In this episode, I have a special conversation with Stephanie Ayala. Steph is from San Antonio, Texas, where she works as an office manager and a drug counseling intern. She is on the path to obtaining a master's degree in marriage and family therapy, concentrating specifically on trauma. Her career aspirations are deeply rooted in her desire to establish her own private practice focused on Christian counseling, aiming to specialize in assisting individuals and their families in navigating the challenges of addiction and trauma. She is engaged and is set to marry in October. Stephanie values her time with friends, working out and spiritual growth through spending time with Jesus. Her home is shared with a beloved cat and two dogs. she is a dear friend of mine, and I am so grateful to be able to have her as an honored guest on this episode!

Let’s talk about friendships today. I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot lately and learning a lot about these relationships. I feel like God has been teaching and revealing some biblical truths and principles about friend relationships. I know all of our life circumstances are all so different. Which means our time for friends and ability to invest in those relationships can look different in every season. But what I have come to realize is that friendship is a gift from God and actually a vital part of our wellbeing. God is a God of relationship. He cares about the relationship we have with him, but not just him, those around us, including our friends. I know for many of us some of our top priorities are our husbands, kids, and close family, as it should be. But it seems nowadays, friendships, genuine life giving friendships, are seldom and not seen as valuable. It could be for many reasons such as busyness, insecurities, prior negative experiences or isolation. But I feel it strong on my heart today to encourage you to see the beauty of friendship in this season of your life. There are friendships right now in your life or friendships that have yet to be developed that will bless your life in incredible ways as you bless theirs as well. But don’t continue to live your life missing out on the joys of friendship with other amazing women. The bible talks so so much about friendship, which some may be surprised about. The bible talks in the book of ACTS all about people of God simply doing life together. Eating together, praying together, helping each other out in times of need and simply existing with each other. It is how God designed us and desires us to live. His heart is blessed when He sees his people fellowshipping, living life together, enjoying the simple things of life like food and fun, lifting each other up in times of need and praising God together. We are called to live in community and genuine friendship. So why are many of us living in isolation and loneliness? Mostly because we are caught up in the rat race of life and have believed the lie we don’t have time. But what if this was one of the areas God is wanting to highlight to you that will be a piece of the puzzle that will bring fulfillment to your life? Could it be?--

Do you ever feel like life is a roller coaster sometimes? One minute things seem to be going upward little by little and you begin feeling encouraged by the direction you are headed. Then the next minute boom, an unexpected dip that sends you screaming and holding on tightly to the handle bars. Life literally be like that sometimes. I think by this point in all of our lives we can all agree that this is true and we already have the expectation that life will bring its ups and downs. This is not new news. But let’s be real, when we are going through it, it always feels unexpected and not very pleasant at the time when an unexpected turn happens. I’m sure we are all learning to just ride the ride of life and handle it the best possible way we can, but what about when we’re just tired of it already? Sometimes it can just feel exhausting. It’s exhausting trying to just keep it all together, trying to hold up the heavy load, trying to be our best, act our best, do our best and there are days where we are just straight up tired and frustrated. Maybe this week you decided to organize a new schedule to bring more structure and productivity to your life, you created a workout plan, meal plan, set up playdates, made a cleaning schedule, made times for self care and intentional time with your hubby and then boom, your kid gets sick and there's throw up everywhere, they’re clingy, up all night and the plans are out of the window. Or maybe you got a raise at work after months of working so hard and your boss has praised you and given you a promotion, then boom you get a new boss the next week and they have a weird vibe towards you and your work environment begins slowly but surely becoming hostile and uncomfortable. Maybe you and your husband have been going to counseling and have made a lot of progress in the relationship and y'all finally feel more connected than ever and then boom you get in one of the biggest fights you’ve had in awhile, you feel discouraged and doubtful about it all. There are many different scenarios you might be facing such as health concerns, infertility, depression and anxiety, finances, family struggles, the list can go on and on. But whatever it is for you today, whatever part of the rollercoaster you’re on at this point I believe God wants to speak words of encouragement to you today. This rollercoaster leads to victory! I know many ups and downs, many twists and turns, many laughs and fears through it all, but God is leading you to a place of purpose, victory, fulfillment, desires fulfilled, peace and unimaginable joy! Sometimes we get so consumed with where we are in the present that it’s easy to forget where we are headed, we are headed to the promise that God spoke over your life. It’s not always easy getting there but this rollercoaster leads there! When you are on God’s coaster it truly leads to the right place. You are on the right track, you just gotta hold on a little longer and trust this crazy process!

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:37-39
When I read this scripture again the word convinced stood out to me. I stopped and I asked myself, “are you convinced that God really loves you in this way?” To be convinced is to be completely certain about something or firm in one’s belief about a particular thing. To be convinced means that nothing can shake what you believe, nothing can uproot or steal what is stored in your heart, nothing you face, encounter, hear or see can change what you believe. And today I want to ask you, are you convinced? Are you convinced that literally NOTHING can separate you from the fierce love of God for YOU! Your big motherhood fail today cannot separate you from his love, a failed marriage won’t take you away from his loving arms, a negative doctors report won’t push away his love, reaching for negative vices again won’t pull you away from his love, running away from him in your darkest hour won’t prevent him from still loving you. I could go on and on with examples today, but I truly believe that God wants you to leave today being fully convinced that HE LOVES YOU! He loves you in the highs of life and the low blows. He loves you when you’re smiling and when you’re crying. He loves you when you’re obedient and when you fall for your humanity and sin. He loves you year around, 24/7 and nothing, not even yourself, can separate you from this truth. And the truth is many of us here might say, “yeah, I know God loves me, I’m a Christian, that’s what the bible says, that’s what I’ve been told, so yeah!” But are you deep down convinced to your core to where you live your life walking in this truth? Many of us play all the reasons in our head subconsciously of why we are unlovable or deserving of love sometimes. And we don’t even realize this, but if we tap into our souls just a little sometimes, we’re surprised to see that we are functioning out of a conditional love mindset, walking in fear of abandonment and rejection. BUT God’s love is unconditional, fierce, passionate and jealous for us! When he looks at us, he has eyes of fire blazing with unbridled love, to the point that he was willing to give his own life for us. He loves us! So, let’s break this truth down a little deeper today.

Let’s have some real talk today. Life can be a whirlwind sometimes, am I right? If we don’t have strong roots and tough skin we will easily be pushed around like those blow up stick people at the car lots trying to attract customers. Completely unstable! I’ve been reminded recently of how important it is for us to develop a tough skin and strong roots. There will be battles we face, there will conflict within our souls, and conflicts that arise from those around us. We will experience ups and downs, it’s inevitable. But we can either be swept under by the waves of life or learn to surf these waves that will in fact come. Being a christian women these days isn’t just this pretty title, or a cute little lady, being a christian woman requires grit, fierceness, strength, resilience, it requires getting your hands dirty, standing firm, not buckling down, staying true to your convictions, loving those who hate you, being selfless and sacrificial, dying to self and living for Christ and like I said before, strong roots and tough skin! It’s not easy, especially in our world and culture today. And let me tell you this unpopular opinion, people will not like you! Some may not like you because your simply a christian, some may not like you just for fun, some may not like you because of your appearance, your family dynamic, your morals, your parenting style and so on. You really never know. Nobody wants to be disliked, it sucks. But what I have realized more and more as I’ve been getting older and experiencing more life is this, you have to get use to people sometimes not liking you and sometimes there is no good reason for it. If you don’t have strong roots and tough skin, this will eat you alive. It will cause you to doubt yourself, feel insecure and be swayed by the opinion and thoughts of others. But who here actually has time for that? All of you have a billion things you’re juggling, motherhood, home life, work, errands and so on. And as a grown mature woman, you don’t have time to be distracted by the whirlwinds of life and the random haters that may arise. Granted, we should always always have self reflection and look inwardly to ensure that our haters weren’t created due to our actions but in some instances that isn’t the case and you must learn to know the difference. Have you ever woken up, immediately thought about your day and all it’s going to bring and just started dreading it all? Maybe you’re dreading dropping your kids off at daycare/school, maybe you're dreading your long work schedule, maybe you’re dreading all the cleaning that has to be done, maybe you’re dreading the vicious cycle of trying to be a good and calm mom but feeling overwhelmed and defeated 5 minutes into the day, maybe you’re dreading the potential arguments you and your husband might have due to all the extra stress, maybe you’re dreading the overstimulation, maybe you’re just tired and dreading it all. All this dread then leads to guilt, guilt for feeling dread and all over again! If you have felt these ways, I want you to know you’re not alone and you’re not a bad mom for feeling these ways. You are completely normal and it’s possible you’re just tired and a bit burnt out. I caught myself the other morning waking up with a sense of dread. I felt really tired, and I thought of all I had to do, and, in that moment, I wanted to do nothing instead. It caused me to start off the day with a negative perspective and attitude. I felt a tad irritated right off the bat. But I quickly felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit. He showed me a two-sided coin and revealed to me that I can look at this day two ways, filled with dread or I could flip the coin and choose to look at those same things with a positive perspective. Instead of dreading the housework, I could choose to stop and thank God for the house we have. Instead of dreading homeschool because I was tired, I could remind myself why I am so grateful I have this opportunity to teach my children, instead of dreading working out later I could choose to be thankful that I can work out from home and strengthen my body, instead of dreading making dinner I could get excited about creating a nice meal and so on. The truth is, all these things can be tiring, and we can get burnt out from all the tasks and demands every day, this is normal. But we could also find ourselves in a slump of self-pity and dread that takes our eyes off of the gratefulness we should have for these very things we’re blessed to be responsible over. That doesn’t mean we should fake it till we make it, that’s lame. It just means we should acknowledge our feelings and yet still choose to take a step back and grasp a greater perspective. After I felt this encouragement from the Holy Spirit, I started to think about the things I look forward to that day. I began to imagine the day unraveling better than anticipated. I began realizing I had the opportunity to enjoy my kids, make little moments and just simply have fun today. I drank all my coffee for a power boost, had some time with Jesus and asked him to help me in these areas and truthfully the day ended up being more joyful than I felt it would be when I woke up. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy my life, my kids and the dynamic of this season. I don’t feel dread every day, but this particular day I felt so tired, and everything felt overwhelming. So today I believe God wants to speak to our hearts and first tell us, He understands us. We don’t have to feel guilty or ashamed for feeling dreadful and overwhelmed. But 2. I believe He wants to help us flip the coin and see things with a grateful and hopeful perspective.

How many times have you faced a situation where you just stop and say, “it’s just not working!” Maybe you’ve tried “everything” and you’re ready to throw your hands up. You’re tired and just straight up frustrated. Maybe you’ve tried everything to save your marriage, counseling, books, long conversations, shed many tears and made many compromises but it seems it’s not working. Maybe you’ve tried everything to help your child with learning challenges, behavioral issues or health concerns and you don’t see any progress. Maybe you’ve tried every new formula, a different sleep sack every night, rocking, bouncing, swaying, white noise, ocean sounds and yet your baby still won’t sleep and you’re exhausted. Maybe you’ve tried anything and everything to stop drinking or abusing substances that just numb the pain that no one sees inside and you can’t seem to break free, it has a hold on you. Maybe you’ve tried every medicine, seen many therapists, read many books, tried all the natural routes but you’re still stuck in a pit of depression and anxiety and it’s getting too dark. Or maybe you’re just trying to be a better mom than you had growing up, you’re trying to break the generational curses, habits and destructive behaviors but sometimes it’s a hard wall to breakthrough and you wonder if you can be the mom you so desperately want to be. Maybe it just all feels like it’s not working and you don’t know what to do from here. You’re trying your best and some days it just feels like it’s not enough. Well I strongly believe today that God wants to give you a word of encouragement, try one more time will you and this time with solely the power of Jesus. (Disclaimer: I’m not promising an instant result from the message but simply sharing the power of not giving up and trusting Jesus in these particular situations) I felt it heavy on my heart to share this message with you and as I thought about this concept many many stories in the bible came to mind of godly people feeling the same way and in these stories God came through every time! I believe He is going to come through for you too!

This year we must realize that our perspective can flip the script. This past week I was having some time in worship and I fell to my knees and I was overwhelmed with God’s holiness, his perfection and began to feel just so unworthy of His love and goodness towards me. I looked within and just knew I was a sinner. I began to cry out to him, I am unworthy of your love, your goodness, I am far from perfect and I don’t deserve you. I began to tell him, please still love me, accept me, choose me and forgive me for all of my humanity. I want to be close to you, I want to be with you in eternity and I am trying my best here on earth to please you. I was in tears. Have you ever felt this way? Like you love God so much and want nothing more than His love, but yet feel so unworthy as you look within? If so, you’re not alone, in fact God honors your humility. And what was so crazy is God answered my thoughts about what I was feeling instantly. The next song and lyrics that came on were the ones I quoted above. And I began to cry as I felt his Fathers heart, embrace and reassurance of His love for me. I felt so loved and wanted in that moment regardless of my unworthiness. He still wanted me and He still wants you.

I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil. Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate. My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. Psalms 101:2-6
When I read this verse today it really spoke to me about our responsibility to take care of our house, not necessarily the physical needs of our home but the atmosphere of our home. What goes on within the walls of our home matters. Let’s preface this by saying our families and household will not be perfect whatsoever, there might be yelling, arguing, tantrums, crying and so on. BUT what I am saying is that we have influence on how our household runs. Especially as mothers, we have the power to create, change and influence the atmosphere of our home. Let’s think about it, here's a funny but real example. If we are in a random cleaning frenzy, we’re irritated and ready to throw all the toys away and rearrange furniture and we start demanding everyone to do something, the house feels it. The people who live within start getting a tad nervous and have a blank stare wondering what just happened. It’s cleaning time and everyone knows it. Our desire for a clean home right now has now penetrated everyone within. But let’s talk a little deeper. We have the opportunity and ability to lead our home to honor God. (of course, our husbands are the head of our household and ultimately lead, but today I am specifically talking about our role in all of this) What happens within the walls of our home, God sees, and God cares about. What happens within matters just as much as what happens on Sundays at church with our family. As I read this scripture today it reminded me that as a mother, I want to lead my children and our home closer to Jesus. The things I allow or don’t allow in my home, such as entertainment, the way we speak, the way we act and treat each other and etc., I want it all to be honoring to God. Home is our safe place, a place where we can put on our pjs, throw our hair up and look “ugly pretty” But even though it’s our safe place, it should still remain a safe and godly place. Not a place that we’re so comfortable we throw off all restraints allow things unfitting for the glory of God. Does this make sense? If we want our home to be peaceful, filled with the Spirit of God, blessed, joyful, protected by God and covered by His precious blood, we must prepare an inviting place for Him to dwell. Does this make sense? So today I truly believe God is talking to me and all of us here about the beautiful role we have as a woman and mother and the responsibility we have to conduct our home in a way that brings glory to God. We have the power to do that, how amazing!

What do you see when you look in the mirror? You may notice your beautiful hair growth, your blushful cheeks, your glowing eyes, or maybe you notice your overgrown eyebrows, the tired bags under your eyes or the new pimple that always seems to come the same time each month lol The mirror helps us to see, reflect and be aware of what is before us. It shows us the things we admire and reveals the things we might need to adjust. It shows us what we don’t see unless we look into it. Today we’re going to talk about self awareness and reflection. We’re going to talk about not just looking at our outward appearance but looking deeper within, looking at our heart and putting things in order. This past week I have been doing some self reflection. And let’s be honest, that’s actually not as easy as it may sound. To look within is sometimes uncomfortable. It takes humility to look at the good and the messy things. We all have to understand that within us lies both good and messy. No one here is free from the mess that sometimes builds up within our hearts. The mess of unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness, anger, addiction, self pity, greed, perversion, slander, gossip, ungratefulness, discontentment and much more. Those things build up and fester before we even realize it sometimes. And in the same way no one here is without good in your heart right now, the beauty of selflessness, sacrifice, love, generosity, kindness, gentleness and so much more right. So as I took time this week to reflect I became aware of some things I really want to work on, like not just reflect and then never work on but really work on for real. Then I realized that just as quickly as I became aware I began a dialogue of negative self talk, then I began to hear the prompting of the Holy spirit stop me in my tracks and begin teaching me about the importance of self awareness and reflection, he showed me that it is not a self bashing show but rather a desire to simply grow for the better while still having self love and gentleness. We so easily beat ourselves up when we think we have things to work on, but it doesn’t have to be like that, in fact, it shouldn’t. In the same way we look in the mirror, see some overgrown eyebrow hairs then quickly pluck them out and say, “dang girl you look good!” Is the same way we can with the little areas of our life that need some love, correction and attention. So today let’s look in the mirror together. Let’s not be afraid of what we might see but embrace every part of ourselves. Let’s rejoice in the beauty and take note of the messy and see what we can do to better those areas with the wisdom, grace and love of Jesus.

When you hear this scripture what comes to mind? It makes me think about the finality of when God speaks. It makes me think about the truth that literally NOTHING can come against God’s promises. It makes me think about every doubt I’ve ever had and how even in the darkest doubt and thought, God still promises to come through, it is not dependent on how I feel or my circumstances. Have you ever felt like you were walking through the fire? Everything wrong seems to be happening, the walls are caving in, it’s getting hot, you feel the testings and trials of life rushing in and you feel like you’re in the furnace and you don’t even know how you got there! You ask God, “What is going on?” You’re desperate for relief and asking God to come through. If you have felt like this at any point in your life these are not uncommon to man. These are the seasons of life where you are being refined through the fire. There are actually many instances that the bible refers to the “fires” of life. There are many stories of men and women being in seasons as such but what God does in these seasons are incredible. I was reading Psalms 66 today and it said this: 'Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling. You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver. You captured us in your net and laid the burden of slavery on our backs. Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, BUT you brought us to a place of great abundance. ' Psalms 66:9-12 It reminded me of the times we walk through the fires of life and just how hard it truly is, BUT how God doesn’t just leave us there, he walks us through and brings us to a place of great abundance. God will bring you out, do you hear me? He will bring you out of the fiery furnace. Just watch!

Today when I was journaling I began to feel overtaken by gratefulness for many things. I began to look back at my life and reflect on just how many prayers God has answered. I began to see right where I was and had to stop and thank God for the blessings I was sitting in. I began to see things even deeper. I thanked God for saving my soul, for reaching me at one of my darkest times and offering me his salvation. I realized that he has broken so many generational curses from my life and canceled them from affecting my children and generations to come. I realized that he chose me and pulled me out of a dark hole that many generations before me in my family line had fallen into, from substance abuse, adultery, witchcraft, sexual immorality, and just straight up darkness. I could see those things so clearly as I looked back into the history of my family line, but as I glanced forward all I could see was the light of Jesus. I can see that Jesus has been making all things new for me and my family. I was just filled with gratitude for the power of God and what he can do! And I felt him whisper, “you are paving the way!” I asked what he meant and I felt him unravel it and realized this message wasn’t just for me, but for all of you! We are paving the way. Making a new way. Cleaning out the brush, the thorns, cleaning up the dirt. Removing the darkness, breaking the generational curses, creating a new atmosphere of peace, love and righteousness for our life and the life and health of our own family as we choose to follow Jesus. We are paving a way for our kids to follow. We go before them as we follow Jesus and they are walking right behind us on a new path of righteousness to walk towards the King, our Savior Jesus Christ! This new path isn’t always easy, there are hard decisions we make, there are sacrifices made, there are things we surrender and give up but as we do these hard things, it paves the way for our children who follow and it is always worth it!

Dear Anxiety, who invited you? I was living just fine without you. You barged in one day and took over. I felt scared, I lost all control, you abruptly pushed me into a corner. Can I be honest? I hate you! I hate how you make me feel. You make me feel crazy, alone, out of touch, paralyzed with fear, you make me tremble and for some reason you make me only imagine and even believe the worst about everything. You are obviously not from God! You are from the devil himself. The emotions and feelings God gave us to help us navigate through life, you somehow found a way to steal too and use it to haunt us. How dare you! Anxiety, it keeps you awake at night, your heart is racing pounding through your chest, it makes you oh so tired from the mental fight, it causes your mind to be crowded and just so loud from the train of fearful thoughts, it makes you feel like you’re drowning, longing for just a breath of hope. It tells you just how unworthy, unfit and unstable you are when really those are just twisted lies. Anxiety causes you to go on an endless rat race trying to find its origin but never figuring it out. Where did it come from, was it my childhood, the trauma, the abandonment, this or that, who knows? But how do I get rid of it? Anxiety makes you feel like a frantic person longing for an answer, a solution! Anxiety is dark, it’s heavy, it’s tangible, it’s a lie, it’s scary! But then I realized one day it’s not as scary as it tries to portray itself. I started to look up from despair and look at anxiety straight in the face. I started to see it’s true colors. I started to realize that I didn’t have to be a victim of it’s abuse and control. I didn’t have to believe all the lies it was feeding me. I began to fight back! I began to see this huge black cloud as a swift fog that is quickly disappearing. I began to look back and see that God was there even when I felt utterly alone in the room with anxiety. I wasn’t alone. He was there. Sitting in the dark with me, holding my hand, just sitting. I realized he sits with me in the dark places and he never abandons me even to the most anxious moments of my life. But he begins to whisper words of hope, his truth, his love, his vision for the future and he begins to show me a picture I’ve never seen before. A picture of me, stronger, better, more resilient, wiser, calmer, more peaceful and brave than ever before. He shows me where I am going. He tells me that I won’t stay in this valley of despair forever, unlike the voices of anxiety almost convinced me of. He tells me to stand up, take one step at a time as he leads and shows me that we can walk freely right out of the grasp of anxiety. The chains of anxiety I thought I was wearing, fell off at the name of Jesus. They crashed to the floor and lost all it’s power. It has no hold on me anymore. The devil loses yet again! No one or nothing can stand in the presence of God, no lie, no fear, no anxiety, no demon, no weight. Jesus truly is my Savior, my Lord, my helper, my redeemer, my freedom, my hope and literally the only one who can save me from myself and the trials and pains of this life, and He is that for you too!

He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. As I read through Psalms 46 today I just felt like it was so relevant. I know many of us almost feel encircled by fear as we continue to become more aware of all that is going on in our world, from wars in the middle east, to potential threats on our end, to lab grown meat, riots arising, natural disasters and so much more. Not to mention our own little world with our little family and the stressors and fears we have just inside our own home. But as I read Psalms today I almost just felt God’s gentle reminder of so many important things, he is with us, we don’t need to fear, he is greater than it all and he can cause it all to come to a screeching halt, we can be still and know that He alone is God! We can slowly let go of these fears that we are holding on to, anxiously searching for security and hope, trying to figure it all out and protect our family. We can look up to heaven and cling to our refuge, our strength, our helper, Jesus Christ who will never abandon us!

How many of you feel overstimulated and overwhelmed? Can we all be real today? Can we be godly women who love our kids so much it hurts, while still being real about the struggle? Or no? Motherhood can be hard! It’s not our kids who make it hard but the responsibility that comes with it. Motherhood requires so much of you that some days it just overtakes you and you can’t help but feel depleted, alone and utterly exhausted, am I right? Overstimulation is so real, can I get an amen. The constant noise, the crying, the screaming as they play just because, the constant snack requests, the “mom come wipe my butt” while you’re cooking, the countless conversations with your husband or friends that is interrupted a billion times for who knows what, the toys banging, need I go on? Overstimulation is one of the toughest parts for me tbh. But we can’t imagine our life without our precious children, they’re worth it all! But I want to speak to the overstimulated and overwhelmed mama today. I want you to know you’re not alone. I want you to know you’re still a good mother, in fact, you’re a great mother! I want you to know that God sees every single thing you do and he’s proud of you, I want you to know that God cares about your needs as you care about everyone else's. I want you to know that it only makes sense you’re feeling this way because you’re simply juggling so much, you’re not crazy, I promise! God wants to encourage your soul today and reassure your heart today!

Last week we talked about how Jesus is our shepherd and what that truly means. This week I truly feel in my heart that God wants us to learn more about who He is to us. He is so many things to us and I feel like it all can be wrapped up into his role as our FATHER! The more we truly learn and understand who he really is to us the closer we truly feel to him. There are so many things he is not that we may be believing and sometimes those lies will push us away from the good good father he truly is. The devil loves to separate us from God in any way he can, especially if he can cause us to believe that God is something he is not. But today I want you to know and learn that God is a good father! I know all of our dynamics with our earthly father are so different. I know this subject can be sensitive. You may have a beautiful and healthy relationship with yours, you may have a distant one, you may be mourning the loss of your father, you may have had an abusive and traumatic relationship or you may have never met your father. All of these dynamics can and will affect the way you see your heavenly father. I want you to know that God is truly a perfect and loving God towards us and some of us know nothing about what that feels like and some may. But no matter what your relationship with your dad looks like I want you to listen in today and discover how God is a loving, perfect, caring, compassionate, forgiving, comforting, patient, calm, present and amazing father who wants nothing more than to embrace his daughter and whisper in your ear, “I am with you, I love you and everything is going to be ok!” I could honestly cry thinking of just how God is my father and all that it entails. I myself grew up with a very distant relationship with my dad. I saw him every couple of years, sometimes more frequent but not often. We talked on the phone every couple of months. It was messy honestly. My parents divorced when I was two and I never had the opportunity to go sit on my daddys lap and feel safe and comforted. That was literally a desire I’ve had my whole, to just sit in my dads lap. I had a step dad growing up for 14 years. He provided and he was there but there was never an emotional connection at all. I was afraid of him if we’re being honest. I’m grateful for him providing and taking care of our home and family in that sense but I never called him dad nor felt that closeness that I honestly did desire. I understand now as an adult that they just didn't know how and that's ok! I viewed God out of the lenses of my experiences for a long time, I saw him as distant, emotionally disconnected and just didn’t concern himself with my well being or emotions. But as I began to grow closer to God over the years God continuously would reveal himself to me as a father and show me little by little how he was those things for me in so many ways. In fact, he was better than any earthly father! So I wish that for you today, to see God as your father who wants nothing more than to be with his daughter and shower you with all his love!

You may have heard Psalms 23 a billion times. Maybe your grandma always recited it to you. Maybe you were told to read it when you’re scared or going through something. Maybe you have a poster of it on your wall. Or maybe you’ve never read it before. It is a very popular chapter in Psalms and I’ve personally read it several times. But man oh man, does this chapter have so much to talk about, so much hope, comfort and encouragement about the very nature of God towards his people. Reading it makes me just want to cry and sit at God’s feet, it’s so beautiful! Have you ever heard of the principle of “seed, time, harvest?” This principle comes straight from the bible and really teaches us the concept of patience, perseverance, hard work and hope. It’s easy to become discouraged when we feel like we’re doing all the right things but don’t see instant results. Motherhood is not just cooking, cleaning, making crafts, changing diapers, giving rides and endless cuddles. It is leading, guiding, instructing, teaching and showing our kids the right path to take in life. Especially if we are christian parents, we are responsible to teach our kids the love of God, His word, His ways and encourage them to follow Him as we follow Him ourselves. As our kids begin to grow up, think for themselves, have questions, doubts and begin to see and be curious about the culture and world we live in today, a new challenge is presented to us. How do we explore these tough topics with our children? How do we properly talk to them, teach them in a way that they will understand and be responsive to, in a way it doesn’t turn them away from their faith but bring them closer to their creator. This is hard if we’re being honest and there is no manual to follow. You might be able to find a book of specific prayers for specific issues at barnes and nobles but it might be very hard to find a book about how to talk to your kids about tough topics. Many of us are facing this right now. Even with my young kids 5 and under, they are already asking tough questions that truly need appropriate answers. So how do we handle tough topics like homesexuality when it is promoted and glamorized all around us, how do we talk about sex, purity and the immorality all around us, how do we talk about drugs, alcohol and substances, how do we talk about divorce, hurts, rejection, pain, trauma. How do we explore these tough topics in the right way? Well the truth is, I don’t know the specific answer for each and every situation you face, but I know who does. God gives us so much wisdom in His word to navigate through many dynamics of life, especially, parenthood. So let’s see what He has to say and let’s find peace as we find direction in His word.
