Nianell was born and raised in Omaruru, a small town in the Erongo Region of central Namibia. At the age of 6, she already sounded like an adult when she sang. With the help of her mother, she received a scholarship to study in South Africa. After completing her studies in Pretoria and performing in restaurants, pubs, and hotels for many years in order to stamp her mark in the local music industry, Nianell finally released her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Who Painted The Moon?’ in 2001.
The title track of the album ‘Who Painted The Moon?’ was also covered and released as a single by New Zealand Soprano Hayley Westerna, selling over 2 million copies, catapulting the Namibian-songstress to international recognition as a highly respected songwriter.
Back on South African soil, the album reached platinum status, drawing more attention to her angelic and heavenly voice. From captivating audiences in Germany, Ireland, Israel, India, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, Russia, Monata USA, New York and Southern Africa, to winning hearts down in Khayelitsha in Cape Town - Nianell has proved that she is a multi-talented force to be reckoned with. It was the release of her Platinum and two-time SAMA Award-Winning second album Angel Tongue, that she finally sealed the deal and manifested herself as a mainstay in the music industry.
Over the years, many multi-platinum albums, chart success, tours, best-selling books, awards, accolades, and even a live performance with Andrea Bocelli followed, but something was missing from her life. From the outside looking in, it would seem she had it all.
That she was flying high and living the ultimate dream. Nianell had a promising career, success, fame, fortune, a husband and she was a mother of triplets. But with deeply rooted issues with self-worth, loneliness, trauma and the sudden death of her beloved mother - she quickly found herself on a path of self-discovery and a deeper spiritual awakening in full bloom.
