When you think about the "Passover", that night in Egypt, when the blood on the door protected the Children of Israel from certain death and destroyed the first born of Egypt.
The blood was on the two side posts and overhead, but not underfoot. There have been many who have been saved, but because of their unbelief they have lost out with God.

Hebrews 11:7 says....
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” God's invitation to Noah, is like unto our invitation to the world and those we love, "Come in to the ark .." Come to Jesus and be saved!

A mighty oak tree is often referred to as the "gold standard" of strength and resistance to the forces of nature. One amazing fact about the oak is, that generally what you see above the ground is just a small sample of what is underground!
In this chapter of Romans, as in the two previous chapters the Apostle is dealing with the condition of Israel. They had ran their roots deep in the traditions of their forefathers, but had missed the purpose of the Law of Prophets. This purpose being to bring them Jesus and the New Covenant of God.
We have to root our lives in our Faith in Jesus.
