In this episode, we share the research of Stuart Shanker and Susan Hopkin’s Energy-Centred Teaching Model as an entry point to connect with our students, their families, and perhaps even our colleagues. Supported with the brief, A Strategy for Unfinished Learning, published by The Education Trust, we invite special guest, Director of Education, Vince Romeo to demonstrate one way in which we can begin the process of developing relationships that reconnect us.

The past two years has taught us that there is much outside of our control. What we can control is who we are being and how we respond to what is needed in the moment.
As the school year draws to a close, it is an important time to stop and reflect on this past year. It’s also an opportunity to take a deep breath and think about how to best direct your energies in the coming year
To help in this effort, we’ve put together some reflection questions for our Kindergarten friends at St. Mark Elementary.
Each year, the Catholic community of Ontario engages in a week-long celebration of Catholic education during Catholic Education Week. This year’s celebration is entitled, “Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together”. This theme was inspired by a variety of considerations including an ongoing recognition of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission.
In this episode, Dil and Amanda engage in a conversation with Tyler Waddilove, LDCSB’s Indigenous Graduation Coach. Tyler provides supports to Indigenous learners with the goal of obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and successfully transitioning into post-secondary education, trades, or the workforce. Tyler shares his experiences growing up Indigenous, as a Regina Mundi grad, and guiding us through an important discussion surrounding Indigenous experiences and culture.

The research argues that cooperative and collaborative relationships between school boards and community organizations are part of the foundation of a strong, vibrant, and sustainable education system.
Dil and Amanda wonder out loud how they and their board are partnering with community organizations to plan Kindergarten Orientation.
