On March 14, 2022 the Team spoke with Dr. Adrian Stokes, VP of the PSOJ and Dianne Parram, President of Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association about the impact of inflation, increased oil prices and how you can position yourself investment portfolio.
We take a further look at interest rates and our expectations for the companies most likely to benefit/likely to not be impacted as much from our expectation of higher rates. We then summarize our outlook for stocks/investment selection for the remainder of 2022 as follows 1) Continuing to eye strong base effect companies who can benefit from economic recovery 2) Stable balance sheet companies that can withstand the rise in global interest rates.
Given the discussed macroeconomic environment we then discuss some stock picks that investors could consider. Our picks include Tropical Battery, Express catering Limited, Wisynco, and JMMB. ALL of which we believe the current environment will afford significant tailwinds. The greater push to renewables and improvement in efficiency should aid tropical while the continued growth/rebound in the tourism sector provides benefits to ECL and Wisynco. Finally, we think JMMB has long been an undervalued option and it’s our hope the pending buyback will spur price appreciation.
