Trailview Church exists to make disciples who delight in Jesus. These are the weekly sermons of our Sunday Gatherings.
The world is constantly putting forward unhealthy conflict tactics. God gives us the most beautiful picture of conflict resolution in the Gospel and healthy conflict resolution is essential for the advance of the gospel.
Don't believe the lie that satisfying the inner desires of the flesh will bring you joy and fulfillment. The better life is when we pursue Christ and keep our eyes on eternity.
In John 7 Jesus invites thirsty souls to come
to Him to be satisfied. In addition, Jesus promises that everyone who believes in Him will have abundant, everflowing rivers in their hearts. These rivers are the Holy Spirit.

In the Gospel, Jesus takes the place of the guilty and the guilty go free. In Mark 15:1-15 there is a great injustice against Jesus when Barabbas is set free and Jesus takes his place in prison and on the cross. In this scandalous of story of injustice we see the story of grace. We are Barabbas and Jesus takes our guilt and give us his innocence.
The gathering of the church is essential for your spiritual health. This week as we conclude our first 4 weeks looking at the spiritual disciplines. You need the weekly gathering of the church and the church needs you in the weekly gathering.
The delight our souls long for is found only in God. Over these first four weeks of 2024 we are walking through the spiritual disciplines as the means of putting ourselves in the pathway of delight through intimacy with God. We hope you are encouraged by this week's sermon on prayer as the pathway into intimacy with God.
Through the story of Rahab hiding the spies in Joshua 2, we see how to follow the Lord with faith even through moments of life that cause fear to rise up within us. We hope this sermon helps you to see how we can have faith in the Lord through all circumstances in life.
In the Story of Redemption we find the Israelites rejecting God as their king and asking for a human king. We too have rejected God as king. Deep within us, we all long for a better king. God planned and provided the king our hearts long for in the baby in the manger at Christmas.
As the story of redemption unfolds, it focuses on one family, the family of Abraham. This family grows into a large nation but find themselves in Egypt as slaves. But God brought them out of slavery by the blood of a spotless lamb. All of this points forward, to the Advent of the Savior, who was the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
The Story of Redemption begins in Genesis 1 with God creating everything good, reflecting his own character and nature. The good of creation is short lived as sin enters in. Mankind is enslaved to sin and in need of redemption. Even in the dawn of sin, God promised to provide a redeemer. As we look forward to Christmas, the baby we celebrate in the manger is the promised redeemer.
Disciples of Jesus fail and sin against the Lord. The Mark of a disciple is what they do when they sin. Disciples of Jesus; feel the weight of their sin, confess their sin, remember the gospel, and walk in repentance.
Listen along with us today as Pastor Derek walks us through the terrible time of the betrayal of Jesus. Even during this hard time we have a wonderful example of how to respond in difficult moments. Sometimes we flee, sometimes we fly or we can follow Jesus' example and walk by faith through the toughest times of life.
Entering into the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus is bearing and feeling the weight of exactly what is awaiting just before him. Knowing that he is about to be arrested , beaten, crucified and ultimately killed on the cross; Jesus gives us the example of what we are to do in moments like this. What a gift for us that we have in the Bible. There are many examples for us to grasp and follow, and here in Mark 14 we have a wonderful example of what it looks like for us to give our whole in love back to Jesus. Listen along with us this week as we hear from Pastor Brandon in Mark 14:1-11
As the story of the Gospel of Mark continues we see the prophecy from Jesus about the destruction of the temple. This is a difficult and often miss-interpreted passage of scripture that deserves our attention. What these prophecies reveals to us at large is that we can trust God with the future of our lives and need not grow alarmed.
Have you ever wondered which example is the right example to follow? In Mark 12:38-44 we have a wonderful example of what type of faith behaviors are actually the type that pleases the Lord. In today's message Jesus shows us a comparison between the rich scribes and a poor widow in how they bring their offerings to the Lord. May the Lord give us ears and hearts to hear and learn. As the story continues Jesus is asked the questions what command is most important for the people of God. Jesus reveals to him that God's biggest priorities for God's people is their love, their all encompassing love for God and their love for their neighbors.
When Jesus is questioned he always has the perfect answer. But what does Jesus have to say when some other religious elites try to trick him with a ridiculous question? Listen along with us this week as we hear from Pastor Brandon walk us through Mark 12:18-17.

In an attempt to trick Jesus up they proposed a very big issue that was actually not even an issue at all. Sometimes the world and sometimes we even try to make small issues the main issues. Jesus' entry to Jerusalem was certainly not what most would have been expecting. However, his entrance was exactly what it was supposed to be. God has established his majesty in the Heavens and the Earth. He has created all that is and yet still has perfect huge love to broken and weak people. When you think about how seriously you take your own sin. . . . how does that play out for you? Most likely we are all over the place when it comes to our awareness and response to our own sin, thankfully David does not hold back in his struggle of this. So where do we turn in our seriousness about or own sin. . . well we, much like David, turn to our Father. A Father who graciously awaits our turning back to him. God's presence is a blessing to all who enter it. Psalm 84 welcomes and encourages us to come dwell in the presence of God every day. In his presence we find rest and the strength we need in life. We hope this sermon is helpful to you.
There isn't much worse than feeling like God has turned his face away from you. That feeling that tells us that God is so far away from us, and our current sufferings are ours to deal with on our own. Thankfully we are not alone in those feelings. From the cross we hear the the very famous line "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?". not often do we realize that as Christ is quoting psalm 22 from the cross we are seeing him complete this prophecy. 500 years of the history of God's faithfulness to his people is represented in the wonderful Psalm of remembering. Today we hear from Pastor Derek as he walks us through Psalm 105, the wonderful reminder of God's faithfulness in the face of trials and suffering.
Our lives and world are filled with uncertain moments, times of chaos, war, joy, fear, stress, and anxiety. This reality can lead us to internal unrest. Psalm 46 helps us to remember that in all circumstances we can have peace because of who God. We can be still, have peace, and know God, trusting him to provide the peace we need in life.
When the Bible tells us that we have the ultimate protection in God. . . how does that actually play out for us. Many of us are well steeped in some version of suffering in our life, so it sometimes feels like a hard pill to swallow when the Bible describes God as the ultimate protector. In the same way that children imitate their parents, Christians are supposed to imitate God our father. This week as we continued through the letter to the church at Ephesus, Paul called us to imitate God by walking in love, walking in light, and walking in wisdom. Our greatest need is to know God more deeply. There is nothing more important and nothing more impactful in our lives than this. But this ultimately is something we need God to do in us. So, like Paul, we pray asking him to help us know him more deeply.

In Genesis 3, God set in motion in sovereign plan to redeem mankind from sin and death. As the story of redemption continues it focuses in on one man, Abraham. In Genesis 12-22, God promises Abraham that though his family all the families of the earth will be blessed. Through this story we see even more the faithfulness of God to provide a better son than Issac and a better sacrifice than the ram.
Each year as a church we celebrate Advent by remembering and rehearsing the story of redemption from Genesis to Jesus's birth. This week we saw our need from redemption in the dawn of sin and death from Genesis 3. We hope the interwoven promise of God in the midst of the dawn of sin will warm your heart this season.
Join us in today's sermon as we finish out chapter 10 in the book of Mark. Today we hear from Pastor Derek as we walk through the account of blind Bartimaeus meeting Jesus. Sin has done a bang up job at breaking all things in the Earth, including people. Yet Jesus came to restore what sin has broken. In a complete contrast to our culture today Jesus teaches us that the way to follow after Jesus is a life of sacrifice and service to all. A far cry from the self-exalting lifestyle of today Jesus shows us that the "the way up, is actually down". Living a life of self-sacrifice is what the life of follower of Jesus should look like. I mean, it's going to be difficult to get to a more straight to the point question than this one. But isn't this "the" question. Listen along with us as we hear from pastor Brandon in this ever important conversation between Jesus and someone seeking what the path of following Jesus looks like.
In Mark chapter 10 the Pharisees seek to trap Jesus in the cultural complexity of marriage and divorce, a situation that is equally complex today. The main thing Jesus desires for his followers to know is that God does not desire divorce. We hope this sermon on marriage, divorce, and our posture in social issues is helpful to you.
Sin is serious, with serious eternal consequences. It's so serious that God sent Jesus to be our atoning sacrifice. Listen to this weeks podcast to hear how we should live and carry ourselves with a seriousness towards sin and the mission to make disciples.

In Mark 7 Jesus has an encounter with a deaf and mute man. This miracles is a beautiful picture showing that Jesus is the Son of God and he alone has the power to open our ears to the Gospel.
This week we enter back into our series through the Gospel of Mark entitled: Behold The King. Listen along with us this week as Pastor Derek walks us through Mark chapter 7, verses 24 through 30. Jesus came down, not to establish the Kingdom of Israel only, but to bring about a kingdom that has no borders. One that you and I now get to worship the King together. Psalm 26 a psalm of David walks us into an aspect of Christian life that is powerful important. . . Integrity. What does it look like to walk in integrity? How does God view our integrity? The life of a christian is most satisfying when you are glorifying God. He alone is worthy of all glory and praise. Yet we often rob God of the praise and glory that is due to him. What do we do when we are overwhelmed with burdens and weight? God does not desire for us to carry those burdens on our own. Psalm 55 guides us through the process of trusting the Lord with our burdens by casting them on Him.

Our souls are satisfied in God alone. In Psalm 63 David directs us to find glad contentment in God in all things.
The greatest danger we face is our own sin. In Psalm 27 David shows us the example of how we depend on God for deliverance in the face of danger.

Today we hear the end of the message . . . while everything under the sun is meaningless, the fact that we have God and God is, make everything in life meaningful. This final farewell in Ecclesiastes leads us to be reminded to (1) fear God (2) and obey him. Listen and learn along with us.

When we live under the sun as if there is not God we find ourselves overwhelmed with anxiety and fear from trusting in ourselves. In Ecclesiastes 11 Solomon calls us to life our eyes beyond the sun and to trust God in the mysteries of life.

Death has no hold over anyone who belongs to Jesus. This good news is what we hold to. It's what we cling to and hope for. Or maybe it is a wonderful time to know that just as Jesus calls Mary's name in the reading today. . . He is also calling yours.
