Marketers are fantastic at convincing you that you need marketing, so business owners launch a business and dive straight in. However, the fastest way to go bust is when you grow too quickly without the right systems in place.
Your marketing is only as effective as your systems. That is exactly why today I have invited lover all of things system design, Nicole Smith, onto the Got Marketing? podcast.
Nicole is the COO, Business Operations Specialist and Systems Designer from The Artisans Business Solutions. She works with businesses to discover the space between what they are doing and what they want to do in how their day-to-day is operating.

Seeing ideas come to life is the most rewarding part of my job.
But, you’ve think you’ve got a good idea, then you have no idea what to do next.
Today I've invited Frances Chnaider onto the podcast to chat about making the intangible, tangible, and taking a seed of an idea and bringing it to life. Frances is the founder of Awesome Source, a non-alcoholic G&T brand.
The zero per cent category is still in its infancy, but non-alcoholic is growing faster than low-alcohol in most markets. With increased demand comes increased opportunity. Let’s dive into the chat with Frances about how she took Awesome Source from idea to execution.

If there is a market that’s practically locked out to new entrants, it’s active wear. Right? Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Puma: those are not small fish.
So how on earth did an unknown, bootstrapped new player not only break into the market, but seize precious market share? With the power of marketing campaigns of course.
In this episode, I am joined by the cofounders of one of my favourite activewear brands, LNDR, to unpack their marketing. Their launch campaign, “We are LNDR”, is one of my all-time favourite campaigns, but as well as nailing their campaigns, there is one heck of a David vs Goliath story here too.

For too long, marketers (and brands) have relied on Meta and Google platforms.
They have been leaving money on the table by not considering other platforms, and not executing an omni-channel approach. And now, with the beginning of the fall of the big players, they are being left without a choice.
But what is behind the demise of the duopoly?
To have this chat, I’ve brought back one of the first guests I had on this podcast, Erin Morris. Erin is the founder of Young Folks – an independent marketing agency using business as a force for good. They're proudly a certified B Corp with carbon neutral credentials verified by Climate Active and they give back to 1% For The Planet. What does success look like to you? I've often heard that scaling your business to one million dollars is the pinnacle of success for a business owner. But, if doing so means that you’re trading in your lifestyle and running at 110% all of the time, is it really worth it?
In this episode of the Got Marketing? Podcast, my biz pal Kristy Dinuzzo and I dive deep into this question, and why the riches are in the niches, the importance of balancing life and work, and what success really looks like for us.

When you hear the word creativity, you often think of painting, music, or even acting. But what we’re really talking about in the context of marketing is actually coming up with creative ideas.
Creativity is how you stand out. But, it needs to be done strategically.
On this episode of the Got Marketing? Podcast I have my dear friend Katie Emslie with me to talk about what creative strategy is, why it is so important and what exactly a Creative Strategist does.
Katie has worked in the creative industry for over a decade as an Art Director, Designer, and Marketing Manager. Katie's superpower is to bring ideas to life and solve problems through visual design and creative strategy.

10 years ago, it wasn't uncommon for your social media content to reach 25% of your audience organically. Now, it’s considered a success if you get just 1%.
Brands blame the algorithm for their content no longer performing well, but is more at play here?
With everyone copying everyone else on social media, content has become boring, templated and done to death.
If the algorithms aren’t to blame for our poor-performing content, what is?
Joining me to discuss this spicy question is my Darwin-based friend Dante St James. He is a Lead Trainer with Meta Australia and New Zealand, a Digital Advisor and Trainer for a Federal business support program and the Northern Territory’s Entrepreneurship Facilitator on behalf of the Australian Government’s Workforce Australia.

I have used a lot of different approaches to build my business, but one that I find the most valuable is brand collaborations. Collaborations have allowed me to grow my audience and have a more visible brand, which is only one of the reasons I love them.
I recently collaborated with two fabulous women, Elsa Mitchell and Cha Higginson to co-host our exciting Mind Your Business one-day in person (!) retreat in Darwin.
So, in this special episode, I chat with Elsa and Cha all about our event and how we went about planning together, the important considerations to have when collaborating and the common mistakes to look out for.
The Mind Your Business retreat will consist of workshops by myself, Elsa and Cha, nutritious food and drinks, and great company. You can read more about it here.

How to promote your blog by Brian Dean
How many people do you know working in the area they studied at university?
When I started my career in marketing, tertiary qualifications were essential, but my degrees did not prepare me for actually working in marketing. Sadly, not much has changed since then.
Isn't it time that we reimagined marketing education? I chat with my friend Marcus Dunn about this very question in this episode.
Marcus has a background spanning retail, IT, automotive and, most recently, adult education. He had accumulated a wealth of what he considered "generic experience", consigning him to what felt like a life spent working in one non-descript office after another.
In the last five years, though, he experienced a career epiphany after being adequately exposed to digital marketing and specifically SEO, which resonated hard with him. Armed with a new set of skills which opened up a whole range of career options, he set off down a new career path and hasn't looked back.

10 Tips for Smarter Marketing
The holiday season is here, so what better time to discuss Tourism Marketing.
Tourism is worth around $122 billion to the Australian economy, making it one of the biggest drivers of economic growth. As a result, millions of dollars are spent every year marketing tourism destinations.
Mia and her guest Ash have both worked in the tourism marketing sector and share their favourite tourism campaigns in this episode. These include 'Get Chris to Cowra' by Cowra Tourism, 'Wander out Yonder' by WA Tourism, 'Travelling Under the Social Influence' by NZ Tourism and 'CU in the NT', definitely not an official campaign by Tourism NT.
This episode also discusses the power of online reviews and how brands should react to negative reviews.
