in Xanadu from Rush is also a no-brainer. I love the prog (going to see Symphony X in Baltimore in September, google them, they are pretty heavy!). Carl Verheyen is another really heavy player with an amazing amount of studio credit and chops. I actually had a lesson with him while on tour through California in 2008. He blew my mind, no doubt. I'm still working on what he showed me. David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) invented ambient stoner rock, and absolutely deserved a few spots in this mix. There's just something about British guitarists, and Jimmy Page is one of the best. Honestly, I only set out to learn Stairway To Heaven, and nothing more. But that planted the seed that set my life in motion for what I do now (by mistake?). Every next song I heard from Led Zeppelin was the best thing I heard in my life, and Jimmy's guitar army still amazes me. Well, I enjoyed making this mix (of course). I probably won't do another like this, I don't think. Enjoy! Turn on, tune in, rock out, THEN sleep... https://www.tonepoet-music.com https://facebook.com/tonepoetmusic
The working title to this post was 'Your Other Mother'. I ended up calling it what it is now for no particular reason. I came up with the concept for this mix while down in Florida, at the beach every other day, flying kites, doing a lot of running in the morning, and seeing great sunsets. Actually, the seed for any and all of this sensation came from my son 'graduating' from kindergarten in June. It brought back all of the amazing things that I remember about being a little kid in the summer time ----more----It helps that I grew up in a beach town, and my only concern was getting a new frisbee or a cool SKIMBOARD, watching airplanes flying overhead spelling out 'Pepsi', cloud watching, riding bike like it was a religion, and every other fun thing that makes being a little kid the best experience ever. Anyhow, enough reminiscing....
This mix I present to you, and hope that you really enjoy it, and most of all that this summer (that we're still clinging to) brings you MUCH joy! I have to advertise the fact that artist known as Bark Cat Bark (Josh Todd) makes some amazing music and plays all the instruments himself. He is no longer going by that moniker, but if you dig deep enough, you can find all of his stuff online. The best part: it's free!

Okay, I know that I said I wouldn't post anything until after I got back from vacation, but I REALLY wanted to put out THIS mix! This is more stuff from my listening sessions in the last few weeks to find pieces of music that really stand out to me. I'm really, really proud of this mix, because I was able to (for the most part) have the most consistent mix without too much abrupt changes in mood and key. That's the goal for me, I think. ----more----One artist in this mix that I listen to a bit regularly is ADAM FIELDING, who is a great electronica musician, and an even greater singer. I have a few of his releases, and I love the moods that he invokes with is unique choices of chord structure and tone. A must hear artist, in my opinion. His opening track is the most ambient thing that he does that I'm aware of, but, man, what a killer opener!
I used CONELRAD's music (again), because he consistently creates beautiful soundscapes. I'm really hoping that he will release some more stuff this year. I know that he's involved with music for some video games as well as a soundtrack to an independent film. Okay, I'm really done this time! I'm not kidding!! I have some amazing stuff lined up, including an all original collaborative mix between myself and Randy Wight that I'm looking forward to in the coming weeks. Think Stars Of The Lid meets Steve Roach with a bit of Robert Rich thrown in. Stay tuned!

I'm going on vacation after finishing up an 18 day tour in the Midwestern US states, and I won't have much time to do a mix for a few weeks since I'm driving down to Florida with the family for a lot of swimming, some fishing and seeing Mickey Mouse. ----more---- Since I've been on the road, I've spent a lot of time in the past few weeks listening to a lot of new stuff and jotting down what I wanted to use for a new track. I came up with a science based theme, and decided to put that out. I was originally going to call it 'The Science Of Silence', but went with with the current title.
I got the opportunity to listen to a lot of Robert Rich during this one, and even caught up with a bit of bio reading on him. Thankful for that. Alright, I'm signing off for the rest of the month. I have some amazing mixes planned, and I can't wait to get back and get them going. After I take pictures with Donald Duck, that is.

I had the MOST gratifying experience of working with people who are not big or even known in the ambient music world to create this mix. It all started when RYAN LUCHT contacted my via Mixcloud and expressed his interest in having me use his music for mix. I told some musician friends of mine, and stated that I would love to use some stuff that they created. They agreed to it, and here's the mix I came up with. ----more----To give you a small insight of some of these guys and myself, I will say that 2 of these artists I currently work with, and we DON'T make ambient music as a profession (we ARE professional musicians, but we travel across the US 100-120 days a year melting faces!). We are in a rock band, in the Army (no lie, I can't even make that up), and we travel all over the lower 48 (and to Kuwait, and Iraq) playing music and supporting the troops. I love ambient music because it is really left field for me, and I've never done it (until now, there are some things of mine in this mix).
So, first off, Randy Wight is a singer with the band that I (used to) play in. He has written tons of killer music, and believe it or not, it is a lot of odd meter prog rock and fusion. He's my room mate when we travel, and we put on our sleep music every night. Well, when I expressed my interest for a track of his, he felt that being my room mate for years had allowed him to feel qualified to begin creating. He says that Steve Roach is a big influence in his style, due to his dark, cinematic soundscapes. You can hear that in all of his stuff (there are 3 tracks by him), and even named 'The Further' after the movie Insidious (we saw that together hopped up on a massive Starbucks coffee binge).
With Randy's ability to create and compose such amazing backgrounds, I was able to ask him to provide me some background ambiance to to a track that I improvised last year in a hotel room on tour (like now, we are on tour, thus my inability to get a lot of stuff outside of work generated). The end result is the second track 'Burning Sky'. We have since decided to create some more stuff and go under the name 'harmony & decay', so stay tuned on that. The next artist, KIRK KADISH, is also a musician in the US Army Field Band (he is the one on the right of me in the photo from our bio page). He is a monster musician, and keyboardist extraordinaire (and my boss, so I HAVE to say good stuff about him, ha!). All kidding aside, he has been in the ambient scene for some time now, and we have a lot of favorite artists in in common (Steve Roach, Stars Of The Lid, Between Interval, etc.). I was blessed to have him contribute some tracks (I have some more, saving those for a later mix).
The next track, is from RYAN LUCHT. Ryan has created music that is generated by photographs and has a release entitled Photogenesis that promises to be pretty amazing. He has posted a small amount to be heard on the above link, and is currently raising money to have it done by pledges. Please, please, pay him a visit, and contribute, so that we can have some amazing music shared with us by an extraordinarily talented musician! I really enjoyed mixing his tracks (I have one more that I want to use on another mix of the same sort very soon!). Thank you, so much, Ryan, for allowing me to create some magic with your tracks!
I have one more artist that I really wanted to work with, but didn't get the tracks in time, so that will have to wait for just a bit. I am EXTREMELY honored to have worked with these musicians, and I really look forward to doing more with them in the future. Make sure you visit these guys, take a look and listen, and support the artists.

This mix is geared for the peace seeking traveler soaring among the stars. Again, I tried to keep the mix going from dark to light, to keep things not too heavy or too sweet. Well, not too much to say about this particular offering, I prefer to let the music speak for itself. I'm confident that this music certainly does. Please don't hesitate to support the artists for bringing us such amazing aural experiences!----more----

My personal challenge with this was to make a mix that I REALLY liked, only take a few hours from start to finish, that did not mess with family time in any way, and didn't cause me to go to bed at a time that only allowed me about 4 hours of sleep before I had to get up for work. Whew! I'm pretty sure that I accomplished that task. ----more----I wanted to make a mix that was very dark, but when I started getting the tunes, it made me wonder how anyone could make it through something so heavy and ominous. So I changed my plan to put alternate between the dark and light (thus the title). Nothing says dark ambient music like Steve Roach (had to put in two of his tunes). It was a good chance to use some of his stuff. Maybe should have gone with some Robert Rich, but he was on the last mix. There are always future mixes. I have some more Maenad stuff, and it came down to that or something from Nurse With Wound. Another time, another mix. Enjoy this mix!

I've been wanting to do this mix since I started this blog. Okay, that means about a month ago. Nonetheless... I've been a member of MAGNATUNE for some time now: I used to buy albums (CD's? digital releases?) separately when that was the only option. Now, they've managed to step it up with a streaming membership and a download membership (my preference) that is affordable (edit: no longer true) and allows you to get TONS of music. You don't even need an account to stream EVERYTHING that you want (edit: again, no longer true). By everything, I mean classical (I'm partial to the Medieval stuff), hip-hop, rock, ambient, jazz, ethnic, folk, eccentric, and downright not-fitting-a-genre. ----more----I am in NO way affiliated with MAGNATUNE, I just think that they are completely affordable and extremely ethical (being a musician myself, that is very rare in the music business). Okay, enough hero worship, on with the music. This was a daunting task, to only pick things that were appropriate, in order to make a representation of a very small genre that is barely a portion of what I have from them. I managed to put in a bit of my favorite artists/releases, like Anne Garner (first and last songs), Robert Rich, Paul Avgerinos, and Rapoon. This allowed me many hours of sifting through tunes and artists. Not at all a bad task. I think that overall, I managed to stay consistent with my style of mixes, keeping it for the most part very ambient. Going through so much stuff made me eager to do a mix with some small amounts of pulse. Time will tell if I need to scratch that itch... Well, enjoy the mix, and pay them a visit, you will be glad that you did!

I started off making a mix with more vocal stuff in mind. But when I had problems loading in a Sigur Ros song, I just thought it best to just make a good solid mix. I did manage to put in some vocal stuff, though. I'm not sure what language is sang in Low Light (a tip of my hat to DAVE MICHUDA); I would guess that it's Gaelic. Also, the second tune is from a release that is mostly traditional folk-ish medieval music. This piece is great, I heard it the first time on SLEEPBOT ENVIRONMENTAL BROADCAST and decided to find and purchase the rest of the music. Glad that I did. ----more----I managed to slip in some not so ambient stuff, like Bombay Dub Orchestra (amazing stuff!), Carbon Based Lifeforms, and Lawrence (check out the rest of Childish Music, very interesting). The last artist, CONELRAD (click his name for his music, please!!), I have to give made props to. One, for making really incredible music that I absolutely love. Two, for posting it all for FREE! And three, for corresponding with me about his music. Thanks for listening, and support the artists!!

I'm making a resolution to keep the comments on the posts a bit brief; I want the music to speak for itself. I started out making a time-based mix, and for the most part, a bit of it turned out that way. But in the end, I just picked a bunch of stuff that I really enjoyed and wanted to share. I picked some stuff I've had going around in my mind for a bit. There was a bit of a resist to put on some Brian Eno, since it's a win-win situation with ambient music, but one cannot resist. Of course, it also contains some Global Communication (which I love!), and an artist (Gopal) from the Magnatune label. ----more----I was going to save the Max Richter song (On The Nature Of Daylight) for a classical based mix, but I decided to go ahead and use it here. No apologies over that! I actually did a mix of guitar based stuff before this, but I'm still mulling it over. Some of the moments are a bit shred-licious. I think that might be alright, it is all still VERY chill. Alright, enjoy the music, and of course support the artists!!

I started out just making a mix that used more ‘real’ instruments rather than synthesizer pads to give my respect to the more composed pieces of music. After working on it a bit, I could see that the titles lent themselves to a ‘space’ vibe. That was going to be a theme for a mix of mine at one point, so why not now? These songs represent space, weightlessness, and inspire awe just like the cosmos.----more----You know, very often my son (who is 6) and very much into super heroes asks me what super power I would like to have. My answer is always the same: the power of flight. Why? Because growing up as a little boy and reading Superman comics, I was always captivated and jealous of the fact that he could fly into outer space and see the most amazing thing that the majority of the world’s population would never see. I guess you could say that I’m a bit of an astronomy fan.
I pulled a few sound samples for this mix, from a NASA site as well as a site that posted a few samples online. For the next space mix (there will be another at some point), I’ll dig a bit deeper finding better samples, but for now…..
In keeping the instrumentation as organic as possible, I opened up with a track from HAROLD BUDD. To me, the sedating effect of this track represents weightlessness. The EP that this track is on was produced by none other than Brian Eno (with Chas Smith on steel guitar). Who would ever think that steel guitar could be so tranquil?
For the same reason I like STARS OF THE LID, I also like WINDY & CARL (pssst, real guitar!). They describe their music as ‘dreamy & psychedelic’. I couldn’t agree more. And, of course, with a title like ‘The Sun’, this song fits perfectly.
Next up is again a very influential musical hero of mine, VANGELIS. Creation Du Monde translates to ‘Creation of the World’ (French).
ALOOF PROOF is an artist that I discovered from the ASPHALT EDEN site and fell very much in love with the organic sound. I purchased Piano Text, and here I decide to play an excerpt from the same release (there are only 2 tracks, but that is more than sufficient). There are more recordings of this artist that can be found online, but this Piano Text is pure magic.
JONN SERRIE seems to specialize in ‘space ambient’, if there is such a term. And for a good reason, he makes epic voyage music.
I really enjoyed making this mix. I pulled out some astronomy books, checked out some Hubble pictures, and basked in the warm flow of great music.

Hello! This time around, I wanted to capture a bit of a vibe from the time that one drifts off to sleep until the awakening. I started off with something from BIOSPHERE that for some reason reminds me of growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida. I lived not too far from the beach, and as the youngest of 6 spent a lot of time outside playing Frisbee in the summer. I was also not too far from the airport and Embry Riddle University. The students there often flew small prop planes for study (fun study, right?), and hearing this song from BIOSPHERE really takes me back to that time when I was young, carefree, and spending all day outside until day faded until night.----more----I put in the rain to transition between 2 events: the end of the evening and that time when just before sleep when your mind begins to visualize bizarre things. I wanted you to imagine you are hearing something out of the ordinary, hence the GLOBAL COMMUNICATION talking and an excerpt from JIM HALL’s Beija Flor. Beija Flor is a piece written by South American composer (can’t remember who), and this rendition from JIM HALL does it much justice. As far as jazz albums go, his album All Across the City and Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue are both my favorites (tie).
I have a lot of soundtrack material, and one day I’ll put more into use. I love everything about the soundtrack to American Beauty. Not only is it one of my all time favorite films (Kevin Spacey is an absolute hero!), but the music is dead on accurate as far as creating the right mood for the film. I’m envious of THOMAS NEWMAN. When you read his Wikipedia page, you’ll be blown away by the amount of output he’s had.
Oddly, I discovered the song Cirrus (HUGH & SATURATION) from a game created by IVORY called 4 DIFFERENCES. When the game loads, you can click a link to their website and get all of their compositions free. Not bad. Great game as well!
Again, more field recordings of a creek to break things up a little bit. The sleeping night is all about transitions.
The DAVID HELPING song comes from an album called Sleeping on the Edge of the World, which is appropriately named for our nightly passage. David shares a website with Jon Jenkins, so it’s worth checking out.
I have every album that PETER GABRIEL has released. Most people didn’t like OVO: The Millennium Show as much as his other stuff, but I love it. Peter’s not singing every song, there are a lot of cameos, but it’s him through and through. I spent a lot of consecutive days wearing the grooves out on this album, and every time I hear it, it’s like the first time that I’ve heard it again. And that’s okay. I have some more of his stuff that I’d like to use at some point, probably as excerpts.
The last 2 artists, ROBERT RICH and DAC CROWELL are both artists that I discovered via MAGNATUNE. Robert is a household name to those that like their ambient a little bit dark, somewhat like Steve Roach in feel. DAC is a bit unorthodox, and definitely has his own approach to soundscapes which are innovative and memorable. You can stream both at MAGNATUNE.
If the ending seems abrupt, it is meant to be that way (the song honestly ends like that) as you are awakening. And who ever wakes up over the course of 30 minutes? Only in Hollywood.
Well, I enjoyed making the mix, and have even more ideas for the next one. I’ll create one for the sleepers probably next, or a soundtracks mix, or a collage of snippets from rock tunes. We’ll see. Enjoy!

This mix opens with the very first thing that got me into any sort of ambient music. I’m a huge admirer of VANGELIS ever since I borrowed (stole) his album Ignacio/Entends-Tu Les Chiens Aboyer. The first side (half of which is in the mix) is like a lullaby. I had the worst experience of my life at that point, and this album was played every day. VANGELIS, to me, is something of a modern classical composer more than an electronic musician. Other releases from him that I highly recommend are Heaven and Hell, Mask, Soil Festivities, The Blade Runner Soundtrack, Mythodea, Rhapsodies (w/Irene Papas), and L’Apocalypse Des Animaux (I know it’s a lot, but I’m a big fan!).----more----The next song comes from the album 76:14 (the duration of the album) by GLOBAL COMMUNICATION. HERE’S the Wikipedia page on the album, there are some interesting facts about it worth reading. Their other release (Pentamerous Metamorphosis) is also great, and I’ll do a mix with some stuff from that at some point.
One thing that I love about STARS OF THE LID is that they use a real guitar (!). They, like Paul Avgerinos, are a thinking man’s ambient. Their music for me is not so easily ignored. I can’t unconsciously listen to them, they draw me it with their organic amalgamation. I like this particular song because of the violins and the warm analog sound of the entire thing.
Once again, I have to use the opportunity to inject some PAUL AVGERINOS (of course). Not too much to elaborate on, this one is also from Words Touch. This piece is very compositional (Paul holds a degree from Peabody Conservatory and plays bass. I actually got all of my stuff of his from MAGNATUNE, which is a great (and affordable) source for independent music.
BIOSPHERE (real name: Geir Jennsen) is an artist from Norway that considers his music to be ‘arctic ambient’. He sometimes uses field recordings in his works. Like most of my favorites, he definitely has his own compositional style. There is another song from this same release that will be on the next mix.
Okay, I put in a thunderstorm to break things up a bit, sorry!
The last track on here is another VANGELIS tune from the Blade Runner Soundtrack played on an out of tune piano (or maybe is just an effect, hard to say). Very beautiful composition, if somewhat sad.
Okay, thanks for listening/downloading!

I didn't pick songs that put me in a melancholic mood, but rather songs (or songs from releases that I admire) that represent periods in my life.
I wanted to pick some of my favorite (very difficult task!) songs for my first mix. I can definitely say that BETWEEN INTERVAL's Autumn Continent is in my top 3 for ambient releases. ----more---- So it had to be the first song. The entire CD is very solid from the first sweeping entrance to the last dying ember of drone. I have to say that PAUL AVGERINOS' Words Touch is an absolute must-have for those who like a thinking man's ambient. Paul is a more of a composer than the average brick-on-keyboard noodler, and Words Touch (along with Love, which can be a perfect sequel) is rather deep. I have an MP3 disc player that has played both of these releases every night for years now (in my son's room as well). The next song, I Shall Be Removed from KEN (I don't have much information on this artist) is something that I discovered from sifting through people's suggestions for ambient music. Oddly, the rest of the artist's music is indie rock. #19 by APHEX TWIN is a bit of departure for this artist, although he has released a couple of ambient works. I made a mix for a friend, who had never heard of APHEX TWIN, and he loved it. I then sent him a link to the videos WINDOWLICKER, COME TO DADDY, and RUBBER JOHNNY. Kind of blew his mind. The last song is a great one from WILLIAM BASINSKI. I love what he did with loops, he is a pioneer of sonic decay. Hopefully, these songs will lift you up, and ease anything that weighs you down.
Turn on, tune in, sleep...
