  • How agents and clients perceive the home buying and selling process differently.

Our season 6 finale is here! Join us for powerful discussions about personal growth, the importance of self-awareness, and how we can better serve our clients in the real estate space.

We reflect on our recent experiences at a transformative conference, where we learned about effective communication and the impact of asking the right questions.

A skilled speaker challenged me to confront my personal goals, leading to a moment of vulnerability that was both uncomfortable and enlightening. This experience reminded me that true growth often comes from stepping outside our comfort zones and can lead to significant breakthroughs in our personal lives and careers.

One of our listeners shared an inspiring message that set the tone for our conversation about making a positive impact in our daily interactions. We discuss how knowing our own motivators and those of our clients can significantly enhance our communication and relationships.

We also touch on the current state of the real estate market, including the challenges of closing deals and the importance of setting realistic expectations with clients.

As we take a break for the summer and gear up for Season 7, I want to thank all our listeners and guests for being part of this incredible journey. We're excited to return with fresh perspectives and new topics after Labor Day.

Rise Up Nation, meet Shayla Deam!

The incredible Shayla Deam is a rock star performer from RE/MAX in Missouri. Shayla shares her perspective on the NAR proposed settlement and how it's impacting real estate professionals. She emphasizes the importance of presenting oneself in the best light and continuously improving to stand out in the industry.

Join us as Shayla discusses the opportunities for agents in this changing landscape and shares valuable insights on professionalism and growth in the real estate business. You don't want to miss this enlightening conversation with Shayla!

Shayla Deam is the Director of Strategic Growth with RE/MAX Heritage in Lee's Summit, Mo. Before relocating to Missouri, she was a Broker/Owner with RE/MAX Signature Properties. That's a lot of RE/MAX. When asked why she chose RE/MAX, she said, "RE/MAX has been ranked #1 for over a decade, so it made sense to be a part of something spectacular. In turn, my customers and agents can experience the same spectacular service from me".

A born and raised Kansas girl, Shayla has a diverse background, originally studying art therapy in Western Kansas before pursuing a career with the Judicial System and The Kansas Eighth Judicial District before she found her passion in real estate. Shayla's drive to help people was evident in her work with the courts, but the behind-the-scenes help made it harder to see her impact on the community. It was then that Shayla decided to move into real estate. Now, she absolutely loves the hands-on work of helping agents grow their businesses.

Given the artistic and entrepreneurial strengths of his mom and the analytic (engineering) qualities of his dad, he feels truly blessed to have the best of both worlds. After studying marketing and management at The Ohio State University and being unsatisfied with the corporate world, he decided to go into business for himself.

Real estate had long been an interest of his, so Tyler obtained his license in 2004 and within six months was named Listing Leader of the Beavercreek Sibcy Cline Office. A great opportunity was presented to Tyler to join a small independent firm, Valley Real Estate, where he took his real estate business to new heights and made the Ohio President’s Sales Club.

He now has offices in West Chester, Springboro, Centerville, Yellow Springs, and Troy. Though the business has changed, Tyler’s principles to provide agents and clients maximum value and support and the edge in technology have not.

Tyler has the support of his amazing and beautiful wife, Jessica, and their wonderful children, David, Layla, and Jameson.

In this episode, we dive deep into the world of content curation. Tyler shares his incredible insights and tips on curating valuable content that will keep your audience engaged and coming back for more. We also talk about the power of repurposing content, the power of AI (artificial intelligence), and some of Tyler’s crystal ball predictions in the real estate market.

We also discuss the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing discomfort as a catalyst for growth. Prepare to be inspired by stories of successful individuals like David Goggins, Gary Vaynerchuk, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk. Their journeys will motivate you to push boundaries and achieve greatness!

As always, we have some fantastic book recommendations for you. I know you'll love these three gems: Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller, The Four by Scott Galloway, and Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk. And we end on talking about how Chad rises up by focusing on gratitude and how that changes the way he thinks and looks at things in his daily life. Rise up nation, meet Adam Contos!

Adam used to run a SWAT team in his previous career. He would kick in doors, blow things up, save people.

Now, as the recently retired CEO of RE/MAX Holdings, Inc., his professional life is completely different. His approach, however, remains the same. His goal always is to break down barriers, blow up conventional thinking, and help as many people as possible achieve success.

It defines who Adam is as an entrepreneur. It was how he chose to lead RE/MAX, the top brand in real estate; Motto Franchising, the first national mortgage brokerage franchise in the U.S.; and booj, an award-winning real estate technology company. It’s why he chooses to start every day with a win—to create habits and build momentum while working toward better opportunities for those he serves.

In his experience, leadership is about mindset—about being a “we” rather than a “me.” It’s about knowing when to break the rules, why it’s important to challenge the status quo, and how to inspire others to achieve their own greatness.

When he first entered RE/MAX World Headquarters in 2003, he did so as an independent contractor. He had served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and with the Douglas County (Colorado) Sheriff’s Office. But he believed in creating the success he wanted. So he did.

Adam developed S.A.F.E.R, Safety Awareness for Every Realtor, and presented the training program across North America. It brought him to RE/MAX for nearly 20 years, where he served as CEO from 2018 to 2022.

If anything, Adam's career is proof there’s power in charting your own course by finding your North Star. In the Marines, he learned that there’s a better system for everything. In law enforcement, he learned to outsmart his opponent by changing his approach. In business, he's learned that small achievements add up to big accomplishments. It’s all contributed to who Adam is.

He's an Entrepreneur, A CEO, a Business School Professor, Father, Husband, and Coach. Sign up below to share business growth ideas with Adam.

In this episode, Adam shares with us that he does his calls, meetings and creative time in the mornings when he is at his sharpest. He also talks about the current interest rates and silent recession we are in, owning your results, and how writing something everyday is the key to keeping your commitments to yourself. He does a great job at giving tips and being a good motivator to help your life and business be successful!

Adam shares, “I build leaders and help businesses increase profitability. Since beginning my entrepreneurial ventures in the 1990's while I was a SWAT Commander in Law Enforcement to working my way up in a corporate and Public Company to CEO and Board Director, and now buying and growing businesses - I realize one thing. People matter! Without this realization, you cannot lead. When you don't lead, people end up defaulting to the minimum necessary, when we want employees and management to pursue MAXIMUM POSSIBLE! It's about raising the ceiling and helping our people get better every day. The studies have it correct - the number one thing that people want in a company is a culture that supports their growth and development. They want to get better and when we live this culture as leaders ourselves, our businesses grow and stakeholders all benefit - from employees, customers, and shareholders. Let's grow our leadership together - a mission I have dedicated myself to. And guess what? Everybody wins!”

Rise Up Nation, welcome back one of our guests from season 1, Pamela Krigbaum!

Pamela has called Myrtle Beach her home for the past 9 years after vacationing and wanting to live here since the 1980’s. A Kentucky girl by birth, she lived in Indiana for over 26 years. While in Indiana she began her career in Real Estate in 1989 where she learned not only how to help clients with their buying and selling needs but also began investing in rentals and flipping homes.

In the late 90’s, she moved to Macon, Georgia where she continued with her love of real estate by staging and remodeling homes. Still longing to be at the beach they moved to Florence, SC in 2008 where Pamela worked as the music director for The Brynes School. In 2013, Pamela’s dream finally became a reality when they became official residents of Horry County. She immediately knew she wanted to get back into real estate and in 2014 she began her career again as a realtor and broker in South Carolina.

In December of 2019, Pamela’s life took even another turn when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer but she feels her journey has been a blessing and has taught her what faith and determination can do. She is passionate about life and carries this over to her clients and colleagues. Pamela is so excited to take her career to the next level as part of the RE/MAX Southern Shores family.

In this special episode, you will get to hear from Pamela, who is simply a light of positivity, who is dealing with something really hard. Her example and her love for others and her faith in God is truly inspiring. I hope this episode is something that will help you feel like you can do hard things too and that Pamela’s energy will be something you take and share with others.

Hello Rise Up Nation!

How do you do your mid-year check up? It’s a great time of year to have some self reflection and see how you’re doing. The first thing I would suggest is to be able to do this you need to get some solitude. Find a way to be by yourself for just a couple hours within the next two weeks to really reflect. Try not to take your cellphone and really let yourself focus on the things you need to evaluate in your life and in your business.

In this episode, I go over 4 questions to ask yourself to really get a gauge of where you are in your life and how you are really feeling. Then we talk about how to evaluate and look at your business as well. Let’s get on it for the second half of the year!

Hello Rise Up Nation!

How many of you recently have spent time looking at your real estate stats? When you look at your results, it should give you helpful information! It will either give you leading or lagging indicators. Your leading indicators are your actual activities. Your lagging indicators are what my activities lead me to. The lagging indicators are good for record keeping, but also a good motivator.

In this episode, I talk about what these indicators mean for your business and how they can help you move forward. When you have a goal or vision for your life, your activities will change. Your results will improve. Years from now your results will be dependent on how you live. Focus on your activities versus focusing on results of activities.

Hello Rise Up Nation!

I wanted to start this episode with talking about mental health in honor of May Mental Health Awareness month. I want you to think about who you can reach out to and check in on or maybe you are in need of support right now. Together we can support and break the stigma around mental health.

The next part of the episode, I start off by telling you about my experience in the real estate business and how that has helped me learn about clients and what motivates them. I wanted to focus this week on how to get your client off the fence when it comes to deciding to buy or sell. When you think about sitting on a fence, it doesn’t sound comfortable. People sitting on the fence about their housing decisions are uncomfortable. So how do we help them? In this episode, we will break down the housing market and how we look at it, what factors keep people on the fence, and what we can do to help those who are unsure. I give you the secret sauce at the end, so stick around for the whole episode!

Wife, mother to twins & President/CEO of Amy Wienands Real Estate, Amy Wienands is no stranger to the real estate industry and creating impact.

For nearly three decades, Amy has been committed to creating an impact in her community and the growth of those around her, through the “vehicle of real estate.”

After 20 years as an independent agent, Amy took a leap of faith and started the Cedar Valley’s first team-centric real estate office - Amy Wienands Real Estate.

Amy and her team have been consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Teams in the Nation, and Iowa’s #1 team of REALTORS® for the past 8 years. Starting with a staff of just two in 2013, the team sits at more than 45 and continues to grow. Purpose & a servant heart lead her team to embody their slogan “Obsessively Working For You”

It’s not all real estate for Amy, though. Her biggest passion in this life is to help people live out their purpose. She knows she’s been put on this earth for “more” and is called to inspire, motivate, and leave a significant mark on this world.

She is the host of the You Are More Podcast, a place of revelation and encouragement for all, and a pillar of faith for many. Amy is a firm believer that hard work, principles of faith, and having the “pop-back” factor are the keys to success.

In this episode, Amy and I have a great discussion about how to help people around us be the best version of themselves and to get out of their own way with their limiting beliefs. We talk about the importance of opening up your mind and seeing how to change a pattern to be more aligned with what you want and where you want to go in life. We also talk about her super power to make strong connections with people, how her “walk and talk” morning routine sets her up for success, and her unexpected opportunity to speak and make an impact with a group of people across the world. This has been one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy this episode!

Hello Rise Up Nation!

Today is a special edition episode where I felt like I needed to talk about a current event. Have you heard about the bank closures in the news lately? I know some of you may or may not have thought about how this can affect our work in real estate. To be honest, I’m not coming to you today with answers, but my opinion and perspective on how to deal with these types of uncertainties.

The best thing for you to do for your clients is to be informed, calm, and confident. When these types of things happen in the world that are big news, there can tend to be a lot of fear and uncertainty. But it’s ok to be uncertain. Do the things that you do and know today.

When conflict or uncertainty happens, it always can lead to healthy discussion, curiosity and discovery. So have conversations with people in your circle. I don’t have the answers but I do want you to think how do the latest bank events affect you and how does it affect your actions and mindset? In uncertain times, leaders lead. Be that leader. Be confident for your clients. Take a listen to this episode for more insight. See my email below - I would love to hear your thoughts on this episode.

Hello Rise Up Nation!

This week’s episode is Part 2 from last week’s discussion on branding. In this episode, I go into more depth as to why branding matters when it comes to purchasing decisions. First, I discuss 10 reasons that brand matters. Then I dive into why it matters for YOU. I want you to take an honest look at why you personally brand yourself and why you choose to brand independently or maybe why you aren’t associated with a bigger brand yet. If anything, this episode will hopefully open your mind to asking yourself questions about what you want to be known for in your business and how branding can help. Remember the key to branding is recognition, trust, and quality.

I’ve decided to do a Part 3 on branding, but would love your input and thoughts. Please feel free to email me at riseupinrealestate@gmail.com.

Hello Rise Up Nation!

I recently noticed a trend amongst those that I know in my network and industry. I've heard a lot of them talking about brands and some joining brands. This got me thinking - why is branding so important? Why do we choose the types of brands we purchase such as food, cars, hotels, etc? In this episode, I discuss branding and why it’s important for your business. I also want you to take a minute to evaluate why you choose the brands that you do. I’m excited to open up this discussion for the next two weeks on the podcast.

Next week we jump into Let’s Talk Branding | Part 2 as we go more in depth into why we choose the brands that we do and how this all relates to real estate.

Rise Up Nation, meet our guest, Lori White!

Lori started her career as a real estate paralegal, then began working for a builder and a developer, managing their respective closing departments. In 2009, her life-long dream of selling real estate full-time finally came true, and she’s never looked back. Lori earned the ABR, SFR, SRES, RSPS, RENE, and CDPE designations, and her extensive background, skills, and training give her the edge required when representing both buyer and seller clients.

She was married to her high school sweetheart, Bill, for almost 38 years before sadly losing him earlier this year to a long illness. She has two amazing daughters, Kerri & Courtney, Kerri's wonderful husband, Brandon, and their adorable son Finn, and they are expecting a little girl this November. She shares her life and home with two doodles. Hope is a 5-year-old Goldendoodle, and Dempsey is a 4-year-old Irishdoodle.

In this episode, we chat about life, death, and a funny story (but not funny at the time) about what happened to her at an airport. Lori also shares what she does in her daily routine to Rise Up and a challenge I have for everyone to Rise Up in their own life, so be sure to listen to the end!

In today’s episode, I wanted to share with you some predictions I see for 2023 in the real estate market. Although I give some facts and info about the ups and downs of the market, I heard a good perspective recently about how we look at the market. We shouldn’t look at it as a good or bad market, just that it’s the market that we are in now. I want to help you get your mindset in the right place for the year.

I chat with you about getting yourself in a quiet place, the importance of getting your information in the right place, opinion versus facts, and how to have that “I’m gonna do what I can to make it great attitude!” Those who we will win will work hard, care about people and do the extra things. I hope that this episode helps you shift your mindset and get ready for what lies ahead this year!

Rise Up Nation - we are doing our first REPLAY of one of our first episodes. Many people connected with this guest and story so we decided to run it again before the holidays!

I cannot wait for you to listen to this episode as you hear some inspiring stories and life experience from a woman of many talents and who has been through a lot the last few years when it comes to her health. Her positive spirit and faith in God is contagious. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed chatting with Pam!

Meet our special guest Pamela Krigbaum!

Hey Rise Up Nation!

Today you get to hear from me and we dive deep quickly! I felt strongly to share this episode shortly after an experience I had chatting with someone about their life and where they’re going next with their career. I always think it’s good to ask ourselves questions and one of those most important questions being why? Why are you here? What is your purpose?

I know this sometimes is a hard question to answer. But if you believe that you were created by design, then you must have purpose. In this episode, I go through some questions and a couple of quick exercises you can do to help determine what it is you are good at and find out how to utilize those gifts to create a life or business that is truly something that you want. Take a listen. I would love to hear your takeaways. You can send them to the email listed below.

Craig and I talk a lot about his career background and how he got into real estate. Rise Up Nation, meet our guest Kristin Boullion!

Born in Durham, North Carolina, Kristin made her way to Myrtle Beach in May of 2007 after graduating from college at UNC-Wilmington where she received her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Film Studies & Sociology, which brought her to Myrtle Beach where she worked for the local FOX TV station (WFXB) as a producer for six years. During that time she also served as a judge for the 2010 Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolina Awards. Her time in television was followed by a brief stint as content & video producer at a local marketing firm where she honed the skills needed to help market & sell real estate.

In January of 2014 she was offered an opportunity that she couldn't resist: get her real estate license & partner with one of the most experienced & successful agents on the beach: Kirk Nobles, at RE/MAX Southern Shores. She began as an unlicensed assistant, then a licensed assistant, and then a buyers' agent. Kristin married her husband, Chris, in April of 2015. Two years later, they welcomed their first daughter: Herper, and Kristin decided to venture out on her own in the real estate industry. In May of 2019, Chris and Kristin's second daughter: Mabel was born and completed their family, along with their two dogs: Walker & Memphis. During her time with RE/MAX Southern Shores, Kristin has earned her way to Platinum Club and RE/MAX Hall of Fame.

On this episode we talk about the opportunity that led her to step into real estate, living by the coast and how she deals with hurricane season, and how going to the gym is one way she rises up. Kristin also talks about how business is like the “spaghetti sticking”. If you keep doing the right things, your hard work will pay off.

When it comes to being recruitable, I want you to ask yourselves these questions:

  1. What is their motive? Why are they calling?
  2. Why did they call YOU?
  3. What is their offering?
  4. What was your mindset just before the phone rang?
  5. What do you want to have an effective business?

When you listen to the episode, we will break each of these down and help you see why these are important to ask ourselves. It takes some humbling and being honest with ourselves, but it’s necessary for you to make change and be successful.

Our key idea of value is complete agent development. We want to help people live their most abundant life and build businesses that can lead to live the life they deserve to lead. The real change is inside and we want to provide the tools and techniques to help people learn where they are and where they want to be.

Rise Up Nation, meet our two guests Lindsay Benton and Marco Morales!

Lindsay Benton is a true native of South Carolina and grew up in Conway, SC. She relocated to the beautiful city of Charleston to attend COFC for a Bachelors in Business Administration. While in Charleston she was a wedding intern at Tiger Lily Florist, serving at the notorious Hominy Grill. She graduated in 2018 and immediately after took a solo volunteer trip to Antigua, Guatemala. After her trip, she worked in sales for Mercedes and sold timeshare for a bit but knew it wasn’t her calling and that’s when she found out about being a mortgage loan originator. She is ecstatic and grateful to be able to do something she truly loves day in and day out. She loves and gets so excited about helping each and every single one of her clients. When she was younger she never saw herself living in Myrtle Beach long term but the area is growing so rapidly that she can’t help but enjoy educating people on the area and all it has to offer!

Marco Morales has lived in Myrtle Beach since 2000. He moved there from Connecticut and began waiting tables and bartending at Planet Hollywood. The service industry was good to him, but it was quite time consuming, and you only made people happy for the day or night. And the schedule was a difficult one. When he worked in restaurants, he worked most holidays and the summer was the busy season. He decided he had enough. He got his real estate license in December of 2012. And now he makes people happy for a lifetime. (Hopefully)

In this episode, we have our first two guest podcast episode with a realtor and a mortgage loan originator. We chat about their thoughts on the current housing market, the amazing paths life takes you, and how to have a “can do” attitude that keeps you thriving in life and your business! We hope you enjoy this episode!

In this episode today, I wanted to share with you two things to NOT do. The first one is don’t live your life without an upper limit. Make goals. Have things you are working towards. The second one is don’t compare yourself to other people. Theordore Rosevelt said, “Comparison is the thief of joy”. The most important thing is figuring out what it is you want and then setting your own pace. Don't worry about where other people are at. What is it that you and your family need? What about your business? Focus on YOUR life.

My challenge to you after listening to this episode today would be to get out a piece of paper and write down what it is you really want in your life. Also answer the question, what does an abundant life mean to me? Reflection and writing down your thoughts will help give you direction in your life. It will help you in your business decisions and your personal life as well. I hope that doing this challenge will help you take an extra step to Rise Up!

Rise Up Nation, meet our special guest Pamela Krigbaum!

At Rise Up in Real Estate, we are on a quest!

We are looking for the "extra" in the ordinary.

We are on an honest search to try and discover what makes ordinary people extraordinary. We all are, in fact, so at Rise Up, we are going to dig and try and find it!

Exactly how can we be "extra" in our personal and professional lives?

In Season One of the Rise Up in Real Estate adventure, there will be a monthly rhythm...meaning each month will have four unique episodes.

In one episode, we will tackle a pressing current real estate industry thought. In another, we will chat with a local difference maker in the real estate space. For our third episode, we will host a respected national thought leader and finally, we will have a fourth bonus and surprise episode!

Along the way, you will laugh some, you will be challenged some, you will get inspired some and if we are lucky, maybe even figure out a way or two you can Rise Up in your own life and be the best human you can be!

Follow our Podcast and listen to more episodes.

Also, follow us at Rise Up in Real Estate on FB, IG and YouTube.
