SEAT amplifies the voices of third culture kids through mixed-media storytelling that features Southeast Asian American (SEAA) youth, women and LGBTQ+ communities to reclaim our SEAT. Sara Cantos Kline is an international development professional with a Masters in Development Management born in California and raised as a nomad. Based in Washington, DC. She has a vision to one day open a food truck and a community kitchen to teach children from underserved communities how to cook their homeland cuisines and various foods from around the world.
She talks to us about growing up as a second generation Filipino American raised in Southern California walking the lines of two identities being raised as an American in a white household, and exploring her American, Latina and Southeast Asian identity through different hobbies such as dancing, traveling and cooking. Through her multifaceted experience she eventually grew to be comfortable in her skin.

Christy Innouvong-Thornton (she/her/hers) is a first-generation Lao-American and was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. She's the daughter of refugee immigrants from Luang Prabang, and Savannakhet, Laos and Nongkhai, Thailand. She is the Founder of Tuk Tuk Box, a specialty food retailer offering curated Southeast Asian subscription boxes and products. She is also the Co-Founder of Courageous Kitchen.

Armand Cuevas is a DC Public School teacher. He teaches ninth grade Algebra 1 and General Education. He was born and raised in the suburbs of Southern California. His teaching journey began overseas as a public school teacher through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. He then went on to receive his Masters in Education at Johns Hopkins University of Education in conjunction with an Urban Teachers Residency program.

Kim (she/they) is a second-generation Bisexual & Queer Lao/Vietnamese American. She is a visual artist, born and raised in Falls Church, VA. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY producing art and curating exhibits with a current focus on exposing the history of the Secret War and the bombs in Laos. Faye is a second-generation Iu-Mien American raised by refugee parents and the fourth of six children, born and raised in Richmond, CA. She majored in Public and Environment Health at UC Berkeley and studied Social Justice at the California Institute of Integral studies. She is currently based in Oakland, CA, where she is a Visual Storyteller at a social change communications firm, a freelance designer and photographer (fayepou.com), and the co-founder of SEAT.

Chanel is an International Relations professional with a Masters of Science in International Development Management. She studied Social welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. She is an Indonesian immigrant and was raised in the sub rural parts of Jakarta and suburbs of Los Angeles. She is the Co-Founder of SEAT, a mentor to first generation young girls, and is currently based in Washington, DC.

Laura is a second-generation Hmong American raised by refugee parents who immigrated to the US after the Secret War in Laos. She was raised in Fresno, CA but is currently based in Sacramento, CA. She is the co-founder and Board Chair of Hmong Innovating Politics (HIP) and currently a Project Manager for the CHAN-BOF (California Hmong Advocates Network - Building Our Future) for Peace Collaborative. She is also a certified ThetaHealing practitioner.
