Data protection might well be one of the dullest subjects of the business world - there, I said it.
But, just because it mightn't be as fun as choosing your website colours or creating a new offer, it underpins the very structure of everything you do within your business and therefore cannot be ignored.
In this episode, we discuss who data protection registration applies to, the principles of GDPR, and how data protection laws might be relevant to your business.

Buying an online course or programme can be an exciting time; especially if there are promises to scale your business and take it to new heights.
BUT, before purchasing a course, it's always important to consider the outcome in relation to you, your business, and your personal circumstances.

This episode was inspired by a plea for help that I recently saw in a Facebook Group, from a new course creator whose coach was trying to tell her that she needed to spend around £200 per month on additional software to promote and sell her online course.
I needed to weigh in on this conversation, and so, in this episode, I break down the questions that this individual had and I go through each piece of software recommended to see if it is really needed.

Having a trademark is a key step in protecting your brand's identity; after all, the last thing that you want is to invest in stock that you can't legally sell, or be taken to court for trademark infringement.
When I started The Confident CEO range, one of my biggest investments was getting the name trademarked. Why? Because I'd heard a horror story of someone investing $10,000 in stock that they couldn't use because they had accidentally infringed on someone else's trademark.
Since getting my trademark, I've had a lot of questions about the process. This episode is NOT legal advice and instead my opinion and experience on the process of gaining a trademark, whilst answering the top questions I've had, including:

How has your 2022 year in business been? Has it been your best year yet? Or do you wish things could have gone differently?
Before diving into creating goals for 2023, it's important to look back on 2022. Look back on what went well, what didn't go so well, your highs, and lows. Doing this will help you spot gaps in your knowledge and to create aligned business goals with actionable steps for 2023.

I recently attended an event run by Dr. Julie Luscombe entitled 'Boiling Frogs and Burning Out.' It was enlightening, and the best part was the part about looking at your circle of control. This was a concept I'd never heard of before, and after the talk, I went away and promptly forgot about it. Why? Because my head is just so full of content and to-do lists at the moment. But...this is a pivotal point of this episode...
You see, then yesterday came around, and the business overwhelm WAS REAL. There is so much going on, and while I'm incredibly grateful for being busy, the feeling made me reflect and go back to what I'd learned during Julie's talk.
So, in this episode, I reflect on being overwhelmed as a solopreneur and business owner, and how to deal with this overwhelm using the theory of the circle of control. It was a really useful exercise and I encourage anyone to consider the points that I go through if you're also feeling overwhelmed.

Whoop whoop! It feels like a long time coming (especially if you've been following me on Instagram!) but the podcast has finally got its rebrand!
Don't panic - all of the previous episodes and good stuff we have conversations about is staying. But, the more I recorded for this podcast, and the more feedback I got from my lovely listeners, I realised that the conversation was changing and focusing more on business topics than just online courses.
The online course topics will be staying - because including an online course in your business can increase revenue by up to 42% - now who wouldn't want a piece of that pie? But, we're also going to continue to focus on the wider business topics that people aren't talking enough about.
So all of those episodes that you love about the questions that you want to ask but are too afraid too? Or those episodes where we uncover and demystify seemingly complicated business talk? Yup; there's going to be a whole lot more of that!
I'm so excited for this rebrand - we've got some AMAZING guests lined up over the coming months, and I cannot believe that we're already looking at the 2023 content calendar!
As ever, thank you everyone for your continued support. Be sure to shout us out on Instagram and LinkedIn and let us know what you think of the rebrand!

When you start out in your business, you often have so many ideas as to how you want it to look and where you want to go. But, often, the further you get into your business, the more you might start to realise that your initial ideas, mission, vision, goals, etc start to change. This might be because you've outgrown your old product suite, or because you set up thinking you had to follow some sort of 'rules.'
But the truth is, that apart from the rules for all of the legal stuff, in your business, you make the rules. You write your own rulebook.
So, in this episode, I'm going to talk about my own journey of pivoting my brand and realigning my business based on my personality, my goals, my product suite, and my audience. I hope you find this useful and it gets you thinking about how you might want to switch things up in your business so that it feels more aligned with you and where you want to go.

Superfans are something that every brand wants. The people that recommend your services, products, and courses whenever someone has a problem. After all, the last time someone said they had a problem-solving X in their online business, think about who or what you immediately recommended. Most likely, it was a product, coach, or course you'd used yourself.
But creating that natural and loyal following isn't an overnight approach. It takes time. Time of cultivating relationships, right from the first impression. And we only ever get one chance to make a first impression, so it's crucial that we get it right - every single time.
In this episode, Matt Barnett of Bonjoro App joins us to talk about creating superfans and making a first impression which is natural and cultivates superfans down the road. He gives you actionable tips that you can implement today to help nurture your followers, clients, and customers and set them on the journey to championing your business well beyond the reach of ads and your own social media posts.

When you're working on your online business and creating an online course the overwhelm of the work you need to do is real. You might often find your to-do list feeling like a mountain you need to climb and that you need more than one of you to get everything done.
But it's having a clone of yourself ever really that useful in business.
In this episode, I'm joined by the wonderful Skye Barbour to discuss why having the mindset of wanting to clone yourself to get more done actually might be hampering your progress.

When working in the online space, it’s easy to get dragged into thinking that your goals need to be led by the metrics. Whether that’s how many people bought your last course, or how many likes your last Instagram post got; it can be overwhelming and exhausting. And being led by the metrics is also a sure-fire way to feel like you’re failing at your own business.
But what about if you set the goals for your online course and your online business around aims and objectives personal to you and your course or service, rather than around numbers?
How could that positively impact your business and your mindset?
In this episode, we are joined by Krista Marie from the She Calls Her Shots podcast to answer just that.
Krista explains how setting goals led by metrics can actually harm your business and your well-being. Instead, she gives us actionable tips and strategies for setting business goals which are achievable, personal, and achievable for you as an individual. Because you are an individual, and so is your online course, and your business.

In this episode, we meet with Agatha Brewer to discuss how you can create an intentional marketing strategy for your online course which is based on your personality and strengths.
The best marketing strategy for you won't be what's best for someone else. Depending on if we are an introvert, ambivert, or extrovert will determine which marketing strategies are best for us to use as individuals.
Agatha suggests ways to make your marketing strategy intentional, meaning that you hit the results you want rather than throwing together a strategy which won't work for you. She also gives key advice about how long to run with a strategy to analyse if it's working or not and what you might need to do if you aren't seeing the results you want.

In this episode, I will discuss imposter syndrome and my top tips for overcoming it.
When people are creating their own online courses, people have these thoughts of I'm not good enough, or I don't know enough, I don't have the expertise. I'm not a qualified teacher. I'm not qualified in that area of what I'm talking about. I don't have any qualifications. I'm a hobbyist, or it's just something that's interesting to me. And impostor syndrome is something that everybody feels it's something that if you talk to even the most successful people in your niche, or the most successful people in business, if you listen to them on podcasts, on TV, interviews, whatever, nearly everybody who I admire in the business world in the celebrity world, or whichever world you want to look in, nearly all of them has say that they have tackled impostor syndrome at some point in their careers, or they are still tackling impostor syndrome. And what I wanted to go through today in this episode is really hitting head on what is impostor syndrome?
And what can you do about it, particularly when it comes to creating an online course and teaching online. And I'm gonna go out on a bit of a limb here and say that I don't necessarily think that imposter syndrome is a bad thing, we get impostor syndrome, because we are pushed out of our comfort zone. And if we're pushed out of our comfort zone, then we're growing. And we're growing as people, as individuals, as creators, and as business owners. And without this growth, we might never explore new possibilities. And it might be easy to think that you won't create an online course because you aren't an expert.
But what if you did create that online course? What's the worst thing that's going to happen?

In this episode, we address the question which I get asked the most: 'Which Online Course Platform is the Best?'
In 2022, there are so many options out there, that it’s a case of choosing the best one to meet your needs. Because different platforms have got different features and fulfil different needs. It's not a case of picking the platform because that is what everybody uses, or it is the cheapest one, or it's got a free plan. It's about assessing which features that platform has, which features you need for your course and marrying that together. And yes, things like budget do come into it. But ultimately, there's no correct answer to which core course platform is the best.
Choosing an online course platform needs to be guided by your need and considerations of the following:
Essentially, from this episode, I want this to be your takeaway: The best course platform is whichever one has the features which fit your needs.
Choosing an online course platform needs to be based on what you need from it. This might mean that you don’t go for the platform or plan that ‘everyone’ seems to be using, but that’s ok.
You need to consider the features you need and want and let these guide your decision-making process.

In this episode, I'll discuss how to create an online course without video.
If content is king, then video is the throne holding the king up. Videos are used for a large number of online courses, but it isn't the only way to teach online.
That's why in this episode we look at text-only lessons and how teaching without video can be advantageous to you as the content creator and to your students.
