We are into the last month of Summer and the football season has arrived.

Has it gone fast or slow?

Over the course of the Summer we have seen the top two add "number 9's" their squads, Ten Haag try to impose himself on the United squad, Barcelona come back from the dead and we witnessed England's Woman's team bring the Euro's home while breaking attendance records.

The SPL was back last weekend and the Premier League is back Friday night at Selhurst Park with Palace vs Arsenal.

Who you got to be relegated amongst you and your friends? Who makes your top 4? Will Spurs split the top two?

If you do Fantasy football who is going to come top and bottom of your mini leagues and whose sitting down with a pint at 3pm on Saturday to watch Jeff and the boys with a coupon on?

The football is back and there are not many greater feelings.

The 21/22 Premier League Season has come and gone and what a season it was.

Had the idea for a while to do this one with the NB Ammie boys. Perfect timing as they just wrapped up the fist full season together.

The time that Finlay, Jack and Hamish take out their days to make sure this team keeps going is nothing short of superb. We chat about what was needed to get the team going, how the idea came about and when they knew it was going to actually work.

Some fantastic stories in here even if you aren't a football fan, but if you are and you are into amateur football you will love this.

The balance these boys have created of keeping it fun mixed with making sure it's serious enough to not have people stop playing has been perfect. You will feel that as you listen to this podcast.

Plenty more of these types of conversations to come over the Summer and not just football related.

The first in studio podcast.

What a day for it as Jurgen Klopp signed a two year contract extension and we had West Ham and Rangers in the Europa League Semi-Final.

Recorded on Wednesday night during a Benzema masterclass at Stamford Bridge Ali came back to argue his points on Ryan Kent after a heated whats app group debate last week.

We compared Kent with the likes of Podence, Saint Maximum and Trossard and asked if he is over or under rated. Could Kent do it in the Premier League?

Alongside that we gave our thoughts on the Old Firm game last weekend, has anyone dropped deep and evolved like Harry Kane has (Rooney?) and gave our quick thoughts on Masters weekend and who will lift the Premier League and Champions league trophies come the end of the season.

Our Lowland League specialist and loyal hammer AJ came along for this one and brought his mate Cammy. Originally Cammy did not want to be on camera but you will soon see he steals the show.

AJ gave the lowdown on what's been happening with the recent vote in the the Lowland League and what it means moving forward for teams around there and we finish giving our thoughts on how the Europa League and Champions league may finish out this season.

It feels good to be back.

Far too long away from doing this but we are officially back. Joined up with the original boys who helped me get started on this in Greg, Scott and Mathew.

In the new flat in Leith while the Liverpool vs Arsenal game kicked off we recapped our top 4 and bottom 3 predictions we gave before the season started and there are some shockers in there.

In this chat we cover how mental the league has been this season, how United are the most interesting topic in football right now, who we think will get relegated/top 4 and who is going to win the league title.

This is the best season I can ever remember in the Premier League with it all to play for in the final weeks of the season.

The plan was for this to be a summary of the season so far and to go over what we had predicted before the season had started. But how often do things go to plan?

Breaking news on the day we were planning to record with Steven Gerrard going to Villa had to take priority and we got the raw emotional thoughts of our very own man Scotty G on how this felt as a Rangers a fan.

After that we ended up on a tangent talking about styles and personalities of managers compared to the clubs they are at, how much do tactics matter and is Ole actually coaching at Man United?

Since we last spoke a lot has happened.

Kane has stayed at Spurs.

Messi left for PSG and ended the Barcelona we all came to love growing up.

The Messiah retuned to Old Trafford.

Alongisde that we had what in my head is without doubt the worst International break I can ever remember. Is it time for International football to be revamped?

Stevie Clarke got a new contract, Billy Gilmour remains Scotland best technical footballer I think the boys and myself have ever seen in our lifetime and weirdly enough Scotland feel like they might actually be evolving into something we may all enjoy to watch, even if it is a little rough right now...

All eyes will be on Old Trafford this weekend as the Messiah returns home.

Is Ronaldo enough to bring Ole and the United fans that big piece of silverware they have been missing for a while now?

I guess this is our version of a season preview?

Discussions on the Scottish League this year and how it could be the most competitive overall since we were kids, and how will Gerrard cope with his team having the target on their back after winning the first league title in 10 years?

We split the Premier League in half and discuss what we think could be the bottom ten and top ten in what could be one hell of a season, certainly at the top end.

I got in touch with Lewis over Twitter and we arranged this chat and got it recorded.

Lewis is currently the assistant coach at Dunkirk FC U18's, Academy Scout for Sheffield United at the weekends and also coaches youth teams at Ruddington and Underwood Villa.

We dived into Lewis views on coaching, his scouting role at the weekend for Sheffield United and what it entails, and finished off by Lewis giving me the lowdown on the mighty Nottingham Forest, and what it's like to have been supporting a club that has massive history, but in recent times have been a shadow of that history.

Football will be the bread and butter of this podcast, but I have more interests that I would like to dive into.

I had the man behind the WFH Lunch club page Murray West join me for the first podcast on here that is not football related.

We chatted about Murrays WHY on starting the page, how we both try and handle social media, what Murrays thoughts are on moving forward with the page now some people are returning to work and how he isn't the Kim K of Instagram.

Really enjoyable and refreshing conversation with Murray and cool to hear his thinking behind the idea he has come up with.

If you haven't heard of him check out WFH Lunch club on Instagram, and if you enjoy showing off your lunches send them in to him to post.

Murray is also donating all the funds he receives from selling his merchandise to Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts in Leith if you would like to get in on that and help.

Ultimately, we both have had fun starting something up with these ideas and you will get the gist of the conversation that it's all we really care about.

Joining me for this conversation is Cammy Graham who is currently a part time player at Stenhousemuir.

Cammy is the first player I have had the chance to speak with, and being 18 I thought he could share his experiencers for other young people in his situation or similar as through his time so far he has been at the likes of Hearts, Dunfermline, St Johnstone and now Stenhousemuir.

We chatted about Cammy's timeline and the different experiences he had at each club, and you will see when you listen to this how much of a positive attitude he has for a kid at 18 dealing with a few setbacks.

Cammy has not only had setbacks in his time in football, but recently he was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer the day football got the green light to go back, and he is extremely open talking about this for the last 5 minutes or so.

As he says many times when talking about his setbacks, it is what it is and you've just got to be positive and keep moving forward.

Spot on for someone who is still very young.

Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.

Below is the link to the charity he has chosen and currently raised over 7 grand for so far if anyone feels like they would want to donate after listening to this:

I sat down for a chat yesterday with Hibernian Woman's assistant coach, and owner/partner of 3 vs 2 Soccer Academy Roddy Maughan.

We touched on Roddy's journey through playing at the likes of Raith, Arbroath and East Stirling. His coaching so far and his experiences coaching in Spain and Egypt, how the woman's game may be moving forward quicker than the mens game and what Scotland can do to stop chasing other countries ideas on the football front.

Huge thanks to Roddy for coming on and having this chat with me and thanks to Sean McAuley for the introduction.

It's all calmed down a little now on the Super League front.

The idea has collapsed, everyone in football happy they didn't have what they love stolen from them during the midst of a global pandemic. Thank god.

After a few days of taking in the news I have found it very interesting how the conversation has quickly shifted to the fact that we need to do something to get football back on track for the better. Every pundit and fan across the country seems to be in agreement with this.

The question is will we stop, take a look around and try and change the game and move it forward in the right way? Or will we all forget about it when our owners buy us the next big player for 200 million this summer?

Joining me to have the discussion on the idea that football does need to change it's ways and move forward is Chelsea fan and friend of Mathew, Dylan Sibbald, and also life long Man City fan, the legend that is Adam Munro making his debut on the podcast.

"I know you are taking it in the teeth, but the first guy through the wall...He always gets bloody...always. This is threatening not just a way of doing business...But in their minds, it's threatening the game" - John Henry, Moneyball.

Everyone in the football world was shocked by the news that was released last night regarding the creation of a Europen Super League.

It's an unbelievable race for 3rd and 4th in the Premier League this season.

You have Leicester, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all playing for two spots!

Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs are the ones that would be hurt the most by missing out, and for Liverpool and Spurs if you are looking at form it doesn't look good.

Can Davey Moyes and the boys pull off the unthinkable? Will a Brendan Rodgers side blow it again? Has Tuchel improved Chelsea enough to secure top 4? Has Mourinho lost his magic and will Jurgen and the lads be able to pull through with enough belief to secure top 4 in what will be a trophyless season after ending a 30 year wait for the Premier league title?

What an end to the season we have coming up folks.

Thanks to AJ and Mathew for joining me on this one.

I was put in touch with Sean McAuley and we sat down for a chat last week.

Sean is currently East Lothian co-ordinator for the SFA, 1st team coach at Bonnyrigg Rose who play in the Scottish Lowland League and has also had some playing experience when he was younger at clubs such as Dundee United, Hibs and Clyde.

We talked about Seans journey through playing and then leading into coaching, the importance of freedom, creativity and expression when coaching kids, how coaching a mens team is a way to bring back that buzz of a Saturday plus much more.

Some would say this is the podcast that wasn't supposed to happen.

After a couple of reschedules and then a couple technical errors during the recording we did finally get it done.

Mathew, James and Liam joined me to talk all things United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Basically it was all about ripping into United and James in his England top and asking Liam about the Chelsea "flops" but there is also some good football chat in here. I promise.

We touch on how Tuchel looks to have really improved Chelsea in a short space of time, is Ole the right man to take United to the next level and really challenge for league titles and eventually win them, and a very brief chat on the signings of Davies and Kabak for the reds and also if Roberto Firmino could be the one to miss out in Liverpool's next phase of evolution.

Jason Grant, don't you worry I haven't forgotten about our bet. The mighty Leeds will be finishing above Arsenal. It's going to be one hell of a finish for that 20 quid!

Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.

P.s.  Lets hope Ole crashes the bus eh Jambo :)

This week I sat down with the legend himself Mr Mark Christie.

Mark is a coach out in California who started his coaching journey in Aberdeen coaching the women's team, progressing to work with clubs such as the San Jose Earthquakes on the youth side and also running his own football (soccer) company called Euro Soccer Training.

In this chat we talked about Christie's journey into football and coaching starting with seeing the Aberdeen casuals and being hooked on the game since he first stepped foot in Pittodrie. Christie then shares his story as a coach and how he continued to learn and add more tools to his toolbox as he says.

We go into detail on how we can educate parents on how to navigate their child's journey through not just football but any sport and there is a lot of great pieces of advice in here for any young players, parents or coaches. Listen and learn.

I was fortunate to reach out and hear back from a local radio station in East Lothian called EAST COAST FM.

I had a great chat with Liz on coaching football out in America, how I ended up out there, how the podcast got started and a few other topics during this conversation.

Thanks to East Coast FM for giving me the time and helping me on getting myself out there more.

It was a great song choice after we went off air with Wonderwall!

Hope you enjoy the short conversation and for those of you who don't know me personally but have been listening and watching I hope you get more of an idea on who I am rather than just hearing me talk about football.

For this chat I was joined by Mike Mackie, Mike Spink and Euan who are all part of the Gullane Athletic Football program.

This was a special one for me as I am sure like a lot of people, there is no place like home. Gullane means a lot to me and looking back now at growing up it's a one of those special places that you are lucky to be a part of.

The community feel to it just brings something special to the place. Having grown up with a lot of family members volunteering in the village to put events on for the youth every year I always had the urge to give something back to kids myself and venturing into coaching for 8 years was the beginning of that.

These guys, and especially Mike Mackie, created a Football program for boys and girls to be a part of, building a community club and adding huge value to Gullane. All volunteers and giving their spare time to help out the youth.

It's a great conversation on how they fell into Football as kids themselves, moving into the journey to build up the program from scratch and how they continue to grow it and work with the kids.

During the conversation there may be a reference made too limited heading drills for the kids, this is only for those aged 12 and above. There are no heading drills for kids aged 12 and under.

If you see this and you are someone from Gullane, or even if you listen and enjoy it, it would be great if you could share it and spread what these guys are doing around the area.

Song choice for the feel of this podcast:

Diamonds in the Mud by Gerry Cinnamon.

I've been all round the world, but there's nowhere compares to my home-town.

We almost got the full band back together for this week.

In this chat Mathew, Scotty and myself discuss Stevie G and Rangers with regards to what we feel like Gerrard has brought to the club not just from a football point of view but the mentality he has instilled.

We also talk about how the Premier League is currently shaping up in what is turning out to be the most unpredictable season for all the teams bar Man City. Also is Pep Guradiola's football getting boring or is the game lacking the usual energy without the fans?

Thankfully this was recorded before the Liverpool vs Chelsea game...

In Part two I speak with Matt about his journey into coaching and what that journey may look like for other people wanting to go down this path.

We chat about how coaching kids is more than just teaching them football, the different avenues you can go down to be a coach, what both Matt and myself have learnt through our time coaching and more.

You have to see the world through the kids eyes.

This is a great conversation for anyone but particularly if you are wanting to be a coach or know of anyone who would like to get into coaching. Im sure you will pick up a few gems in here.

Huge thanks to Matt for coming on and having this chat with me.

For this chat I was joined by a friend from California Matt Bambrick.

Matt is a Football coach and huge Villa fan. He has recently started up his own company called Socal Youth Sports and is now based in LA, the city of dreams.

I have split this conversation into two parts as we discussed Villa for the first half and coaching for the second half.

In Part One Matt tells me how he fell in love with Football and Villa, what Villa have done to get to where they are now, how good Dean Smith is, how much of an impact John Terry is having on the team and just how good is Jack Grealish.

For this conversation I caught up with an old friend of the family Al "Big A" Watt.

Big A is a huge Aberdeen fan (even though he doesn't get to see them as much these days) has been to almost every ground in Scotland and has dabbled a little in football journalism both in Scotland and out in Georgia where he is currently living and has lived and breathed football all his life.

We chat about Aberdeen, Scottish football as a whole, the Scottish national team, Big A's wee stints here and there getting to cover games as a journalist as a hobby and how football is much more than just the 90 minutes that the game is on.

The game is just a reason to be there.

This week we had an old friend and former footy teammate of mine growing up Andy "AJ" Jones join us.

AJ has been involved in Football all his life and still currently plays and works in Football and has a great footy brain.

We chat a lot about West Ham, why is Scottish Football not more available on TV to kids and the man that AJ says he idolizes to this day as a left winger Mr Gareth Bale plus a lot more.

GSE GSE GSE! STAND YOUR GROUND AND FIGHT!

You aren't a true Football fan if you didn't fall in love with West Ham a little after that movie right?

This week we lost Super Frank. Another Chelsea manager that has felt the wrath of the owner. The difference this time was that this manager was a club legend.

For this conversation we brought on our good friend Liam, who is a Chelsea fan all the way from sunny California to get his thoughts on the situation at Chelsea.

We also took the top five (at the time of planning for the podcast) and discuss their next six games in what could be the moment someone starts to pull away with the league.

Are City clear favorites? Can United bounce back off that defeat last night and keep pace? Are Leicester good enough to win it again? Are Spurs the dark horses with Jose in charge? And can Jurgen Klopp turn around his first tough time at Liverpool to regain the title?

Just remember. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Not just with Football but with "success" in general I feel like we all want it NOW and don't want to have to go through the process and the pain of getting to that point, whatever it may be for you in life or as a football fan.

You have to accept that if you want success and if you want to sustain it, that it takes time and a bit of pain before you get there, and even after you get there.

In this chat we look at the game and certain teams from a fans perspective and what are our expectations vs the reality of the situation that our clubs we all love are in when we take a step back from the emotion of being a fan.

Thank you to everyone who has been tuning in every week so far.

How much does style of play matter for your team?

What would you rather as a newly promoted team, play open exciting football and be at risk of going of going down but enjoying the rollercoaster? Or defending for your life week in week out playing for a point and hoping to sneak a win?

In this conversation we go into detail about these topics and more.

You know the deal.

Unfortunately we started off this week with the sad news of the passing of Gerard Houllier.

My earliest memories of falling in love not just with Liverpool, but Football, were with Houllier's Liverpool team that won the treble.

Most specifically Michael Owen scoring two goals against Arsenal in the FA Cup final and doing a somersault and then Gary McAllister (who I fortunately had the privilege of meeting in California) whipping in a free kick that was headed in for an own goal during Golden goal in the UEFA Cup Final.

That started my journey to playing football for my whole youth, then leading into pursuing a football career coaching in California for 8 years, and finally back to Scotland now talking about football with some of my closest friends and my brother.

So the Weekend Review this week is dedicated to Gerard.

I will finish off this description with a quote from him that sums up how not just football should be, but life itself:

"Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off"

Thanks for the memories Gerard,

Cannon.

The conversation this week revolves around the previous weekends big talking points.

Have Celtic imploded? Is the re-action over the top? Will Neil Lennon make it until the end of the season?

Did Ole show a sign of improvement with his sub of Cavani at the weekend to win 3 points for United?

Did Brighton deserve a penalty on Saturday against Liverpool? What are the boys thoughts on Jurgen Klopp's fiery BT interview?

And of course the debate on VAR rumbles on.

Pour yourself a drink, and join the conversation!

Cheers,

Cannon.

In this conversation we brought my Uncle Glyn on board for a Scotland special after qualifying for a major tournament for the first time in 22 years.

We share our thoughts on the game against Serbia and talk about how this is an opportunity for Scottish Football to build for the future with this fantastic achievement of qualifying for Euro 2021.

How do we want our national team to play? Is there a right or wrong way for us to play? What are the short and long term goals for Scotland? Finally finishing with what do we expect as fans from Scottish players and a Scottish manager.

Open a can, relax, tune in and enjoy the conversation.

In the first episode we talk about how the game of Football has changed for us since growing up watching it in the early/mid 2000's. We touch on VAR, how tackling and the physical part of the game has changed, how defending has changed from a coaching and playing point of view and how Social Media now affects the world of Football.

We finish off with predictions for the Serbia vs Scotland game that's on tonight.

Mon the Tartan Army!
