MEMPHIS TN (IFS) -- The European promotion's company PromoBuzz/AirplayBuzz and SDC OmniMedia Group's Digital Radio Networks, appears to have pulled the plug on each other, as a total war exists between the two when it comes to requesting "extra material" from the artists. PromoBuzz considered SDC Digital's request "as too much" and SDC's request was noted as "Spam" to the artist's they have submitted to SDC Digital.
PromoBuzz's accusations of "Spam" toward SDC Digital several days ago exploded into a mass riff in communications, as CEO/President Kenneth Howard Smith requested that they call him, and PromoBuzz decided they did not want to talk and explain their position which could have been worked out. However, PromoBuzz believes that their position is much more superior and domainate then the 60 year old's SDC Digital Radio Networks.
As PromoBuzz attempts to open up it's distribution marketing for their artists in the United States, it was a perfect situation with SDC Digital's mass promotion between it's much weighted radio stations that have helped artists earned several Grammys, Oscars and Emmys in the United States in 2013 and 2014.

In other news, the Beat Buddy Guitar Pedal has released the video I made for them on Youtube! Last month they put it up on their facebook page and it got over 1,000 likes. I am working on more pedal demos at the moment so stay tuned for those. The Beat Buddy is a Drum Machine Pedal I use for songwriting, and practicing guitar. This year I have also been playing at a lot of flea markets and farmer's markets in LA including the Melrose Trading Post, Altadena Farmer's Market, and So Cal Etsy Guild and I have caught the attention of an online magazine called Roots Revival Co! The magazine features small businesses, artists, musicians, and handmade crafts! With that said, I have an idea to start a blog on my website about my experience street performing. It will include info about where to busk, how to set up, what to bring, what songs to play, and what gear to buy!

Bonnie Paul - The KDTN Radio One Special Mix CD
Bonnie Paul, the actress/singer/ writer has just released her latest single, Me and You, which is as sensitive as it comes. Bonnie handles ballads like this expertly and as well as pleasing Country music fans this is a song which is likely to cross over to mainstream markets and with a promised video to back it up this could be the really big hit that everyone is expecting from her.
Bonnie has toured with Johnny Rodriquez, co wrote Childhood Sweethearts with Randy Travis.

Calgary’s indie/folk duo Georgia Sound announces their return to the music scene with the release of their single ‘Love Can Change’ to be followed up by their first full-length album in mid-October. Georgia Sound, also known as Ryan Roy and Shannon Magee, are the Calgary based duo that have been stirring things up in the music industry since a chance meeting at a local open-mic night in 2011.
Almost immediately after, they began crafting songs and arrangements, releasing their debut five song EP ‘One Way Path’. Those five magical songs won the hearts of Calgarian’s and music enthusiasts alike quickly becoming one of the city’s most anticipated new artists. The two have been working tirelessly for the past year, self-financing their album but refusing to compromise on the quality. Both have taken on part-time jobs in addition to their full time ones, all while still finding time to perform and record exactly what they want to deliver, an exceptional album.
The album (of the same name) is a representation of the precision and detail oriented sounds of classically trained musician (Magee), blended with just the right amount of edge from self-taught guitarist Roy. On the technical side of things, they enlisted the help of former Los Angeles based producer Steve Dierkens and his team of professional musicians at Studio D (in Calgary). It is polished, passionate and evidence that Roy and Magee are fully committed to their musical career and are more than ready to take it to the next level.
For the release of the single ‘Love Can Change’ the duo has partnered up with local music start-up Muzooka.
The Island’s first Couple of Cinematography, Nadine Vaughan and Rick Traum were at it again when local contemporary gospel duo Joey Daddario and Jeanie Scheff decided to produce a real professional music video for their latest album’s title track “I Grew Up On Gospel” and retained the award winning talents of Executive Director Dave D’Ardenne, who in turn approached Nadine Vaughan to head up the production team as Producer, Writer, Casting Director and Costumes and Don Flynnas Director Photography.
Nadine’s script “The Gospel Train” called for a 1950s period setting in an active train station setting with a real life locomotive, which is why Fernandina Beach would not qualify for location selection and therefor the crew and cast of some 25 in total took a three hour bus ride south to Tavares Florida where the perfect setting was available.

The only thing known for certain about the 1960s Girl Group known as The Ribbons (Arthetta Givan, Lovie Kinchion, Evelyn Doty and Vessie Simmons) is that they had one nationally charting single in February 1963 and that was the # 81 Billboard Pop Hot 100 Ain't Gonna Kiss Ya, written by James Marcus Smith (better known as P.J. Proby), and which was produced by Marshall Lieb and distributed on the tiny Los Angeles-based Marsh M-202 b/w My Baby Said.

Ingersoll discusses how the new recording artists of today are going back to the old ways of analog recording and producing their music on vinyl. They call the CD an anique, just like our grandparents old 78 RPMs. However, old recording artist as well as the new ones are using old techniques to record new songs with the sounds of the 1930's equipment. It's a radical way to make recordings and they are getting major airplay on all media types.

They had recorded this album called "Wipe out", surf music and stuff. The Beatles had been in the United States for almost two months now, and the Beach Boys were right up there with them. "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris was going to the top of the charts, and Merrell was telling everyone that he had wrote this song. Well, no one believed him at all. I just happened to be shopping at a local Woolworth store, and they had just received a bend full of cut-out records, and sure enough, there were ten albums from this group the Impacts on Del-Fi Records, and there was Merrell Wayne Fankhauser's name as big as life."

In the last days of the final cut for the movie "Coolly High", the theme song plays the most part of setting the movie's mood and the course of action. The singer is the next most important person to a film's projection of the action. In this case the singer was GC Cameron of the Spinners. He was the lead singer of both songs. The two finalists were 'It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" and the current champion "The Night Before".
"The Night Before" was written and produced by RG Ingersoll and Lee Rogers. The other one, it doesn't matter for this story.

Carla Weston heads 1960's Antelope Valley Band Reunion at Hilton Gardens in Palmdale CA Starting July 19, 2014
ARROYO GRANDE CA (IFS) -- +Merrell Fankhauser reports that a reunion of all the bands of the Antelope Valley from the 1960's will be getting together for a big night of partying, singing and just a good old time to remember. The event is being lead by +Carla Weston, the daughter of Country Music's legendary great +George Weston on July 19, 2014 at the +Palmdale Hilton Hotel in Palmdale, California.
George Weston stands in this black-and-white photograph. While never finding a place in rockabilly stardom, Weston is remembered for a guitar prowess that was featured on the shows "Hee Haw," "The Grand Ole Opry" and "American Bandstand."

When the Sound of the Motor City is more than a song and the titles and lyrics are coded love messages. Berry Gordy, Jr., and Michael Alonzo Hanks were once great friends and worked for the Chrysler Company together. After works they would "hangout" with each other and write songs. One of the girls that they both loved and also wrote songs with them was Mary Wells. A very bitter dispute comes up and Mary goes with Berry to Motown, leaving Mike disponded. Mary has her titles on the songs which are crafted by the songwriting team, but clearly the messages are to Mike, that she still cares for him.

PURPLE OLIVE
In the summer of 1969, I got a chance to play at the Hollywood Teen Fair with my band Purple Olive. I was hell bend on taking Purple Olive to the big time.
Mary Beth Broderson was our photographer. We wanted to document that we actually played at the fair. We were scheduled to play at the Kustom Amplifier Booth just out side of the main stage, but our time had come and gone. There were five bands still in front of us waiting to play. The people who came to audition us had left hours ago and we were just standing around – waiting.
Several other bands were standing in line with us to play in the Kustom's Electronics booth. Kustom was the leading manufacturer of electronic equipment for musicians. We had to wait for about three hours before we got a chance to go on stage.
Talking to the band director, I had enough of the waiting, and I was getting tired of this. Lynn and I confronted the director, and we told him that we had traveled along way to get here and play, and as it was stated in our contract, we were several hours overdue and what was he going to do about it.
THE CLOUDS (WHEN THAT WAY)
The 1965 Hollywood Teen Fair was the year that Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss of A&M Records discovered Captain Beefheart and signed him to the label. I was there as a “roadie” with the Magic Band. Their first release was “Diddy Wah Diddy”. The exact same recording that I had heard at Rohr’s Music Box.
The Martinkovics is the real American family. They have to sons, Paul the eldest plays lead guitar, and John who plays the bass. The two brothers practice at least two to four hours everyday, then there’s band practice. The new group is called The Telstars.
Meticulous to details, Paul listens to the Jimi Hendrix track of Foxy Lady. Paul will go over this song more then fifty times, turning the grooves of the album white as he plays his guitar up against Hendrix. He gets its down to the exact lick and sound. Then on to the next song.
There’s a gig coming up in two weeks and the band has to learn ten more new songs before the date.
Air Force Warrant Officer Martinkovic is retiring in two years. He is the last of the Warrant Officers in the Air Force. Mister Martinkovic has traveled with his family all over the world. He is stationed at Edwards Air Force Base and is the assistant director of the new YF-12 project.

What was very interesting -- our local radio station in the desert, KUTY's range could be picked up in North Hollywood very clear. And with my frequent appearances on the radio station I became somewhat of an icon there -- to some others -- disbelief.
Don Podolor's first time meeting was with me in the halls of Antelope Valley College, and he brought with him some exciting acts that he represented.
We became fast friends, and we wheeled and dealed like no others before or since. My first group to please the crowds was Eric Burton and the Animals, followed by Iron Butterfly.
Don wanted to "showcase" Rick Nelson. He was had just put out his first recording in almost five years. His new record was called Garden Party and we did not even know one station that was playing this record at all. After a long discussion with my council members they gave me the go ago I needed to sign Rick Nelson for this show. Sue O'Connor gave me the okay, and she signed the contract.
It was Country and Western and possibly across over at best. The word Country Rock had yet to be invented. I was given 100 singles in a box from Decca Records, and was asked to see what in the world I could do with it.

The D-Town Records Classics Show starts off with the DJ and microphone man Kenny Smith demostrating his songwriting skills over the years with two of his compositions from 1966 and 1976. The show progresses with his Motown songwiriting and producer partner RG Ingersoll and a couple of samples from the Motown days. Other productions of note include Emmy Award Winner Ms. Bernadette Bascom's "Body Freaks" from Smith's Seattle production days, and ending the first show with Lee Rogers' production of Dee Edwards "A Girl Can't Go By What She Hears". It's a classic show of building from the top down. In the old days, it was the DJ that was a "wannabe" artist that didn't have the "chops" or could not stand the criticism of being a recording artist. Since these songs are classics and have proven themselves time and time again, it's no need to judge them, they speak for themselves. Nevertheless, it is in times like these, when one asks if you still have the "chops" to record a smash hit? As RG Ingersoll would put, "Hey Luke? How's your hammer hanging? STEVIE JEWEL --I attended a Theatre magnet school for high school. I took music theory and, although, I started writing songs when I was maybe seven years old, I credit this teacher for helping me jump-start into songwriting. I studied “Garage Band” and now use “Logic”. I have gathered a serious collection of recording gear and am always upgrading my equipment. Frankly, I’ve always heard the melodies in my head, sometimes the lyrics are there at the same time, but occasionally, the lyrics come in a little later. My best pieces are created in a fifteen minute window. The songs that I have to struggle with or suitcase for a while and revisit, never seem “finished”. It seems that we have always had a piano in the house, so it’s been a natural for me to sit and write at the piano. Lately, we have moved and I haven’t had a piano around so, in conjunction with taking vocal lessons with Jan Smith, I asked her to show me some chords etc. on the guitar. It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of it, but I am a Type A and didn’t quit until I felt semi-comfortable on the guitar. I’m not ready to rock a show, but it helps me write. I wrote a song “One Last Kiss (Seal the Deal)” and in 2008, it rose to #24 on Billboard’s Dance Chart. I performed this at a variety of places around LA and Vegas. And have done performed this song for some charity work also. I didn’t do a lot to promote the songs - I didn’t tour - the rise on the Billboard Charts just happened. I have played a lot of the casinos in Vegas and a couple of sold out shows in LA, I've even sung at the White House....yep, that White House!

During the years that Billy was off in the Marine Corps, I started my first year of junior high school. I was still in the school marching band, and was looking for something more.
Around the last of the school year, the Antelope Valley Fair was the biggest thing in the desert for each and every town around there. It was the first time I had the chance to experience a "battle of the bands" contests. These guys were good.
One band did not have to complete in the competition, they were already starting to become hot recording artists. Merrell and the Exiles. These guys were very slick. Hot jackets, hot new looking guitars, and loud amplifiers that dug deep into your body. I remember this guy, the leader of the group thanking everyone that had brought their new single "Please Be Mind", and they started playing the tune. My ears peaked, I was in shock... as I said to myself, hey, I've heard that song on the radio a lot of times. And that's the band. Man, the girls were going crazy. They started to over-run the stage, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department made a run for the stage, the same time this girls did, and Merrell and the Exiles keep right on rocking down the house.
What made this music different -- well it was the amplifiers. It was kind of country, it was kind of rock 'n' roll, and it was kind of Rhythm & Blues, it was Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Ricky Nelson, Freddy Hart, Patsy Cline -- thing ... it was different. And this was before the Beatles!!
Kenneth Howard Smith's - VINYL KNIGHTS - Chapter One I’D RATHER GO BLIND If I have any musical blood at all in my body, I have to blame it on my mother. Rillie Louise Sellers-Smith started the whole thing. She is the one that carried me in her wound while she played and sing at church and those social functions. Yes, the music is in me. I clearly remember at the age of five years old, playing with my parent’s record collection. Those old 78RPM records, very heavy, non-breakable, scratch resisted, and the Columbia Records label all over them. I liked those heavy vinyl disks that played at an incredible high speed, as I watched the off-centered label spin madly from its apex and to its apogee, and back again. From right then and there, I wanted to make one of those things. That larger then life black and round thing, with all those circles on it, that mysteriously makes music and sounds. As a young musician, or a "wantabe" musician, I have always dreamed and prayed that someday that I could get a chance to record just one 45-RPM single record. Believe it or not that was my only pray. I was just a pup when I prayed that pray. Boy was I crazy or what?

As SDC Radio Networks attempted to re-align it's music stations this past year, we noticed that the audience shift included "Old School" music, with the likes of the Dynamic Superiors, the Originals, early Etta James, Memphis' Ruth Wilson and Carla Thomas. More indie music dominated the playlists coming from Sweden, England, Australia and Russia. The combined SDC radio playlist consists of over 768 songs and artists, with over forty (40%) of the songs in the world's top 50,000 songs.
The album title is likely taken from the Pink Floyd cover song Maines recently recorded for the soundtrack album of the documentary “West of Memphis: Voices for Justice,” which hits stores Jan. 15. The film tells the story of three teenagers, dubbed the West Memphis Three, who were convicted of murdering three 8-year-old children and spent 18 years in prison while supporters protested their innocence. A portion of the album’s proceeds directly benefit the West Memphis Three. Louisiana meteorologist Rhonda Lee defended her short hair after being insulted on Facebook, only to be fired ... and receive a groundswell of support online.
A viewer took Lee, of Shreveport's KTBS, to task October 1 for having short hair, rather than for any job-related issues. Lee, 37, responded in the comments.
Instead of backing her up or deleting the offensive post, however, the network fired Lee, saying she had violated the company's unofficial social media policy.
Now, her fans are furious.
Kenny Smith "Rant and Rave" about the Shelby County Election Commission in The Media In Review Show. He believes they are behaving badly. Smith explains that he is new in town, and therefore have no previous voting record in the county. What does that have to do with him registering to vote? Spike Smith Wrote on Mr. Dillon's Blog: A million bucks, well 1.35 million. That’s a flat out insult. 27 years for a crime he did not do and has lost 27 years of his life with family and everyone else. You can make more then that living on disabilty for 27 years an almost unemployment. What a discrace, I only hope he has other avenues to follow as the DA, Police Dept, Judge, but heck they’re never wrong, and the state. 1.35 million, humiliation at it’s best for the NOT GUILTY. Wish you the best and hope there are other avenues you can take to get what 27 years in prison for a crime YOU DID NOT COMMIT.

I don't believe that Fox is a news company, but a marketing tool for Rupert Murdock and his hating organization. A treaty had been signed in Washington and a reservation set up at Sand Creek. Water was an issue then and water is an issue now. There just isn’t enough of it. So where is the tie in between Indians, railroads and an ever expanding population? As far as the abandoned railroad line goes the tie in lies in chemistry. The word to ponder is alkali. Put two and two together and one comes up with a problem. Alkali and trains don’t mix. Once upon a time, trains needed water to function properly. So in the early days of the 1950’s this line was removed from active service. However, checking through the registry of abandoned rail lines, this line that stretches from Pueblo to Missouri was not listed. I love a mystery so that’s what prompted Ken and me to make another trip out to Eads. We decided to follow the line as far as Missouri, if necessary, to find out why. We really didn’t have to travel far from Sheridan Lake. In the town of Brandon which is situated just minutes from the Kansas border we came upon dozens of rusting rail cars. The graffiti which covers their sides does nothing to improve their appearance. The mystery was solved. These abandon tracks have now become the parking lot for countless derelict cars. As a result this line is not considered abandoned. Eye sore aside, I need to stick to the subject at hand which is water. However, as I see it the problem is environmental. Rotting wood, rusting metal and whatever when mixed with rain water makes for an unhealthy cocktail. To add to the problem, this part of the world has an overabundance of natural minerals in its water table. Let’s take a closer look at water. As I see it, a diminishing resource up against an increased demand for this finite resource could lead to murder.

Although this is Riley's first single, she is no stranger to the entertainment industry! When she was little she sang country with her first guitar. After years of thinking she wasn't supposed to sing country...she came back to where she started and couldn't be happier!

Kenny Smith was just starting to learn about songwriting, and the local radio stations in the Antelope Valley played the local artist music and was behind them 100 percent. it was a different time in the music business in the deserts of Southern California.
What do you do when you can't get high? Walk, walk, walk around. What do you do when your plants all
die? Walk, walk, walk around. It was about as bad as that -- when the guy Lee Rogers and Kenny Smith
met with the brand new electric pencil sharpner and his two telephone line office, and no furniture. It
did not take us to long to take over his office and the electric pencil sharpner, and we got the
furniture to put in it.
Goldmine Magazine had just signed an exclusive contract to interview Lee and we took that money and open
up a small office on Berendo Drive in Hollywood, CA. With some major and minor successes with Claridge
Records and Lee's last days at Motown, we found ourselves with the pencil sharpner and the office.
Kay Saunders-Palmer, our manager had purchased for the office our first computer. The craziest thing is
that back in 1969, Mary Beth Broderson's mother, gave Smith, Mary Beth's old computer programming
college books, after she left school to get married.
Smith studied these books and upon entering the Air Force, this became his secondary skill as a computer
programmer in the Air Force during the Vietnam war.
Smith quickly put his skill sets together to produce some software programs for the marketplace to help
finance the Platinum Sound - D-Town Records project.

I Promised Too Remember, the Toni Ventura Video Book from SDC OmniMedia Television in 1992, with Kenny Smith interviewing Ms. Ventura about the rise and fall of the first rock and roll superstar of the modern era - Frankie Lymon. At the age of 13 years old, he performed for the Queen of England and many other great heads of state. As the hit recordings got fewer and longer in between, the drugs, the women, the long lonely road to make a come back, just to get to even. On the radio show, you will hear the voices of Alan Freed, Dick Clark, Jacko Henderson, Jimmy Merchant, Richard Barrett, Ed Sullivan, Lewis Lymon, Jimmy Castor, Bobby Jay, Sam Bray, Sam Riddle, Herman Santigao, just to name a very few. Taped in Denver Colorado for the Denver Community channel, but later picked up by PBS for airing later that year.
