Are you trying to end your marriage in a civilised, even amicable way? Does it feel like the divorce process is turning you into enemies?
Have you considered mediation?

Mediation is a way of sorting any differences between you and your ex-partner, with the help of a third person who won’t take sides. It facilitates the resolution of issues involving family breakdown, separation, divorce and its financial consequences, arrangements for children and any other kind of family dispute.

In this talk divorce mediator and coach, Jane Mace, will explain what mediation is (and what it isn’t). She will also dispel some common misconceptions and answer your questions about mediation, how it works, what to expect and any other aspect of mediation you have a query on.   At the end there is a Q&A.

Confidence can take a knock during a divorce process.  Especially if you were the one who was left.  At the same time, as your confidence is at its lowest you are being asked to live a whole new life, meet people and eventually even date again. Daunting as this may seem, most people end up being more confident than before!

Getting your confidence back will be a gradual process and requires effort. The basic psychology is that we want to avoid things we aren’t familiar with. To get confident, you have to feel the fear and anxiety of new actions, embrace it, and move ahead and do them anyway.

In this session Dr Isabelle Hung shares research on ways you can make your confidence grow again including the basic steps to getting there.

Many of us feel that past relationships are a sign of failure or a waste of time and energy spent with the wrong person. However, relationships can help us grow and there is much wisdom that can be taken from these experiences. Instead of trying to understand why it ended, it’s better to focus on the lessons that can be learned in order to move on and form new relationships.

In this session, Clinical Psychologist and relationship therapist, Dr Isabelle Hung, will discuss how we can learn from past relationships.

You will learn:

  • How the time spent on a failed relationship was not time wasted.
  • How valuable skills in life come from every failure.
  • How to embrace these failures and use them as a springboard to a better future.

Dr Isabelle Hung is a co-founder of divorceclub.com and a clinical psychologist. Having got through her own divorce, she is now remarried and happy to report that divorce really is an opportunity for growth and positive change.

About Divorce Club:
Divorce can be challenging, but it is also a real opportunity for personal growth and change. Both Lucy and Isabelle co-founded Divorce Club back in 2016 for one simple reason – we know that no one should go through divorce alone! It's now the largest Divorce Club in the UK.

The two biggest assets most people own are their house and their pension.

It’s important to make sure you have your fair share of both when you get divorced.

For those who are not particularly financially savvy, it can be daunting to understand where to start when it comes to pensions: what do I need to know? how do I find it out?  what is fair?  what do I need?

For others who are more aware of their money, other questions can arise about how to divide up the assets, and whether there is a way they can divorce fairly without diluting their pension or complexities around their particular pension pots.

We are delighted to welcome Katie Nutting, a chartered financial planner at Schroders Personal Wealth, who will join us to talk about this important and misunderstood asset and answer your questions.

Katie is an associate member of Resolution, specialising in financial planning for individuals who are going through the divorce process. She works with solicitors, mediators and divorce coaches to ensure assets are split in the most appropriate way, taking into account an individuals financial position and future plans.

Divorce is an opportunity to change your life to be exactly the way you want it.  In the (often painful) process of uprooting and ending a relationship that isn’t working, you can also lose restrictions and norms that held you back from doing the things you love.  Maybe you are having to return to work after raising a family.

In this session with Fiona Reith,  the UK’s only accredited Designing Your Life coach, take some time to give some great pointers as to how to go about changing your career.  You will be inspired by all the possibilities.

“A Designing Your Life class has become one of Silicon Valley’s most popular courses… Two academic studies have now proved its ability to cut anxiety on the career front and help people reach their goals whatever their age… Crucially, your life is not a problem to be solved. It’s an experience, and the fun comes from designing it”

– Christina Patterson (Daily Mail)
