The Untouched Quest
Welcome to the world of The Untouched Quest, two Elfquest-loving girls. Elisabeth, a longtime Elfquest fan, and Siri, a girl who thought Elfquest was a videogame is reading, discussing, and questioning the comics, issue by issue. Follow this duo of one experienced elf and one untouched elf while they make their way tough this epic story. If you also are an untouched elf like Siri, Elfquest is a long-running fantasy fairytale, following Cutter's hero's journey and so much more.
The Wolfriders are still searching for their new holt, but while taking a break from that Ember asks Pike for a new howl. A howl she has never heard before, Ember is curious about recognition. Pike proceeds to Howl the tale of Hummer and Buckthorn, two young Wolfriders who grow up in rivalry. Everything they do turns into a competition, this goes on until they one day recognize. They recognize during a staring competition, which has lasted for days. Hummer and Buckthorn live on as soul mates and love mates, and they get two recognized children.
Back on their wolf friends' backs, the Wolfriders are yet again hunting for their new holt. After almost starving yet again, they arrive at Howling Rock. But it turns out someone else is living there, and not everyone is happy to get to know Teir. Ember decides to get to know him more and goes off to talk with him. In the end, Ember stands up to her chieftess role and decides that Howling Rock is their new holt for now.

Pike has for the last several days been hiding an animal friend, and not just any animal friend. It's the offspring of the tuftcat the tribe killed in the last episode. While holding a council to decide if the cub gets to stay or not, some Wolfriders start to hallucinate after they get stung by insects. Moonshade thinks she sees her daughter Cresent, so she is having a heart-to-heart with her. Ember uses this situation to her advantage to find out what's on Moonshades mind. In the end, when everyone is back to their sane minds Timmain approves of the cub and it gets to stay.
It is not safe to stay around insects that make them hallucinate unless they have been eating dreamberries so the Wolfriders are on the move again. In front of them is a land with little prey. While the Wolfriders are starving it seems like the wolfs are finding food for themselves. Turns out the ground is full of mice, and it's time to hunt some small predators. The hunt is successful and finally, the Wolfriders can feel the sensation of some full stomachs yet again.

Ember, the blood of eleven chiefs, is starting her journey as a chiefstess. It is hard for a young cub to find her place and style as a leader. Especially when she is one of the youngest in the tribe, and the elders are challenging her every move. Ember has to learn to lead, to count on her tribemates, and to play on all their strengths. Redlance can grow them a safe space to sleep for the night, and Monshade is a strong huntress.
In the new forest, Ember can feel traces of dark magic. Magic that originates from the black snake. One of her creations is attacking the Wolfriders. They have to be quick, and can they beat this monster the same way they did Madcoil? or do they need to cum up with a new plan? This is the first of Winnowills monsters the Wolfriders meet, but it will not be the last. Leetah's pep talk to Ember at the end of the issue is well-needed for some motivation for what lies ahead.

Shards is coming to an end. In this episode, we are tackling the last three issues in the Shards saga. Rayek is starting to run out of energy, and Winnowill is starting to get a grip on Rayek. Venka is calling on the Wolfriders, and when they arrive Venka and Strongbow take over for Rayek so he can take a break. Shuna gets the opportunity to avenge her mother.
Aroree reunites with Skywise and Timmain. They make their way back to the other elves. It is time to regather all the shard pieces, but Winnowill breaks free, she fights Timmain because she wants the power of the palace. But the Djun decides to kill the black snake, and Rayek decides to trap Winnowill's spirit inside his body.
In the epilogue, we see all the different elves' tribes reunite in the palace.

Sometimes the easiest is simply the best. Which is something Two-Edge teaches the elves. Do not get fooled by something being too easy. A more difficult passage might lead you straight back to where you started. Which is exactly what happens with the elves. We see the benefits of having several species in a group. Everyone can participate to make this passage easier and faster for everyone.

Rayek and Winnowill are playing a game of tag in the void, while on the outside, Venka is making a deal with the Djun. Cutter chooses to save Shuna from being ripped apart. A fight breaks loose as they are trying to get to safety. Shuna finally gets revenge on her mother. Yet again, the humans set fire to the tower where the shard seekers are hiding.
Several elves are trapped when the basement ceiling collapses. One elf is lost while we discover a new is on its way. The elves are not far from the palace pieces when they realize they are missing the key to putting the palace back together. Aroree is sent out on an important mission to retrieve a very important wolf.

Mender is still badly wounded, but Flam is not a light-hearted troll and has a rough way of shoving love. He slaps Mender awake so he can heal himself. Shuna's dad has noticed she is leading the rebellion. What will the Djun do to him if he finds this out? Venka needs to talk to her father and make a deal with the Djun. A deal Two-Edge is not happy about.
One by one, the troops arrive at the entrance to the Citadel. The piece-hounds are right behind them, and they manage to catch up with them before entering the Citadel. Fire breaks loose, one brave elf is fighting the piece-hounds in the fire.

Shuna has managed to gather some men to start a rebellion, but some of them are getting skeptical of her intentions when they realize she is a girl. Luckily for Shuna and the elves, she manages to convince them, and the rebellion is a fact. Even though the rebellion is a positive thing, it also makes it harder for the elves to make progress toward the palace pieces.
Strongbow is struggling to keep his two Go-Backs out of fights and trouble. Auroree is struggling to keep her troll and healer from fighting each other. A fight that started because Flam could not resist the smell of gold. Venka can no longer resist the urge to send for her dad. And Winnowill is finally shoving her true skin to the guards.
After many fights and some victories, we end this episode by leaving some human kids alone in a dark, dusty basement.

The piece hounds aka the monsters are let loose, but it turns out they are not as smart as we first assumed. They are hunting the elves, but the elves manage to escape, even the two elves left behind to distract the hounds manage to survive.
After Two-Edge's last game failed he created a new one. He really is the mastermind, but what is his endgame? Is he on anyone's side? Or is he again playing his own game for his own amusement?
At least Venka is safe and healing, and Rayekis looking for her. Two-Edge has really created a labyrinth. We see a tower, within a tower within a tower, which means he has a lot of space to cover to find Venka.

It turns out Ekuar has used almost all the energy in his body to create an escape for the elves. There is barely any left for his heart to beat. Without a rockshaper, the elves are forced above ground. The best magic users within the group decide to try to get the scrolls from a chamber within a chamber, in a tower within a tower.
They partly succeed, but only half of the magic users return to the rest of the group. One of the ones left behind is badly hurt and we do not know where to find her, but she is still alive.
Winnowill is forced to show her true skin to the Djun. Seeing other elves with stronger magic than his magicmaker, the Djun is getting afraid for his power. To make sure he is still the most powerful, he is making it illegal to believe that someone else than him is the most powerful.

Winnowill is enjoying her new position, she can do what she almost always has done, manipulating humans. And it is not just Winowill who is on the human side, Two Edge is also supporting the humans with his knowledge. They call him "The Master Architect". The master architect has given the humans a fantastic design to easily and fast destroy the forest where we find the elf's holt.
The elves are forced to flee yet again, but on the run, they make a big mistake which enables the humans to follow the elves on their run underground. While underground they stumble on the troll's cavern, the humans have never seen trolls so a fight breaks out. In the chaos, the elves manage to get away from the humans yet again. And this time they make no mistake.

It is time, we will finally get to know what the secret council was all about. And it is devastating. The tribe is going to be split into two separate tries, and who knows for how long? This means Cutter yet again will be separated from his family. Who will Ember choose to be in her tribe, and who stays with Cutter?
The humans are still trying to gather all the shards from the castle. They want all the pieces gathered as quickly as possible. This means Tyleet's human teacher is enslaved to help gather shards. Tyleet tries to free her teacher, but in the process, she manages to get captured by the same human that tried to imprison Leetah after the palace time travel.

It is finally time, it is time to learn the new human language. The Gotora humans are long gone, which means the elves need to learn how to communicate with the humans once again. Tyleet takes it upon herself to do so even though it means she is breaking the law of the Wolfriders.
By the looks of it, we might get a new cup in the tribe in a couple of years. Yes, someone recognized in this issue. And if you thought Winnowill was gone you better think twice, she has found a way to fraternize with the enemy, aka the humans.

We are back in the troll caves, it is the time right after Cutter and Rayek's big fight. Everyone is celebrating, drinking, and singing, but someone is gaining power over the palace. The palace is flying away, or at least trying to fly away, it ends up in thousands of pieces on the mountainside.
Yet again we are introduced to the humans, what are they up to? Will they steal the palace?
It looks like combining Leetah and Mender's powers is having a surprising effect on the tribe. Everyone is happy, and they are dancing a lot. While some of the elves are dancing in the river Cutter is out hunting, but instead of binging a prey home, Cutter finds himself a new Woolf friend.

It is vacation time, and because we are taking a summer break we decided to give you a summer special.
Since we just finished all the Dreamtime issues we thought it would be fun to interpret all the dreams the elves who slept the long sleep had. We got ourselves a dream dictionary, found some symbols in each and every dream, and started to see if it all had a bigger meaning.
This was all just for fun and it has nothing to do with the main story of Elfquest. We just happened to have a dream dictionary on hand and while reading all about the dreams we wanted to see if there actually lined up. Let us know what you think about our interpretations of the dreams.

Continuing where we left off in the last episode, it is finally time to take a look at the second half of Wolfrider. When we left Joyleaf and Bearclaw last week they had made a baby. This week we will finally meet Cutter the hero and one of the main protagonists of the story. We start the journey with the cute little elves from the Elfquest comics by reading Wolfrider. Elisabeth has always looked at Wolfrider as the beginning of the story, so that's where we are starting off this podcast too.
