I am Heart Broken
I still dont have my audio interface but I stole my daughters cheap mic she uses for talking with her friends. So it sounds a bit tinny. I just cant stand to wait around anymore and I apologize for releasing something that sounds as bad as this does.
While many people all across the Hive blockchain is all giddy over the success of Leo Threads (and they should be). And the "coming Project Blank" that has been touted for over a year now as a " Web3 Twitter competitor. My hopes were undeniably high.
That turns out to be another boneheaded move on my part. To get my expectations up. To think and actually believe that what they were doing was literally ground breaking and could possibly change the face of the internet connected world. I mean, just imagine. A short form free speech platform for anybody to post about any topic.
Except thats not what it turned out to be.Talk about feeling bamboozeled. Thought it was about free speech and bringing people to the Hive blockchain. But nope. Just a way to boost traffic on their frontend and push that token.
Move along nothing to see here unless you want to pump our 2nd layer token.

I used the version of Kdenlive that came with ModiciaOS but I am not happy with it. So I will be switching to the Flatpak version of Kdenlive and see if that works better. If it does I will do a couple of tutorials on how I did them.

Well II guess the whole video isnt all Hive news and opinion. I do talk a litle about Linux, a free cross platform app for video creators and running a bitcoic node, ipfs podcasting all on your own home server.

I've got to admit. I'm very torn on LeoThreads. On one hand I am very excited that there is something extremely cool about the way they've done it and kept them from being a top level post.
But on the other hand they've been pushing this "Project Blank" thing for so long that I was under the impression that this was Project Blank. Only after the drop of threads did I find out that this was a "proof of concept" for Project Blank. You can imagine my dissappointment that this wasnt it. Threads seems to be nothing more than a way to create more engagement and traffic on Leofinance. Which is fine. I think all dapps should do such a thing. But the hype for it was a little over the top in my opinion. That just made the let down that much bigger for me personally.
All I know is that if and when the "decentralized twitter alternative"code named Project Blank is finally released. I hope and pray it knocks it out of the park and doesnt come splattered with a bunch of Leofinance branding. Because it will only attract crypto enthusiasts and not average people looking to do twitter like shit posts about stupid stuff.

Umbrel I just installed Umbrel this morning on my old laptop running Pop!OS 22.04. It's now syncing my Bitcoin node and I will be running my own Lightning node as well. It's also hosting my IPFS Podcasting node as well.
Some things you may want to know if you install it on your own computer running an Ubuntu/Debian based distro.
- You must have at least a 1TB hard drive. The instructions say a 1 TB external hard drive. I plugged mine in just to be sure and it worked fine but it is not using the external drive. Probably because I have a 1TB internal drive.
- Install docker and docker-compose before you run the install script. The install script will attempt to install docker from a repo that does not exist. When you run the install script append the command with
-s -- --no-install-docker --no-install-docker-composewill solve this. - Once it is installed the docs say to open umbrel.local in your browser. If you installed it on an existing Ubuntu installation you will need to go to your computers hostname.local or the local ip address of that computer.
Free cross platform app for video content creators! Qprompt a free teleprompter app. It even has an apk installer so I'm guessing it runs on android phones as well. Check it out and let me know if it helps you in the content creation.
Linux Update Im still using Pop!OS and still loving it. I did switch to the KDE Plasma 5 desktop because it seems to run way better than the Gnome/Cosmic on my set up. I also do not like Gnome, still.

Creating my Tipping Banner
Whats happening peeps? It's day 2 of week 3 in the Dreemport Ecency challenge and todays portion was actually easy for me. We had to create a banner to use whenever we tip someone's post on Ecency. It's a feature that can be done if you run aross a post that is to old to be upvoted or you dont have enough to do a boost on it. You can tip them Ecency points directly. It does Hive and HBD as well.
This video is a "speed" video in which I recorded a screencast of me using Gimp, a free and open source photo editor similar to Photoshop.
I pirated (borrowed?) @dreemsteem banner she made so I could make sure I had the correct dimensions of the image. I also used to to compare what I was creating to make sure I got something similar but not the same design.
When I was happy with what I created I removed her image layer from the project and exported the final image. I then ran the images through an app called Metadata Cleaner which is, I think, a Linux only app at the momment. It's available on Flathub so any version of Linux can install it easily. I'm sure there are a plethora of similar apps for you Windows & Mac peeps out there.
The Result Here is the banner I made in the video. Its pretty generic and anybody is free to use it if you want. No credit to me is necessary.
I also came up with the idea of constantly changing my banner. I'm going to use quotes of generosity in them and will create 2 different ones for my personal use each month.
These will have my face branded on them. So I ask you not to use these.
If anybody needs help in making a banner I first suggest you check out Canva. It's free and fricking awesome and easy to use. So easy this bonehead used it to create the intro and outro for these videos. Lol.
If you still come up with anything hit me up and I will help as much as I can. Just keep in mind I cant make everybodys. My team mates will come first though.
Leading with Generosity Yesterday I got so flustered with that post that I hit publish without adding the beneficiary. So today I'm going to do it. The beneficiary of 100% of this post goes to someone I think doesnt get hardly any recognition for everything he does. On chain and off chain. He has been there consistently over the last year and half for me personally. Even longer for others. He's no stranger to generosity either. Of all the people on Hive I've talked to most is without a doubt him. I know as soon as you go look at his profile you will think I'm nuts. Since he hasnt posted for 9 months. And even then it was pure 100% shit post.
But the dude is unwaivering in his support for Hive. He's the creator and maintainer of MSPWave and the coming SplinterlandsTV which is already in operaton with a full schedule. He's help tutor countless budding radio/video streamers start and run their own shows on the blockchain including myself. The dude is none other than @r0nd0n.
And he deserves way more than what this post will probably bring him. So please upvote as much as you can, reblog it and share it on the old social media!
Maybe if we tag him enough in other posts he might make some time to actually post something before the end of 2022! Lol.

Pop!OS 22.04 Is a Linux distro based on Ubuntu 22.04 and that is where the similarites end. It uses the Cosmic desktop (customized version of Gnome 42) and it is beautiful. Flatpak and deb packages run out of the box through the Pop Store. Ubuntu's snap packages are completely removed and this little distro is lightning fast on both of my computers. The big desktop as well as the little Chromebook C300. I gotta say I have fallen in love with it.
Actual use cases The day job I had it installed, updated and my online accounts set up in 30 minutes. In fact that day I used it for work. So I kept using it for work instead of the work issued laptop. And it's a lot faster than that windows machine.
On the windows machine it I have to use Google Chrome and it gets laggy. On Pop!OS I stlll use Google Chrome but it just feels a lot faster at page rendering and load times. The performance for work these last two weeks have been nothing short of amazing.
Mostly thanks to the tiling windows feature. Made me feel like I was on i3 again. Loved it!
Play time I was able to run Lightworks, Reaper and pretty much anything else I want to do like I have for years in Linux. Everything has just worked so far.
In a time when it seems everybody is shilling Fedora as the best or seemless Linux experience. I'm gonna say nope. Pop!OS is the one distro you should try.
I tried adding some themes and icons but ended up going back to the defaults because they honestly just looked better.
If you want to install a distro and just get some work done so you can play later. This is your distro.
And I'm keeping this one.

This video was recorded live and I did do some editing for time. I also basically cut out about 15-20 minutes of the end. Because the audio went to crap and had lost control of volume levels of a couple of people on discord. So what got recorded was a bunch of high gain distorted crap.

Checking out Regolith Desktop 2
In this video I looked at it installed on the Ubuntu server 22.04 as reccommended by thier instructions.
All went good but I've been running into some minor problems and have since switched to putting it on stock Ubuntu 22.04 desktop. That video will be coming next week. Its a much better experience.
Keep in mind that this is still beta and I'm not sure if they will actually release an iso for a complete distro.

How to get the big up votes on Hive
I know, thats another click baity title but maybe it will get you to thinking. Some of you know that I have been "guest curating" for Ecency. Who knows maybe I even voted on one of your posts. If I did I truly hope it helped you.
I've learned a lot from doing it and I absolutely love it. It really is different to curate for someone else rather than yourself. And I found myself having to put myself into a different mindset to do it correctly.
In this 27 minute video I go over some things about curating content and what is the difference between good and bad quaility content.
What are they? Well I'm gonna make you watch the video! I worked hard on the new intro and outro. Let me know what you think of them. I also am now using Lightworks to do the editing and post production. I'm really enjoying it and the videos are starting to look a lot better. Do you see and hear a difference?
The biggest take away from this video and my opinion is this:
- Just be you.
- Be original.
- Publish your best content.
- Remember on Web3 YOU ARE YOUR OWN PRODUCT!

Making it easier for new users to use 3Speak
And the tips keep rolling in! Thanks @beeber for the ideas. I made you 50% beneficiary of this post.
This isnt a video production tutorial or anything like that. Rather some tips to make your experience using 3Speak a little easier and faster without less hasle.
Things to keep in mind 1. It isnt YouTube or Odeyese. Do not compare them. 2. This is new technology that no one else is putting these peices together in this way. 3. Expect things to break occasionaly. 4. There is an 11% share on your reward that is more than fair as a cost to use their service. Its very possible to make this back and more if the @threespeak curators upvote your video.
Watch this video by @eddiespino to see how to meet the requirements for upvotes. 5. There are many things that could cause problems with uploading to 3Speak.
- Your cache on your web browser
- Your hardware. If you are running a 10 yr old laptop with 4gb of ram on a wifi connection. Use extreme patitience.
- Your connection to the internet.
- Your geographical location
- IPFS is slow until more nodes come online.
So lets say you have your video recorded and edited and ready to post.
Do NOT just log in and start uploading and then write your post. Do all this before you log into 3Speak.
Bonus Tip: You can always go sneak a look at the #issues room in the 3Speak discord to see if there are any issues they are having right before you log in.

In this 11 minute video I show you how to upload your video to 3Speak.
Only mp4 with aac audio at 48000hz is currently supported. Max files size is 5gb. 4k video is not supported.
3Speak uses new technology and does not operate on the backend like YouTube or other video hosting sites. So be patient it works and can sometimes be slow. I will go over this and other tips to make things easier for you when using 3Speak in future videos.

The average pit stop in an Indy Car race is 8 seconds. So in the time it took you to watch this 30 second promo he could've pitted 5 times!
That should show you how fast things happen in these races. I think I may as well just admit it. I am hooked on iRacing now.

The SIM Racer's Edge Promo (Extended)
A couple of days ago @melinda010100 posted this video in a post here on the Need for Speed community. You can go read the original post here.
But since it wasn't on the blockchain I decided it should be here for prosperity. That plus I'm a kermudgen for keeping all things on Hive. There will be a shorter version of this one soon and we have a lot of plans for a whole lot more with the Need for Speed community and the SIM Racer's Edge. This is going to be some exciting stuff.
Me personally, I am a long time race fan. I admit that over the last couple of yearsmy enthusiasim has waned a bit becaue of the way Nascar has been with thier rules.
I didnt get to see the race on Thursday live. I made it to the broadcast with 5 laps remaining. But I have watched the replay twice on Friday. It was a very good race. My boy, @jrollette went from a starting position of 12 clear up to 3 within just a few laps. He finished 4th under caution but his team mate @fbrbdavis finished in 1st and even admitted in the post race interview that if it hadnt been for the caution hew wouldve been overtaken by the other 3.
What A RACE! I gotta say. It totally refueled my juices for racing. It was a total blast and I cant wait till the next one.!

Ramblings What is HiveLive
HiveLive is a way for you to accept donations in any Hive Engine Coin Yes you heard that right! HiveLive is an awesome tool for streamers. Whether you are streaming on VimmTV YouTube or even Twitch!
It works just as simply as any other streaming tool and even gives you a donation page you can share in the description.
How to use it 1. Go to https://hivelive.me and enter your hive username without the @ symbol 2. Click the "Generate Link" button 3. You can choose the advanced options. But there is only 1 option at this time. That is to hide donation message from a blacklist of bots tha give out rewards. You can see the current list here. 4. The link on top is the link you copy & paste into a browser source in OBS Studio. Best to make the source size at whatever size you are streaming in. Most likely 1920 x 1080. 5. The link on the bottom you want to put in your streams description so people can donate.
The instructions are on the site as well.
This is an awesome way to accept donations in any Hive-Engine token!
SuperHive Isnt released yet but you can check out the code on Github.

SuperHive is the next gen blog engine. It build a blog from your posts to the Hive blockchain. It looks to be themeable and I could see a whole ecosystem of Theme creators offering to themes for purchase, ovbiously accepting Hive, or even creating custom themes.

A brand new start with the new year.
Since it is the beginning of a new year we decided to take a new approach to the handling of the podcast. Now instead of uploading a 4 hour show all at once.

Ironic Hypocrisy
I've seen alot of people who either just dont understand NFT's, Web3 and crypto currency in general.
They dont get NFT's and why they are special.
They dont understand what Web3 is about
I agree with them about crypto currency in general. They are a pretty much shit. Especially if they have a company running them.
There is only one crypto currency that is truly decentralized, free and does not have a company behind it.
That is Hive

My biggest gripe in this episode is these medium to big YouTubers who gripe and complain about crypto currencies, talk down NFTs and Web3 while still using Odeysee (LBRY) Dtube & 3Speak. They obviously see a value in those platforms otherwise they wouldnt use them.
Many of these YouTubers were bribed by LBRY to post their content there by offering themselves as a "free backup" of there YouTube channels. Plus if they had an enormous amount of subscribers they were given thumb drives with a large amount of LBC for shilling LBRY.

I do have a LBRY chanell. I havent posted on it since I found Hive and 3Speak. Why? Because 3Speak & Hive do not have a company running it. It is truly a grass roots, decentralized blockchain. LBRY (now Odeysee) has a company (LBRY, Inc) running it and holds the majority of the crypto currency (LBC).
Odeysee (LBRY) also has the ability to delete a user's account. That kinda defeats the purpose of a decentralized, immutable blockchain.
