Atlanta born and raised Samantha Ethridge, felt alone in the world with her gender dysphoria and knew very little about the transgender community despite the fact that she lived 20 minutes down the road from the famous Transgender SCC Conference. Little did she realize, the love of her life who she would meet years later, was attending that conference every year, just a stone’s throw from her home. Samantha shares with us her amazing journey from working in the most testosterone filled environment as a career fire fighter to years later, transitioning at work in the private sector while managing a team of all women. As a parent and grandparent (with two more along the way) Samantha reflects on her coming out and all the steps that led her to finding her fiancé Stephanie Ward, moving to Arkansas and starting her new life surrounded by new circles of friends and a love for domesticity.
