IcedCool is a longtime core contributor at BanklessDAO and has been with BanklessDAO since its inception over two years ago. Iced has contributed in multiple areas including the Developer Guild and Operations, as well as Treasury & Tokenomics.

Today’s guest is Ed On, aka jackalpha in Discord. Ed studied civil engineering, so he’s a bridge builder in the literal and metaphorical sense. Just prior to getting into web3, he worked as a web2 product manager at Samsung.
Ed is on the core team at Bankless Japan, part of the IMN or International Media Nodes at BanklessDAO. He also works on WonderVerse.xyz and WonderCommunities.com. Wonder builds the WonderVerse, which is collaboration tooling for web3 communities to manage projects, proposals, and grants seamlessly in one place.
A few months ago he co-presented with Yuki_xyz during BUIDL week, a hackathon at EthDenver in Colorado. And he was recently in Japan, attending DAO Tokyo and EthTokyo where he met up with fellow DAO contributors, including a few of our Bankless frens.

A couple of notes before we jump into the episode: Our conversation was recorded in December 2022 so a couple of relative date references are off. Also since then, Salman has launched an “India Blockchain Week” series on his own channel covering various web3 topics over a number of interviews at ETH India, as well as adjacent events that took place in the city of Bangalore.
He has also completed the DAO Punks cohort that we discuss in this episode, launched his Juicebox campaign, and has since been selected as one of the community grant recipients on DAO Drops, a first-of-its-kind retroactive public goods funding initiative by dOrg and the Ethereum Foundation.

Today’s guests are Samantha Marin and Brandon Nolte of Quorum. Sam and Brandon met over a year ago through BanklessDAO, and quickly developed a rapport. They have since joined forces to form Quorum.
Sam is part of the communications and growth team for Aragon, a framework for on-chain DAOs. She started her DAO journey in BanklessDAO as the talent scout for the Writers Guild. She started the Quorum newsletter in March and recently expanded it into a “metalabel” to include a podcast as well.
Brandon is a serial entrepreneur and hosts the Quorum podcast, formerly Bounty Hunter. Quorum is a weekly show about what it’s like to work in Web3 and DAOs, interviewing community builders, DAO contributors, and the best innovators in Web3.

Orange is a reputation and trust minting protocol that aggregates data and Web3 reputation models to generate comprehensive reputation proofs in the form of Verifiable Credentials and NFTs.
It can be used to objectively calculate and assess the "reputation" for a Decentralized Identifier (DID), and associated wallet addresses. It takes multiple data points into account to assess user behavior and preferences.
User data can be processed and manifested as "minted reputation" to be stored, exchanged, and used in different forms, such as Verifiable Credentials (VCs), or NFTs.

Lanz believes everyone should have a right to share their story. She speaks about her journey into the NFT space as a newbie. Lanz recalls that she got introduced into the space by a friend who is a photo-journalist, documenting the stories about the migrant worker community. Understanding the passion and zeal which many migrant workers put in to create the future they want for themselves, she believes their stories are worth telling. Lanz aims to use this medium to disrupt stereotypes often assumed about the migrant worker community and to provide a global audience for them to tell their stories.
(6:03) The drive behind the passionLanz narrates a truly inspirational story of a migrant worker whom she works with. Lanz remarks how truly inspiring it is that the persons in these communities are able to keep on creating despite having to work long hours, and in many cases, under strenuous conditions. Lanz mentions the use of NFTs as a bridge to connect persons in these communities to the rest of the world; first by educating them, and then, bringing them on stage to a global audience.
(12:28) Raising funds for the causeAll good projects require funding to thrive. Lanz cites that the project has met the criteria to be included in funding through Gitcoin Grant donation and the NF DAO, which has been useful in covering necessary costs of running the project. Lanz commends the Gitcoin quadratic funding mechanism and cites it as a system that intentionally seeks to promote projects and initiatives that intend the most good. Lanz re-states the potential of the project to be much more than it already is and makes a call to persons who are inspired by the project to join in and grow the community.
(17:45) On the global migrant communityThe struggles of migrants again reiterates, citing challenging working conditions and the strain associated with sending remittances back to their families in their home countries. Lanz states the need to amplify the voices of the people in this community by getting to understand them on a personal level and mapping out ways to support them. She mentions efforts to reach out to creatives in many migrant worker communities across many countries, in an effort to build a strong community.
(24:26) Room for involvement and participationThe Migrants NFT project will be participating in the NFT NYC event scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of June 2022 at the Rug Radio gallery and SuperChief gallery where they intend to showcase their collection from the two projects they have launched so far, the Foundation Work/Life and Forever Dream projects. Lanz again makes the call for involvement by contributors who believe in, and want to be a part of the project.
