I want to ask you a question today give you something to ponder as you go through your day today as you interact with other people as you have feelings and experiences and memories and everything that comes with being human. And the question I want you to consider as you go through life is is this really true? Is this really true? Is this person doing this to me on purpose to hurt me? Is this true? Did this driver cut me off in traffic? Because he's rude and ignorant? Is this true? Or maybe he didn't see me? Is this true? We get so caught up in our perception of things. So caught up in it, and so tied to it and hold so tightly to it to the point of sometimes letting it ruin our lives… read more at www.alexiswild.com/blog/podcast19

Just wanted to pop on quickly today to share some little nuggets of wisdom that a friend of mine reminded me of this week. I am going through some stuff and feelings of unfairness for me are really triggering. They really impact my inner child; they really make me feel insecure and shameful… unwanted, unwelcome… the works! And when I allow that perspective of something being unfair to wiggle its way into my psyche, it changes everything... Continue reading at www.alexiswild.com/blog/podcast17

Today I have a challenge for you. And I really hope that you'll accept it because I think in accepting this challenge you're gonna find that it's slowly but surely changes to you and it slowly but surely creates in your life all the things that you desire. And what I challenge you today with is to feel good. And now maybe you've scoffed and you think that that is silly and simple and worthless. But I want you just to consider for a moment how your life began.... Keep reading at www.alexiswild.com/blog/podcast16

Hello, darlings, hello, hello. Let's settle in and just take a breath in and out.  I just want you to think for a second of who you are now and who you're becoming. I know about you that you value growth and that you value learning about yourself... all the different nooks and crannies and all the things that make you who you are and all the things that you've taken on that aren't, who you are and aren't who you want to be. And all these things that you have taken on they can become part of our identity. ... Keep reading at www.alexiswild.com/blog/podcast14

The topic today is being human and being flawed and sitting in the discomfort of making really big mistakes and sitting in the discomfort of all the heavy gross stomach turning feelings. And I've talked a lot about feelings on here, and about really feeling them to completion and when there's these type of heavier body feelings, it's through our body, that we move them and if we don't allow that for ourselves, then it very quickly it can become something that can physically make us ill.... I believe that we make it and the way that we make it is by believing so strongly in the magic of who we are. And what I mean by that is realizing that who we are is enough and that is all of us. That means the parts of us that are cute, and the parts of us that are silly and the parts of us that are sexy, and the parts of us that are wild, and the parts of us that are guilty, and shame and sad and angry... **Hello, welcome again. It's Tuesday. Oh my gosh, another week. Look at you. Look at you in that last week. Look at the things that you moved through His grace. Look at the things that maybe didn't go quite as you hoped. And look at the times that you stumbled and fell down and got back up again. Wow. You have so much to be proud of and I'm so proud of you....

You are so enough right now. Can you just accept that for just a moment? Just try it on. Just try it on. If you were to believe that you are so loved and so enough, what would that feel like? Just right now, for a moment. Just try it on. You are so loved. You are so enough.

And then, in this feeling of enoughness… Can you also then take it a step further and just try on for size the idea that everything is happening FOR you at all times. The challenges and the joys, the mistakes, the triumphs, the sorrow, the heartbreak, the congratulations.

So in this moment of being enough, and realizing that everything happens for you, can you then go a step further. Can you see that the things that you are afraid of and the things you're worried about, In fact, are not happening in this moment. And if they were to happen, they would be happening for you. For your higher growth. For you to delve into new corners of yourself that you've never looked at before. For you to meet a new challenge that you've never been in. For you to discover and uncover and relish in something new in your life. Something wonderful, or maybe something challenging.

Let's talk about being told to let it go. Let it go. Let it go. We throw this out there and it's thrown at us as if it's very easy thing and somebody harms you or you've been hurt. Let it go shake it off. But here's the thing the only way to let it go or shake it off is if our body has been able to complete the cycle of whatever has riled us up to begin with. And if that has not happened if we haven't been able to fully express the emotion that has been triggered by what has happened or to feel the hurt, or to access the healing, then frankly, in my belief, it's impossible to let it go or shake it off. But when we don't talk about that and we don't realize that it really creates a feeling of something being wrong with us because why can't I shake it off? Why can't I let it go?

"**This podcast was something that was on my radar for quite some time and I made these big plans this idea of going away for a weekend and recording all of the episodes at once and scheduling them in advance and turning them into blogs and putting them on the newsletter and separating them out into social media posts. And it became an idea that became impossible to execute. Because there was so many pieces when really all that I wanted to do was to make a podcast My desire was not to make the most perfect, most popular, most beautiful, most astounding podcast in the world. My desire was simply to make a podcast and this is episode number eight. So for two months now, I sat down and do you know what I've done? All I have simply done is hit record. I didn't book a weekend away. I didn't schedule things. I didn't figure out what is going to talk about I came with an inkling of an idea that I wanted to flesh out with you..."

All right, love's I want to tell you today about a concept that has really, really changed my life. And it's something that I have had to consciously choose over and over and over again. And at the beginning who who wait. I did not want to I did not want to one dorm bed no way. And the realization that choosing this was was truly going to be in my best interest and be instrumental not only to me, but to my family is what helps me to keep going when it was so challenging. And the concept and the belief that I hold to now, almost above, almost above everything else is that of peace over principle, piece over principle. And here's what this looks like. For me. This looks like always, always, always, and I mean, I'm human. So obviously it's not always always as much as possible, always choosing the action that will give me the most peace.

I want to remind you, you don't have to do every single thing on the to do list. We are human beings and perhaps you've heard the saying human being not human doing and it's really true. But something about these to do lists makes us feel really important, doesn't it? If we have a to do list that's a really long well then we must be super important, super needed. Last week I talked about martyrdom and an addiction to victimhood and martyrdom and to the seduction of staying in that mentality and our gigantic to do lists are part of staying in martyrdom.

Martyrdom is so so so so so popular, let's say in the perception that we have about parenting, especially mothering. We're expected to give up everything for our children. We're expected to keep tidy, beautiful houses. We're expected to be perfect partners. We're expected to have kids that are well behaved. And we're expected to be what everybody envisions as the perfect parent. What is a perfect parent anyways, and who made that definition? Who decided that a clean house gives you an A plus score? Who decided that if you give up everything for your children, you're better than everybody else. In fact, how can that even be? So let's lean in today and let's think about ways that...

I'm here today to tell you that I have an addiction.

...And I ponder and wonder if perhaps we share this.

I'm addicted to suffering. I'm addicted to being the victim. I'm addicted to being a martyr.

Maybe you've cringed as I said that or maybe you recognize in yourself this struggle as well?

Because… yes, a victim is persecuted.

But gosh, does a victim ever hold a lot of power!

Today I want to talk about the power of having a compassionate witness and compassionate empathetic support, in your journey, wherever you are. For many of us as we grow older, we discover parts of ourselves that can sometimes be surprising. For me in my early 30s I was leaning into learning more about and loving more of my inner child. I had never even considered my inner child in my 20s - not even on the radar!

**In this getting to know my inner child, I discovered and in fact, she had been there all along. I just wasn’t paying attention. I discovered that my inner child had been really wounded and really needed a lot of love… and still does. My inner child had a lot to show me and teach me about what it had been like for her.

**Now, there is no rule that says you MUST make this thing. And you MUST share it with everyone. And you MUST get 10,000 likes on the internet and everybody must like your thing.

Are you going to pick it up?

I have a couple of questions for you… a couple ways that you can think about things when it doesn't feel like it is going exactly how you hope it would go. We're human – this is going to happen! Life is sometimes simply not going to go smoothly, easily and shit is going to happen. When that happens we really have two choices.

1). Woe is me. I'm a martyr. This is so horrible. I'm never gonna survive this. This is the end of my life.

2). All right. This is challenging. I'm up for the challenge. This is happening for me not to me. How can I make this one of the best things that has ever happened in my life?

We can reframe everything this way.

Maybe you are running late. Now a train is coming and you have to wait for the longest train of your life. It's the 10 minute train. You're stuck at the tracks.

Well, this could be the worst thing ever. You could have an anxiety attack, and you could go into a panic … or you can take some deep breaths. You can use this as an opportunity to connect with yourself for a moment. Perhaps you turn the radio to a station you really love. And gosh, you really could even just close your eyes while you wait there for a moment for this train. You could meditate and you could be grateful and think about all the things in your life that are amazing. And when that arm reaches up again, and you're able to cross the tracks, and the lights stop blinking red, you could continue on in a better place than you were before.

That train was the best thing that's happened to yet that day. It gave you 10 extra minutes to be settled into who you are. I mean, you were already running late anyways. Do you see that we have the power in any circumstance to either sink down and carry this super heavy burden along with us all day long or look at that burden and decide that we're simply not going to pick it up? Now this doesn't mean that burdens don't come. It doesn't mean that life is beautiful all the time. People pass away. Accidents happen. Jobs are lost. But we don't have to pick those burdens up and carry them with us the rest of our lives. We can choose and in the choosing, we also do get to allow ourselves to feel all the feelings.

So when the arm has come down at the train track, and we are stopped…. Stink. Now I'm going to be more late for work. All right. Let’s have our moment of frustration, perhaps even a bit of anger. And now we are done. We're not going to pick up the burden of anger and carry it with us all day. Because we're going to choose.

Sure, it sounds kind of lofty for me to say, while sitting here in my cozy office where nothing wrong is happening right now. For me to say… you can choose this, even in the worst of times. And there's proof all around you– there are families who have gone through unimaginable hardship. And on the other end, if you didn't know what they had gone through it… you would never know because ***they're okay.
