What does it mean to train up a child in the way he (or she) should go? And how exactly do we do this?
As Christian parents, we are not only beyond blessed to have the gift of children, but we have a mighty responsibility to train them in the ways of the Lord, to raise them up to be strong Christian men and women, teach them to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul and mind, and to love others as themselves. We are to encourage their growth as image-bearers of the Lord most high.

From the start, God had a plan to save His fallen children and redeem them back to Himself; to bring them from a hopeless state of death to a hopeful promise of eternal life. The means to carry out this inconceivable plan was to send His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth as a man. He would live a sinless life, not for show, but in order to offer Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sin. He would pay our debt of sin so that we may be saved and redeemed to Him.
Fear and discouragement can, has, and will grip us all at one point or another. They are emotions that can cause us to do irrational things, disrupt our daily lives and keep us trapped in a mental battle. Fear, worry, anxiety, and discouragement are some of Satan’s greatest tools. Therefore, it is imperative that we, as followers of Christ, who have the Holy Spirit of God living within us, know how to fight against fear.
Prayer can be a wrestling match, can’t it? It is not something that comes naturally to fallen mankind. As a result, all of us will find ourselves stuck on what to say when we pray at one point or another. Even the disciples, the closest to Jesus, didn’t know how to pray as we see them ask Jesus in Luke 11:1, “Lord, teach us to pray.”
Jesus graciously responds to His disciples with what we know as The Lord’s Prayer.
The beauty of The Lord’s Prayer is that it is a guide, a roadmap to lead us into deep, honest, and inmate conversation with our Maker. If we break down this prayer verse by verse, we will learn that it is a springboard to launch us into fellowship with God. In doing so, we will never have a shortage of things to say when we pray.
In Psalm 118:24 we read: "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it?
What does this verse really mean, why does it matter and how can we apply it to our lives?
At first glance, we may interpret this verse to mean precisely what it says:
Today is the day the Lord has made, crafted, and created with God’s very own will. And because we know God’s will is without blemish, we should rejoice and be glad in each and every day He makes.
Well, yes. This is true, and I will get back to this point in a moment, but…The actual context of this verse teaches us something different.
To set your mind on things above is not a one-time event but a new way of living. It is a lifelong journey as we seek who God is and what He says is good for us.
