St. Teresa of Avila, a doctor of the church, has a lot to say about prayer. She was a very clear teacher and based her ideas about prayer and spirituality upon her own life. Her witness of the way God activates supernatural virtues in us, of the way He seeks to reside within us, is outstanding. A good place to start is The Way of Perfection:

St. Margaret of Scotland was granddaughter of St. Stephen of Hungary. The Church has beatified and canonized many royal personages. This excerpt is from Bishop Turgot. The biography is not long:

Off and on, we'll return to St. Augustine. My readings will come from the 2nd edition translation by Frank Sheed, from Hackett Publishing, used with their kind permission.
I highly recommend the Sheed translation. Others don't have the "feel" of Augustine's poetry, in my experience. Of course, YMMV.

Book 6, Chapter 11. Don't delay in your seeking God and true happiness. All else that seems to satisfy will not, for such things are vain and empty in comparison to the depths of yearning within us.

A slight delay, with apologies... but for a good reason! I was ordained to the permanent diaconate on Saturday 11/20/21. It was a profoundly humbling weekend, and the semester is nearing its close, too.
I'm beginning to consider another reading podcast. I want the next one, perhaps, to be a public domain source. I am thinking of The Mansions by St. Teresa of Avila. I'd be grateful for input, of course. What do you want to listen to in Catholic tradition?
