This podcast is a past interview I had with my colleague about Girls and Women in Baseball since the 19th Century. The audience will learn how each player cultivated courage to play a male only-dominated sport, Baseball since the birth of this sport in the 1800's. Toward the end of the interview, I talk about my memoir chapter book, "Breaking Barriers: A Girl's Dream to Play Little League with Boys," in 1975, in which I share my struggles, shame, and courage to cross the diamond. Not many people know that President Ford signed a law in December 1974 giving girls the right to play little league with boys. I thought it would be smooth sailing playing baseball with boys without fanfare. Unfortunately, I was wrong as I invite you to read my story that will inspire girls to play baseball.
Girls need to read stories of women and girls who dared to go against the norms of their societies. Learning about courage, not fitting in, and trying to belong as you are, is a struggle for so many girls across the world.
