Richard Meisel, The Bald Bard, a history enthusiast and former history teacher, is taking his storytelling skills into the podcast world. Each episode The Bard will share stories from usually history, but sometimes sports, and occasionally even pop culture. These stories are fascinating, intriguing, and often unbelievable...but definitely true. Providing insight and an audience for the The Bard is his wife, Emily Meisel, His Better Half. What can you expect to hear on each episode? A story you have probably never heard before, a few jokes, probably a few "well heck" moments, and truthfully just a husband and wife who like each other's company. So grab a cup of coffee and spend an hour or so with us. What do you have to lose? Okay, an hour, but other than that?
Most of us dream BIG when we are young: "I want to be a great athlete", "I want to be an astronaut and go to space", "I want to the be the President." But how many young children dream of being Chief? That opportunity is not a reality for most, but for Joe Medicine Crow it was not only a reality, but was borderline expected of him. The only problem...how to achieve that dream in the modern world? In this episode we explore how a young Crow Native American goes from just dreaming of being chief to reaching that ultimate goal.

During WWII, a Russian woman named Lyudmila Pavlichenko played a major part in the war for Russia and the Allies. Her story is truly amazing, but sadly often untold. In our first episode, we share her tale spotlighting her time in the army and focusing on an unlikely friendship which stood the test of time.
