Astrid’s carpentry journey from kitting out a van to managing director of a UK carpentry company, and Rowena’s journey from academia into construction are captivating and inspiring stories.
And that’s not the only amazing thing about what they do. As well as the everyday work of a construction company, they teach and inspire women and children, helping to build confidence and inspire the next generation of DIYers and craftspeople.

More than a decade ago now, I started out on my own journey in carpenty, doing an old fashioned apprenticeship in the Welsh woods. Later on I completed a masters degree in Timber Building Conservation at the Weald and Downland open air museum, and now I’m nearly halfway through an MA in Historic Buildings at the university of York. My craft enabled me to travel the world, and ignited a curiosity in the world around us. I’ve met some truly inspirational people on the journey, and I invite you to join me in this journey.
